aig-good news. here’s another blank jersey. might as well have 4. it’s not like you can be a bigger doofus.
good news is it’s less than 20, which is half of what you pay at 40.
is today your lucky day, or what?

Maybe Jerry and his ‘pot smoke buddy’ Kawakami are out having a good laugh at Cable’s expense…
Tom is looking like quite the fool these days,
he seems to ‘outthink’ himself on a regular basis these last 4 weeks, from the fake punt agaist KC, to the QB mystery, running wildcat against Miami, after they had run it on us successfully, all seems so DESPERATE!…
November 29th, 2010 at 3:01 pm

How in the hell was this team 2nd in the league in rushing after 10 weeks at 156 ypg? Now they can’t even open up a sliver to run through. Can’t even get back to the line of scrimmage?
————————–
My guess is that, after the 3-game win streak, Al Davis tried to big-foot the credit for it. There were 2 national stories on him prior to the Pitt game. And the “Leak” he wanted Campbell to play came out.
He became enamoured with new toy Jacoby Ford. In the Pitt game, they returned to conservative play-calling with deep-sideline passes, to no avail. (Davis style)
The Miami game 16 rushing plays, with again, emphasis on Jacoby Ford, deep.
Now there’s counter-productive controversy in the locker rm about the back and forth QB situation, and who’s the boss.

Wow…like MR said, that press conference was entertaining to say the least..
I applaud Jerry for calling out Cable like that on the QB issue. Cable started pouting and getting sarcastic, like a mini version of a Mike Singletary press conference meltdown, lol…
Good Work Jerry! We’re tired of Cable’s bull crap!
November 29th, 2010 at 3:09 pm
Rich is that you?
November 29th, 2010 at 3:09 pm
Cable is drowning and is about to be put out of his misery. davis more than likely is waiting to see if there will actually be football in 2011, but when ever footbll resumes after this off season, cable will not be a part of the show.
From press conference melt downs to meeting room/ and bedroom beat downs, he has been a complete joke. He went all in yesterday desperate after pitt pathetic o-line performance. Starting players that werent healthy, deactivating guys that were healthy. Worst of all starting grads over campbell. Grads looked like rusty hilger out there.
Cable has more than a few shorts in his cord, and he failed to win.
November 29th, 2010 at 3:11 pm
Cable flat out LIED! And normally I applaud him for being a stand up guy.
Now Cable’s saying that he said all along that Grads would start when he was HEALTHY!
Yet, during the bye week, when asked about the QB situation, he said that Jason had EARNED the right to start and that he believed in riding the hot hand…
Grads was healthy last week. That’s why he played in the second half. Yet after the game, Cable clearly said that Campbell would start!
Cable is on his way out. I can feel it. Al Davis is getting his projector out of the closet as we speak, lol!
November 29th, 2010 at 3:12 pm
If Jerry had any ballz, he go after the real perpetrator the lying that went on last week. Al Davis.
All that counter-productive Raider intrigue nonsense is Al Davis.
November 29th, 2010 at 3:14 pm
Cable is pissing me off big time. Horrible o-line play, games with the QB’s, questionable coaching decisions, etc…
He got his shot, and was doing some really good things, but if the Raiders don’t make the playoffs this season, after being in 1st place with a bye week to prepare and get healthy, his butt is toast after this season.
A couple more blowout losses, and I doubt he makes it to the end of the season…
November 29th, 2010 at 3:14 pm
Seems like we don’t scheme well against the 3/4 defenses and that should be something that hue is accustomed too…could Cable be being set up to fail?
Or is he just doing it all by himself?

November 29th, 2010 at 3:17 pm
Davis has HIS 3 SB rings and Yellow Jacket already.
He couldn’t care less about his players getting one. Its’s a graveyard for players.
November 29th, 2010 at 3:18 pm
cable walks off interview? What happened to all the garbage about being accountable. Davis allowed cable to make his own bed with the qb situation, and cable pissed in it. Now he wants to dodge the issue. This is an outrage.
A leader can be wrong, but he must be accountable. then he must learn from his mistakes and not repeat them.
Benching campbell in pitt failed to yield any results. cable then repeated and made the error worse by benching Campbell again for this game.
His obvious yet strange fixation on grads has cost them both a career.
He is now being exposed as a weasel, and a sub par coach.

