Raiders slogging through practice

Note: Practice has now concluded . . . thought I’d posted this two hours ago, but to my surprise it didn’t take. Awaiting press briefing by coach Tom Cable . . .

Middle linebacker Rolando McClain loped through a few early drills then appeared to be resuming his role as a spectator as the Raiders began their Friday practice.

Defensive tackle Richard Seymour (knee) left briefly with a member of the athletic training staff, but then returned to participate in drills. Cornerback Chris Johnson, with a hooded sweatshirt under his uniform jersey, looked to be sitting it out.

Wide receivers Johnnie Lee Higgins and Nick Miller were both going through drills. Both have ankle injuries and it’s likely only one of them will be active and serve as the punt return specialist in what could be a rain storm Sunday against Denver.

There were a few light sprinkles but threatening skies as players attempted to keep warm.

One person who didn’t seem to mind is defensive line coach Mike Waufle, who last coached with the New York Giants.

“Are you kidding? I spent the last six years in New Jersey. It’s warm out here,” Waufle said.

To steal a line from defensive tackle Tommy Kelly, “Waufle, he crazy.”

More to come . . .

RMR what’d u do to Ol’ Bob? Last nite he went on and on with some creepy rant about finding you…

  • Silver-and-black666

  • I read norco’s posts, purple. He’s probably just a drink idiot but you never know. I’ve been threatened a few times on the internet. Nothing’s ever come to anything yet. If he really does find me and confronts me face to face, we can handle it however he wants. He blind sides me, and he’d better hope he knocks me out with the first punch. That’s all I’ve gotta say.

  • PurpleDrank81

I just think its weird…I mean I understand talking s**t back and forth and clownin on each other but really going off online is just weird

  • MaineRaida

is Chaz still out? can’t bear to watch another ball go thru Bey’s hands

  • He obviously has a lot of issues, Purple. He’s a funny guy. I hope he gets help with his problems. IF he wants to take that drastic route he was talking about last night, that’s his choice, too. But I think he’s too smart.

  • hwnrdr

Players trying to stay warm? I don’t like that at all…

  • Crazy 8’s

  • PurpleDrank81

i love the fact that this storm coming in is called Pineapple Express

  • And he’s not helping himself at all by threatening Kell. Kell’s already gone to the police. Assuming he’s not just some troll doing this all for fun, I think he just has a serious drinking and drug problem and those types of rants are part of it.

  • JLofty

I hope Cable’s just playing games when he says they are preparing for Orton not Tebow.

    That was my thoughts exactly…

  • DMAC

I would love to see Tebow lower his shoulder and go head to head w/ MM.

  • PurpleDrank81

I have a bad feeling about this game and Baby Jesus (Tebow)…… I think its because i cant stand Tebow but still we better be ready…

  • Cable can prepare for the man on the moon, it doesn’t matter. Our season’s over. Big story now for the Raiders, as with all teams out of playoff contention, is the potential lockout.

  • NoPassingZone

Soooo do you think Cable/Jackson finally have figured out what this team needs to do to win out? I’m surprised it hasn’t sank in yet…maybe this week they will commit to run the ball and KEEP RUNNING IT!

With some people, a word to the wise is sufficient…others you need to hit them over the hard with a 2×4…I guess we know where Cable/Jackson lie.

  • Cable will likely keep his job due to lockout. Owners typically don’t fire management in the middle of labor disputes. Everything points toward lockout for us, now. We had more than enough chances to salvage this season. The window’s closed.

  • PurpleDrank81

I still see us at 9-7

  • DMAC

With Kyle Orton (arm, ribs) still unable to throw Friday, Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post predicts that Tim Tebow will be the Broncos’ starting quarterback against the Raiders Sunday.
Jones cites “conventional wisdom” for her prediction, with Orton only getting “mental reps” throughout the week. Tebow has attempted one regular season pass, completing it for three yards. He went 25-of-39 for 344 yards, two touchdowns, and three turnovers in the preseason. Look for the Broncos to employ a ground-happy attack against the Raiders’ No. 26 run defense.

    Bring it on!

    Later peoples!
    Go A’s!
    Go Dubs!
    Go Cal Bears!
    Go Fremont High Tigers!
    Go Raiders!

  • purple, the seasons’ over.

  • PurpleDrank81

Man I wanna punch Tebow in the mouth for some odd reason

I hope we see this on sunday

  • PurpleDrank81

    I still feel like 9-7

  • raiderfankirk

Hope Fryer Tuck starts and we blitz the s#$% out his a@#. Starting Campbell and Raider D on all 3 of my nfl fantasy playoff teams this week. I had one team w/ all raiders just for fun, they won last week w/ 93 pts. I won 3 games this season w/ them( would have been 4, execpt for the week dmac was’nt supossed to play and I did’nt start him, 40 pts bye himself)

  • raiderfankirk

It ain’t over till the fat lady sings and I don’t hear Sh$t!!!!9-7 win the division!!!

