Raiders unfamiliar being the heavy (favorite)

At least from the outside looking in, it’s a totally different mindset for the Raiders as they host the Denver Broncos in what could eventually become a quagmire at the Coliseum.

And it’s not because they’ll be the first opponent for Denver rookie quarterback Tim Tebow, the good and pure Florida icon who will do battle with the evil forces dressed in black.

The superstitious among you may recoil at the idea of saying out loud or putting it on the record, but the Raiders should win today, and they should win with relative ease.

The oddsmakers are giving the Raiders anywhere from seven to nine points depending on who is setting them.

The Raiders as the heavy favorite.

When was the last time you could say that?

For those of you who out of the area getting ready to watch on TV, or are heading to the Coliseum, it’s an entirely different feel.

The 3-10 Broncos have been awful, managing all of six points in a 10-6 loss to the Chiefs and getting crushed by a bad Arizona team in Week 14.

The process to circling the drain was set in motion by the Raiders, with that 59-14 beatdown in Denver, a game that at the same time demonstrated to the winners they could break a recent mold and told the losers they were headed nowhere.

Of course, run that “heavy favorites” line of thinking past Tom Cable or any of his players and you get to the same place Denver is _ nowhere.

“We don’t look at it like that,” Cable said. “Do we expect to win? We expect to go out and win every week. What we have to do is take this opportunity that’s been given us and protect it, and that means win games.”

Said defensive tackle Tommy Kelly: “We have no reason to be overconfident over anybody. We just have to go out there and handle our business, and the next time we get somebody down, step on their throat.”

Just like the Raiders did on Oct. 24.

“I am sure they want it,” Kelly said. “Last time, they had a couple of turnovers and it snowballed. I am sure they got that on their mind. They’re not playing for the playoffs right now, but they are playing for pride and sometimes at this point of the season that’s more important.”

More to come after I hydroplane to the Coliseum . . .

Ditto on this!!!! ill be their next week!!

It’s week 14, and still in the playoff hunt. We don’t have the luxury of assuming we will lose games. We win the last 3 games easy.

Whatever happens from here on out this season, we have to consider this season a success.

We’ve had some great rookie contributions from Jacoby (Francis) Ford, Mr. Versatile-Veldheer, Houston, and of course McPain.

DMac and Bush are a fearsome duo, and we can honestly say we have one of the best running games in the league (props to O-line for the turnaround)

J Campbell IS OUR QB…(aside – Grads needs to be traded, Campbell is better, and plays better without looking over his shoulder)

37 SACKS! Nothin else needs to be said

The emergence of Routt, and Ware in the secondary…

No question there are some games I wish we could have back, playoffs would be great but 4-0 (hopefully today 5-0 in the AFC west is HUGE)

Proud to be a Raider, Go Raiders…

    Rumble son Rumble.

  • Born with a Patch

EMRaiders, who we gonna have spy Tebow? Ricky Brown if McClain doesn’t play? i like your idea i just don’t know if he can get the job done…. i guess MM34 would be up to the challenge

  • Just Fire Baby

Grads is on a one-year deal.

If we don’t want to bring him back, we don’t have to do anything.

  • Born with a Patch

Roch R, whether you like him or not, Tebow is a beast. always finds a way to win…. and we really don’t know what he’s capable of, haven’t seen enough to know if he’s progressed… i was hoping the Raiders would have picked him up in the late rounds just cause of his leadership. he has the potential to be a nightmare of ours for a long time…

We can switch the spy depending on the situation. that way Tebow won’t know who is on him every down.

LMAO bro. I just watched a few mins. He trips on cat piss, and then they go in to heavy metal mode.
    Still LMAO.

  • 504 Raider

Grads has no trade value. Wish he did but I just don’t see it.

BSPN Bill Williamson says suggests these last 3 games are crucial for JCamp. If he plays well, we don’t go looking for his replacement (according to Bill). If he doesn’t, we go looking for a FA starter.

I hope Jamp is the man next year plus we draft a QB in the 2nd or 3rd round. JCamp’s contract points to us doing just that.

  • Born with a Patch

EM, mabye howard can spy him… he’s fast and big enough

  • 504 Raider

Ricky Brown spying Tebow? Now I’m scared about this game.

  • Born with a Patch

I dont see us finding a starting quality FA… i say we keep JCamp and draft a QB to learn off Jason. Jason does everything off the field right. he’d be a good mentor

  • EMRaiders

Much rather have TH than RB spying him. But we could also use a DE or S.