Tony
If you’re smart enough, you’d know that Jamarcus Russell is being sold for $35. You get a tool from walmart for $2 and strip his number. Then you buy a set for #9 and there you go with your new 92 jersey at $75 vs paying $200 with nfl.com. Or you can buy a Lamont Jordan 34 for an extra $20 and take his name off. Consider this a free education but I doubt you’re smart enough to decipher between a Chinese knockoff and a real jersey.
AB,
You said you only have 1 jersey and it’s a Ronnie Lott right? He’s not even a real Raider you dumba$$. But that pretty much says a whole lot about you though doestn it. The only jersey you choose to have is a hardcore 49ers, who is in the HoF as a Niner. Nice one genius.

Jason Cambpell not starting was a big mistake but we probably lose with him playing the way Bess was wide open all day and the way Hue Jack insisted on calling pass pass pass with a hurt or just weak armed qb. We should be better because of it. We can’t give up on the run. We need Nnamdi to man up. We need our oline to regain win streak form. We need pass rush to regain the form they’ve had most of the year. Let’s see if we can rebound

Don’t get the hate on the O-line still. It is all on the QB.
As opposed to the Campbell guys who love to blame anything and everything on something else but him, I say our O-line had NOTHING to do with Bruce’s sub-par game yesterday. That’s right NOTHING.
Miami basically went out and made Hue, Bruce and our inexperienced WR’s beat them, and they failed. Not much an O-line can do when they are sending 6,7,8 guys at the LOS each play. A few screens worked, but not enough short, move the chain type plays were called or executed to get the job done.
The deep pass on the sideline to Ford was just awful. No way should Bruce ever think he could make that play, and no way should Hue ever think that Bruce could make that play. WTF were both of them thinking? It was 20-14 and 1st and 10 after two of our only successful runs equaled a much needed first. Bruce should have tucked it and run, Hue should have called the play-action but a different route. Talk about not knowing your personnel!!!
I never blamed the O-line for Campbell’s issues, and I won’t blame the O-line for Bruce’s either. The QB is making them look awful by not being able to make defenses pay for consistantly crowding the LOS.
November 29th, 2010 at 3:33 pm

***********************************
QB rating is fairly simple, you lose points for bad things and gain points for good things.
Top 3 QB ratings in the NFL: Rivers, Vick, Brady.
Pretty hard to argue those aren’t the 3 best QB’s in the NFL.
Worst 3 QB ratings: Jimmy Clausen, Bruce, Derek Anderson
Pretty hard to argue those aren’t the 3 worst QB’s in the NFL.
I say QB rating is the most accurate measure of a QB’s value, outside of W-L

Just fire…You’re only looking at One aspect of the offensive line. Pass protection.
The O-line is responsible for run blocking too, and they are the single biggest reason that D Mcfadden had absolutely no holes to run through on Sunday. None!
The linebackers were 3 yards behind the line of scrimmage by the time DMac touched the ball.
Their pass protection was ok, but their run blocking was NONEXISTANT!
The O-line is INCONSISTENT! That equals terrible in this league, especially when your offense is centered around the run.

JFB,
the o-line’s run blocking was horrific yesterday and last week. the pass protection last week was non existent as the steelers blitz us back to three rivers stadium.
However this week grads got decent pass protection, but he whiffed with no pressure on him. he was under a pass rush or blitz at all. However he badly he under threw passes, and was wildly off target.
You are right you cant blame pass protection for grads abysmal performance.
November 29th, 2010 at 3:43 pm
Armchair,
I have no problem admitting Grad sucked and Ford made the numbers looked better than it really should. The only good throw Grad made was that TD pass to Ford. That was a good pass by the QB and great catch and run by Ford.
I still like Grad. I saw his post game presser and he was accountable for his mistakes rather than listening to JC saying “it was one of those days”. However, where I may differ with a lot of people is I dont think Grad was 100% yesterday. I have a hunch his shoulder really needs surgery. Even 10 yard passes didnt have any zip to them.
It’s really sobering to be pulled back into reality with regards to our season.

