Davis-Jackson: Fit for print

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Wednesday, January 19th, 2011 at 7:21 am in Oakland Raiders.

Today’s Bay Area News Group offerings regarding Monday’s festivities as Al Davis speaks for the first time in 15 months, and oh, by the way, Hue Jackson is hired as head coach:

Columnist Monte Poole reminds everyone that even at age 81, Al Davis remains a proud and defiant warrior.

Beat writer Steve Corkran reports on a coaching change to Jackson that was a year in the making.

Columnist Tim Kawakami says it was a “blunt-force destruction” of former coach Tom Cable.

Beat writer and Steve Corkran and I compile a notebook of some of the day’s events.

MORE FROM INSIDEBAYAREA.COM, MERCURYNEWS.COM

Columnist Cam Inman says Hue Jackson’s day lasted about 10 minutes before Davis dominated with his case against Cable.

Kawakami’s `Talking Points’ blog has the post-press conference gaggle at the desk where Davis is seated, with other items and thoughts preceeding it.

A slide show of Tuesday’s press conference.

Jeremy Bates could be the next OC too, I think Saunders was the guy, but with the news of Bates being let go, they may have taken a step back, to try and interview this guy. They can still bring in Saunders as an offensive consultant, or he could replace Lal as WR coach with maybe an Assistant HC title. Just conjecture on my part.

Could go both ways with Saunders.Consultant or coach.

    BCZ,

would you be upset if Hackett stayed as QB Coach and Tollner replaced Lal as WR Coach ???

Saunders as offensive consultant would complete the old dude trifecta!

Anyone would do better than Lal…haha
Funny…on twitter, Jerry said that Rich Sneed was sho replaced Lombardi but lasted only 8 months…lol

Chargers cut prices by nearly 15 percent on 6,500 seats
Posted by Mike Florio on January 19, 2011, 9:39 AM EST
Wisely, NFL teams facing challenges to sell tickets have commenced the process of making those tickets more enticing. On Tuesday, the Buccaneers announced that prices would be cut for “tens of thousands” of seats. The Chargers have now announced that they’ll lower ticket prices for nearly 10 percent of the seats at Qualcomm Stadium.

All other ticket prices will be unchanged for 2011.

Specifically, 6,500 “View Level” end zone season tickets, which were priced at $63 per game in 2010, will now cost $54. The $9 drop reflects a reduction of roughly a 15 percent.

“We think lowering the price of these 6,500 season seats gives us the best chance to fill Qualcomm Stadium next year,” Chargers Executive Vice President A.G. Spanos said in a team-issued release. “A full, loud stadium gives us the strongest home-field advantage and allows the fans at home to enjoy the game as well.”

A full stadium also allows the games to be televised locally, which probably is the primary reason for adjusting the price points on 6,500 seats, and for not increasing the prices on the others.

Someone please tell me that Al merely misspoke when he called Cam Newton, “KIM”, not once – but twice.

If Al really doesn’t know his name, we better pray that the mystery GM returns in time for the draft.

  22. neilb Says:

    Got to go.

    Have a great Wednesday everyone.

  23. Raider O Says:

Mel Kiper had CB B Harris going to the Racens at 26.
If Brandon Harris is available late in the 1st, I think Al should trade up to draft him.
Best pure man CB in this draft IMHO.

  24. Lynn from Snot Says:

BTW , Who the hell has been beating AL up ???? This is surly a case of elder abuse. Did TC get in a few blows on the way out???

  25. Raider O Says:

    LMAO

  26. hwnrdr Says:

So does that mean we’re going back to power line again? Could mean that the line may suck again…

  27. Mistic1 Tha Supavillain Says:

This is what it means to be a raider. Haters everywhere including the local media. My beloved city of Oakland is constantly trashed & treated as a second class city in the shadow of SF. The coliseum is regarded as a crumbling dump ( true ) & it’s fans are all thugs & convicts (untrue). Davis is a lunatic, the head coach is a puppet that failed before the ink dries on his dirt cheap contract. Our players are busts, has beens & retreads.

They hate everything about us top to bottom. Winning next year is going to be sweet! We are the villains & the bad guys in black!

I wouldn’t have it any other way! Long live Oakland, long live the Raiders & Al Davis!

    It’s a silver & black thing, you wouldn’t understand.

  28. Raider O Says:

    I don’t like ZBS.

  29. RAIDERMAN99 Says:

Sorry to say, the old man looked really bad.

