Johnson, Branch sitting it out

Cornerback Chris Johnson was not present as practice began after warmups and drills Wednesday, while safety Tyvon Branch was talking wtih trainer Rod Martin and did not appear to be practicing.

Johnson missed the Miami game with a groin strain, and Branch has a shoulder injury.

Everyone else was present, and that included wide receiver Chaz Schilens (foot, knee), cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha (ankle), tight end Zach Miller (leg contusion) and even Bruce Gradkowski (separated shoulder).

It remains to be seen which players will actually practice and how much. Gradkowski was doing little more than jogging through drills that didn’t include the throwing of a football.

    crap! we need more DB’s!

Chaz was able to lace his shoes up without tearing anything?

as reported back in May, Chaz will be ready by Week 16 … just in time for the playoffs!

  • DMAC

Zach Miller (foot) participated in Raiders practice Wednesday.
The Raiders’ decision to practice Miller on a Wednesday when he’s been totally ineffective while playing through the injury and also aggravating it is a head-scratcher to say the least. It looks like the plan is for Miller to face San Diego. He’s still not going to be a fantasy option.

    DMAC,
The dropoff from Z Miller to Myers is such a gaping hole they just keep shoving him out there.

  • RaiderRockstar

Nnamdi & Zach were both at far less than 100 percent against Miami … probably closer to 50 and it really showed

keep N21 on the shelf this week. We got Legadoo & Seyi anyways. Next week we’ll have Mike Thomas, Mike Sims-Walker & Marcedes Lewis!

  • DMAC

Don’t be surprised if Chaz, dislocates his finger scratching his azz on the sidelines at practice.
    Just sayin.

  • fingers

We need DB’s that can make a play…. And a huge pass rush….
The Raiders have to get in Rivers face…he’s playing very well … Gut check time…..
Let’s see who wants to play….

  • DMAC

    I agree RR

  • DMAC

They should of never been on the field last week.

  • RaiderRockstar

    DMAC,

right now it would take Zmiller 11 minutes to run a mile … still 2 minutes better than JaMarcus :P

  • Mistabrown

    RR,
When #21 was in street clothes CJ was out there filling in admirably while also injured so #21 can suck it up and put on his ballerina shoes dont you think?

    This is a hilarious post.

now here is the deal, cable has been putting these guys on the shelf lately. he plans to break them out this week. the reason for all this bs? he didn’t want san diego to have recent film..

  • DMAC

Why no use Reece as a extra TE or WR. It’s not like it will affect the run game w/ him not playing FB.

  • DMAC

    *not

  • No Mas Diamante

As much as I hate Rivers, I sure wish he was our QB. Wow, did I just say that?

  • DMAC

I’ll take a Jon Kitna right about now, over JC etc.

Nnamdi was about as useful on the field last Sunday as he was the previous week mouthing off to Rich Gannon on Sirius radio about the QB “controversy”

    RR,
Be with you in a moment still correcting my typos.

  • Mistabrown

#21 was on Sirius radio while injured talking about the Qb’s? That is FANTASTIC!

Did Gannon bring up his lifetime stats of 8 years?
    11-Career INT’s
    1- Career TD

  • 100PercentRaider

Much more important for CJ to play than Branch, Mitchell should play instead of him on passing downs anyways. We need all the corners we can have this week, or WMac will have an even worse time this sunday

  • Mistabrown

“Well R Gannon was never any good and he was a white Qb so I couldn’t care less about that derolic….period”

If Branch can’t go, who steps in? MM?
If Nnamdi can’t go, who steps in? Ware, Mcfadden?
    Would rather go w/ Ware.

  • fingers

Don’t like Rivers either but the guys playing out of this world right now…the Pass rush has to get to him early so he’s thinking about it all game long….it’s gonna take Choker mistakes to get a win down there…..

  • 89052RAIDER

    Mista,
Back off TJ, because, for a man(or)woman with Down’s Syndrome, he is exceptionally high functioning. He can polish a urinal with remarkable efficiency and grace.

