Still no Seymour as Raiders begin practice

Defensive tackle Richard Seymour remained absent from practice with a hamstring strain during the Raiders’ media availability window Thursday, increasing the possibility he won’t be able to play against the Indianapolis Colts.

Offensive tackle Langston Walker was on the field but without a helmet, assistant a line coach giving pointers to Mario Henderson. Henderson will start if walker has not completed concussion protocol.

Defensive coordinator John Marshall told the media extra film study was necessary this week to deal with the tempo set by quarterback Peyton Manning.

That being the case, maybe that’s where everyone was during the team’s open locker room session, during which fewer players were available than at any time I can remember.

Saw Tommy Kelly, Sam Williams, Shaun Bodiford, Stanford Routt, Bruce Davis and Jarvis Moss, and Cooper Carlisle. John Henderson came in before closing time and wasn’t much interested in talking. Jarvis Moss made his way across the room a couple of times.

More to come . . .

Seymour would be a huge loss.

Edge pass-rushers have very little impact on Peyton, but the up front rush is very impactful.

If Hue leaves this year (could happen) and Campbell struggles to start next year, I’m sure many people will be banging on the whole another year another new system deal.

But in regards to Cassell, he gets the whole 6 degrees of seperation from OC treatment.
    ==========================================================

Not really, they are still running the same system, a spread version of the wc offense. Maybe the terminology, perhaps the flavor of the play calling is a bit different but it is essentially the same offense. Thats why dion branch was able to easily reintegrate into the offense.

    Said so himself.

and???? so he looks up to the guy he backed up, that is now starting in the nfl, this has nothing to do with the fact that he couldnt teabag couldnt carry newton’s jock with a pack mule in the back of a dump truck

  • Just Fire Baby

Well Hue Jackson coached along with Tom Cable and under Paul Hackett before at USC.

So no matter what if Hue leaves, and Cable and Hackett stay, I guess it will be the same system as well.

i don’t see drafting wiz’s kid high, if we are lacking anything at center it is size to handle the big nose tackles, wiz doesn’t have that.. when you watch the replays, satele is always downfield blocking.. i think the weak link on our line is carlisle.

  • Mistic1 Tha Supavillain

Scam Newton?!?!?!? why didnt i think of that, good one bra

  • PurpleDrank81

If we dont have to move up to pick him up and he falls into our lap then I say pick up but I wouldnt want to jump up to get him

  • r8rwill

the raiders are at the point, we can draft the best athlete available.. last years draft was one of the best of all time.. we have a few upgrades to make, don’t know if the draft can supply them.. wide receiver for example, i think plax would be a better signing than anyone we can get in the later rounds.

  • PurpleDrank81

U have no I dea what kind of shape Plax is in…Not every1 can pull a Vick get out of jail and be real good.. To pick up Pettis in the 3rd is not going to hurt us neither will picking up Curtis Brown in the 2nd

Funny how people saw the same game last Sunday but came away with opposite opinions on how Tebow played. Other than the long run, I thought the guy looked horrible. I think he’d be a hell of an RB/FB/TE type though.

  • PurpleDrank81

Haha maybe Chuck Norris is free to play Fullback

  • r8rwill

yeah i don’t know what kind of shape plax is in or whether he can even play. that was not my point, we need a big possession receiver with nfl savy, we haven’t been able to do that in the draft to date.

  • PurpleDrank81

Do you know of any possesion reciever out there in the free agency that would be half way decent????????????

Not only on this board but in the media too.

Dilfer and Mort thought he played pretty well for his first game, Peter King and the Herd were trading jokes at how awful he is/was/will be.

Tebow is a polarizing figure, on and off the field.

I’m just suprised people don’t realize the athlete the guy is. His combine numbers last year were out of this world. He had a higher vertical than 90% of the WR’s, a faster shuttle time than Javhid Best, and more bench press reps than most of the TE’s.

We better hope he never learns how to throw.

Henderson will be OK on the right side.

This is what he does, play OK and sometimes well against the Robert Mathis’ of the world, than makes the no-name guy for the Titans look all-world.

    43. I think so too. Hope Hendu’s ok if he plays there…

  • Nnamdi21

    42. Heres the thing, Tebow is Tebow is Tebow.

They can claim all they want that he’s worked on his throwing motion et al but the fact is he looks exactly like the same cat from Florida and I think he always will.

Give him some weapons and yeah he could do some things but with that wind up he’s going to get eaten alive and fumble ALOT.

He also sticks that lead leg out there when throwing deep.

Oakland did not rush him and he had all the time in the world.

Sure he’s a danger to take off on the ground but you get to him on the rush you can make good things happen for your D.

Unless he’s got ironman stamina he is going to get injured running around like its college in the NFL.

  • Nnamdi21

    So alone…:)

  • alex7

    Where’s Debo at?

“QBs are only as good as their supporting cast,” he says??

It’s weird when people make such absolute, incorrect statements.

If QBs were only as good as their supporting casts, Rivers would have sucked this year with all of his WRs out. Brady would have struggled throwing to castoffs Woodhead, Julian Edelman, and Brandon Tate. Instead, both will get MVP votes.

Peyton Manning is throwing to Blair White, Austin Collie, former nobody Jacob Tamme, and a formerly benched Pierre Garcon.

Manning is about to set career highs in yards, while throwing his 2nd most career TDs.

Matt Schaub beat us without Andre Johnson. He did just fine.

Big Ben continues to throw well and win games with a garbage O-line.

QBs ARE the system. No one misses a WR, or a TE, or a lineman, or a RB as much as they miss a QB.

Kevin Kolb couldn’t turn that Eagles cast into points. Vick could.

All Matt Flynn showed the other night is he’ll be a very good QB wherever he goes.

I understand. Few UCLA coaches ever coach at USC. Cable was the 1st coach fired at Idaho in 22 yrs. The 4 after him were successful. I guess for him, 8-8 looks good for a career loser.
