Seymour not at practice
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010 at 1:15 pm in Oakland Raiders.
Defensive tackle Richard Seymour was the most conspicuous absence as the Raiders went through warmups and drills and began their Wednesday practice.
Offensive tackle Langston Walker was on the field, but not wearing a helmet, likely won’t participate. The same goes for punter Shane Lechler, who expects to play but will give way to practice squad addition Danny Baugher.
“You know I’m going to do my best to go this weekend,” Lechler said before practice. “I don’t see why I wouldn’t. I’m going to do everything I can, treatment-wise, to be able to go.”
Lechler said he strained the hamstring breaking toward the middle of the field while covering a punt.
More to come . . .

When the schedule was made the NFL had no idea Favre or Vick would be the Qb’s.

The NFL has become a star driven league like the NBA. It has nothing to do with competitive football. This is Vick versus Favre.
……
The game was flexed in.
December 22nd, 2010 at 1:18 pm
Was it? When did that happen?
Ok, I agree a bonehead move by Goodell!

On Reece to Wr:
I think he has the speed he is doing it from the FB position. If he dropped 15lbs he could doit against DB’s. Its not ALL about speed remember Freddy B? He has the size and quickness to separate.
What are we getting from DHB, Schilens, and Murphy from the Wr spot? Cant be any worse with Reece!

4th I wun!

Seymour’s body is breaking down before our eyes.
How old is he 48 ?

Cold weather out here. No need for big Dick to push that hamstring.
December 22nd, 2010 at 1:26 pm
KK is it cold?
Really? You know he played in NE right?
KK, whats the temp Sunday?
Do we hold players out when the playoffs are on the line bacause its 55 degrees out?
Moron…

He’s a Mo, you know he’s a Mo, how do you know this? Cause he told ya just so.
Pound rock.
Clean JC uniform.
And Mo is a Mo.
K2, he may not have your back, but Mo wants your backside.

Bad idea, even though he was a wr in college he was a tweener wr/tight end type. he wouldnt have an edge running routes against dbs’ he does however have a huge matchup edge against linebackers. This is the prime reason why having him in the backfield is leading to huge explosive plays.
He also keep the defense off balance in the back field, is going to catch a pass, run a dive play, or be a lead blocker?
making him a wr would take away his biggest strength

What it do?
Still kicking the occasional hornets nest for fun, I take it..

Instead of hu jack going to cincy, i think he may tell uncle Al to bring in marvin lewis as d coordinator.
December 22nd, 2010 at 1:53 pm
Seymour’s availability is KEY! We need him to harass Manning with the natural pressure. And to keep the other DLs fresh by having Dick wreakin havoc on his snaps.

You guys spend too much time pretending like you know what goes on in the owner’s and coaches’ heads.

i hope that wasnt for me. I have no clue what will happen, just connecting dots between hu jack and lewis because they worked together, and lewis runs a 4-3.
relax, its just speculation, that is all

H. nostradamuensis – a type of modern semi-pro blogger fluxing between “the sky is falling” with each relative tweak of practice info and bases of what did occur in the past must necessarily project onto the upcoming game’s playing field. Although H. nostradamuensis sees herself/himself as an accurate prognosticator based on speculative innuendo, seldom does she/he take into view the apparent randomness and bounce of the ball of “any given Sunday”.
December 22nd, 2010 at 2:13 pm
Do you think the Raiders would bring in Chad Johnson after the Bengels release him?
Since Hue was Johnson’s WR coach and has high cred in development of Housh and Chad?
December 22nd, 2010 at 2:16 pm
The thing is, they’re paying DHB big money already.
December 22nd, 2010 at 2:17 pm
Big Rich will be out there on Sunday…
Go Raiders!
December 22nd, 2010 at 2:18 pm
Our field is a joke. It was a mudpit last weekend and the reason lechler was injured. I love outdoor football in all elements and hate the indoor game, but our field is an dangerous embarassment, plain and simple.
December 22nd, 2010 at 2:21 pm
The field is below sea-level, AND, it was poring last weekend.

