Still no Seymour

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Wednesday, December 29th, 2010 at 10:20 am in Oakland Raiders.

No sign of Richard Seymour as the Raiders started practice earlier than usual Wednesday.

Everyone else was accounted for, including right tackle Langston Walker, who was wearing a helmet and appeared to be getting ready to work with the first team. Walker missed the Indianapolis game, still suffering from the effects of a concussion.

    HB,

I’d much rather see the Packers or Giants in the playoffs than the NFC West division winner!

Does it really matter who wins between the Rams or Seahawks? Either team will get CRUSHED the very first week (wildcard round)
    ———————————–
I wouldn’t mind watching the Bucs if they got in. I don’t like GB and the NYG, so it doesn’t really matter to me. I realise it is 90% that Seahawks or Rams will get pummeled in 1st round, But it would be amusing to see the “underdog” pull off an upset win or two, however unlikely. Basically when the Raiders are not in the playoffs I usually find myself cheering for the underdog or cheering for the team that is playing against the Pats or Steelers or Colts. (sooooo tired of them). Dare I say I may cheer for the Cheifs to represent the AFC west.

  • RaiderRockstar

if the Jags win and the Colts lose (only beat Tennessee by 2 points three weeks ago) Peyton Manning will be watching the playoffs on the couch like us!

  • HairyBush

Why is MJD starting ahead of Arian Foster in pro bowl? purely name recognition?

  • Just Fire Baby

I just don’t get the hate on the ST this year.

Yes the AZ game started and ended with a disaster (we did recover TWO fumbled punts that day though) and the entire Jax game was a disaster and cost us the game.

But on the flip side, the KC game we had a KO TD to start the 2nd half, than forced and recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff. Seabass made two tough, clutch FG’s in the rain to tie and win the game. We certainly don’t win the 1st Charger game as well with the two blocked punts.

You look at other games as well, and ST was mostly solid.

ST cost us two games, won us two games, and played well in most other games.

At worst it was a push on the year.

JCamp isn’t going to put this team on his back and will it to victory week in & week out, but he can do his job with some form of competency and he certainly isn’t the weak link holding this team back!

OK, then, we’ll call it the coulda, woulda, shoulda, can theory. LOL

If there were some legit coaches that were beating down Al’s door to coach the Raiders, I would definetley entertain the idea of a new coach.

    …………

Clever. Don’t bother offering coaches lucrative contracts with substantial control, then tell your fans that it’s the coaches who don’t want to come here. Davisism 101.

If the Seahawks make the playoffs they will get destroyed.

But I think the Rams at home might play the Saints a little tighter than some might think.

They played a few weeks ago in New Orleans, and the score looks worse than the game was. I believe Bradford was going in for a score in the 3rd quarter to really tighten it up, and it ended up like a 100 yard pick six.

I’m rooting for the Rams, our only other win against a playoff team other than our division winner.

Kick coverage game had big letdowns…..punt return game awful….Janikowski was a disgrace this year…AZ and Jax….

Pluses for J. Ford’s returns…although his fumble contributed to the lost season

Best QB since Gannon is not much of an honor…

Jano a disgrace? I wouldn’t go that far… He certainly cost us a few games, but hind sight is , on nm…

Nick Miller has not been terrible on returns, he looks like Desean Jackson compared to higgins

    Hollas was before Gannon.

I hate Gannon. He is a complete POS Raider hater. Did you see his lame azz “red scarf and tie” he was wearing during the Chiefs v Titans broadcast? He bashes the Raiders every chance he gets. Not to mention he single handedly lost the SuperBowl. 5 int’s in ONE F’ING GAME? Tom Brady only had 4 through 15 games…

    ………..

I’m not even sold on him being the best QB since Gannon, and of course that seems to be the company line now. LOL. You can just tell by the people who are saying it. We’re a running team, and we’ve succeeded with the run. That’s helped Campbell’s rating. I don’t think he’s better than Gradkowski. I don’t even know that he’s better than Kerry Collins. But if they want to keep saying it and basing it on a couple of stats to back it up, more power to them.

