Dolphins 33, Raiders 17

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer

Fourth quarter notebook

POSTED AT THE 2-MINUTE WARNING
– Ricky Williams broke loose on a 45-yard touchdown run with 3:12 to play to put the Dolphins up 33-17 and send most of the fans that remained streaming for the exits. A team that gained 160 yards in four quarters against the Bears in a 16-0 loss was up to 475 yards after the scoring run.

– Bruce Gradkowski threw errantly on a fourth-and-4 play near midfield, turning the ball over to the Dolphins. He was 13 of 26 for 216 yards at the time of the incompletion.

– Chad Henne surpassed 300 yards and continued to go after Walter McFadden in the fourth quarter with a 23-yard pass to Davone Bess. Dan Carpenter’s 25-yard field goal put Miami up 26-17.

– Ford stole a deep Gradkowski pass early in the fourth quarter for a 52-yard gain to set the Raiders up deep in Miami territory. It set up a 30-yard field goal by Sebastian Janikowski when the Raiders couldn’t punch in a touchdown.

Anthony – Campbell was not on the field today.

Well props to you I guess for getting in someone’s craw enough to get that page going.

I would be honored, in a weird type of way.

An anti Al Davis page would be a good idea. An anti Al Davis billboard. Oh, wait, that’s been done…

  • No Mas Diamante

Boller. See what he can do. Can’t be worse. Nothing to lose…

Lose next week at san diego and and KC wins? Forget about it. Seasons done. If that is what happens then just fire cable now and promote jackson to Interem Head coach. See if the team responds to him. Cable can’t seem to motivate these guys.

Plug in Bruce Campbell and start giving him reps so we can see what we’ve got, or not. We need a shakeup on the oline and we may as well start getting a look at different combinations for next season.

  • Bauce 2 Dope

The game today was bad….but I was happy to meet Drexl again…The Great Raider Dell and da man they call 707raiders…..but yeah both lines sucked today it all starts there. Blaming Campbell or Gradkowski does nada….but Dell may be right lol we may just need a white QB. Grad was awful today but I’m not sure what Campbell would have done

Why trade Nnamdi? OK, so he is not Deion, get over it, he is 5 times Stanford routt and 10 times W.Macfadden. why trade a good player? Al is gonna go and draft a dammned Project. My philosophy: keep the good ones, get rid of the POS.

    ************************

Until our O-line is good-great we will not win anything that matters.

So, trade Nnamdi for a 2011 1st round pick, and draft Stephen Wisniewski! Then t=in the second draft a RG, or RT wichever Bruce Campbell is not playing!

Maybe you would be honored, Vegas. I’m not. I’ve done nothing but make fun of it since I learned of it.

I bet Gradkowski is done for the season. He probably re-injured his shoulder. He probably has needed surgery all season. He could be like the Dolphins QB Chad Pennington who just injured his shoulder for the THIRD time. Pennington was only in the game for ONE play. For a QB, these shoulder injuries can be much worse than knee injuries.

I know eveyone will hate on Bruce after this game but Campbell was ten times worse last week. I hope Cable stays with Bruce. The only chance. Im not saying he will be the quarterback of the future but gives us the best chance now. To all Raider fans, let hope for the best next week and I will always support the Raiders. 28 years alive 28 years a raider fan.

    Totally agree with you.
    RAIDER ‘TIL I DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Raiderbuck

Screw this, I’m going to get a drink or 7, have a good one everybody!

  • Raider Dell

Bruce Campbell is done, he is on IR.

Start Boller the rest of the season, it can’t get any worse.

  • Bauce 2 Dope

Hire Marvin Lewis as DC next year….John Marshall has to go. How could Desmond Bryant do so little and play so much? I talked with John Henderson’s Uncle at the game and he just laughed and shook his head about the whole situation

  • lefty12

With BG probably gone,I hate to say this but I really hope Campbell goes down next.

  • YoungAmerican

Bud Adams isn’t going to let go of Vince Young. Carson Palmer won’t do much without good offensive line play. He has two receivers who are much more talented than anyone on this team (besides possibly Ford), and the Bengals are perennially s**t.

The Raiders need to upgrade the right side of the offensive line, the receiving corps and the secondary. And they need to stop picking QBs up off the trash heap. This season they didn’t have much of an option. Next season they do.

No sh*t campbell wasn’t on the field today. Thank God, for that we had a chance

Richard Seymour needs to put a right cross to one of his teammates

    Kyle Boller????

  • http://www.aldavissucks.blogspot.com The Real MaddenRaider

If Gradkowski is out for the year we’d might as well play Campbell, since we’d be playing for the draft, anyway. Campbell could help us get another number one pick better than anyone on the roster!

Eagles are looking to get 2 2nd RD. picks for Kolb.

I wonder if they’ll take Nnamdi straight up for Kolb?

