Note: Practice has now concluded . . . thought I’d posted this two hours ago, but to my surprise it didn’t take. Awaiting press briefing by coach Tom Cable . . .
Middle linebacker Rolando McClain loped through a few early drills then appeared to be resuming his role as a spectator as the Raiders began their Friday practice.
Defensive tackle Richard Seymour (knee) left briefly with a member of the athletic training staff, but then returned to participate in drills. Cornerback Chris Johnson, with a hooded sweatshirt under his uniform jersey, looked to be sitting it out.
Wide receivers Johnnie Lee Higgins and Nick Miller were both going through drills. Both have ankle injuries and it’s likely only one of them will be active and serve as the punt return specialist in what could be a rain storm Sunday against Denver.
There were a few light sprinkles but threatening skies as players attempted to keep warm.
One person who didn’t seem to mind is defensive line coach Mike Waufle, who last coached with the New York Giants.
“Are you kidding? I spent the last six years in New Jersey. It’s warm out here,” Waufle said.
To steal a line from defensive tackle Tommy Kelly, “Waufle, he crazy.”
More to come . . .