  • http://www.flynnlives.com/ Kevin Flynn

Campbell is NOT better than Gradkowski or Collins PERIOD. All three SUCK. We need Kolb or Carson Palmer.

  • Just Fire Baby

Janikowski just fell apart in the desert, but when else has he really faltered?

He was money in the KC game.

Both our kick returns and kick coverage return averages where in the top half of the league, and that doesn’t account for Seabass still at the top of the league in touchbacks. And Shane made the Pro Bowl again.

Just two bad games, and punt returns. Your not going to have special teams perfection for 16 games.

  • http://www.flynnlives.com/ Kevin Flynn

We will CONTINUE to be an 8-8 team with Jason Campbell.

  • VanHeathen

    Flynn…
Gannon was at a serious disadvantage considering he was playing against the coach who drew up all of the plays he was running, who was now teaching those plays to the other defense, terminology and all…
It’s one thing to have film, but to have all the info on each formation/adjustment is a massive advantage.
Maybe Al cost us that Superbowl by TRADING the Coach to a SuperBowl Contender?

  • Just Fire Baby

He did play in KC for years.

Fans always care way more about this stuff than the players. A lot of players’ best friends in the game now, or not teammates but other guys that share the same agent.

Can’t take this stuff too serious. Rich Gannon has a new job now, he is pretty good at it, and it does not entail him hyping up the Raiders for no reason.

    ……….

When did he earn his first round draft status, is the question. Al could have gotten Jano numbers out of walk on kickers throughout his tenure.

  • Just Fire Baby

Jano earned his first round status last week.

99% of the kickers in the history of the game have never made a 59 yarder.

  • http://www.flynnlives.com/ Kevin Flynn

If not Jano, who would you rather have as a kicker? Cundiff? Gramatica? Akers? Vinatieri? Feely? Cocklicker? Douchesniffer?

  • http://www.aldavissucks.blogspot.com The Real MaddenRaider

Earned it last week? In a loss? JFB, you’re usually safe and careful about what you say. This is a rare, unhinged moment for you.

Problem is ‘He Fell Apart’ at all!
    He’s a kicker, a veteran and he’s out of shape…
Kid has been a MindF**k since he came in the league.
do you remember the GHB charge/ Bribing an Officer?
nearly deported, all before he played 1 game.
The Snow room incident, the fight at the Steak House?
Cellulitous, from the carpet at his house…
    Not even mentioning the misses…
And now he’s overweight, runs like a weeble,

    JFB,

Janikowski gets paid big money to be big time kicker. He’s unreliable in the big games….that Arizona game he missed some 3 or 4 kicks….the Jax game he couldn’t put the damn ball in the endzone.

Tell him to hit the treadmill during training camp instead of having to bring in a substitute kicker to kick for him while he plays golf!

  • http://www.flynnlives.com/ Kevin Flynn

5 int’s IN ONE GAME!! ONE FING GAME. UNO. ONE. 1.

  • Just Fire Baby

He leads the NFL in points, 50+ yarders made, and is 2nd in touchbacks.

He is easily one of the best 5 kickers in the game.

  • http://www.aldavissucks.blogspot.com The Real MaddenRaider

A kicker drafted in the first round is winning games left and right. Venatieri turned out to be everything that Al had hoped Jano would be. Venatieri was undrafted.

Jano is, for all intents and purposes, a bust, particularly where his value as a first round draft pick is concerned. We could have gotten much out of Shaun Alexander or Keith Bulluck. Al’s a gambler. Some gamblers are winners, some are losers.

  • http://www.flynnlives.com/ Kevin Flynn

Agree Jano needs to hit the treadmill and eat a salad, but hey, I bet most of you on this list are fatties too… So eat a salad yourself.

True…so true…goes back to Tom CAble’s Club Med approach.

Sebastian’s major issue this year is the 40-49 range. 8 of 12 is not going to cut it.

But 20 of 21 from 39 yards in (yes the one miss was a killer) and the most 50+ yarders in the league.

All in all, about 90% of the league would trade kickers with us in a heartbeat, and maybe 95% of the league.
