Seymour, Asomugha, Lechler make Pro Bowl

Defensive tackle Richard Seymour, cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha and punter Shane Lechler were the Raiders’ selections to the Pro Bowl Tuesday.

Seymour, who was at his most dominant earlier this season, is a reserve interior lineman with Baltimore’s Haloti Ngata and New England’s Vince Wilfork as the starters.

Asomugha is a starter at cornerback along with the Jets’ Darrelle Revis, with New England rookie Devin McCourty the third corner.

Running back Darren McFadden did not crack the top three running backs, with Jacksonville’s Maurice Jones-Drew (the starter), Houston’s Arian Foster and Kansas City’s Jamaal Charles getting the nod.

Place kicker Sebastian Janikowski, who set a Raiders scoring record with 135 points, lost out to Baltimore’s Billy Cundiff.

The Raiders announced that defensive tackle Tommy Kelly, tight end Zach Miller, McFadden and Janikowski were named as alternates, although it was not divulged at what level. All would have a chance to go to be added to the team if someone drops out because of injury.

it is a dreadful thing that you continually inflict your pathetically transparent self-disdains in your pretendering to be a Raider fan.

    …………..

Why in the world would anyone pretend to be a Raider fan? Who pretends to be something that gets made fun of almost anywhere it shows its face? It’s outright embarrassing being a fan of this team. You should be thanking me for hanging in there.

But he left because Al wouldn’t give him more power.

You’re saying Al would suddenly change his tune and say

“my bad, fans. I screwed up the last 8 years by not doing it right the first time.”

    ehhh, no.

    ********

He was “sent” on his way, he did not leave.

  • alex7

Wouldn’t you think the lack of control is why he started “snooping” around college jobs he wasn’t really that interested in?

regardless, zero chance he comes here.

    Hue is Al’s new love.

    ………..

    He did it with Shell.

Then again, Shell didn’t become bigger than Al Davis in his first stint her, or kick Al’s ass in a Super Bowl.

  • Just Fire Baby

That may have been the worst QB’d game I ever seen in my life last night from Mike Vick.

He could have had 5 or 6 turnovers, and was lucky to have only three.

    In Vick’s last 5 games he has 10 TD’s to 7 picks, 3 rushing TD’s to 11 fumbles with 4 lost.

13 TD’s to 11 turnovers and people want him to have MVP talk? He is falling apart at the end of the season.

  • Just Fire Baby

And if you want to go one game furthur for him, the first NYG game, than he has another two fumbles, one lost, a rushing TD and no picks or passing TD’s.

14 TD’s to 12 turnovers since the Redskins MNF debacle.

Think about that. Over 6 games (almost half the season and half of his games played) and he is barely averaging a better than 1-1 TD:turnover ratio.

I said it weeks ago, he should have got his new contract a few months ago. After he sits out next week hurt, than loses in the first round of the playoffs, his market value will decrease dramatically.

–”Some Raiders actually seemed confused that they weren’t going to get a shot at the playoffs even if they run the table in the division”–

LOL, well “young amarican” thought that was the deal too, and I tried to tell him, but he didnt get it, lets hope he now is wiser than the raiders players..

    Good Morning Nation!
Nothing new this morning, I see…

  • Just Fire Baby

    Damn those worthless Chargers!!

If they could have beat the lowly Bengals, our game this weekend would have been an exciting playoff type atmosphere, that would have been a great learning experience for our young players. Coupled that with a Chargers-Broncos game that would have also been a fun one to watch as well.

Instead, both games mean basically nothing.

Way to go Norv!!! Just as solid as ever.

  • DIRT-LOT FOOTBALL

GOOD MORNING SPORT’S FAN’S, HWNRDR,JFB.I HEAR WHAT YOUR SAY’N JFB,BUT THE RAIDERS SHOULD NOT BE RELYING ON NORV & THE CHARGERS 4 HELP.

  • hwnrdr

Good Morning Dirt Lot…are you renewing next year? I think I’ve seen enough improvement that I can move forward with…
I think what JFB meant is that if they won, and we beat KC…KC would be out…play spoiler kind of stuff…but oh well…SD did it to themselves!

