It’s O’Sullivan; Gradkowski to I.R.

Coach Tom Cable confirmed the signing of veteran quarteback J.T. O’Sullivan Thursday, as well as placing Bruce Gradkowski on the injured reserve list.

Cable said he wasn’t sure if Gradkowski would have surgery, but that there didn’t seem to be enough season left for him to make a comeback. Gradkowski was out five weeks after his initial third degree separation.

More to come . . .

If JC struggles you can bet your azz they’ll give Boller a shot. To bad Colt Brennan got in a car accident.

Well, let’s just say. It’s going to be fun to watch Jason Campbell this Sunday. I will be rooting for him. I will not be critical and start laughing my ass off when he looks like the Jason Campbell that he’s pretty much looked like his entire NFL career. And I’ll be right here, observing with my fellow Raider fans. It will be fun.

  • aig-raiders

Bruce was good for the Raiders. He allowed Al to get rid of Jawalrus. that in itself is better than having Al sticking with Jawalrus for another year. I’m thankful for his time with us and hope they get him back.

  • Just Fire Baby

Can’t imagine San Diego is going to let Jason just dink and dunk his way down the field like last game against them.

Getting 3rd and 14 conversions on a dumpoff pass to Mike Bush was just as ridiculous as when we let Darren Sproles do the same ish to us the season opener in 2009.

  • Just Fire Baby

If Jason Campbell’s career repeats itself, he will play well in a loss this weekend or maybe pull out a nice win, regress the next week, lay a Pitt-SF type stinker soon there after, than play pretty well as we play out the string.

  • http://www.aldavissucks.blogspot.com The Real MaddenRaider

You mean we have dink and dunk plays? We sure weren’t calling them last week. We were only putting in stuff for Bruce that required receivers to get separation 10 yards down field. Interesting.

  • http://www.aldavissucks.blogspot.com The Real MaddenRaider

Jason Campbell is the next Jim Plunkett, yet the Raiders are putting together a dink and dunk game plan for him?

I’m still having nightmares from being at that game. Damn, that one hurt being there in person and with my buddy whos a SD fan. The NFL stole that one from us when the Murphy TD was overturned!!!

    MR,

I can’t seem to find the video, but I have seen a segment on some NFL show about coaches and one of the featured coaches was Jon Gruden. They showed Gruden during practice just destroying some QB, the QB pissed him off so much he yanked him during drills and asked for someone that at least handle a snap….the QB he was all over….none other than Bruce Garbagekowski. Gruden knew then what we all know now….Garbagekowski is not an NFL QB.

  • raiderfankirk

I hope JC rips it up. They need to give him some help though. How about a couple deep routes running off coverage for the crossing routes under neath Hue?

  • socalraider2408

I remember a guy named Rich who used to dink n dunk with the best of them. It also helped that he had two HOF WR’s. Our best WR is a 4th round pick from Clemson

  • mistic1

face it bruce isnt very good. He is not starting material in the nfl. He is fragile and just doesnt have talent to play in this leauge. If he is lucky he will catch on a s 3rd string in the ufl next year. This was the the year the teachers pet could show what he can do, and he showe nothing short of absolute below average play.

This should not be a shock it is exactly wht the career numbers should have told you from the start.

Bruce stinks, and cable had to put him on ir in order to shut him up. Cable and grad flopped in the miami game, againn and humiliated themselves in the process. Bruce selfishly popped off that he could come back continuing to stir the contraversy. rather than suffer further humiliation Cable sent this weak armed turn over machine packing, along with his losing record.

I always read into these comments to see if other raider fans have any good insight apart from the talking heads, and occasionally comment if I feel like sharing my thoughts or am possibly drunk-blogging but lately this place has more hen-cackling than an oprah book club, acting like a bunch of bee-atches talking drama in the bathroom at the bar, useless name calling and ignorance. Out of respect for the team can we talk football once and awhile?

Raiders defense actually played very well against SD in the MNF opener in ’09, until they switched the prevent at the end. They used a cover 1 most of the game, which is the defense the Raiders should always use with their talent, and they just shut Rivers down. Then they want prevent, with 2 minutes on the clock and SD down by only 3. Thanks again, Al.

Except nobody called Rich the next “Jim Plunkett”. How do you call someone the next Jim Plunkett, then draw up an dink and dunk game plan for them? LOL.

    VR is 100% correct.

Campbell’s got the job and doesn’t have to worry about anyone breathing down his neck.

    ………………

Yeh, Campbell’s going to just light it up now…

We all hope so, even you apparently.

LA to TheBay = Jason Campbell’s biggest fan right now.

  • raidrum

I agree that a pressure defense is more effective

  • Just Fire Baby

Well the weirdness of the Raiders prevailed.

Team looking great heading into a bye, getting national recognition. Than what happens?

We come out flat against Pitt, pull the QB, and our star defensive player punches the QB and gets tossed. We follow that up with an awful no-show at home, with the weirdest QB handling I have seen in years and another loss.

Now coaches are taking shots at players, and vice versa and the Raider minions are giving players reverse espionage pointers when dealing with the media.

