End 3rd qtr: Dolphins 23, Raiders 14

Third quarter notebook

— Miami picked on Walter McFadden one last time in the quarter on a 19-yard slant to Roberto Wallace, putting Miami at the Oakland 41 to open the fourth quarter.

Nnamdi Asomugha was doubled over on the sideline with an unspecified injury or condition.

— Bruce Gradkowski was late to see Jacoby Ford and then underthrew him at the goal line on a deep attempt, with Chris Clemons getting an interception in the end zone and giving Miami the ball at the 20.

— A second three and out for Raiders offense, drawing “boos’’ not “Bruuuce.’’ McFadden dumped for another loss. That’s six carries, minus-8 yards. Medium deep Gradkowski-to-Murphy play doesn’t connect.

To make matters worse, Davone Bess 47-yard punt return following a 48-yard punt sets up Miami again deep in Oakland territory.

They got no points when Dan Carpenter’s 50-yard field goal attempt was short.

— Miami has had great field position all day, and got it again to set up a 45-yard Carpenter field goal to go up 23-14. The Dolphins opened at the Oakland 44 after the Raiders punted out of their own end zone and Bess returned it to the 44.

— Raiders first possession _ three-and-out, and Gradkowski is lucky a second-and-10 forced throw to Darren McFadden was intercepted by linebacker Koa Misi.

— Bad start to second half _ Walter McFadden plays a routine out pattern to Marlon Moore into a 57-yard touchdown pass from Chad Henne. It’s a 72-yard drive in five plays and gives Dolphins a 20-14 lead.

    Whats the Score?

  • SilverNBlackPA

Who’s bright f-ing idea was it to deactivate Jeremy Ware anyway?

A hobbled Nnamdi is forced to play now and whatever injury he has is only gonna get worse because of it.

  • morilla

    McFadden, wow….

  • Born with a Patch

    I’m livid right now

  • olinesux

    damn mcfadden really sux

    SilverNBlackPA Says:

Not gonna defend Grads too much, he’s made some awful decisions, but his yards/attempt is 9.6.

Most of that is inflated by YAC. If memory serves me correctly – and I have had a few drinks – that awesome catch by Ford taking away the INT is the only deep completion today.

  • Just Fire Baby

    Needed 7 last time.

That 3rd down incompletion was our death nail

  • Guy

now its a 2 posession game

  • olinesux

  • mikedlopes

All those highlights of Devon Bess were against Walter McFadden

  • SilverNBlackPA

I know Jeremy Ware is no great shakes, but Walter McFadden is doing an excellent Najee Mustafaa impression

    Game over

  • That might as well be the game. Thanks for the leather helmet game plan, Al.

    death nail?

  • 8RaiderReign8

Welp….time to talk qb’s in the draft.

  • morilla

    That’s it folks.

  • Raiderbuck

Raiders secondary is getting exposed – they can’t seem to adjust to the game.

  • Born with a Patch

Nnamdi on the sideline… we have nothing

  • olinesux

    please oh please fire cable

  • Omfg! This team is just flat out quitting!
Ford is playing as a 1 man team, defense can’t stop sh!t!

  • KC’s winning, too. Season possibly over.

  • Born with a Patch

    Turnover!!!! we need one D!!!!!

  • D is gassed…

  • mikedlopes

we still have 3 timeouts.. love it

  • StayinBlack

Cable has taken this team as far as he could.

  • This is all on Al Davis.

  • Just Fire Baby

  • ArmChair GM

    Our defense has given up.

So has Al. Until he retires, nothing will change.

  • RaidingTexas

Over 6 minutes taken off the clock with that drive.

  • turner42

that was a pitiful showing by the D after a score.

  • mikedlopes

They’re thinking about saving time with 4 min in the 4th.. even the time out coordinator is out of sync. we just let them walk 6 mins off the clock.

  • kidseven

Kyle Boller gives us the best chance to win.

  • 504 Raider

It’s over with that Sparano fist slam, Gruden style.

Yep. I think Cable has changed the culture somewhat and helped these guys believe in themselves, but he’s not an X’s and O’s type and that’s what this relatively young team needs: someone to teach and scheme. Cable is not good at that.

  • Sucks.

  • Born with a Patch

How bad is Chris Johnson’s injury? Jeremy Ware? anybody have any idea?

  • Just Fire Baby

    Miami is a good team.

Not sure why everyone was so confidant this week.

I will have way more confidence when we play SD next week in a victory.

Miami is the exact type of physical, ball-control, well coached team that has whupped on us for the last decade

  • Sparano’s excited.

  • 39:34 to 16:23 Better hope Miami doesn’t touch the ball again.

  • davidon

    “Monkeys in Raider attire” LOL

  • los9091

This would be a completely different posetion if we had a TD instead of a FG on our last posetion.

    Thanks Grad.

  • All I know is I don’t want to read sh!t about Grads being better then anyone. Our QB’s suck equally. Right now I say Boller gives us the best chance to win, he is far more accurate on deep throws. KC taking command of the west, we once again are back to our old sorry a$$ selves again.

  • zopi

Any thoughts of a winning season should be over if they don’t rally.
And unless is another Ford kickoff run, I can’t see Gradkz pulling this game.
Maybe Campbell is worst, but that bad, yikes.
Walter McFadden should get the loser game ball, he’s that bad.

  • Guy

Unless we somehow beat SD, 8-8 is probably the best possible record and will be something to build on through the draft and FA.

This loss is on injured dbs, awful QB play, and only having one wr.

  • We should have beaten the snot out of this team.WTF is going on?
