i saw that both holmes and edwards are FAs. I think either of those guys would b nice additions to our corps and may come a little cheaper than guys like vjax, ocho or rice.

I could really see VY in Silver and Black next year

VY to OchoCinco. That could be fun

    ***

    Tay,

Vince Young is entering the last year of his contract.

He is on pace to make $8.5 million in salary plus a $4.25 million roster bonus (due March 10th)

Chad OchoCinco is under contract for $6 million in 2011, and the money is not believed to be guaranteed.

    Orlando Franklin ???

  • RaiderRockstar

    whats up Dirty?

  • LA to TheBay

Vince Young could be another Raider Reclamation project, but…. I say no.

Too many character guys as of late. We got rid of all the guys that didn’t want to be here.

  • http://www.hotmail.com The Dirtee Raccoon

The offensive line is the weakest link on the Raiders’ roster, QB, and WR arw close, and has been for what seems like forever. Filling the O-line with younger, better talent will be important for the continued growth and future success of the Raiders.

  • chiefssuck

VY will b cut if not traded before roster bonus is due.

    Mornin RR.

  • http://www.hotmail.com The Dirtee Raccoon

Carlisle has been, and continues to be, the worst starting offensive lineman in the league. His performances lack effort, production and heart.

  • http://www.hotmail.com The Dirtee Raccoon

Mario Henderson had his chance to prove himself, failed miserably and was replaced by a rookie from a Div-II school

  • LA to TheBay

Besides, I think all the QB talk is just that. Al likes Campbell. End of Story.

  • http://www.hotmail.com The Dirtee Raccoon

Walker was never a great starter or an integral part of the Raiders’ success. He worked well as a stop-gap player in 2010, but was never going to be the “answer” at right tackle.

  • RaiderRockstar

what team in the NFL would pay $12.75 million for a 1-year rental of Vince Young ???

    He will be released …

  • http://www.hotmail.com The Dirtee Raccoon

Samson Satele is a player that leaves me scratching my head. One play I think, “Wow! What a great play.” The next, “Is he even trying?”

I guess inconsistent is the right word.

Satele has improved over the last two seasons, but not enough to justify letting him continue as the starter. At the moment however, he’s the only center on the team.

Therefore, Satele should only be let go if there is a suitable replacement ready to step up.

  • http://www.hotmail.com The Dirtee Raccoon

Gallery has the potential to be one of the best offensive linemen in the game, but injuries and inconsistency constantly get in the way. If he can’t be on the field every down and make every play, he does the team no good.

Seems that we have a lot of holes to fill with all of our free agents and underachievers. I’m surprised Al let so many key components reach the end of their contracts without extensions. Waiting for the CBA before making moves, perhaps?

    There you go JFB.

  • r8rwill

a great day to be a raiders fan,
j hill that’s a monster line, i like veldheer at center too, not too sure about walker, but i do think gallery is overpaid . can we get gaither from the d birds.. is that a hujax connection? with a line like that and bush and dmac,,,a total monster

  • DMAC

Fassel, isn’t that bad, but Sanjay??????
    C’mon man!!!

  • RaiderRockstar

    OAKlifer & Raccoon,

Satele was traded from Miami, despite being a 2nd rounder going into his 3rd season having started all 32 games his first 2 seasons in the NFL.

Parcells & Sparano didn’t think he was strong enough. Cable liked his athleticism for the ZBS. with Hue Jackson running the offense we tried to start Jared Veldheer in his place twice, but Veldy couldn’t get the hang of it and Henderson was sucking balls at LT

Samson wont be back … despite being one of the few bright spots on Cable & Michalczik’s scrub filled O-Line

Maybe thats why he was mad over not makin the playoffs. He know with a new cba the small market team can’t compete??? Nah

Carlisle will be starting somewhere next year, you can bank on that.

Remember in 2007, the Ravens signed the guy, announced the signing on their website as their new starting RG, and than Al swooped in the midnight hours and out-bid Ozzie Newsome for him.

