Raiders hoping for return to evil ways

We’ll know the Raiders have truly returned when defense secretary Robert Gates calls the Raiders “evil.”

By now the end-of-interview comment from former defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld has made the rounds. Talking with the Financial Times, Rumsfeld, said he was pulling for the Steelers in the Super Bowl and said of the epic Pittsburgh-Oakland battles of the 1970, “Nobody could support the Raiders. They were evil.”

Nice isn’t it? Any outrage in Raider Nation is misplaced.

“Evil” sure beats “disfunctional,” “inept” or “incompetent.” It harkens back to a time when the Raiders were feared instead of mocked.

The Raiders got some of that back last year in going 8-8 and looking dominant in some instances while doing it.

The next step?

Get rid of all the pre-snap penalties and don’t worry about the fouls of aggression. If Richard Seymour deems it appropriate to deck Ben Roethlisberger, make sure it happens in a win instead of a one-sided loss.

Where the Raiders are concerned, evil is good.

WIMBLEY’S SERVICES REPORTEDLY SECURED

According to Adam Caplan of FoxSports.com, the agent for Kamerion Wimbley said he expects notice by registered letter that the Raiders have exercised a $3.5 million buyback to keep him in Oakland and NFL Network’s Mike Lombardi is reporting the Raiders have already secured Wimbley’s services for 2011.

Makes sense. No way the Raiders were letting their nickel rusher and strong sideline linebacker get away.

The Raiders have made announcements or updates to their transactions page on Raiders.com since Jan. 5, including Wednesday’s deal with Seymour.

Harder…… Been looking at Dontay Moch for awhile but it seems like he’s a Off and On player. I’ve watch alot of games with him because im a giant Colin Kaepernick Fan.. If we could Dontay in the late rounds I wouldnt be Mad but he has alot of growing up to do

    But she’s the real bauce.
    lol
At least in Iowa she is.

I dont like the Lakers. I have no issues with you either, just tend to disagree with much of your feelings about the current state of the Raiders.

  • DMAC

Didn’t the Cavs just beat the Lakers?

  • HayesDaze37

Them boys with long hair know it’s the same as getting grabbed by the jersey…that in itself isn’t dirty. Popping Big Ben in the chops when Roethlisberger was screaming in Seymour’s ear-hole wasn’t dirty either…it was a spontaneous reaction that was FAR less risky to ones career than what Hines Ward ever does, or what that fat #68 does for the Steelers, too.

I’d like to know what exactly makes Seymour a dirty player? Has he been a dirty player his entire career, or did the one punch do it?

  • General Bauce

Shhhhht, champ can come play FS in Oakland and have a chance to compete in playoffs….Dungver is fked off

  • General Bauce

    DMAC she beat Kell

  • Harder2000

Thank you General Bauce.. Always good to get the opinions of true Raiderfans, and the intensity that characterizes Raidernation is hard to spot elsewhere.. Looking forward to the next couple of weeks, seems we’re going in the right direction.. A good FA, a good draft and some long sought consistency hopefully can help us back on top..

  • bcz24

Wondering why no one has put a piece together linking Dontay Moch to Silver and Black – 247 lbs. and a 40 yard dash in the sub 4.2
    ************
I dont know anything about this guy, but sub 4.2 40 is pretty unbelievable. What is there 5 guys EVER to record a sub 4.2 in the NFL?

    BAUCE!

does Hue get the credit for dumping JaMarcus and trading peanuts for Jason Campbell?

does he get credit for DMAC staying healthy?

does he get credit for dumping Lawton for Reece? (who replaced him on the active 53 man roster after suspension for the final 2 games of the 2009 season)

does he get credit for drafting Ford and Miller being concussion free?

does he get credit for Cable’s O-Lineman who are excellent run blockers, but terrible in pass protection?

Hue got the job because #1 Cable finished 3rd in the division (again) #2 he wanted to work for Al Davis

    he didn’t EARN anything imo

  • Harder2000

@PurpleDrank81. Great to hear from someone who have seen him play, cause I only have some highlights and the measurements to call it for.. But get him in the latter rounds could be great! Just hope he doesnt run a sub 4.2 in the combine, else he be gone by the second/third..

What about Wiz jr., seen much of him? Heard he was predominantly a Zone player, and that he had the same struggles with big bodied DT/NT as Satele?

  • Harder2000

    Point taken GB!

