Five coaches removed from roster

The following assistant coaches were removed from the Raiders’ coaching roster on the club Web site after being there earlier this morning:

Linebackers coach Mike Haluchak, quarterbacks coach Ted Tollner, quartebacks coach Paul Hackett, offensive line coach Jim Michalczik and assistant line coach Chris Morgan.

Al Saunders was added to the roster as offensive coordinator Monday.

Two names who have surfaced with regard to Oakland’s search for a defensive coordinator _ former Raiders defensive coordinator Chuck Bresnahan and Jacksonville defensive line coach Joe Cullen.

Bresnahan, most recently the defensive coordinator of the Florida Tuskers of the UFL, was was the Raiders defensive coordinator in the division title seasons from 2000 through 2002. He worked as Cincinnati defensive coordinator when Hue Jackson coached Bengals wide receivers. A source said Jackson has spoken with Bresnahan, although it’s not known how serious the level of interest is on either side.

According to the Twitter account of Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network, “Joe Cullen to interview for Raiders DC job in the coming weeks.” Cullen has been a defensive line coach both in college and the NFL.

Note: Appears to be a rogue LaCanfora tweeter on the horizon. It crossed my Tweet deck this afternoon. My fault for picking it up somewhere other than his direct Twitter site.

Coaches who served under Tom Cable who are still listed include Greg Biekert (assistant coach on defense), Willie Brown (squad development), John Fassel (special teams coordinator), Adam Henry (tight ends), Sanjay Lal (wide receivers), Brad Roll (strength and conditioning), Kevin Ross (assistant coach), Kelly Skipper (running backs), Lionel Washington and Mike Waufle (defensive line).

Interesting….a 3-4 DE, a running back to replace Bush, two DB’s and an inside LB for the 3-4.

The Jazz started off in New Orleans, didn’t they? Being in Utah they should change their names to the Utah Recovering Porn Addicts.

I think we will have to look hard at some RB’s in the 4th-7th round range as a plan B in case Bush jets out of town.

We need to see if we can get back into the first round, so we can pick up a solid o-line or d-line player.

    We are doomed.

  • hwnrdr

    Good Morning Nation!!!
Casey Matthews would be a good pickup! In a losing effort, that guy was a beast in the BCS Championship! Plus all year…

  • http://www.myspace.com/copenhagenguns Copenhagen_Fan

And Al’s atavistic approach will send us plunging even further into the rectal-abyss of the NFL.

  • http://www.myspace.com/copenhagenguns Copenhagen_Fan

If Chuck B. is the new DC we are VERY DOOMED…would rather have the dude who went through the drive through at TACO BELL wasted and naked ha ha.

  • Just Fire Baby

What trading chips do we have to move up??

What players under contract do we have that we want to get rid of, and would be desirable to teams?

To move up 20 spots from mid 2nd to late 1st, will cost us at least a 3rd round pick, and we already don’t have a 4th next year.

Not worth it, IMO, to give away a player (potential draftee) just to move up into the late first.

Plenty of solid O-line and D-line players to be had in the 3rd and 4th rounds anyways.

    Senior Bowl: Raiders interested in:

    RB Roy Helu
    CB Kendric Burney
    DL Allen Bailey
    SS Joe Lefeged
    ILB Casey Matthews

Bailey is a late 1st/2nd rounder, the others are 4-5 rounders.

  • http://www.myspace.com/copenhagenguns Copenhagen_Fan

We pick best in the 4th to 7th rounds. Maybe we should TRADE DOWN!

  • El Tato

    thats true

  • http://www.myspace.com/copenhagenguns Copenhagen_Fan

Trade that 2nd for a 3 lower picks.

  • Just Fire Baby

Casey Matthews is awfully small for an ILB.

I think teams will pass on him for a few rounds, because not many teams are looking for a 230 pound ILB.

He is worth the “risk” in the mid rounds, but I would be suprised if he was drafted in the first 3 rounds.