  • Just Fire Baby

    Good morning DLF.

Yeah we blew an opportunity this year, but even if we won last week, this weekends game would still be meaningless.

The ’99 game against the Chiefs propelled us for a few years, and it was the same type of situation we would be facing this weekend if Norv wasn’t such a bum.

  • DIRT-LOT FOOTBALL

AS OF NOW I WILL NOT BE RENEWING HWNRDR. A LOT OF FACTORS GOING INTO MY DECISION.I HONESTLY THINK THERE WILL BE SOME GAMES LOST 2 THE LOOKOUT,BUT THAT NOT ALL. I HATE EM BUT WOULD RATHER C KC TAKE THE DIVISION OVER NORV’S BOYS IF NOT THE RAIDERS…

  • hwnrdr

I hear ya, Dirt Lot…I’m waiting for the results of the lockout! If it gets locked out, I probably won’t either!

  • DIRT-LOT FOOTBALL

NOT AN EASY DECISION 4 ME HWNRDR. MY FATHER AND HIS 3 BROTHERS HAVE BEEN SSN-TIX HOLDERS SINCE 1968 (INCLUDING L.A. YEARS )JUST 2 MANY OTHER THINGS 2 CONSIDER U KNOW..

just curious, did Kirk Morrison ever have 2 Pro Bowl DT’s in front of him?

    Morning people!

My sports world is crashing around me. The Raiders are on the verge of making another mistake in keeping Tom Cable insuring another season or two of inconsistent, mediocre play; the Cubs have done jack squat this offseason; ND isn’t looking promising for 2011; the LA Kings are good, but who cares?

And then there are the Lakers….Kobe has finally taken that step backwards and will soon become Allen Iverson part II.

My only hope? The Raiders let Cable go and convince Harbaugh to take the helm and the Lakers trade Kobe to Denver for Melo and Billups (and we could watch the Colorado fans embarrass themselves by slobbering all over Kobe after all these years of them booing him lol).

  • RaiderRockstar

it’s a rainy cloudy day. i’m feeling blue

i am both shocked and disappointed.

when do we find out if McBeast won DROY?

  • RaiderRockstar

trade Kobe Bryant to the Besiktas for Mustafa Abi?

Lakers trade Kobe to Denver for Melo and Billups

    ***

    pitch in Artest!

that would make the Lakers a classy franchise. probably why it’ll never happen

  • hwnrdr

Come on now…Kobe will stay in LA…LOL
All sports teams take that step backwards, but not worried about that yet!
Getting Harbaugh would be something but…rumors are flying that SF is going to offer hin the job come Monday!

  • RaiderRockstar

Bynum, Odom, Gasol, Fisher, Anthony & Billups = championship

I personally hope the Lakers stick with Kobe for another 4 years and sink right along with him :)

  • RaiderRockstar

Jim Tomsula = next Raiders DC

  • hwnrdr

SF hasn’t satisfied the rooney rule. Expect a visit from Dennis Green or James Lofton this week

  • RaiderRockstar

I really hope you’re kidding on this one

    ***

    why?

Many fans want to switch to a 3-4 Defense and Tomsula is an excellent young coach

He was DC for the Berlin Thunder in 2004 & 2005.

Head Coach for the Rhein Fire in 2006.

4 years as DL coach for SF he’s produced some pretty stout run defenses and turned Aubrayo Franklin into a Pro Bowl calibur NT

better candidate than John Fox imo!

  • hwnrdr

Yeah I guess…but you think we will switch to 3-4? Do we have the personnel to do it?

  • RaiderRockstar

Tomsula is only 42 years old and lives in San Jose. has Al Davis written all over him

  • RaiderRockstar

you think we will switch to 3-4? Do we have the personnel to do it?

    ***

we could have drafted Terrence Cody and signed Jamal Williams, Maake Kemoeatu & Howard Green in free agency.

all those guys can play 3-4 NT. We’ll have the same opportunity this offseason. Have to wait & see what happens. I have a feeling we will spend 2nd & 3rd rounders on a WR and CB (unless we trade for Kevin Kolb)

  • hwnrdr

As for the Rooney Rule…since they were interviewing for a GM, and Softli came in to interview, does that satisfy that rule or will they have to do it for each position?

