Seymour, Walker inactive

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Sunday, December 26th, 2010 at 11:59 am in Oakland Raiders.

The Raiders will play without starting defensive tackle Richard Seymour (hamstring) and right tackle Langston Walker (concussion) today against the Indianapolis Colts in a game that appears to have playoff implications only for the visitor.

With the Chiefs up on Tennessee 31-7, the Raiders are on the brink of being eliminated from the playoff race.

Other Oakland inactives include WR Johnnie Lee Higgins, CB Walter McFadden, CB Jeremy Ware, LB Bruce Davis and G Bruce Campbell. J.T. O’Sullivan is the third quarterback.

Inactive for the Colts are DB Al Afalava, DB Kelvin Hayden, RB Mike Hart, RB Javarris James, LB Clint Session, G Jacques McClendeon, G Jamie Thomas and DT Dan Muir.

Getting ready to start the live chat in a few minutes . . . .

DHB is not being used right. Yeah, he’ll drop a few passes each game but I think if he was thrown to around 8 times a game, we’d see at least 5 catches.

Should have a reverse or 2 each game!

  13. Raider75 Says:

    Houston
    Arizona
    San Fran
    Jacksonville

    All winnable games.

Hopefully, getting this close will make this team hungry.

Agree on both points… This year signaled the changing of the guard…

  31. alex7 Says:

The reason we lost to non-AFC West teams is simple:
Our QBs struggled against the Titans, Cardinals, 49ers, Steelers, Dolphins)
Can’t be a playoff team when your QBs have 5 bad games a season.
Unfortunately, thats normal for our QBs career, which is why we got JC for a measley future 4th rounder.

  32. TerrapinRaider Says:

Whoever quoted WR being an “easy” position to fill doesn’t know what the hell they are talking about. The bust ratio on WRs have to be right up there with QBs. Ha. Its almost like saying QB is any “easy” position to fill. Haha.

If DHB doesn’t show me anything next year then I’ll give up on him. For now, I’ll buy a little of Hue’s argument, not too much of it, that DHBs job right now is not to be catching 10 balls etc per game. Next year better show the fans something.

  33. SharkCatcher Says:

if the chargers win today, and we beat kc next week…do the chargers get in? somebody ” esplain “

  34. edward teach Says:

Wonder who’s going to be coaching the Titans next year?

    What a pathetic performance.

That said, 2011 starts now for this team. Puch some people in the mouth on the way out, train hard in the offseason and come back mean and angry.

  35. SharkCatcher Says:

I think the future is very bright. JC having a better understanding of our offense should help by leaps and bounds.Does anybody kno what divison we play next year?

  36. TerrapinRaider Says:

Stop talking Wild Card. Ya’ll pissing me off. That sht is idiotic. Pay attention man. Our best shot at a wild card would have been the Jets or B’More losing out over the stretch and we take their spot by winning out of the stretch (I think it was the 4 games remaining). Well that sht didn’t happen so stfu about Wild Card.

chargers get in because they would win one of the tie breakers down the line…

  38. SharkCatcher Says:

I’m one of the few people that is dissapointed with Zack Miller. Aside from of the injuries he didn’t have a chris Cooley type year, we need Zack Miller to become JC’s bread & butter.

    +++++++++++

the only hope for DHB is that he continues to get better. As of right now he has vastly underperformed.

Not calling the kid a bust, just not very productive.

  40. The Real MaddenRaider Says:

Let me know when it’s the appropriate time to put my vote in that Jano’s muffed field goal against Arizona is the biggest thing to blame for us not making the playoffs.

  41. socalraider2408 Says:

Cant let the Chargers win the division. I hate to say it but finally in week 16 KC is legit. Gosh the Titans are garbage

  42. 89706Raider Says:

Regarding all of the “slapping” this one or that one today… This year we’ve finally seen some serious TEAM effort from the Raiders for the first time in many, many years. No one person is responsible for the Raiders not going to post season just like no one person would be responsible for going to post season, should that happen. Post season would be great experience for these young guys, but it doesn’t look like it’s happening, so just get past the blame and build on all of the positives from the year. This team is trying to move past years of negativity. Some of the folks commenting here need to let that happen, too.