Not just the wound on his forehead. He looks malnourished. His right eye is noticeably larger than his left. Wouldn’t be surprised if he had a mild stroke or something. Didn’t see the entire conference, but I never saw him use his left hand or motion with it. His right hand appeared atrophied.

One of the posters here really cracked me up when he said “I hope Al gives leprosy to Nancy Gay” or something like that.

Love him or hate him, Al is one of a kind. He’s great theater.

I’m going to miss him when he’s gone. That’s if I outlive him.

  30. Raider O Says:

I hope I’m just as sharp as Al when I’m 81! Amazing.

  31. Lynn from Snot Says:

Did anyone catch Al swearing at the guy running the presser??? I thought i heard him tell him ..”You really effed up ” or something to that effect. They cut it on the replay.

  32. hwnrdr Says:

I heard he dropped a couple F Bombs yesterday.

  33. bcz24 Says:

Huff said something about Al cussin people out on Twitter.

  34. RaiderDuck Says:

Davis looked horrible (even when compared with his appearance for the Kiffin roast in ‘08), but he sounded OK.

    So, maybe we’re looking at:
    HC Jackson
    OC Saunders
    DC Waufle or Moss

Tollner coaching either the QBs or WRs?

  35. RAIDERMAN99 Says:

Yup, he’s still very sharp even if he sometimes struggles remembering names and tends to ramble a little.

Al’s a tough old geezer and I wish he spoke to the Nation alot more often.

It’s fascinating watching the guy, trying to see how he thinks, and gain insight into what goes on within the organization.

  36. JONTRAIN Says:

  38. J Hill Says:

Al was really upset with Cable, lol.

Point that makes the most sense is Cable could’ve been fired and paid NO $. Not a dime. Al let him keep his 2 million dollar salary, his NFL HC position, and he complains abouta fine he’s known about forever to Schefter after his contract is not renewed?

  40. J Hill Says:

Those of us who speculated Davis would be livid about his “We’re not losers any more” quote issued after the Chiefs game and during his final press conference were on point. He made one sarcastic reference to it, then later expanded upon his feelings when asked directly if it bothered him.

“I went back and checked it thoroughly. Cable has been in football 20 years, had been with a winning team three years out of 20,” Davis said. “I didn’t like his statement, and some of you took it and used it, but I didn’t like it. If that’s not being a loser in our world, I don’t know what it is, come in 500. That’s never been my goal.”

  42. J Hill Says:

The root of the Marcus Allen feud in Davis’ mind is that he offered him the most money ever paid to a running back and Allen not only turned him down, but ripped him during a halftime interview on Monday Night Football.

    ——————————————————-

So much for the rumors of the girlfriend, lol.

I guess we were both wrong on that one.

  43. Raider O Says:

    J,

    So….
I think Scott is a bum?!
It’s too early for this, but get your purse ready.

  44. RAIDERMAN99 Says:

There’s been so much talk about the Al Davis show, that we’ve almost lost sight of the reason for the press conference.

That, of course, was to announce Hue as the Raider Head Coach.

    I’m very impressed with Hue.

Hue isn’t only energetic and passionate, he’s articulate.

And that’s a most important trait.

You want to be a good or great coach, then you’ve got to be able to effectively communicate and express yourself.

Not only to teach/instruct players but to handle the press.

I’ve got good feelings about Hue, and not just because of the increase in offensive production he’s already helped deliver.

The guy exudes confidence without being arrogant. Some people have been mocking him for calling Al ‘coach’, but I like it. It shows respect.

  45. Raider O Says:

I like the new Audi A8, but I don’t like luxury cars that have the same parts as an avg car.

    Jaguar = Ford
    Cadillac = GM products

    That’s why I like BMW!

  46. J Hill Says:

I’m not fighting with you bruh, just reminding you that you really do think Trevor Scott is terrible.

    Trust me!

  47. Raider O Says:

I’m glad you are gone you POS!

  48. BART Bridge Blues Says:

    Wow, what a day Nation,
Hue Jackson is our next head coach
Mark Davis will take over the team when Al moves on
Paul Hackett and Michalczik are gone (along with zbs)
Mike Waufle is getting a raise or promotion
the power line is coming back
Jason Campbell is our QB for the forseeable future
Nnamdi aint coming back, unless he takes a paycut
The defense might be cruising towards an overhaul
we will never get a real GM, while Al is running things

  49. bcz24 Says:

Hopefully we wont have to sit through any more mindless pressers… Were almost there, we turned the corner but it was an alley and not the right corner, and my favorite of all time ‘Hip Hip Hooray’.

