Cable confirms Scott has ACL tear
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Monday, November 22nd, 2010 at 2:22 pm in Oakland Raiders.
Raiders coach Tom Cable said defensive end Trevor Scott has a torn anterior cruciate ligament, putting him out for the season.
Cable said options include moving weakside linebacker Quentin Groves to defensive end or signing a free agent.
More to come . . .

I find it hard to believe that there are Garbagekowski guys and Campbell guys at all…I mean it is like people arguing over which pimple faced fatty is better looking….what is the point? They are both ugly.
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:24 pm
Greg Ellis in shape?
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:25 pm
That sucks
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:26 pm
Cable care to confirm why on earth our starting DE is covering a punt that was the last play of the half?
Is Matt Shannessey going to take his place on the punt coverage unit?
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:26 pm
Mistic,
What’s happening right now is a sobering, albeit somewhat emotional, assessment of the way things are.
Had the Raiders just lost the game…let’s say 21 – 10…move on.
But they did a “Back 2 the Future” that brings all sorts of concerns to the table.
35-3? Damn! off a bye? come on!
==========================================================
The wheels came off, and we were blown right off the field. Ugly and painful, but not world ending. This seems to be a resilient group, and I expect that they will look much better against miami.
So far except of houston and arizona, we are winning the games we are supposed to win.
This isnt nearly as bad as it seems.
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:26 pm
JFB,
I’ve watched a few Pitts games this year and I don’t recall them running 8 man fronts.
***************************
Have the ever faced such a one-dimensional team?
We are one of the best running teams and one of the worst passing teams.
We have the 32nd ranked QB starter as far as completion % and the backup is even worse, lol.
I will give you this, if DHB actually made a play down the field in the game over the top, they might have switched up the defense. But to think that Dick Lebeau would have just conceded the big play to DHB before it happened is just off the charts ridiculous.
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:26 pm
Word is Al called Howie Long and asked if he could still give the Raiders 15 plays a game for the rest of 2010!
Howie said he thought so….
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:26 pm
That’s too bad. Trevor Scott made plays on the field. Although Shughnessy will get more playing time one would think.
Scott adds versitilty to the defense.
Stinks that it was a last second punt before the half.
Dakota,
You are right, what is the point.
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:26 pm
Great, more bad news…
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:27 pm

Trevor Scott was a backup DE. What’s the problem with him being on STs?