Since than he has started all but one game, for a top-tier rushing offense, and is one of the least penalized lineman in the league.

I wouldn’t be suprised if almsot got the same amount of money as Gallery does if he were a FA.

  • Just Fire Baby

    Great news about Fassel!!

    Last year we:

-Had 4 ST TD’s and only gave up 1 (plus a safety)
-Forced 5 ST turnovers, and only coughed up 2
-Seabass led the league in scoring;Shane ProBowler
-Had a higher kick return average than our opponents (we did lose the PR battle)

I hope Al gave him a 15 year contract extension

  • r8rwill

j did you notice how well veldheer gets down field, he is a devastating blocker in the open field, he only has trouble with speed rushers.. and when he locks on it’s a done deal. mmove him to center you kill his two faults, the speed rush and false start penalties..he is big enough to handle the nose tackles we face one on one.

    JFB (re: post 29)

remember that was only a 2-year contract we gave Carlisle in 2007.

We let him test the waters in free agency prior to the ’09 season. He had 1 visit with the Bucs and they passed on him. Nobody else even gave the guy one sniff … then Al Davis threw a 5 year contract for starter money at the guy!

    LOL

He’s scheduled to earn $2.5 million in 2011 and $3 million in 2012

  • HairyBush

I thought it was impressive the way free agent to be Caleb Hanie played in the NFC chamionship, considering he barely played all year. He was thrust into a championship game in the second half down 14 points, And responded pretty well.

If it wasn’t for a BJ Raji pick six, A lot more teams who need a QB would be talking about this guy, He has potential. I say sign Hanie and don’t resign Grads. Maybe someone worth “grooming”. I know that grooming QB’s isn’t exactly the raiders strong point, but what the hell.

  • chiefssuck

Nah dirtee…prolly just waiting for the “secret” GM to come back from vacation. lol

  • r8rwill

i think veldheer was alright at center this year but henderson was terrible so cable moved veldheer out to lt. and put satele back in, who had been hurt in camp. in my opinion veldheer is our best lineman hands down.

Veteran quarterback Todd Collins didn’t play well in spot duty for injured starter Jay Cutler during Sunday’s NFC Championship Game. But his 0-for-4 passing performance wasn’t the reason Collins came out of the game for the Chicago Bears.

A source said Monday that Collins suffered a shoulder injury on his final snap of the afternoon, taking a hit from Packers nose tackle B.J. Raji on a third-and-2 pass with 3:10 left in the third quarter.

Collins is scheduled for an MRI on Tuesday to determine the severity of the injury, and there’s a chance he’ll need surgery. That could mean the end of Collins’ 16-year career, which started with the Buffalo Bills and also took him to the Kansas City Chiefs and Washington Redskins.

Collins has thrown for 4,547 yards and 22 touchdowns with 24 interceptions in his career. He has started in just four games since 1997, when he was the Bills’ No. 1 quarterback.

Collins, 39, signed a one-year deal with the Bears in August, but he played in just two regular-season games, completing 10 of 27 passes for 68 yards and no touchdowns with five interceptions. If Collins decides to keep playing, the Oakland Raiders could be an option since they just hired former Redskins offensive coordinator Al Saunders.

nobody is happier than Jason Campbell!

  • J Hill

    Will,

Veldheer is the only C on the roster at this point.

Hell Some scrub came in for Pouncey this past weekend and the Steelers didn’t miss a beat.

Veldheer can certainly play C, in the coaches mind at least.

Bill Williamson rated Cooper Carlisle the 13th best O-lineman in the AFC West in 2010 (9th best in 2009).

Right behind Casey Weigman and Brian Waters.

The guy is a starting NFL guard, no two ways around it.

This is the way Williamson described his list:

Our AFC West position-by-position rankings are continuing with the offensive line. We are going 14 players deep this year. If he is on the list, then he’s pretty good.

    Also states in 2009:

The Raiders re-signed guard Cooper Carlisle and tight end Tony Stewart. Re-signing Carlisle was big for Oakland. Many thought Carlisle was the team’s best lineman last season and he was being courted by other teams.