Eagles president Joe Banner wouldn’t rule out going after free agent Nnamdi Asomugha for salary cap reasons.
It was suspected by some that LCB Asante Samuel’s big contract would preclude the Eagles from throwing more money at Asomugha. Banner’s comments at least leave the door open for the Eagles to join the Asomugha derby when free agency commences.

Yes yes yes philly get Aso away from Oakland! Oh my have the skies opened for us! Get two vet cbs let ware and mcfadden be nickel and dime guys

  • bcz24

Ok you hate Hue. If he takes us to the playoffs next year you are not allowed to celebrate it. If he improves our team in any way, you are not allowed to celebrate it. You essentially are now required to be a donkey fan… no chiefs fan, since you live in chiefs land.

  • General Bauce

Amazing Dubs only down four games…..i would rather get on a big streak get to 7th after melo is traded and play Lakers in first round

  • bcz24

It would be hilarious to me if Nnamdi walks and we do in fact go on to win a championship and his new team blows… it will forever be written that Nnamdi brought us the black cloud that has hung over us.

  • General Bauce

Hate Hue? That dude is cool as hell! I can dig it as manager of team but real coach is al Davis!

  • PurpleDrank81

Who doesnt want blow and hookers???????

HArder— Wiz isnt that strong and is a ZBS product not sure if I really want him…He has trouble with big DT’s

  • RaiderRockstar

is Joe Banner even allowed to comment on #21 ???

Nnamdi should still be under contract until free agency starts, which wont be known until this whole CBA thing is resolved, right?

the current CBA expires on 03/04. if nothing is done by then, there wont be football in 2011, correct?

  • General Bauce

Bcz that was a Bauce type of post!

Please don’t go too far out of the way to pay Zach. He’s a good player, but hardly a game changer last season. Lots of dropped balls.

A friend of mine met Hue Jackson at the High St 24hr Gym, the other day.

Said he wasn’t very fan friendly, fyi.

  • HayesDaze37

What HueJax did with the O was worth consideration for the job…and there aren’t too many people out there I would rather risk a HC change for at this point.

It’s a new NFL, one where +/-350 yds per game is the norm for top-10 Offenses…and coaches like HueJax know how to get to that level, as he’s already proven. Once Cable was let go, it was imperative we had a creative mind running the ENTIRE Offense…and the guy who got it done last year was standing right here.

No guy coming out of “retirement” was likely to give this Offense a better chance to be great than HueJax has…not in a hurry, anyway. This O needed continuity at the top, and it got it.

  • General Bauce

But still trickin isnt dope for me….rather use my mouthpiece to get in them guts

    hate Hue? LOL!

    doesn’t deserve a promotion = hate?

giving Al Davis credit = hate on the OC?

I don’t “hate” Hue or even dislike him as a person, coordinator or position coach. I just don’t think he’s qualified to be the Head Coach of my football team, got it?

He is certainly treading a fine line with his comments, the league takes tampering very seriously.

The CBA expires 3/3/11, but that doesnt necessarily mean there wont be football in 2011. Free agency will be a big question mark though. The common thinking amongst most in the know is worst case scenario would be a shortened season. The players will fold once they start missing game checks.

  • Harder2000

PurpleDrank81, yeah, thought so.. Not a lot of big and strong power centers this year, but a couple of strong guards if we should need it.. Gonna be good to see where we stand after FA! Hopefully we can improve the talent level and not have to many key FA’s leave.. If we should shift to 3-4, which i doubt, we would definately see some trades with some of our guys that doesn’t fit in.. But no matter what, a trade to get us back in the 1st might be on Als to-do list..

Jets likely to let CB Cromartie walk Citing sources, NFL Network’s Mike Lombardi reports that the Jets plan to let free agent CB Antonio Cromartie walk this offseason.
According to Lombardi, the Jets are more focused on re-signing Santonio Holmes and Braylon Edwards. GM Mike Tannenbaum made it clear he wasn’t thrilled with Cromartie’s postseason remarks about Tom Brady, the NFL, and the NFLPA, and the Jets may be interested in free agent Nnamdi Asomugha. Ironically, Cromartie could appeal to the Raiders with a ridiculous size/speed combination. He also excels in press-man schemes like Oakland’s.

Unfortunately there will be NO free agency period before the draft. It is really going to hamstring everyone in the draft. There also will be no draft day trades either, except for pick for pick trades.