  50. Raider O Says:

    LMAO
I like Scott as a pass rusher, but I don’t think he is an every-down DE.

I like Scott a lot, and I don’t think he is a bum.
    You are mistaken. Trust me!

  51. Mistic1 Tha Supavillain Says:

After the presser local radio guys here in Oakland spent the rest of the day killing Davis & claiming Hu Jack has no shot. This morning more of the same, it’s sickening! Davis let go of a loser coach. Cable leaked this fine story as a way to embarras Davis, & Davis spanked him. I don’t have a problem with it at all. Davis also roughed up the local newspaper guys that routinly hammer on the raiders. Davis in a lot of ways is like a lot of Oakland natives. Don’t mess with my money & if you try to clown me I’m gonna beat that a$$.

I hope Al lives to be 150 years old, there is nothing like the silver & black!

  52. J Hill Says:

  53. bcz24 Says:

    Audi = VW
    Lexus = Toyota
    Infiniti = Nissan
    Accura = Honda
    Jaguar = Ford
    Cadillac = GM products
    *********
Audi, yes it is owned by VW, but in case you hadnt noticed, VW also owns Lamborghini and Bugatti. I will take their inspiration into my automobile 10 times out of 10.
Lexus is a high end Toyota, Toyota also happens to make the most reliable vehicles on the planet (dont believe that garbage about the accelerator pedals and what not, Toyota was railroaded on that)
Both Infiniti and Nissan are above average automakers
Acura and Honda make the best engines in any car on the planet
Jaguar is no longer owned by Ford, and is phasing out the manufacturing similarities (Ford does still own Mazda though)
Cadillac, yes they are a GM brand, but they are much less closely related than you think.

  54. RAIDERMAN99 Says:

Celebrating reaching .500 and proclaiming ‘we’re not losers anymore’ doesn’t cut it and isn’t the Raiders.

The zone blocking system isn’t the Raiders. It’s ok to incorporate some ZBS, but the Raids should be smash mouth.

  55. J Hill Says:

I like Scott as a pass rusher, but I don’t think he is an every-down DE.

    ——————————————————-

You’re right, he’s a situational pass rusher. I agree with that. Those guys are replaceable.

Remember the context of the conversation was Moss getting a roster spot.

Trevor Scott at DE was the SOLE reason we HAD to trade for Seymour last season. Trevor Scott at OLB is the reason we have Groves playing LB who most people are calling the weak link of the LB crew.

    Scott is ….. replaceable!

    Is that better?

  56. BART Bridge Blues Says:

so by my count, we need:

    a new O.C.
    a new D.C.(maybe Waufle)
a new offensive line coach (very important hire)
a new QB coach (Could be Tollner)
a new LB coach (maybe Biekert)
    maybe a new WR coach

    Some names to consider:

of course Al Saunders as O.C.
Ken Zampese as O.C., maybe QB coach
    Bill Musgrave as O.C.
    Joe Pendry as O-line coach
    Kim Helton as O-line coach
    John Matsko as O-line coach

  57. J Hill Says:

Let’s not overlook Jer’s status with Big Al, lol.

Seems the old guy is fully aware of Jer and his legion of semi pro bloggers.

Is it me, or did it seem that Al pretty much covered every question that been posed on this board?

  58. Raider O Says:

-I hate that Vtec Honda engine. Give me a toyota or nissan engine and I’ll be happy.
-they use the same frame and parts on VW/ Audi.
If you don’t mind spending an extra 20-30k for the brandname, then go for it

-Lexus engines used to say toyota!

I’m not paying for the brandname.
BMW is the best car ever made IMHO.

  59. Raider O Says:

    J,

    Much better.
    I can agree with that.

  60. bcz24 Says:

Why hate the VTEC? Its revolutionary technology that nearly every automaker in the world has copied! They of course call it different things, but Variable Displacement by any other name… How much do you actually know about VTEC and what it does?

  61. YoungAmerican Says:

I’ll give Cable credit for creating good chemistry in the locker room, and helping the Raiders get to .500 (which may not mean a lot to the owner, but to the players it was an important milestone).

    But let’s recap:

Cable went 2-8 outside of the AFC West.

Cable lost the team training camp days.