  • Just Fire Baby

Campbell is due a 50% pay raise next year, and it is also his last year of a deal.

No matter what happens, whether he stinks or he plays great, there will be contract talk for Campbell.

If he doesn’t do well, he has a career 27% December winning percentage, Al will not want to give him a pay-raise, and may ask him to restructure of walk (Jamarcus-esque).

If he plays well, than he will want some security and an extenison.

  • Just Fire Baby

Lots of great games to watch today, not sure which one to focus in on.

Got FFL playoffs on top of it to boot. May be a GameMix day for a little bit.

  • Born with a Patch

I dont see Moreno having a good game today and McDaniels gave away hillis (thankfully). i dont know of a threat other than tebow, if we stack the box we shouldn’t need a designated spy

WOW It’s like all of the sudden Tebow is now MVick!!! I don’t care what you’ve done in college, this is the NFL and you don’t earn it until you show me, and so far Tebow has not shown anything, or earned anything for that matter!

The only thing that has me worried about today is the elements keeping it close and a turn over leads to disaster.

I’m not ready to give Tim Tebow ANY props until he’s shown up and done something in this league.

Look at all the college players that “did nothing but win…” and suddenly made the jump to the big leagues, and are nowhere to be found.

The only thing good about Tim Tebow, is that Denver wasted a 1st round draft pick on him, and potentially crippled their franchise for years to come.

I’m a Raider fan, I know what we’re capable of, and I am not going to worry about a rookie from Denver, until said Rookie makes me worry.

  • Born with a Patch

I’m down by 20 points in FF. i don’t know if i can mount a comeback this week, esp without my starting QB rodgers

  • 504 Raider

The mods are in full force this morning. Just wrote a little joke about JCamp and it didn’t go through.

  • Born with a Patch

Roch, i’m not saying he’s gonna pick us apart and feed us to the wolves. just saying that he has pontential and you cant discount it… it would be stupid for any head coach to overlook him. sorry but tebow didnt cripple this franchise, McDaniels did.

  • Born with a Patch

I do agree though about them wasting a first round pick. nobody else would have done that

  • Roch R

    Point on McDaniels given….

Of every team in the NFL there is none I dislike more than Denver, and I shall not quake in my boots over an over-hyped rookie from the gawd-squad.

The Donkeys will be more “game” than the last time we saw them no question, but really it’s going to be like playing a team that exclusively goes wildcat all game, and I am not worried about that.

Let us not forget our own talent, King Richard, Big Tommy Kelly, Our own Rook Extrodinaire Lamarr, and last years GEM Sho-Nasty.

I love everything I’ve seen from Mr. Goethel so far this year, and we’ve got a freaky good secondary, especially with Nnamdi one week healthier.

Tebow and the Donks need to be worrying about us, not the other way around.

Even Garrard from last week is probably still aching from the beating he took last week.

Tebow has not seen the kind of talent he’s going to see today.

  • Born with a Patch

Ha Ha Ha… I think our front is gonna have a field day!!! i’m not doubting us at all. and i don’t think gerrard is playing today

  • Born with a Patch

    KC Down 3!!!

  • StayinBlack

Lots of Bush and lots of Mcfadden win turnover battle stop the run.

  • djohnnyg

I don’t see San Diego losing rest of the year. Who’s gonna beat ’em? Cincy?

Golden chance was missed this year to take ’em off their perch. We swept ’em, but in the end, probably not good enough.

Without that Ford fumble and that big run by the backup RB we win that Jax game going away.

It hurts to say, but Raiders choked this one away.

If we lose today I don’t want Cable back.

Amazing what went through during the week; people threatening to come to people’s homes and beat them up, guys saying they don’t mind going to jail for stalking other posters, etc. etc.

There had to have been some casualties (people banned) after all that mess right?

If Cable loses to a rookie Qb in game being played at home, Cable can kiss his job goodbye. This is a must win game,, Cable better not blow it like he’s known to do.

Cable isnt the 1 missing Tackles and Dropping passes

  • Pretty Rick

Let me be one of the first to welcome Darren McFadden into the 1,000 yd club. It’s been while since we’ve had a 1,000 yd rusher. Anyone remember the towel bitter (Lamont Jordan)?

KC back on top, does anyone know who started with the ball?