Wow KK thanks for the update we didnt know it was raining
December 22nd, 2010 at 2:34 pm
Veldheer will be ready. They know what we’re going to do now try to stop it. No fancy reverses, Mcfadden and Bush up the gut

“China is freaking cold for this California son.”
I bet it smells pretty bad too!
December 22nd, 2010 at 2:35 pm
Bet you didn’t know the field was below sea level either.
December 22nd, 2010 at 2:39 pm
NoMasDiamante,
The Oakland Alameda County Coliseum has been a mudpit since it opened. As field level is situated below sea level on game days my father and I would always check out the adjoining canal to see how the tides were running. Often times in the past, if the tide was going to be out at game time the Raiders would purposefully water the field heavily to obtain the same conditions to make the mudpit they wanted. Definitely an advantage when playing against turf/dome teams. Not an embarassment, a purposeful environment.
December 22nd, 2010 at 2:40 pm
our field is the best nuthin girly like artificial turf…thus is the way football is supposed to be played.
December 22nd, 2010 at 2:41 pm
Not only that, but I don’t remember the field being a problem for the Raiders, other than pre-season with the A’s.
December 22nd, 2010 at 2:53 pm
I know he seems to be off the coaches’ radar, but do you think this game is a good time to dust-off howard at lb, for coverage purposes? Especially since we have Mclain out there at MLB?
December 22nd, 2010 at 2:54 pm
Seymour and Lechler will start on Sunday. December in the NFL always separates the Men from the Boys. We must zone blitz Peyton Manning to death.
Go RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
December 22nd, 2010 at 3:08 pm
SNB,
Depends where you are.
Gentrification is en masse here and you would be suprised how backwoods the States sometimes seem.
December 22nd, 2010 at 3:14 pm
If the field is so bad that our own kicker cant kickoff past the 20 then there is a problem. I am a fan of natural turf but that does not mean you can’t have proper drainage.
December 22nd, 2010 at 3:15 pm
Lowdown…
All good here in SO-CAL, aside from the fact it’s been raining small hooved animals for damn near a week..
Looking forward to the game, would love to see Frankenstein Manning’s jersey a pale shade of brown..
Safe travels back from the land of U.S. T-Bills…
December 22nd, 2010 at 3:17 pm
Peyton will get his on Sunday. Probably three TDs in 46 pass attempts because the Foals won’t gain anything rushing. Manning is after all one of the best to ever QB in the NFL and Indy is fighting for their playoff lives.
The Raiders are apt to score more than that on any given week, so although not a cakewalk, the Argent et Noir should prevail.
December 22nd, 2010 at 3:18 pm
And yes, as a fromer long time season ticket holder, I am well aware of the negative elevation KK. Also the infield last a lot further into the season than preseason, in case you hadn’t noticed. I hate the infield. It’s butt ugly..
December 22nd, 2010 at 3:23 pm
Lowdown,
I remember those 40-something hour long days from crossing the dateline. Best cure for the juxtaposition and interposed time change would be to go directly to a tailgate at the Raider game.
December 22nd, 2010 at 3:24 pm
cant drain upward without pumps….let them play in the mud, they always have. Its cool seeing how dirty the visitors qb jerseys are at the end of the game.
December 22nd, 2010 at 3:36 pm
11. Agreed.
Besides, he does flex out to WR on some plays.
Raiders taking hybrid to the next level…again.

You bet we should, our d’s biggest weakness is ability of Lb’s to cover and Howard can cover with the best of them
December 22nd, 2010 at 3:53 pm
Remember when Wheatley racked up a bunch of yards against Tampa and their fast sideline to sideline defense a few years back? It is still the model for how to beat a fast defensive front. Run it straight down their throats and forget about trying to bounce it to the outside too much. I can see Michael Bush being the key to winning this week moreso than McFadden. No matter who runs the ball, the best way to beat Indy is to score on long drives and keep their offense off the field as much as possible. I think this is a good match-up for the Raiders as long as Cable and Hue get some help from the D.
December 22nd, 2010 at 3:55 pm
im sure a shinny new stadium in downtown LA would’nt be so bad
December 22nd, 2010 at 4:02 pm
Thats the one thing about this team, there are time when players that might be able to help out disappear, like Bush last year, here Howard