Cable was responsible for numerous lawsuits filed against the Raiders, by Randy Hanson and two women.

Cable brought a girlfriend on the road with him (a violation of team policy in itself), and allegedly hit her there.

Personally, I think Al had plenty of good reasons to show Cable the door.

I’ll give Cable credit for creating good chemistry in the locker room, and helping the Raiders get to .500 (which may not mean a lot to the owner, but to the players it was an important milestone).

^^^^^it was pretty huge to me too

    But let’s recap:

Cable went 2-8 outside of the AFC West.

^^^^^^well, why wasn’t it hue’s fault, he had power over the offense, and Al and Marshal had power over the defense, that leaves ST for Cable to be blamed for, and they did okay

Cable lost the team training camp days.

^^^^^^What the he11 does htat mean

Cable was responsible for numerous lawsuits filed against the Raiders, by Randy Hanson and two women.

^^^^^^true, but it all happened before season start, so why keep him?

Cable brought a girlfriend on the road with him (a violation of team policy in itself), and allegedly hit her there.

^^^^^^SO?!?, couldnt care less, in fact it makes him more raider-ish.. my question is, is it suddenly a team-policy, is it something Al just made up during the season, because I never heard about it, and oh yeah btw, Gruden had her wife visiting during road-games

Personally, I think Al had plenty of good reasons to show Cable the door.
^^^^^^well good for you, personally I dont give a rats a55, who’s coaching, it wont matter in the end… when the love story ends Al will have Presser, and you will say the exact same about Hue.. I give it 2 years..

  70. BoJacks Says:

One question for you all that hasn’t really been addressed…Jackson’s behavior towards Cable during the season.

Taking responsibility for benching Campbell during the Rams game…

Instances of contradicting Cable’s statements during the season when he held press conferences…

The story, likely planted by Jackson’s well-connected agent (see Al’s reference to the agent repping some of the best players in the league), about Cable and Jackson not getting along…

Jackson taking shots at Cable during the presser (”respect him as a coach”, “great O-LINE coach”, downplaying previous relationship)…

A coach doesn’t have to have great personal character to be successful (see Belichick, Bill) but I think something has to be said about a subordinate falling in line behind the captain. Could this be another Mike White backstabbing Art Shell again?

I also see that Jackson’s statements are geared around stroking Al’s ego and saying the things that Al believes, like Randy Hanson and so many other unsuccessful former coaches. Usually not a good sign if the independence needed to do the job is there.

These just seem like red flags to me and Al hasn’t been the greatest judge of character lately. I’ll withhold judgement about Hue until September…or whenever the season starts.

    Fingers crossed though

  71. bcz24 Says:

Yeah. I have a degree in Automotive Technology, I have built engines with over 700hp. Cars are about the only thing in the world I am as passionate about as football. I’m not saying Al doesn’t bear a lot of the blame for the Raiders’ recent struggles. In fact, most of it is on him. But it’s not like Cable was Coach of the Year or something. The guy did some things right, but as soon as you start costing the franchise a lot of money by making it the target of numerous lawsuits, you can’t expect to keep your job. Not to mention that if you’re the head coach, you’re in charge of the overall quality of the final product – and 2-8 outside the division is not any kind of quality.

If Al has equally viable reasons to fire Hue in a year, two years, six months, then by all means he should. I’ll reserve my judgment on Hue for when I get to see how he handles the new HC duties. Hopefully he can continue the progress this young team is making.

  174. BART Bridge Blues Says:

Hue Jackson was the QB coach at Baltimore in 2009. Hiring him as our O.C. was a big promotion for him, a test of his coaching skills by Al Davis and a check on Tom Cable’s play-calling.

Jackson was asked what he thought was one of his strengths as a coach. He responded that getting to know his players as people was one. Then he expanded on that a bit, saying that even though he was the OC, he took it upon himself to get to know the guys on the defensive side of the ball.

The irony didn’t escape me that not long before that, he had referred to Rolando McClain as “Renaldo.”

I can forgive him for it. RC’s first name often stumps me too. Still, it seem our new coach has trouble with names as does the owner.

All humor aside, I am impressed so far with Jackson and have to admit that he is at least as, and probably more than, responsible for the improvement on the offensive side of the ball. Maybe Cable did improve the play of the guys on the O-line. I don’t know, but it’s clear from his remarks, that Jason Campbell grew more comfortable with the system from Jackson’s tutelage, not from Cable’s.