  • Mistabrown

    lol

  • RaiderRockstar

    DMAC,

if Nnamdi is already practicing on Wednesday … he’ll play on Sunday, barring a setback

I hope he’s matched up with Floyd though, who is battling an injured hammy. too bad the Raiders lock him on 1 side of the field and Rivers isn’t afraid to go after him!

Huff will probably be in the slot covering SD’s 3rd WR – seeing how both rookie CB faired the past 2 weeks

that means more snaps for Stevie Brown & Mike Mitchell, even if Tyvon is good to go by then

  • RaiderRockstar

    Raiders injury scenario:

usually if a player can practice by Friday or Saturday, even on a limited basis – they’ll be active on Gameday

they even tested Nnamdi on Sunday morning before the Steelers game to see if he was ready, but he wasn’t (probably still isn’t)

  • SilverAndBlackBleeder

Waddup fellas – Finally got to see a game from the official black hole section in the south side of the end zone on Sunday…unfortunately we played terrible, but had a good time nonetheless sitting amongst the hundreds of drunk Raider faithful….The opening kickoff return by Ford was probably my greatest live Raider fan moment ever. Being opening kickoffs already have everyone on their feet with the anxiety of the game starting coupled with Ford busting loose down the middle had us going BONKERS! Had a great time….it was good to be amongst ya’ll.

Now, about those terribly under-thrown picks by Grads….good grief….that performance definitely made the 6 hour ride back down to SoCal a lot longer….

Did Bess look as good on TV?…hot damn, live, he looked like Jerry Rice against McFadden, Routt and (gulp) Nnamdi…No one could stop that kid….

  • 89052RAIDER

Is any team receiving less in return for huge salaries than the raiders? DHB, Namdi, T. Kelly are stealing based on production. DHB is getting nearly 1 million per catch and Namdi..Well…when has he ever made a game changing play?

  • DMAC

Has Ware really been that bad?
I thought he played fairly well, w/ limited action + being a rookie
Did give up the TD in Pitts, but who hasn’t given up a TD this year.

  • 100PercentRaider

MB, who would you say is the best CB in the NFL? Revis has 0 interceptions this year also, is he bad also? Or is he just starting to get Nnamdi treatmet?

  • 89052RAIDER

Namdi is badly under-performing his contract and his first few years were just plain awful. He is a fine player, but not worth having 16 Million in salary tied up for a below-average team.

  • olinesux

breakin news aftera light jog, chaz schilens dislocated his big toe. He seems pretty upset about it.

  • olinesux

nmamdi is the mvp of this team…

Jon Condo is the MVP of this team.

  • Mistabrown

Revis has something like 14 INT’s in his 3 or 4 yr career. #21 has 11 Int’s in 8 years. This year both Revis and #21 have none but Revis has been consistent throughout his career where #21 had about 6 of his 11 INT’s in 2006 alone, the rest of those years were empty.

Hard to say who the best DB is there are so many factors involved. I like both Cromartie’s, Revis, Bailey.

Bruce Davis is the MVP of this team

    ***********************

You’ve been drinking far too much of your own sauce. Stefan Wisnieski will be gone within the 1st 15 picks. We’ll be extremely fortunate if we can get Mike Pouncey for the center position when our pick comes up. He too will go late 1st round or early second round.

  • olinesux

yeah cuz int is how you measure a cb importance…deangelo hall for mvp!

  • LA to TheBay

Kaepernick’s got a lot of moxie. Loved that Nevada-Boise game. One of the better college games I’ve seen in a long while.

But I just can’t see Al drafting a spread option QB, even if Colin’s improved his passing this year, he’s a run-first guy.

  • McRaider5150

Anyone who says that N21 is stealing money doesn’t know much about the game of football. I some of the same people saying that about W24. He only went on to be Defensive player of the year.

N21 in only put into a position to take away 1 wr or one side of the field. he does that on a consistant bases.

In comparison, look at what W24 did when he was with us, same thing. Lack of INT is due to the lack of opportunity and defense that Al like to run.

  • LA to TheBay

I’d love to see Al draft Moore and install a WCO, but that’s not going to happen either.
