End 3rd qtr: Dolphins 23, Raiders 14
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Sunday, November 28th, 2010 at 3:23 pm in Oakland Raiders.
Third quarter notebook
– Miami picked on Walter McFadden one last time in the quarter on a 19-yard slant to Roberto Wallace, putting Miami at the Oakland 41 to open the fourth quarter.
Nnamdi Asomugha was doubled over on the sideline with an unspecified injury or condition.
– Bruce Gradkowski was late to see Jacoby Ford and then underthrew him at the goal line on a deep attempt, with Chris Clemons getting an interception in the end zone and giving Miami the ball at the 20.
— A second three and out for Raiders offense, drawing “boos’’ not “Bruuuce.’’ McFadden dumped for another loss. That’s six carries, minus-8 yards. Medium deep Gradkowski-to-Murphy play doesn’t connect.
To make matters worse, Davone Bess 47-yard punt return following a 48-yard punt sets up Miami again deep in Oakland territory.
They got no points when Dan Carpenter’s 50-yard field goal attempt was short.
— Miami has had great field position all day, and got it again to set up a 45-yard Carpenter field goal to go up 23-14. The Dolphins opened at the Oakland 44 after the Raiders punted out of their own end zone and Bess returned it to the 44.
– Raiders first possession _ three-and-out, and Gradkowski is lucky a second-and-10 forced throw to Darren McFadden was intercepted by linebacker Koa Misi.
— Bad start to second half _ Walter McFadden plays a routine out pattern to Marlon Moore into a 57-yard touchdown pass from Chad Henne. It’s a 72-yard drive in five plays and gives Dolphins a 20-14 lead.

Again. For about the tenth time today.

November 28th, 2010 at 3:25 pm
Grads finally lost me.
WTF!
Mcfadden single handedly losing game for our D.
November 28th, 2010 at 3:25 pm
Mcfadden might have potential but he’s killing us! first real game and he’s getting abused… and by Henne!!!
November 28th, 2010 at 3:25 pm
Yo, Nation. Be back with more thoughts tomorrow, I just wanted to get the drop on saying this: I haven’t changed my opinion on Campbell, but I have on Gradkowski. I’d acknowledged neither guy was “the guy” so to speak, but I thought Grads was the better option. I realize now there IS no good option. Both these guys suck. Flip a coin and take your pick how you want to lose, they each do it in different ways, but that’s the end result you’ll get against any half decent team.
November 28th, 2010 at 3:25 pm
I dont root against any Raider, but anyone who thinks Grads is better than JC is smoking crack! That throw was late, and should’ve never been thrown. I’ll take a careful, efficient qb thanks.
November 28th, 2010 at 3:25 pm
30:48 to 14:12 Not good. But the end score remains to be seen.

I think he thinks the only chance they have is to sack Henne, so they have to go all out and blitz.
So much for our dominant Dline, by the way. Two weeks in a row they’ve been completely out to lunch.

November 28th, 2010 at 3:26 pm
Miami’s QB is playing better than ours!!!
Miami’s defense is playing better than ours!!!
Miami’s coaches are coaching better than ours!!!!
But overall I will say that this is the WORST performance I have seen from Grads since he has been a Raider!
November 28th, 2010 at 3:26 pm

This is like the Arizona game. The other team is doing everything possible to lose the game and the Raiders can’t take advantage of it.
At least in that game we were in position to win with a last second field goal. All it takes is one TD and this game isn’t just a loss, it’s a blowout.

November 28th, 2010 at 3:32 pm

DHB is in and they dont even throw to him…
November 28th, 2010 at 3:32 pm
There is still hope, thanks to Jacoby Ford.
November 28th, 2010 at 3:32 pm
Ford needs to talk to the whole team about effort and giving it your all. This kids never quits brings it every play. A solid lesson for the Raiders today.
November 28th, 2010 at 3:32 pm

November 28th, 2010 at 3:34 pm

November 28th, 2010 at 3:34 pm

November 28th, 2010 at 3:35 pm

Cmon D, you know there just gonna run it.
November 28th, 2010 at 3:38 pm
Since the 1970s, the object of the game on offense has been to put yourself in a position to convert on 3rd down. You can take shots occasionally, and work the deep ball if they’re giving it to you, but otherwise, the object is to get to 3rd and short. You can’t do that when you’re forcing nothing but 10 plus yard plays.
November 28th, 2010 at 3:38 pm
Boller should retire tomorrow. If he can’t get on the field with the two bums in front of him he ought to give it up.