What makes you think he’ll be available. I see him as the Bear’s new #2 QB.

As far as Grads goes, he won’t be back. AD as much said so in his PC when he said he’s just too fragile and not dependable. I don’t think you’ll see Boller back either. My guess is that we’ll see Alex Smith picked up cheaply in FA. We may also see Frye back – cheaply too as the #3 QB. JCampbell is going to be the #1 QB s long as he’s not hurt. That’s just what I got out of AD’s PC.

  • M Lonetree

    HairyBush,

Caleb Haney had his Brucekowski v Pitts 4th quarter.
I wouldn’t read too much into Haney’s greatness. two TDs and two picks.
plus, when Caleb came in, it was obvious that Green Bay’s D took its foot off the gas and went into more of a prevent mode both before Chicago’s first TD and after Raji’s interception return.

I think Alex Smith would pressure Campbell for the starting gig over time.

Not saying he would get it, but if Bruce Gradkowski brought some heat to Campbell’s starting gig, than I’m sure Alex Smith would do the same.

It’s too hard to find a LT. His weakness should be coachable/correctable. If he doesnt show that good year 2 progress, then yeah try him else where. He is the best LT we have had since Berry Sims, and Sims was not great, this kid can be.

  • Just Fire Baby

This league is all about D-lineman and QB’s right now.

Look no further than this upcoming draft. First two guys will be D-liners (Fairley/Bowers) and 3 of the first 5 will probably be D-liners (the ‘Bama guy as the 3rd).

Kiper said that as many as 10 D-lineman could be taken in the first round this year.

It don’t matter if you have Anthony Munoz at LT, these elite D-lineman are getting knocks on the QB during the game. Did anyone see Michael Oher in his playoff game? That guy may be in the HOF one day and he was abysmal in the second half. I though I was watching Mario Henderson.

You are probably correct but I think JCampbell will florish in our offense and if he has a decent O-Line and some WR’s who can catch. he will develop into a very good QB. I would like to see a little more fire & leadership energy both on & off the field. He needs to improve his confidence level but that will come with future successes. What’s important right now is creating a stable consistent environment around him and we are going in that direction.

I’m with some others i here who think Ocho Cinco will be a Raider next year. I also think theyy should start developing DHB as a CB. He’s got size, speed, knowledge of WR routes and should be able to convert into someone who could get in the way of some passes in his direction. I don’t expect a lot of INT’s but Nnamdi isn’t all that great in that category either.

Assuming an improved O-line, Ocho Cinco & Schilens as wide outs, Ford in the slot, Bush & DMac in the backfield, ZMiller at TE, Jcampbell couldn’t ask for more. That’s a very scary offense.

Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez caught wiping snot on teammate Mark Brunell during AFC championship

Someone get that man a tissue.

In Sunday night’s AFC Championship game, CBS cameras turned on Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez Sunday night just in time to see him pick his nose – and wipe it on backup quarterback Mark Brunell.

With a snot ball stuck on his Jets’ jacket, Brunell looked down and made a face at Sanchez, before the cameras cut away.

Arizona placekicker Jay Feely was one of many NFL players cracking up at the clip.

“Did you just catch Sanchez adding some green to Brunell’s jacket? Mark Sanchez just picked his nose and wiped it on Mark Brunell! Ha!!” the veteran tweeted during the game.

The caught-on-camera faux pas was one of the few things that Jets fans could laugh about after a game where Sanchez had two fumbles, including a mishandled snap. Despite a second-half rally, the Jets lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 24-19.

CNBC commentator Darren Rovell joked on Twitter, “How bad were the 1st 20 minutes for the Jets? The greatest pick of the game came out of Mark Sanchez’s nose.”

The 24-year-old Sanchez has been known to joke around on the sidelines thoughout his career. This summer, on HBO’s “Hard Knocks,” he was shown putting a stink bomb in the defensive coaches’ meeting room