Really know how to handle a good thing don’t they? lol

Most teams don’t carry a 4th QB, so I doubt we’ll see him and Campbell on the same team again.

I dont think we are healthy enough at DB to play cover 1 on sunday. I really hope last sunday was just the rookie learning curve for W.McFadden. hes got alot of potential. last sunday was the first time hes seen that much action if im not mistaken

  • http://www.aldavissucks.blogspot.com The Real MaddenRaider

Dakota, Gruden drafted Gradkowski, and is hard on all quarterbacks. Maybe not Gannon, but that’s probably because Gannon was just about his age. It just wouldn’t have been dignified. Did you see those ESPN specials where Gruden was tutoring QBs? See him ripping that one kid for his southern accent, saying that nobody in the huddle could understand him? That’s Gru’s style. You’re reaching. And, again, he drafted Gradkowski.

  • raiderfankirk

Dakota he drafted him and kept him thinking he was garbage? C’mon man. lmao

Oh, LAtotheBay, I’m definitely hoping Campbell lights it up. I’ll be in here rooting for him the whole game. And I promise, I will not make fun of him or the people shilling for him right now if he turns out to suck, like he has just about his entire career. I’m pulling for him.

    LMAO

Bruce will be collecting an NFL paycheck next year, you can book that.

Most of the 3rd string QB’s in the UFL didn’t even play division I football, better yet in the NFL.

    I am CELEBRATING!!
I am glad they put Grads on IR. Now he can concentrate on healing properly. There was no way in hell he was going to have his second third degree separated shoulder healed with games to play. He would of pushed his shoulder attempted to play, and received his third, third degree separation.
Now the musical chair QB game can come to an end. What a freaking distraction rotating QB’s was becoming.

  • raiderfankirk

Socal he sure did. The ironic thing his Gannon and Bruce were both hurt the same way. Trying to take on a line backer. Fortunatly Bruce has a chance to learn from it.

  • jmeds

We need to stay healthy the rest of the way to get to 8-8 for the year. I want improvement. Al Davis needs to let go already. His vision and ways are suited for the 70′s-80′s, but not today’s advanced game. Advanced, I’m talking preperation, technology, etc. We have all that, but have a 80 year old owner acting as GM. I mean really, look around. All respect to Al Davis, but if you are unable to make trips with the team physically, you are unable to be the GM. Get over it!!!!

  • Njraider333

What’s the best part of not having a first round pk? You can pursue a first round caliber player in fa! We need a qb in the worst way.

Ok we know the first 2 won’t hit the market but let’s see who’s available.

Would love to hear Raider Nations thoughts on who they like. Or is their someone to trade for ? Kitna, Rosenfels!

    Top Quarterbacks

Peyton Manning, IND – There’s nothing to discuss here. Manning will stay in Indianapolis. It’s just a matter of getting the numbers ironed out.

Tom Brady, NE – Like Manning, there’s little doubt about Brady. Belichick has a little more volatility in his decision-making and more reliance in his system, but barring a major shocker, Brady will remain in New England.

Brett Favre, MIN – Favre is always a wildcard every offseason, but his contract will officially expire after season’s end. Another good year would grant him the opportunity to stay with the Vikings after missing another offseason, but anything otherwise puts his career in serious jeopardy.

Matt Moore, CAR – Moore heads into the season as the starting quarterback, but with rookies Jimmy Clausen and Tony Pike, the Panthers have several options if Moore doesn’t pan out. Depending upon his play this year, Moore could have a lucrative offer inis agents’ office by mid-season or could be kicked to the curb at the end of the year in favor of other options. The former seems more likely based upon his stellar performance in starting appearances.

Kyle Orton, DEN – With Tim Tebow as the likely “future” of Denver, Kyle Orton may have a limited career in Denver, making him one of the better potential commodities at the position this year. Orton has proven to be a solid, albeit unspectacular starter, who could keep a team competitive on offense.

Matt Hasselbeck, SEA – Hasselbeck has been torn by injuries and with a new Head Coach and General Manager in town, Hasselbeck will have exceed all expectations to stick around with a team looking to get younger. With a decent season, he could have some marginal value on quarterback-starved teams.

Alex Smith, SF – Like Matt Moore, if Alex Smith isn’t re-signed by his team, his value may be very miniscule around the league. In other words, if Smith has a good season, he’ll almost uncertainly be kept by the Niners. However, if he cements his status as a bust, he’ll have little but back-up value.

    Other Notable Free Agents:
    Troy Smith, BAL
    Trent Edwards, BUF
    JT O’Sullivan, CIN
    Seneca Wallace, CLE
    Shaun Hill, DET
    Brodie Croyle, KC
    Chad Pennington, MIA
    Tyler Thigpen, MIA
    Tarvaris Jackson, MIN
    Jim Sorgi, NYG
    Kellen Clemens, NYJ
    Bruce Gradkowski, OAK
    Michael Vick, PHI
    Dennis Dixon, PIT
    Billy Volek, SD
    Kerry Collins, TEN
    Chris Simms, TEN
    Rex Grossman, WAS