“He’s my son,” said Hue Jackson to Bengals.com when asked about his former pupil. “I like him as a young man and really admire what he’s done in Cincinnati and I want to stay in touch with him because I have great respect for him.”

CJ probably has the highest trade value of the bunch. If Scott wasn’t coming off a knee injury he might have some value. I am positive Carlisle will be used like Kirk was last year, as a trading chip to move up maybe 15 spots in the 4th round.

None of those guys are going to move the meter.

    Good Morning AM crew!

how long before the Raiders deny interest in DC candidates Chuck Bresnahan, Joe Cullen, Dennis Thurman, Keith Butler, Winston Moss & Mike Trgovac … and then name one of them Defensive Coordinator a week later ???

  • RaiderRockstar

“He’s my son,” said Hue Jackson to Bengals.com when asked about his former pupil.

    Hue Jackson @ChadOchoCinco “Who’s your daddy !?!?!?!”

  • Just Fire Baby

Whoever our next DC will be, I’m sure Schefter will let us know as soon as it come privy to him.

  • RaiderRockstar

Chuck Cecil & Kurt Schottenheimer could also be longshot DC candidates …

  • RaiderRockstar

the National Football Post is reporting that we have actually interviewed Chuck Bresnahan for the DC job!

    Jerry Mac says

“A source said Jackson has spoken with Bresnahan, although it’s not known how serious the level of interest is on either side.”

    Hmmmm

  • hwnrdr

Yeah but I don’t think Kurt will come here due to the ovious…although that would be funny wouldn’t it?

  • Just Fire Baby

Chuck Bresnahan, Chuck Cecil, the naked guy, Rob Ryan…..

Not that list of candidates I was looking for. I would just as soon promote Waufel.

  • RaiderRockstar

MOBILE, Ala. — Miami Dolphins assistant head coach and secondary coach Todd Bowles wowed Arizona Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt during an interview for the defensive coordinator vacancy, according to league sources with knowledge of the situation.

Bowles’ interview was impressive, according to sources, and he’s considered an extremely strong candidate to land the job.

Bowles interviewed with the Dallas Cowboy for their defensive coordinator job previously this offseason.

    -Aaron Wilson

  • RaiderRockstar

Defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau is expected to remain in Pittsburgh, but linebackers coach Keith Butler has consistently been linked to the Cardinals as a possibility.

However, Butler is under contract. And his current deal includes a provision that he’ll be able to take over for LeBeau whenever he retires.

I’m ready for Ocho. A change of scenary for him is needed, and there is no doubt in my mind he would improve our team for a few years.

Things might end with Chad crashing and burning, but I would give Cincy next years 3rd rounder for him if we had to.

  • raidertbone

I think it’s more likely that the Raiders try to pick up T.O. for one year (although I hate his freakin’ guts!)

  • SilverNBlackPA

The little I know about the Senior Bowl players the Raiders are looking at…

Allen Bailey: Projects as 3-4 end best. Weighed in at 278, so he would be a LDE in a 4-3. Would probably need to trade up to get him. If Seymour bails and they move Houston to 3-technique, Bailey could be a good replacement at end. Tough guy, good motor, stout against the run.

Roy Helu Jr: Don’t know much, except that he’s 6 foot, 220 and is a physical runner. Possible MBush replacement.

Casey Matthews: Plays inside at Oregon, probably too light to play to the position in the NFL. Have to think the Raiders are looking at him for the weakside. Had 6 passes defensed and 3 interceptions, so he seems like he could handle the coverage duties.

    ++++++++++++++++

I’m with you. I hadn’t liked the idea before, but eff it…bring in Ocho. Give Campbell at least one other legit target besides Jacoby. I have to think HueJax could handle him if anyone could.

I wouldn’t give up more than a 4th rounder, though. Hell, Santonio Holmes is twice the receiver at this point and he only brought a 5th.