I went to five home games. They dont even throw the ball to DHB , and it’s not because he’s not open. Very limited opportunities. ( his route running was terrible his rookie year but has improved vastly year 2)

  44. socalraider2408 Says:

TD Titans! only down by 3 scores now. lol. I’m honestly praying for a comeback

  45. TerrapinRaider Says:

I wouldn’t put the season on the 1 missed kick. There were many opportunities to win games this year that went by the waist-side. That 1 kick was 1 of many.

    Here’s a few others:

BG’s f’up at the goal line I think the same Arizona game.

    Campbell’s patheticness vs SF.

JFord’s fumble vs Jags (absolutely huge f’up).

W.McFadden getting torched over and over and over again.

  46. SharkCatcher Says:

It stings a bit more because this pathetic Titan team wupped our ass week 1..

  47. TerrapinRaider Says:

Oh and Cable’s stupidity starting Velheer at Center beginning of the season with very little game time snaps.

AND Cable’s stupidity starting Firgurs at PR – just moronic.

Not 1 kick resulted in this record.

  48. The Real MaddenRaider Says:

A kicker drafted in the first round is either Superman, or a mistake. Jano has done nothing to earn his first round draft status in the decade he’s been here. I’d say he’s earned a second round status, if even that. He’s been decent, but when you’re drafted number one, you’re spectacular. Period. Jano should be the Michael Jordan of NFL field goal kickers. He was nothing of the sort. He’s a bust, and an Al Davis scholarship. And, his muffed FG against Arizona is as much to blame as ANYTHING for us being in this disappointing scenario today.

Do keep in mind that this is the NFL and that winning is the only thing that matters.

I hear you on the progress from 7 years of unacceptable football…but let’s not wax too poetic about effort and all that stuff. This team THREW AWAY its opportunity due to stupidity, sloppiness and lack of attention to detail.

This isn’t you 8 year old’s little league

    Game 1) – Peyton Manning!
Game 2) – In Arrowhead, to SPOIL the chiefs bid, and go 6 – 0 in the division!!

After these last more than a few years!! I say hell”ya!

    Go Raiders!

PS: Note Seymour is Inactive WTF

  65. buckeyeraider Says:

I know they have to be disappointed. I just hope they don’t come out flat vs. Indy. It would do alot for this team to beat one of the league’s “elite” franchises.

Even if Indy is down this year. They still have #18. It’s interesting to note the post-SB loss jinx even affects Manning and the Colts.

I hope the Raiders take out their frustrations on the Colts. Finishing 9-7 or even 8-8 would be a nice building block for this franchise after the last seven years.

Like Jerry said, this could be like ‘99 all over again. The launching point for a Raider resurgence.

  66. TerrapinRaider Says:

Seymour being inactive is a huge problem. I don’t know if you guys noticed but we had ZERO penetration (well near zero) on the line when he went out vs the Broncos.

  69. Roch R Says:

Yeah it is noticable when he’s not in, but Big Tom and that Bryant kid from Harvard sometimes cause some damage, and what about the game that Groves had last week!! Not to mention Houston and Sho-nasty. This d line could still do some damage, don’t forget big John Hendersen is back on the line, he’s servicable.

  70. SnB Production Says:

    Thec,

Each year is a new year though. The Raiders concern me because this team tends to relax at exactly the wrong time.

This offseason is the time for RAZOR sharp focus on preparation, draft, contract negotiation, weight room and all that.

I am concerned that Cable starts patting people on the back like he did during the bye week.

This team is NOT out of the woods yet.

There will be no hiding next year…every team will be ready to play the Raiders…they will have a season of film on Hue’s offense….this team will have to buss azz next year.

  71. Just Fire Baby Says:

So with no labor agreement, and Cable’s contract up at the end of the year, does he even go into the facility the Monday after the season is over?

  72. buckeyeraider Says:

Has Randy Moss even seen the field today?
I saw him interviewed the other day and he was babbling about how much he’d like to resign in Tenn next year. He’s a southern boy and Nashville is a southern city. Blah Blah Blah.

Why, is he content just sitting on the sideline and cashing paychecks? Isn’t he a competitor?

    No, I almost forgot. He’s a Quitter.