All I know is I don’t want to read sh!t about Grads being better then anyone. Our QB’s suck equally. Right now I say Boller gives us the best chance to win, he is far more accurate on deep throws. KC taking command of the west, we once again are back to our old sorry a$$ selves again.

November 28th, 2010 at 3:51 pm
For all our speed the WR can’t get away from coverage. This team isn’t anywhere near what we thought it was. I think they are better, but that’s not saying much.
November 28th, 2010 at 3:51 pm
OK MR, I opened my eyes and see it.
This crap is Al Davis’ fault. We get outcoached just about every game and we can’t counter because Al hired the assistants before the Head Coach. He hires coaches without the input of the head guy and that’s our biggest problem. Our coaches barely even know each other.
November 28th, 2010 at 3:51 pm
So, who’s the next coach?
In a happy world: Gruden or Harbaugh.
In actuality? Jim Fassel or Kevin Gilbride.
God help us all.

Come on man! Even for you, that is a stretch. You can blame Al signing two crap QBs and drafting DHB, but this game was not lost because of the game plan.

This team doesn’t deserve to play in front of sold out crowds.
We suck and our heads got to big after a win streak. We are not even close at competing at the next level. I’m die hard, wear the shield on my sleeve (tattoo) but I have completely lost faith in this unit. I will always support my team but this is getting ridiculous. No coaching, marginal talent at positions of great need. With the names on this team and draft status we should be way better then we have been showing.

November 28th, 2010 at 4:00 pm
Man this is the most disappointing loss all season hands down. This one miserable performance completely wipes out any positives the RAIDERS had established to date.In 2 games we have managed to completely become unraveled as a team and all the old questions come creeping back.
MAN THIS SUCKS!
November 28th, 2010 at 4:00 pm
I don’t think our season is over.. we do actuall have a chance if SD and KC falter.. but we need JC or Boller.. We need a hard nose Coach next year. like Cowher. unlikely but that’s the kind of coach we need
November 28th, 2010 at 4:00 pm
Gradkowski’s 58.8 QB rating is actually four times better than Campbell’s game in SF and twice that of his in Pittsburgh.
Bruce isn’t any good, but at his worst (today) is nothing like Campbell at his worst.
November 28th, 2010 at 4:00 pm
Oops, forgot the second half of my thought:
That means we’ll at least have stability at the QB position, even if the guy is less than talented.

November 28th, 2010 at 4:00 pm
Having the ref to block for Miami helped them too on that play.smh

Keep Gradkowski, use a better offensive gameplan. We were pushing the ball all day. Then, the irony is, when we needed quick points at the end, suddenly then we start using more high percentage passing plays to move the chains. The coaches obviously made a deal with Al that they could start Gradkowski as long as they didn’t ditch the vertical.

But when Ford bails Grads out of a crappy pass today it’s “That proves Bruce sucks, Ford shouldn’t have had to take it away”
Grads haters are just as blind as the lovers.

I’m saying Gradkowski sucks, he obviously proved it today.
But Campbell sucks too. Obviously, because they watched Bruce all year and still chose him, lol
November 28th, 2010 at 4:06 pm
Al sabotaged Gradkowski. Forced the coaches to use the archaic game plan today. I saw nothing on offense all day today to get us to 3rd and short, which is what you have to have in today’s league. We just forced the ball all day. No QB could have pulled it off. Al pulled an old corporate managerial move today. He put an employee he doesn’t want into a position where he was destined to fail, so that he could point to it on his review.

3. The def was to rattled in the first half
4. walter Mcfadden should be on the practice squad
5. nnamdi was not 100% and it showed
6. where was Z miller at????
7. Ford is gonna be a star in this league( he single handledly contributed to every pt we scored)