Yup! Why not have Bruce Campbell get out there. Shoot, he runs a 4.75 40…..get him out there…he ain’t doing anything else
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:28 pm
And the hits just keep on rollin.
We’ll bounce back.
We’re due.
Later, guys. Be good.
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:29 pm
Dakota,
There aren’t too many Campbell guys. Just a bunch of guys who don’t agree with the Gardowski proproganda who by default must be JC guys, lol.
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:29 pm
HILARIOUS that Fisher slapped VY on IR.
I hope Bud Adams fires Fisher so we can get him!
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:30 pm
So far except of houston and arizona, we are winning the games we are supposed to win.
This isnt nearly as bad as it seems.
We weren’t a good team back then, now we are. We committed turnovers against a better team thus giving us no chance for an upset. We shut down the run, Exposehimselfer is a great qb and he made some plays. We could beat left on our schedule. We have Miami the Jags and Denver at home all of which we must and should win. The Chargers don’t have a homefield advantage being so close to LA but Rivers is tough so we could split the Indy and SD games. We do this and were 9 and 6 heading to KC for the final game of the season.
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:30 pm
JFB,
DHB does have size. It should be harder to jack him up at the LOS….
But I doubt that anything different would have happended in the game.
LeBeau and Belicheck look to take your #1 weapon away. In the Raiders case its really the only weapon. ONce DMAC is shuttered…that’s it.
So I hope the Raiders realize that Mike Nolan will probably have a similiar game plan next week
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:30 pm
JFB it’s not about him conceding a damn thing you take it. The Steelers aren’t God’s dude they have been beaten deep all year long. T say we could’ve gotten deep on them is not like walking on water..lol
We got behind them plenty last year. That was the first time Big Ben has beaten the Raiders. So hell yeah DHB can get behind them.
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:31 pm
HILARIOUS that Fisher slapped VY on IR.
Wow
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:31 pm
Out of our 3 final division games, i think we can sweep kc or denver, but probably not both. I like our chances of winning vs the donkeys at home better than beating kc or sd on the road.
Non divisional games with jacksonville, is tough however I like our team in a close one.
Indy is a different story along with sd. i wouldnt be surprised if we lose both of these games by more than a touch down.
That being said 2 more wins gets us to seven and would represent huge improvement over last year, but it may not be enough for cable to keep his gig.
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:32 pm
Yeah, Fisher would go from an owner that pushed a QB on him, to an owner that pushes an entire roster and coaching staff on him?
lol
I wish, but I don’t think so.
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:34 pm
Priest,
Not saying it couldn’t have happened, just saying I highly doubt the Pittsburgh would have changed their game-plan defensively if a guy with 30 career catches and 2 TD’s was playing WR.
Dick Lebeau is a notorious risk-taking, ultra aggressive DC. He wouldn’t have conceded a thing, and would have still forced the Raiders to throw the ball under a heavy blitz, no matter if DHB was in the game.
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:35 pm
Malibu Ben looked like he had curled up into the fetal position before. He was pro at it for someone who does not go down easy.
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:35 pm
“They came out swinging and it seemed like we kind of balled up when they were swinging and we didn’t respond to the punch they through at us,’’ McFadden said.
========================================
Uh, yeah. They came out swinging and the Raiders offense kind of balled up. They came out swinging, and the Raiders said, “not in the face, not in the face.” Pathetic. I’m looking at Jason Campbell here.
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:38 pm
Wilbon made a great point. The Steelers should have jumped Seymour.
They may not care for putzface the flasher
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:40 pm
OK so they Blitz and you beat it with DMC and underneath we never made them cover him we never forced them inyto anything other than what they do best. We just didn’t respond…………period
Like DMC said is what I saw we just balled up and conceded the game to them, and we’re a much better team than that. For some reason Murphy didn’t man up.
I cannot say it enough we just didn’t play football.
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:41 pm
Minus our two leaders on defense, and our o-line playing like car board cutouts vs. one of the top 3 or 4 teams in the league was a recipe for disaster.
I dont think we will look that bad again, as long as our starters are playing.
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:41 pm
That Pitt D is very difficult to block, and they went after the shakey QB.
You’ll notice they didn’t go after Tom Brady last week, with zero sacks, Good QB.
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:42 pm
Never seen DHB emerge while everyone else was “balling up” so safe to say he would have been right there with Murphy and everyone else wimping out.
But hey, maybe he could have helped in run-blocking!!
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:42 pm
Ben Roethlisberger is proof that you can win with a 250 lb QB behind an awful O-Line
Rapethisburger (like JaWalrus) has also drawn comparisons to John Elway …
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:45 pm
Coaches by nature are very conservative, particularly Raider Coaches.
I guess they didn’t feel comfortable with that tricky Pitt D to “cut it loose” with the playbook.
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:45 pm
Congrats Rockstar! Glad to hear everything went well. Now kiss your restfull nights goodbye for about 8 months.
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:45 pm
Mistic,
Hope the Raiders are not initimidated or overwhelmed by teams like the Steelers.
The Chargers will be playing like a top tier team when the Raiders get them in S.D and Indy is a top tier team.
Jacksonville and Miami bring physical defenses to the table too.
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:45 pm
I’m not a big T Scott fan but that news sucks!!!
That means Shannessey plays more, Great he’s developing into a very good DE.
He has to step up
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:46 pm
Dick Lebeau 1, Hue Jackson 0. Game.

