Raiders hoping for return to evil ways

We’ll know the Raiders have truly returned when defense secretary Robert Gates calls the Raiders “evil.”

By now the end-of-interview comment from former defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld has made the rounds. Talking with the Financial Times, Rumsfeld, said he was pulling for the Steelers in the Super Bowl and said of the epic Pittsburgh-Oakland battles of the 1970, “Nobody could support the Raiders. They were evil.”

Nice isn’t it? Any outrage in Raider Nation is misplaced.

“Evil” sure beats “disfunctional,” “inept” or “incompetent.” It harkens back to a time when the Raiders were feared instead of mocked.

The Raiders got some of that back last year in going 8-8 and looking dominant in some instances while doing it.

The next step?

Get rid of all the pre-snap penalties and don’t worry about the fouls of aggression. If Richard Seymour deems it appropriate to deck Ben Roethlisberger, make sure it happens in a win instead of a one-sided loss.

Where the Raiders are concerned, evil is good.

WIMBLEY’S SERVICES REPORTEDLY SECURED

According to Adam Caplan of FoxSports.com, the agent for Kamerion Wimbley said he expects notice by registered letter that the Raiders have exercised a $3.5 million buyback to keep him in Oakland and NFL Network’s Mike Lombardi is reporting the Raiders have already secured Wimbley’s services for 2011.

Makes sense. No way the Raiders were letting their nickel rusher and strong sideline linebacker get away.

The Raiders have made announcements or updates to their transactions page on Raiders.com since Jan. 5, including Wednesday’s deal with Seymour.

    Hopefully, Cromartie doesn’t match-up well with AL’s squareness…

NO to Cromartie and all his hassles.

Shhhhht, champ can come play FS in Oakland and have a chance to compete in playoffs….Dungver is fked off
    ———————————–
I’m on board, keep Bailey at CB one more year with Nnamdi, Then swith him to safety. (R.Woodson grooming him in the mean time to make a smooth transition to a new position)

  • bcz24

To my understanding Wiz 2 is being looked upon by NFL scouts as a guard prospect. Cable might be able to get Carroll to draft him as a center though.

  • PurpleDrank81

    Brad Roll pisses me off

  • Harder2000

GB, Yah, Kirkpatrick could be good, but isn’t he too small to start out the gate in a power scheme? Perhaps i remember wrong, he seemed tough and strong, might be a good match in the 3′rd or 4′rd..

  • r8rwill

ouch that was a personal foul, unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct.. come on mang we can do better than that

Bcz24, just hope they get the damn agreements done soon, everybody suffers from this uncertainty..

  • General Bauce

Kirkpatrick same size as Barret robbins….power scheme center

  • bcz24

I just cant see the Jests dropping north of 22 million a year on CBs. The could keep Cro for less than half of what Nnamdi is going to command and believe me the drop off between the 2 isnt anywhere near $5+ million. I personally see Houston breaking the bank to get Nnamdi… if anyone does.

  • PurpleDrank81

We need John Moffit a big nasty Lineman who can play center and guard and has no problem with power blocking….. Im tryna get drunk with Hue but if Brad Roll is there we might get into it and he might pull a hammy

  • Harder2000

Depending on how high we could get a pick, Al might be interested in some of the top guys.. Especially CB Peterson if Awsomeone leaves, but we’ll never get that high anyway.. Wonder what we could get for Kelly after a pretty solid season..

  • PurpleDrank81

Does he if Al Speed? I dont think he does. Do we really have anything to trade that could put us in the top 10????… I really dont think so

Houston? interesting. I think they could be pay him good $$ But I think that would be more of a lateral movement for Nnamdi as opposed to a step up IMO. Don’t think he would do it.

Routt is much better than he gets credit for. With Woodsons coaching I think he will be a top 5 cb. He had the 3rd lowest completion % against him last year, with more than twice as many passes against him than anyone in the top 5.

  • General Bauce

Yes Harder like ur thinking! Let’s get rid of kelly draft kid from Baylor

  • r8rwill

    sorry guys post#83
it is snowing here, the snow blocks my dish so i didn’t get updated..but come on bauce we are bigger than that dude..that’s a low blow to an enemy, but to another poster???? ouch!!!!

  • Harder2000

Yeah, Moffit could be nice in the 2′nd, might be there for us.. A mauler to pave the way could be of great use! Looking forward to see what Beast Campbell can be this year.. All that upside, really hope he can learn the NFL scheme and become a solid starter!

  • PurpleDrank81

Im sure he is cool but he better come strong this training camp or im gonna meet him at kincaids at Tonya Harding his not training AZZ

If Houstons secondary improved into the middle of the road they would be deadly man. They have a top 5 offense and can score pretty much at will on most teams. The secondary cant stop a runny nose though. Improvement in that area could really be the difference.

  • Harder2000

Heard Moffit also had a great week at senior bowl.. Phil Taylor as well of they decide to go D-Line and he falls..

  • General Bauce

Speaking of Houston….Lamarr Houston….Norco Bob told me Lamarr said he gonna do the moonwalk when he scores a TD

  • PurpleDrank81

Phil Taylor is 1 nasty Mofo….. If we can get him and trade Kelly I wouldnt be mad at all

  • Harder2000

CB, great if we could exchange Kelly for Taylor, but not sure what we could get for him.. Soliai, Cofield and Mebane has been solid this year and could be signed as well in FA..

  • General Bauce

Many republicans as well as dems dont like the Raiders so MR again u talk bullschit

My point is I think Oakland is as close to making the playoffs as Houston. I’m hoping Nnamdi plays the loyal soldier and misses out on a few mill and stays put. If anywhere, I could see Nnamdi in Philly. (hope not)

  • Harder2000

Agreed PurpleDrank81, not mad AT ALL! But to be fair, Kelly improved this year.. Still would like to trade him and get a solid DT for the coming years..

  • General Bauce

Harder we need a true NT next to seymour

    Nnamdi please leave

You mean Nnamdi plz leave behind a few mill and stay in oaktown? lol I know you can take or leave #21 but I think with Woodson getting the CB’s to face the ball more we will see more turnovers by the DB’s. just sayin

Routt lol well he is better than cj37 for sure but he does get whooped
    ***********
Every corner in the league gets beat. But check out the cold hard facts on Routt:

99 targets, 39 completions for 635 yard 5 TDs, thats only 39% completion rate against him (Nnamdis
    was also 39%)

Revis- 56 targets 19 completions for 340 yards 4 TDs (34% completion rate, best in the NFL).

21% of the completions against Revis were TDs. Only 13% of Routts were TDs.

Im not saying Routt is Revis… but he deserves much more credit than he gets.

  • General Bauce

Lol you think nnamdi gonna turn down 15 million vs mmaybe the 8-10 mill we give him?

  • Harder2000

Taylor or Soliai would be great next to Sey – both good against the run! Think Death RO will improve this year, be better aginst the run and help minimize the long runs.. But he is still not the fastest, hope they work on his speed if we stay in a 4-3.. Especially had troubles with fast RBs in the passing game.. and reaching the corner before the backs did it..