  • 187killa

i just realized something: we have an offensive linemen named BRUCE CAMPBELL

    a mixture of both qbs…

  • turner42

Cambell played a half last week, Bruce played a half. Bruce had picks and no points last week, then that pathetic performance today. How can you people still hate on JC, and support Bruce? Again, two weeks ago Raiders in first place, two games later with Bruce playing 1.5 games they’re two out. 1+1 =2, have fun in Rehab Bruce. Raiders take the division, with someone other than the mighty Bruce playing QB, bank on it!

  • Just Fire Baby

Great job on the WC today.

Let’s have a non-QB hand the ball off to a non RB, lol.

No suprise that a fumble ensued.

  • http://www.aldavissucks.blogspot.com The Real MaddenRaider

If Gradkowski’s out, Campbell probably is the best option. We’d be playing for the draft, trying to lose. There’s nobody you’d rather have under center when trying to lose than Jason Campbell. He will deliver.

  • 0ak72

maybe otis sistrunk wants to coach this team

  • Raider Dell

The Real Ray – We should make WHATEVER trade the Eagles are asking for Kolb. He is really the only available QB.

  • http://www.aflciodental.com/unions/IBEW.png The Real Ray

Time to give Boller a try….?

  • Macho Man Randy Savage

Play Jacoby Ford @ QB & CB & DT…and maybe RT!

  • Bauce 2 Dope

Campbell would have done no worse than Grad. Oline stinks to high hell man. Both Qbs are no good but Campbell is better as starting for our team. A qb at some point needs to be able to make all the throws. Grad cant and Campbell can….eventho he looks lost out there sometimes. But it dont matter guys…..both lines are missing key ingredients…..the interior of the oline stinks and the Tackles are average….the dline lacks a true NT and a speed rushing monster at DE. Top that with the fact we refuse to blitz that is a recipe for disaster

Bottom line, it was obvious from the end of the first quarter that this game was going to be a loss. on both sides of the ball the Raiders were getting outplayed.
Had not been for Ford’s heroics, we would be talking about another squeeler type whooping.
One can overlook the Pitt game, but this one at home is a total embarrassment. It also obvious that without Nnamdi the DBs are totally helpless. And, that without a decent offensive game plan, the Raiders RBs are exposed. There was one screen to McFadden.
Where was Seymour all game long? Did he make any impact plays?
Got to give to McClain, at least we know he can play center field.
Cable should be gone asap, the season is not going anywhere but down anyway, there’s very little possibility that the Raiders can win in SD or KC or beat Indy, and Jax is also a tough team. So maybe, the Raiders can beat the donkeys, that’ll be a 6-10, and another losing season.

  • YoungAmerican

Anthony – The Raiders had a chance and didn’t do anything with it. Your point is moot. Campbell or Gradkowski? It doesn’t matter. Gradkowski played today, and it was an embarrassing loss.

  • edward teach

    A couple of observations;

Cable loves the underdog, which is why his offensive line is made up of guys that couldn’t cut it anywhere else, a guard that couldn’t play tackle and a rookie from a Division 3 school. It’s why Justin Fargas was allowed to continue to bash into his own blockers and run into defenders long after it was clear that he wasn’t an NFL running back. It’s also why a plucky little scrapper with no field vision and a weak arm is your starting quarterback right now.

I was shocked when Campbell was pulled in Pittsburgh. No way was our offensive performance on the quarterback that day. Balls were dropped all over the place, the running game was completely shut down and we picked up one blitz for every five that the Steelers were successful with. Those of you that want Gradkowski can have him. Just don’t expect a different result than what you saw out there today.

Also, the idea that Nnamdi should be traded is one for the books. Our secondary’s performance today without him at 100% today is all the proof anyone should need that he completely changes the way teams approach the passing game when he’s in there and healthy.

Well, Young American, if Gradkowski is out, the season’s over, anyway. So, we’d be playing for the draft. In that instance, we should definitely go with Campbell. Nobody gives us a better chance of losing.

  • Bauce 2 Dope

Dell yeah we should beg for Kolb…we need a QB bad

  • Just Fire Baby

We were only down 6 with under 10 to go.

Read where the Eagles won’t take anything less than a 1st round draft pick for Kolb.

  • Macho Man Randy Savage

Never mind Kolb. tell the eagles we’ll give up the whole roster, the raideretts & Als wheelchair for their HC!

  • http://www.aflciodental.com/unions/IBEW.png The Real Ray

Looks like the Patriots are gonna get a good RD. pick from us!

  • http://www.aldavissucks.blogspot.com The Real MaddenRaider

I’m sure this will be Al Davis’s 8th straight losing season. How many do you think he’ll stick around for? Think he’ll let himself go an entire decade losing? Or will he finally bail before that happens? I hope so.

  • joetoronto

The lack of a running game has killed us the past two games.

There’s a handful of QB’s in this league that can win without a running game, and we don’t have any of them.

Play action is vital to our offense but when you can’t run at all, it’s useless.

I wouldn’t blame the run defense, they were on the field way too long.

I agree that Walter McFadden should have been replaced with Huff, the poor kid was eaten alive out there.

  • Raider Dell

Bauce Aso is probably the most overrated DB to EVER play the position in the NFL.

  • Bauce 2 Dope