LOL
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:47 pm
Just beat Denver and KC….those are the MUST WINS in my opinion. Two teams that the Raiders should match up well against.
The rest on the schedule play that physical brand of football or have prolific offenses.
Unless you think two blocked punts for 10 points is in the offering….the limitations of this offense could be very much exposed this next month
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:49 pm

Oooh those violent bible-thunpers.
Frankly, the best highlight of the game.

Miami, Jacksonville, Denver, and KC are all locks
Question is will 9 wins get us in the playoffs?
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:50 pm
JHill,
Why is KC a lock? Because it is late in the year in freezing KC?

That’s not that unusual. You do see offensive and defensive starters on special teams.
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:52 pm
KC is a lock because we are better than they are.
We beat them without Nnamdi, Henderson, and Chaz. What do you think will happen with those 3 guys actually playing?
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:54 pm
J Hill,
Miami and Jax are NOT locks. Miami can play defense. That could result in a low score affair.
Tyler Thigpen beat the Raiders last year with a less talented group. He will be in his 2nd game as full-time starter with all the preparation that goes with that.
Jacksonville has put up points on the board and beaten teams like Indy and Houston….Hardly a slam dunk.
The Raiders offense will be on display. There are a handful of guys fighting for their NFL careers over the next 5 weeks…or should be fighting for their NFL careers
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:56 pm
Any team that puts 35-3 on tape….don’t have any locks.
The coaches have a LOT to clean up this week!

Thec,
I don’t think there is a LT available to us instead of DHB that was better than Veldheer ended up being. I’m fine with the DHB pick and Veldheer at LT.
+++++++++++++++++
Eugene Monroe, or Michael Oher…Could have been the picks if you dont trade down in the 2009 draft.
2010 I am fine with V at either LT or C, he is a baller flat out… However this was the year we could have taken bryant…
November 22nd, 2010 at 2:57 pm
WHO is this CHAZ guy?
November 22nd, 2010 at 3:15 pm
All Raiders should be of this mindset. This is old time Raider football. Make sure the opponent understands that trash talk is not always acceptable.

Losing to Pittsburgh is the best thing that could have happened. What it showed the Raiders is how much they have to up their game. They were coming off a bye, a week in which they took first place in the AFC West by doing nothing. They had won 3 in a row and I’m sure they were feeling pretty good about themselves. Pitt on the other hand had just had their heads handed to them and had lost last year to Oakland. Which team do you think was more motivated? Oakland’s loss tells them we have a long way to go and that we have to be more physical and intense.
The thing I found most surprising was their inability to take advantage of the patched up offensive line of Pittsburgh. I thought for sure they would get a lot of pressure going after the left side of the O-line. The team as a whole looked flat and uninspired. Playing football at 10 a.m. our time has an effect, as does a two week layoff.
They’re one game out of first and have to play the entire AFC West again. One loss is not the end of the world but it does show how much they need to improve to compete with Pitt, NE, Baltimore, Indy, and the Jets.
November 22nd, 2010 at 3:19 pm
I’m a little disappointed in RoMac so far. He’s certainly no Ray Lewis, Patrick Willis or any other above average MLB.
How long do we wait to see if he’s what we thought he was?
November 22nd, 2010 at 3:31 pm
corprate raider says it all right there, syemour hold his temper ( which by the way i’ve watched the replay of about 50 time now :p) and they should have been able to walk all over their line in the second half, i too was a little dissapointed in the lack of taht coming to be.
November 22nd, 2010 at 4:19 pm
Somebody answr this one for me please?
If we are as talented as anyone in the league
than why aren’t we playing like the jets, pats, ravs etc etc
answer to follow this post
November 22nd, 2010 at 4:33 pm
I’m not sure this will hurt us at all. Shannessey is a better player, and if they do move Groves down, I think Howard will play well. Goethel looked horrible on Sunday.