Now, so what, you say? It’s Jason Campbell? Well, he’s our QB, like it or not, and he did show IMO, great improvement as the season progressed. If Jackson can impart a sense of confidence in Jason that will help him use his physical tools (you can’t argue that the guy doesn’t have physical tools) then that’s great. During the presser, Al stressed that many a QB didn’t flourish until later in his career. I can see how he feels that way about JC.

Lastly, I couldn’t help feeling really, really sad. My dad died at 80, after a long and debilitating fight with heart disease and lung problems. He also was suffering from dementia the last few years of his life. Before he began to exhibit those mental signs, however, when we’d help him get ready to go somewhere, this proud man whose body had once been a cathedral of strength, would look at us pitifully and say, “Kids, it’s hell getting old.”

It has to be really hard for Al Davis, whose pride (in the Biblical sense) has always been a problem for him, to put himself front and center in front of the people and the cameras, knowing that both will capture his physical infirmities and that many will try to ridicule mental infirmities. That he still will do so speaks of his passion. You have to give him that–that in his frail state, he hasn’t given up the spirit that still resides within. Most people that frail would give it up. Not Al. For that, with all his faults, I have to give him some respect.

And didn’t he come right back on the next play and hit Ford in stride deep but Ford dropped the ball?

I agree with you on the back shoulder throws, or lack thereof though.

Let me ask the semi pro’s out there this. Don’t you think the back shoulder throw is something that is practiced? Do you think we practice that play since I’ve never seen a Raider QB make that throw? I don’t even recall Gardowski doing that.

He owned up to sometimes making poor choices of head coaches, spoke of issues with Cable and Russell, spoke fairly of Gruden, Turner, and some of the other coaching situations over the years. Mr. Davis still exhibits a strong and keen mind. My Dad passed at 95 years of age and was also very sharp at the end. But he also became very hard headed and should have deferred to the ideas of others from time to time. I picked at Mr. Davis earlier this week for not having another strong, trusted football personality in the office off which he could bounce his ideas. Mr. Davis obviously still has good ideas and thinks his way through decisions, but it would help the Raiders’ overall efforts immensely if he would just choose someone to who he could delegate some of his authority. All in all, the Raiders are on a path that is leading from the wastelands of the last years. Also, to those who picked at how Mr. Davis looked… I am sure the man knows he does not look well. It takes a strong person to just talk through that. Onward and upward!

Are you a raider fan. If i remember correctly you were one of the people trying to say grads should be the starter! You argued with me and grads was a better player. You lost that debate, didnt you? You have the balls to question me? You obviously dont know much about football. Gradkowski…..laughable

  300. KoolKell Says:

Davis clearly was upset with marshall, this is why he brought in wauffle, he said as much. Wauffle runs one of the most agressive d-lines in the leauge. This is how the giants won the super bowl, this is why we have 4 d-line players with at least 7 sacks. this is why we have the second most sacks in the nfl, and without a bunch of blitzing!

“We are going to be an agressive defense” “Its the raider way” – Hu Jack
    ————————————-
Wauffle is a great D-Line coach, I agree.

But, I’ve heard every new Raiders Head Coach spout aggressive platitudes at his Al Davis hiring presser since before you were born.

    Luvmarvhub,

over the years as I have travelled about meeting all manner of folk throughout the world (mostly living on a shoestring budget necessitating cultural immersion wherever I have been), many persons have expressed their consternation about “American culture” and have asked if I could explain it to them. The best I could tell them is that overall it is an adolescent culture. Beyond that, the single best synopsis I could give them was Whitman’s “everything you can possibly say about the United States is true.”

  314. DMAC Says:

    Here’s a little A’s news for my fellow A’s fans like myself….

Ahtletics signed LHP Brian Fuentes to a two-year contract with a club option for 2013.
Terms weren’t disclosed, but he will reportedly earn $10.5 million over the length of the contract. With the recent additions of Fuentes and Grant Balfour, the A’s now have one of the most impressive bullpens in the American League. Fuentes profiles as an elite left-handed specialist, though he’s not a bad insurance policy for Andrew Bailey, who is working his way back from elbow surgery.
    =======
Watch out! Billy Beane is putting together a championship pitching staff. Now we need our power hitters.
    Go A’s!

He cant resign anyone or give anyone new deals, or perform any transactions with players at all until a new CBA is worked out.