Never going to happen. You can brink back Art Shell, Gene Upshaw and Jim Otto, and with Bruce Campbellkowski playing QB, they would look like fools.
Defenses don’t even care if we throw the ball. Why do you think everyone on Miami’s defense followed the play-action on the end zone INT and left Ford wide open for a minute?
Because they knew no way in hell Bruce could make that throw. Everyone on this blog, on Miami’s defense and the stands knew, except Hue and Bruce.

I personally think W/L record is not that significant for a QB. Kinda like W/L record for a pitcher. You have to depend on the defense and spec team to hold their end of the bargain. I think QB rating, yds per reception and turnover ratios are much more accurate measurements like ERA and walks for a pitcher.

Yeah that TD play to Ford,
The pass was thrown before Ford made his cut and put in the only place Ford could get it. I have to admit I initially thought it was an overthrow but man Ford is a beast.
The only way Bruce can beat you is by being on time. He doesnt have the arm strength to offset being late.
November 29th, 2010 at 3:54 pm
QB rating is like WHIP for pitchers.
The most pertinant measure of what THEY are doing.
I do think that W-L for a QB is very important, because of the leadership that a QB must provide.
Same as a HC.
November 29th, 2010 at 3:55 pm
What kind of play? The kind of play that works?
It’s all about execution. The fact is this team was outperformed again. The run blocking was terrible. The QB made a lot of questionable decisions. When basic things like that go wrong, it’s pretty hard to open up the play book.
November 29th, 2010 at 3:56 pm
JFB,
You make a half way convincing argument about the Oline.
Jerry mentioned the coaches acknowledging the pass protection issues as a reason to go with Gardowski instead of Camplunkk.
I’m talking about run plays where one of our guys is on the ground or in the backfield. I’m talking about pass protection where guys are running free at the QB.
Too many times this happens and has been happening. Especially from Carlisle and Satele.

That’s how you slow down a pass-rush and open up the running game, by beating it, not blaming the O-lineman and throwing a bunch of draft picks at the issue.
Should have been more calls for those type of plays.
===========================================================
there were plenty of passes that could have defeated the pedestrian pass rush from the dolphins, grads missed on them.
He missed even with zero pressure, he flat out sucked. he has the arm of a prepubescent girl.

This team is still lacking some of the basic pieces that it takes to consistently win in this league. I don’t think there was any questioning that going into this season.
The disappointing thing is that they DO show flashes of dominance occasionally.
But everything has to go right for them. The QB needs to make the right decisions. The offensive line has to stand up to pressure. The offense needs to sustain drives so the defense isn’t on the field for 80% of the game (which is exceptionally difficult when you play mostly man-to-man schemes). The defense needs to play disciplined football. The coaches need to make the right adjustments at the half. When one or more of these parts of the team doesn’t work, the team seems to fall apart. They still can’t seem to compensate for their deficiencies.
They’ve made strides, but some new blood needs to come aboard to consistently play the kind of football they intend on playing. Truthfully, I don’t know if it’s coaches, players or both. But it seems like they’re close, so let’s just hope they can win a few more games this season, and make the right adjustments in the off-season.

So the rumors have Gruden going to the Niners as HC next year. Does anyone else have a problem with this? I certainly do. Chuck is a Raider at heart and if anyone should be HC here in Oakland, it should be Gruden.

The Ford catch for a TD was a great throw under pressure. you are joking right?
the ford catch was a great catch and run by ford..grad threw the ball ten yards at best..grad stunk up the place all day. you can spin it any way you like, it might change your mind. it won’t change the facts.

Perhaps the biggest problem Campbell is facing is that we only gave up a 4th rounder for him. If we paid as much for him as KC gave up for Cassell than perhaps he wouldn’t have to face silly secretive benchings for a guy of Gradkoski’s caliber.
In other words, doesn’t anyone else realize that it takes time for a QB to gel with a new OC, WR’s, & linemen. The real question is, if given time, can Campbell & this offense develop the way Cassell & the KC offense has blossomed this year.
I for one am interested in finding out before we panic and throw the whole thing to the scrap heap and start over with a new coach, new QB, or mortgage our entire future for Andrew Luck – even though he may be that good.

[...] So what will it take for Cable to keep his job at the end of the year? A record of 7-9 would be the minimum. If they fall to 6-10 he’s out according to Jerry McDonald of the Oakland Tribune. [...]
