Gradkowski having MRI

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Monday, November 29th, 2010 at 10:15 am in Oakland Raiders.

Raiders quarterback Bruce Gradkowski is having an MRI today and fears bad news, a source familiar with the situation said Monday.

Gradkowski has been battling a shoulder problem since Week 3 against Arizona, ultimately going down with a third degree separation just before halftime of a 35-27 win over San Diego on Oct. 10. He missed the next five games, returning to start and play ineffecitvely in a 33-17 loss to Miami.

Following the game, Gradkowski left the field carrying his right arm awkwardly after being hit on the Raiders final play from scrimmage.

“It’s just tough. You always gott stay optimistic,” Gradkowski said following the game. “You don’t want that to happen but it’s always a fear of yours. As a quarterback, it’s hard. It’s your right shoulder and a third-degree separation is not the greatest thing to have on your throwing shoulder. Whatever I have to do to get right, I will.”

More to come . . .

    Luck is not coming here. He’s probably the #1 overall and a lock for the top 3. With a rookie pay scale coming in the next CBA, there’s not even a cause for a team to trade back for financial reasons because they won’t be paying him an exorbitant salary.

    Besides, the Raiders couldn’t provide an adequate package to move up that far, regardless, short of pulling a Ricky Williams type draft day trade. And that would be stupid.

    I agree, the guy is “the truth” as DMac says, but he is not going to be a Raider this April.

    Pitt can make any qb look bad.

    ++++++++++++++++

    They didn’t make Joe Flacco, Drew Brees or Tom Brady look all that bad.

    Flacco: 24 of 37 for 256 yards 1 TD, 1 INT

    Brees: 34 of 44 for 305 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT

    Brady: 30 of 43 for 350 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT
    ===========================================================

    What do all three have in common? They have all been in the same offense for more than one year. They all have had better pass protection than us.

    These 3 games dont take away from the well establish fact hat pitts blitz package is one of the best in the league and they take apart a lot of passing offenses year in year out.

    Nice try but you cant pin the pitt game on our qbs’

    In defending Campbell, you said Pitt could “make any qb look bad.” I pointed out 3 QBs that looked pretty damn good against Pittsburgh. So they clearly can’t make “any” QB look bad. Good QBs can succeed. Ours aren’t, I repeat.

  • http://www.aldavissucks.blogspot.com The Real MaddenRaider

    No QB is coming here without their agent holding Al’s balls to the fire, a la Russell. They know the deal in Oakland. No QB will come here unless he knows he’s getting P A I D, for real. Because there’s nothing else with the Raiders. You’re not going to win. It’s going to be nothing but humiliation as you get thrown into a chaotic system, and you’ll be the first one scapegoated.

    Mistic,

    YOU’RE the one who said “Out side of that game [Seattle] DHB and murphy have been about even”

    So I looked at the numbers of the games “outside that game” and showed that Murphy is far more productive than DHB could ever hope to be.

    So, no, the production is not “about the same” as you say.
    ===========================================================

    Im afraid the difference between the two has been negligible. Not nearly enough evidence to suggest in any way that scale tips in favor of murphy.

    I only isolated the seattle game in fairness to murphy, he doesnt have anything that approaches dhb’s performance in the seattle game.

    Numbers dont tell the whole story, my eys tell me he is dropping as many if not more passes, and making more mistakes than dhb.

    You no.7 has to play, especially when the other guys have done nothing to make a case for playing over dhb. None except ford that is.

    This argument fails to stand the test of reason.
    Saying that team “can make any qb look bad”, is not the same as saying they ” will or do make every qb look bad”.

    Very few defenses in nfl history can make that claim, and i certainly haven’t elevated this years pitt defense to that level.

    To expect any defense to shut down every single qb in every single game for an entire season isnt very realistic.

  • http://www.aldavissucks.blogspot.com The Real MaddenRaider

    Tony, it’s only a game because Grads throws that TD pass to Ford. Campbell would have slipped and threw the ball into the dirt on that play. Grads was set back by a horrible game plan, and that was the problem. He’s a WCO QB and we have WCO plays in our playbook. We used the vertical instead, per Al’s insistence. He set Grads up. The scumbag.

  • http://www.aldavissucks.blogspot.com The Real MaddenRaider

    A.B. Paine, the QB performance was fine, it was the offensive gameplan that sucked. Why do you call nothing but vertical plays with a WCO QB? To set him up to fail. Al Davis is scum. He deserves nothing but hell on earth until he finally leaves it. And he’s getting it, year after year, week after week.

  • SilverNBlackPA

    Oh for god’s sake.

    Murphy vs. STL: 6 catches, 91 yards, 1 TD
    vs. Arizona: 5 catches, 119 yards
    vs. Miami: 4 catches, 73 yards

    Look, mistic, let me explain myself here so maybe you understand better. I’m not defending Murphy as an amazing receiver. He’s mediocre at best, but I believe he can get better with better coaching. That’s neither here nor there right now, though.

    What I am arguing with you about is that Murphy, despite his many flaws, is twice the receiver DHB is. Murphy is dropping twice as many balls as DHB, you say? Maybe because he can at least get separation enough to get some passes thrown his way. Can’t drop passes if you’re not targeted and you’re not gonna be targeted if you can’t get away from coverage. That’s DHB. Murphy has shown enough ability to make me think he can be salvaged, or at least be a useful 3rd/4th reciever. DHB has shown nothing except that he can run fast when he doesn’t have pads on.

    I’m also not arguing that Gradkowski is any great shakes. In fact, I admitted I was wrong. I just wish you could do the same and admit Campbell sucks too.

  • YoungAmerican

    If the Raiders want Luck it’s going to take a ridiculous trade package that will, at the very least, include next year’s first round pick, probably the second round pick as well, Nnamdi Asomugha, and maybe this year’s second round pick.

    Think about what the Bears gave up in the Jay Cutler trade, and then realize that the Broncos didn’t even really want Jay Cutler.

    I think Luck is the real deal, but is it worth giving up the picks it would take to put an offensive line and good WRs around him?

    Only if Al Davis manages to bring in (and overpay) a ton of guys in free agency would that be a legitimate option. If Al went out and got Vincent Jackson, Harvey Dahl, Jared Gaither, a legit starting center (not sure who would even be available), and THEN still re-signed Seymour, Miller, and Gallery… well, it would take no small miracle.

  • http://www.aldavissucks.blogspot.com The Real MaddenRaider

    Thank you Bruce Gradkowski for at least making it somewhat of a game yesterday. It’s just too bad Cable couldn’t stand up to Al and use a WCO playbook for you. If he had, we’d have won. Period. Thanks, Al.