    ————–

Could have signed Wimbley, for instance, to a new deal after trading for him, though. Could have done a lot of things during the season.

GB just gave their young CB a new deal. I’ve actaully seen a few deals made so far, and was kinda confused about how they could do that.

  316. Dakota Says:

Al Saunders (born February 1, 1947) is the current Offensive Consultant for the Baltimore Ravens.

Born in London, England, he became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1960, and is one of four foreign-born coaches in the NFL. In college played Defensive Back and Wide Receiver for the Spartans of San Jose State University (SJSU) from 1966–1968 where he was a three-year starter, team captain, and an Academic All-American. Saunders also joined Theta Chi Fraternity while at SJSU.

In the 1970s, Al Saunders joined the coaching staff at USC and San Diego State University (SDSU), whose SDSU Aztecs were then under the control of Head Coach Don Coryell. Saunders would go with Coryell to NFL when Coryell became the head coach of the San Diego Chargers.

From 1983–1986, Saunders was the wide receivers coach for the Chargers. He was tapped as the Charger’s interim head coach when Coryell resigned during the middle of the 1986 season. Saunders would eventually replace Coryell as the head coach from 1986-1988.

From 1989–1998, Saunders was with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he served as the assistant head coach and wide receivers coach under Marty Schottenheimer.

Saunders would then join the St. Louis Rams coaching staff. From 1999-2000 he served as the wide receivers Coach under Dick Vermeil and later as assistant head coach under Mike Martz. During this period, the Rams won Super Bowl XXXIV in 2000.

Saunders would rejoin the Kansas City Chiefs in 2001 as the offensive coordinator when Vermeil came out of retirement. In his second stint with the Chiefs, Saunders built the NFL’s top offense, which was ranked #1 in the NFL from 2002–2005.

On January 19, 2006, he joined the coaching staff of the Washington Redskins as the Associate Head Coach – Offense, reuniting him with fellow Don “Air” Coryell alumnus, Joe Gibbs. At the time, his 3-year, $6 million contract made him the second highest paid assistant coach in the NFL behind Gregg Williams. Players such as recent additions Antwaan Randle El and Brandon Lloyd have claimed that the signing of Saunders to the Washington coaching staff was a major pull factor in their decision to sign with the Redskins. In this role, he served the team like he did in Kansas City, as the primary play caller and offensive coordinator.

Saunders offensive playbook reportedly has approximately 700 pages of various plays. When the Redskins struggled offensively in the 2006 pre-season and during the first two regular season games, the lengthy playbook became the subject of criticism -both humorous and serious- by Washington sports media. However, desiring not to provide scouting information to opponents, the Redskins only used a small number of plays (estimated by Saunders at around 2% of his playbook) during the pre-season. Beginning with the third game of the regular season, Washington’s offensive production increased but later fell.

Many believe that the pairing of Al Saunders offense and the veteran quarterback Mark Brunell was a bad fit. The Al Saunders offense, an Air Coryell offense, requires a quarterback with a very accurate sense of timing and trust with the receiver which could not be replicated in Washington during Brunell’s 2006 season.

In 2007, Jason Campbell dislocated his left knee in a week 14 game versus the Chicago Bears. Veteran back-up Todd Collins, who took over the reigns and was very effective as he led the Redskins to four straight victories and into the playoffs. Collins’ success can be attributed to the fact that he had been studying under Saunders’ offensive scheme since 2001.

After Joe Gibbs retired as head coach of the Redskins on January 8, 2008 and Jim Zorn was hired as the new offensive coordinator by Redskins’ owner Dan Snyder on January 25, Saunders was fired by Snyder on January 26.

On January 30, 2008, Saunders was hired as offensive coordinator for the St. Louis Rams. After Steve Spagnuolo was hired as head coach in January 2009, Saunders was informed he would not be retained for the upcoming season.

In 2009 Saunders was hired as an offensive consultant with the Baltimore Ravens.

    You remember incorrectly Miss.

I think that Gradowski AND Campbell are BOTHG average quarterbacks.

Campbell was playing like crap and I wanted Bruce to play instead.

It would be interesting to find out what Al has planned for the future of the Raiders-if not his son, who?

  324. Just Fire Baby Says:

Yes of course we will have an “aggressive” defense.

We will play aggressive man defense on the corners, and our 4 man rush will be aggressive getting into the backfield.

That is the Oakland Raiders tradition of “aggressiveness”.
