UPDATE: Hue Jackson has been named head coach of the Raiders, a source close to Jackson confirms.
ESPN and Fox Sports are both reporting that Hue Jackson has been hired as Raiders head coach.
We’ll see if a confirmation is forthcoming by the Raiders. Officials have been unavailable for comment so far today.
According to Adam Schefter, it is likely that Al Saunders will be Jackson’s offensive coordinator.

Priest – Its been reported that Cable’s pay was deducted due to a league imposed fine by the NFLPA and another entity on the Raiders due to the intensity of the OTA practices.
It was a judgement by the union per their contract. The responsiblity of the OTA practices and the intensity thereof was solely on Tom Cable. Hence, he was responsible for the fine imposed!
If these are the facts as reported Davis is completely within his rights and rightly held Cable responsible for his own practice routine. Why the hel would I pay that large of a fine for Tom Cable and his buffoonery when I don’t even want him as HC?
January 17th, 2011 at 4:34 pm
Secondly, if the Raiders did it again they would lose a 4th round draft pick per the rules. So Al was absolutely correct to hold Cable responsible and make him absorb the cost and not give him a free ride to think he can do it again! This is serious. Losing a pick in the draft due to this BS? Crazy! I would have made him pay.

Adam Schefter knows everything. I wish he would pick my lotto numbers.
January 17th, 2011 at 4:36 pm

did anybody see that duck that Yermiah bell picked off on a play that Jacoby ford was open by 20 yards? why the hell was Grads in the game when it was clear, he could not make a throw down field?
**********************************
Better question is , why was our OC and future HC, dialing up a play-action 8 step drop 50 yard pass for our noodle-armed, injured backup QB?
Did Hue really send in that play-call and think it was going to work?
—————
The OC was on record this year to say he doesnt need to change the gameplan regardless of JC or Grad. Another one of those wtf moment?
January 17th, 2011 at 4:37 pm
Doin’ my best impression of James Brown, right now!!
January 17th, 2011 at 4:39 pm
The right man got the job!
Now we need a coaching staff.
January 17th, 2011 at 4:41 pm
who is our next def coordinator? I thought Marshall did a good job.
January 17th, 2011 at 4:42 pm
How… unshocking…
January 17th, 2011 at 4:42 pm
ok let go!!! get to work hue..
January 17th, 2011 at 4:44 pm
Al Saunders will be a good OC/ play caller for the Raiders. If that is the case then all that crying over Hue Jackson’s play calling is a moot point.
January 17th, 2011 at 4:45 pm
I thought Marshall did a lot of good things.
How about bringing in Jim Mora?
He has the kind of enthusiasm we need.
January 17th, 2011 at 4:45 pm
Good offensive minds intact. Now lets get a D-Coordinator.
I would look into the DB/secondary coaches of all the teams who played this past weekend in the playoffs and offer the best fit, the job.
January 17th, 2011 at 4:45 pm
Is John Marshall out also?
Just when we start to climb out of the hole Al pushes us right back in.
January 17th, 2011 at 4:45 pm
now that he is head coach fire hue jackson
January 17th, 2011 at 4:46 pm
Hell yeah, Jim Mora Jr would be awesome for us.
January 17th, 2011 at 4:46 pm
5-11 with 30th ranked run defense. mark it!
January 17th, 2011 at 4:47 pm
Okay Now Hue can hire his assistants ………….LOL
January 17th, 2011 at 4:47 pm
Jax better be careful w crazy Al. Al will eventually hate all his HCs with a hint of a spine. When and not if crazy Al turns on his HC he’ll do anything and everything including walking all over his team to bring him down.
January 17th, 2011 at 4:49 pm
hire tom cable as offensive co-ordinator
January 17th, 2011 at 4:50 pm
Anyone familiar with saunders don’t know much about him. How is he regarded around the league and would this be an upgrade from Jackson now that he’s the head coach. Someone fill me in please…………
January 17th, 2011 at 4:50 pm
I don’t think Hue will do anything to ruffle Coach Davis’ feathers.
January 17th, 2011 at 4:51 pm
So what about Marshall? Any confirmation on him?

Al Davis is the fulfillment of prophecy. Mr. Davis represents the 144,000 “chosen ones” spoken of in Revelation. Being a descendant of fleshly Israel, he is duly postioned to take his proper place among the ‘Holy Ones’.
Prophecy states that a savior would come in “White robes and linen” which can be accurately compared to, and represented by the white jump suit that Mr. Davis has been known to adorn.
Prophecy also speaks of a “lord of zion” who would come from the east (Brooklyn) and would rise in the west (Oakland). Prophecy also speaks of the zionist nation being in the wilderness “for 40 years”. The Raiders have indeed been in the wilderness for 40 years if you take the 7 (seven means completness) losing seasons and multiply them by 6 you have 42. Add the number 8 (for 8 losses/wins this past season)and you have the number 50. Take away 10 from that and you have 40 (as in 40 years in the “wilderness”)and you match the prophetic number rightly attributed to Mr. Davis.