  • If you guys want to break down our slim playoff possibilities with all kinds of long handed algebra equations, be my guest. You know as well as I do, it’s over. The last chance was in Jacksonville. And even then we still needed help. But that win would have been huge. Now, it’s over. Big story now is the lockout.

  • hwnrdr

Although slim, not as slim as one thinks…
All we need is two teams to lose one more each and win out!

  • Like a lot of mediocre Raider teams through the years, this team had talent and potential, but its biggest problem was not being able to FOLLOW UP on big wins. That is the Raider curse if there ever was one. You can’t just keep losing ‘must win’ games, then following those with surprise wins, only to choke again the week after that. You have to follow through. We had two huge opportunities late this season. Once against Pittsburgh, again against Jacksonville. We didn’t get it done. Now it’s basically a hail mary. Our playoff chances are basically an algebra equation that takes up an entire chalk board. You’d have to get Irkle, Poindexter, and Dr. Strangelove in a room to figure out the Raiders’ playoff chances. It’s over.

I imagine the Raiders will win this week. Why wouldn’t they? It fits their pattern this year. Makes no difference.

  • raiderfankirk

Hwnrdr is exactly right!!! Why in the h3ll would you hate on your own team.

  • JLofty

RMR, dude if you want to mail it in fine. But whatever my team’s (THE RAIDERS) playoff chances, I still care. I will watch this game and the Colts game and the Spleefs game with great anticipation and zeal as I LOVE my RAIDERS. Playoffs or no.

  • hwnrdr

I think you meant Miami, but I know what you mean…but i still have (some)hope…if not, oh well!

  • Silver-and-black666

I hate to say it but our chances of getting into the playoffs are about as good as the retarded Alaskan chick has of winning 2012 (1,000 to 1)

We would need to win 3 in a row and SD has to lose to Cincy or Den….not likely.

  • hwnrdr

True and KC could win the next 2 as well. If that happens…should the team lose to KC and have them go in, or should we beat KC for pride and let SD slide in?

  • HairyBush

    you said slogging

  • hwnrdr

Either way, I’m not giving up until that fat biotch pops her head up and starts to play Name That Tune…

  • Right now, a winning record would be huge for this team.

Most of these guys have never experienced that at this level.

Win the next 3 and hope for some help.

  • hwnrdr

I would accept an 8-8, which stops the streak of losing seasons, but still would be kinda upset knowing what this young team could have done!

  • MR…

Your just mad because you predicted a 5 win season before it even started and dogged everyone for even suggesting 10-6 or 9-7.

I predicted 8-8 before the season started, but now hope to see 9-7.

    Playoff hope is still alive!

  • MikieG

Fellas, I just saw Denver play in Arizona from the 14th Row, 40 yard line last week. Let me just rest your worries..Denver looks absolutely awful, inept, cashed in, toast, done for, stick a fork in em, D-O-N-E…They are so over the top done that I should actually bet my Mortgage on this game.
They were absolutely 100% pathetic when I saw them. I mean Raiders Shell Redux bad. This game is going to be over in the 1st quarter, just like it was in their hizzy. Have no fear gents…
Also, that Norco Bob thing from yesterday was pretty creepy.

  • hwnrdr

I already have January 3rd off…if somehow, we win the division…I’m going to party like its 2002 again! Although this party may be shorter due to youth and inexperience…but if not…I’ll still party, because why not…I have it off…LOL

  • hwnrdr

Well, I hope you’re right MikieG! I think they come in pissed off! But nothing that we can’t handle, right?

I thought you were a RAIDER football fan hwnrdr? Is this a real question?

  • Cassel is not 100% and Gates is out the next 2 games.

    Raiders just need to win.

  • Guy

Are the Raiders really even Raider for the play offs? Just do everything you can to win out and don’t worry about other teams, we don’t need them slumping because another team clinched.

I was no more wrong than the people who predicted 10-6 or 9-7. And they have a lot more reason to be “mad” than I do. Their goal was a possibility, only for it to slip away just last week.

I didn’t mail it in. The team did. Last Sunday.

  • hwnrdr

Hey, just asking because I’ve seen people in here say that…I say win out and if SD wins out, that crap is on us for blowing last week…Miami, AZ, blah blah blah…

  • MikieG

Thats what Im sayin Hwnrdr…They aint gonna come in here pissed off because they are already thinking about what resort in Tahiti they are going to be playing golf at and playing grab@ss with the honeys under the Tahitian moon with dude…They don’t care…
Timmay might, but the rest of these guys have already lef the building…Weather might be a factor so I am gong to go Raiders 24 Bronco’s 6…