  • RaiderRockstar

I’m pretty sure Al Davis will see that both DT’s Seymour & Kelly made the Pro Bowl and both will return next season … obvious to me that we had “STUFF THE RUN” on the mind when we drafted McClain & Houston.

doubtful we will take a nose tackle in the 1st 3 rounds this year imo. Fat Albert may be released, but we already know how he feels about 3-4 defenses!

I bet Marshall & Haluchek will be fired and somebody will be brought in with more intensity to light a fire under Rolando’s butt

  • hwnrdr

    Mike Singletary? LOL
That would be funny just to see him and Cable go at it on the sidelines…

the Raiders don’t have a therapist on staff do they?

not aware of an anger management program either.

we would need BOTH for Tom & Mike to coexist – we almost thought Hue Jackson was going to get a broken jaw a few weeks ago, remember?

apparently they both laughed about it. Hmmm

  • hwnrdr

I would love for Singletary be LB coach here. It’s already been mentioned that he will not get any coordinator or HC job. He can turn McClain into a beast!

  • YoungAmerican

LOL, well “young amarican” thought that was the deal too, and I tried to tell him, but he didnt get it, lets hope he now is wiser than the raiders players..

    ———–

Huh? I never said the Raiders would get into the playoffs if they swept the division. I don’t even think I ever discussed it with you. They weren’t getting into the playoffs without the Chiefs and Chargers losing, and even then they would have had to win their last three games. You must be confusing me with someone else.

  • YoungAmerican

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/12/29/cardinals-havent-shown-interest-in-re-signing-breaston/

Interesting. Breaston would make a good veteran addition to the WR corps. Fast guy with good hands, and can return punts as well…

  • RaiderRockstar

contract expires or will be handed walking papers:

Gradkowski, O’Sullivan, Bennett, Higgins, N Miller, M Henderson, Walker, Bryant, Moss, R Brown, Davis, Howard, Huff, Johnson

    thoughts?

  • http://atm Raider O

    McClain is a Beast!!!!

Trade RR for a poster who can see/ appreciate real talent like McPain, and is not happy with avg talent that had no real production like JLH.

  • YoungAmerican

Bryant will only go if they draft another DT who performs well in training camp.

Johnson will probably go if the Raiders draft another CB, or if Ware and McFadden show improvement in training camp.

I’ve mentioned before why I think Huff should stay, but I think it’s conceivable that he’ll get an offer somewhere else.

    The rest I agree with.

  • http://atm Raider O

I like to see cable trying to slap Singletary. Those crazy eyes!

  • RaiderRockstar

under contract or will be resigned:

    QB Campbell, Boller, Frye
    RB McFadden, Bush, Cartwright
    FB Reece
    WR Heyward-Bey, Murphy, Schilens, Ford
    TE Miller, Myers
    OT Veldheer, Barnes
    OG Gallery, Carlisle, Loper, BCamp
    C Satele
    DE ShoNasty, Scott, Houston
    DT Seymour, Kelly, Henderson
    OLB Wimbley, Groves, Williams
    MLB McClain, Goethel
    CB Asomugha, Routt, McFadden, Ware
S Mitchell, Branch, S Brown, Eugene
    ST Janikowski, Lechler, Condo

  • http://atm Raider O

I think Huff is playing for a new contract. He doesn’t play this hard, and he didn’t do much till last year.
I will only resign him, if he gives us a discount.

  • YoungAmerican

I definitely hope Loper comes back. Dude played pretty well in Gallery’s place, so he’s a good guy to keep around for depth.

I think Gallery will be re-signed for sure. He’s had a big role in Veldheer’s development.

  • http://atm Raider O

    No Huff?!?!

  • YoungAmerican

Yeah, it’s always difficult to tell with contract-year players.

Yet another reason I’m not sold on Routt. He had his best season this season, but whenever he gets burned it seems to be on key downs, or in the red zone.

  • http://atm Raider O

If we bring Cooper back, one of us should go slap Cable!!