Hue Jackson HC, Al Saunders OC, both great hires!
Got to get a better WR’s coach. DC on staff already don’t have to look far, promote Mike Waufle, he did a great job with the D line.
January 17th, 2011 at 4:52 pm
Terrapin,
The thing is, there have been at least a dozen teams the last couple of years that have been fined and lost a few days of practice due to these violations.
NONE of those organizations fined their coach.
Only our bat $hit crazy owner gets mad at our coach for trying to bend the rules.
What happened to Just Win Baby??
Now Al wants to run a squeeky clean program and side with the player union and be told what his team can and can’t instead of his own coaches?
Craziness!!!!
January 17th, 2011 at 4:53 pm
mike waufle should open a waffle house
January 17th, 2011 at 4:54 pm
JFB – How do you know NO team fined their HC? HOW?
January 17th, 2011 at 4:54 pm
Promote Mike Waufle!
January 17th, 2011 at 4:54 pm
Al Saunders interviewed Saunders years ago when Norv left I believe. I only remember Saunders being asked what he would do with all those weapons in Oakland he replied: Score alot of Touchdowns.
January 17th, 2011 at 4:54 pm
it deosn’t matter who the HC or DC is. the HC will be gone in 2.5 years and al runs the defense. sad but true.
al saunders?! tom walsh must be busy. like i said, 5-11 with a piss-poor run defense.
January 17th, 2011 at 4:56 pm
Don’t worry about the WRs coach. Lal wouldn’t last 30 seconds in the same room discussing routes with Saunders.
January 17th, 2011 at 4:58 pm
Al Saunders made Priest Holmes the most feared back in football. Then Larry Johnson.
Imagine what he will do with DMAC.
January 17th, 2011 at 4:59 pm
What Al announce him in the press conference as Hue Jackman..
January 17th, 2011 at 5:00 pm
JMcClain,
Saunders ran those great Chiefs defenses with Priest Holmes. Of course, they had one of the best o-lines I’ve ever seen, but they were awesome. He’s a good fit with our personnel. Ground it and chuck it.
Campbell’s a problem though. Won’t throw downfield.
January 17th, 2011 at 5:00 pm
The Al Saunders offense, an Air Coryell offense, requires a quarterback with a very accurate sense of timing and trust with the receiver which could not be replicated in Washington during Brunell’s 2006 season.

part of saunders bio um folks we are screwed
January 17th, 2011 at 5:00 pm
Dude …Al Saunders is widely acclaimed around the league. At first I forgot who it was although I recognized the name. But memory came back and this guy is a guru of offenses. Washington paid him $6mm under Gibbs. He was the asst head coach during the Greatest Show on Turf. He ran the KC offense in the early 2000s, which as a juggernaut! It was the top offense in the NFL for consecutive years running!!!!!
Holy sht man …this would be a major coup …my goodness. Its Al SAUNDERS!!! In offensive circles thats the equivalent of Mike Martz’s reputation, or Cam Cameron, or Norv Turner himself as OC. This is big.
Now I’m probably too damn excited. Hope these boys don’t let me down. It may be a shortened season which will have impact. Just don’t let the Nation down. Go get ‘em. SB BABY!!!

NFL Network reporting Hue is after Al Saunders for OC and Chuck Pagano (DB coach of Ravens) for DC.
Might be a hell of a staff.

Uhhhh….because I spent about 20 minutes looking it up before I typed it??
This guy!!!!
You see, that’s what I do. Before I type something, I cross check for a few minutes. That way, most all my “opinions” are at least somewhat factually relevant.
You should give it a whirl sometime.

The Ancients speak of an un-utterable name which could only be heard in whispers. It floats on the breeze of the Autumn Wind and is most sacred. The name is of a “Great One”. The promises “seed” first referred to in the book of Ezekial. The name is Alvin Martin Davis.
May he live on long after he isn’t.
January 17th, 2011 at 6:03 pm
I wonder who’ll be head coach in 2012.
January 17th, 2011 at 6:03 pm
Good start. I cant believe im saying this but good job al davis now hire a gm and retire

Alrighty…..here we go w/Alzheimer’s AL and his stanky stuff……entitled, “Revolving Coaches” (Please sing to the melody of “Green Acres” TV show.)
AL’s folly is for all to see,
Oakland Raiders is the team for me,
Coaches spreading out so far and wide,
Keep hiring and firing, just give me those days gone by.
Coach upon coach is what I’d rather do,
Dementia and inconsistency is the cardinal rule,
AL just adores paying coaches half the price,
Dah-Ling I love you, but AL’s fantasy is not-so-nice.
Vertical attack, 1969
Man to man, mighty fine,
Revolving Coaches, aint so cool…..
AL knows best, nobody’s fool….
You are AL’s life,
Cable’s gone, now Jackson’s his wife,
OAKLAND RAIDERS WE ARE THERE !!!
