End 3rd qtr: Colts 24, Raiders 16

Third quarter notes

— Indianapolis had the ball with a first-and-10 at their own 25 on the last play of the quarter following an offsides penalty by Matt Shaughnessy on third-and-3.

– After the Colts scored, the Raiders went three and out as Jason Campbell was sacked by Dwight Freeney for seven yards on first down.

– Peyton Manning’s 4-yard touchdown pass to Blair White against Stanford Routt put the Colts up 24-16 with 2:55 left in the third quarter.

Manning changed the play at the line of scrimmage while staring directly into a Black Hole trying to make enough noise to make it impossible.

Indianapolis was the beneficiary of a ticky-tack pass interference flag against Routt who was flagged for minimal contact on an incompletion to White on a seam route, setting up the Colts with a first down at the 13-yard line.

—Janikowski converted from 52 yards following an incomplete pass from Campbell to Ford in the red zone with some aggressive defense from Cornelius Brown that could have _ and maybe should have _ drawn a flag for pass interference.

It brought Oakland within 17-16 with 7:53 left.

— The Raiders failed to cash in on a Manning interception and went three and out from their own 43.

On the Colts’ first series, Manning overthrew Tamme, who was being covered by Rolando McClain, with Huff making the catch from deep safety on a dive.

With JC at QB get used to mediocrity at best. Like I said, he’s not horrible he just isn’t good either. I mean c’mon, this is the Colts defense NOT some top tier D.

This is the JC you’ll get for every “big” game.

  • Just Fire Baby

    Teach,

Campbell had plays where he had plenty of time, and immediately just conceded the 3 yard pass or missed an open receiver.

Granted he may be a little skiddish because of the O-line issues, but I don’t want a skiddish QB.

The only debate is who sucks more, the O-line or Jason Campbell, and it is a fierce debate.

    Plunkett,

You are right! Bruce Campbell can’t freekn play. You would think someone so bad that they can’t be activated in a game would have bad film that would have prevented a 4th round selection.

    *******

Be happy he was not our first round pick!

  • ENGLANDRAIDER

Campbell is a competent quarterback but wilts under a good pass rush.

and another message! THERE ARE NO QBS AVAILABLE!

We got Camnpbell for a 4th rounder in 2012….that’s the best we got.

I’ll take him going into the offseason with a year under his belt…then to roll the G-D dice again on another washout QB.

This is the cost of NOT BEING ABLE to develop your own QB.

    ***********

Yes jc would be better than another wash out FA QB. BUT we must draft a young gun and try again!

  • Just Fire Baby

Campbell has played like the game was over, with about 10 minutes to go in the game.

  • VanHeathen

EVERY JC completion is a ‘back Shoulder throw’ if he intends it or not…pathetic

  • SnB Production

    Here’s the doggone truth.

Jason Campbell is not great…and many times not very good…but he’s the best shot a team with no ability to develop QB talent has.

THe team has poor wide receivers. Period. BG couldn’t do much with them and JC has struggled as well. They need a #1 possession receiver guy. A go-to guy and you all know he is NOT on the roster

THe team has to run the ball to win. DMAC and Bush are the 1-2 team they need. Hue has to do a better job getting Bush more involved. They have two differnt running styles that need to be exploited

THe defense can’t work without TWO elite shutdown cornerbacks..like Hayes and Haynes. The Raiders play a strict man2man…you can’t have Routt and CJ as the other CB. THey get beat too often or have to hold

Need a RG and RT….Mario HEnderson is a disaster on both sides

33 pass attempts for 147 yards is pee-wee league like.

Oh well,,game over. We finish 8-8 Cable may keep his job, 7-9 Cable is probably good as gone then we can fantasize about Bill Cohwer & Jim Harbaugh.

    =======================================================

Make it Harbaugh and he can bring Luck with him.

  • http://www.hotmail.com The Dirtee Raccoon

C’mon Veeld, you can’t do that!

  • Raiders for life

    Again, time management is horrible.

7 points and the onside kick!

  • 504 Raider

There will be a 4-3 defensive coordinator available in one week who also has a history with Head Coach Hue Jackson.

  • SnB Production

You stick with JC and draft and bring in a UFA QB to develop under Hue Jackson.

The draft should be dedicated to CB, RT, WR and maybe Center

  • RaidingTexas

Get ready for the Tebow love tonight on the circuit.

He was lights out in the second half.

Just warning you guys ahead of time.

  • J Hill

Amazing that we don’t run this spread offense a lot more. I see nothing wrong with spreading them out, clearing out the underneath stuff, and working the RBs and TEs down the field.

  • Plunketthead

Only way swe fire Cable is if Hue is about to go and with all the head coach jobs opening its a good odds that Al has to fire TC to keep Hue

  • RaiderRockstar

where is semi pro blogger DMAC?

Chaz Schilens = 2 catches for 16 yards

who predicted he would be ready by Week 16 ???

  • RaiderRockstar

    JFB,

we tried to tell THESE PEOPLE that Tebow would be a player …

side note: how did your boy Bruce do against Houston?

was that a win or loss? :P

  • J Hill

Please someone tell me why this isn’t a big part of our offense????!!!

3 or 4 WRs, work RBs and TEs underneath!!!!!

  • Plunketthead

Amazing we move right down the field with ease

  • RaidingTexas

    Not bad for “stat padding”.

  • ENGLANDRAIDER

    You called it Vegas.
    Stat padding time.

We’re better off paying attention to the fact that we didn’t have ONE first down until 13 mins left in the second quarter-against the 19th defense.

  • Just Fire Baby

Ah…..the Jason Campbell era at it’s best.

Don’t know how we upgrade over him, because he is average and above-average is difficult to find, but he will never QB a playoff game.

    Just doesn’t have “it”.

  • Plunketthead

And JC is lights out. He hits everything
