He played between Nnamdi and CJ. Routt played the slot when CJ was healthy.
    ******
Wrong. Routt started on the outside 99% of last year. The only games CJ started outside were when Nnamdi was hurt.

  • YoungAmerican

Nnamdi made 16 tackles last year. His go to move is diving at the guys legs.

    ————

Doesn’t matter how you get it done, as long as the guy hits the ground.

Either way, it’s an impressive number considering most teams just sent whatever receiver Nnamdi was covering on a deep route or a slant to the middle of the field because they knew he’d be left on an island anyway.

  • YoungAmerican

LOL. Yeah we got rid of Nnamdis 17 million only to pay Routt 18.3 mill! LOL

When Al said “two or three players”, he really meant “Stanford Routt”.

Cam Newton has very few accolades?? Are you as stupid as you sound?? I’ve never thought JFB was a racist. Does he get a little too caught up in the corny “intangibles”, “leadership”, “it factor”, “role model” bullschitt? Sure. But your Jamarcus rant rates as the most racist POS piece this board has ever seen. Don’t try lumping anyone else in with your bigoted ass!
    **************
I made one obviously satirical post a Jamarcus Russell dude. Dont lump me into the literally hundreds of thousands of posts about Jamarcus. You are an idiot and I guarantee you cant find one real racist comment by me.

NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reports that the Raiders have reached an extension with free agent CB Stanford Routt.
A longtime Al Davis favorite because of his 4.3 wheels, Routt was a priority with the Raiders set to lose Nnamdi Asomugha to free agency. Turning 28 this July, Routt was overpaid at just over $3M last season, so the Raiders wouldn’t be smart to exceed that number on an annual basis. They almost certainly will, though. Routt has two interceptions in his last 47 games (20 starts).

He meant the one player with 2 or 3 ‘T’s’ in his name.

    ********
Our entire secondary needs to work on catching the ball, we are in the bottom 5 for a few years running in INTS. But Routt did have 14 deflections, so he IS getting his hands on the ball (He had as many TDs as DHB last season, that counts for something right)

  • Macho Man Randy Savage

Sorry. you are right, he started 15 of 16 games… what can I say, i dont think he is a good player, cant back it up with stats.

  • Macho Man Randy Savage

By the way, nice stats, where do you get them from?

…if BCZ posts stats on here, I trust that they’re accurate. I’ve double checked many times before

Truthfully I dont remember the link. It is VERY hard to find CB stats, because no one cares about anything beyond INTS. The stats I posted are from Stats Inc who keep all the stats for all the media outlets, but you cant seem to just go to their website and look it up.

Ill be honest with you, I dont believe Routt is a great CB, I definitely think the move to the outside was a blessing for him. I just think he gets unfairly judged playing next to Nnamdi. Look around the league, Assante Samuels is considered one of the top corners in the NFL but he gets burned 3 times as much as routt.

When John Elway came out of college the Baltimore Colts had the first pick in the draft and Elway said there is no way he was going to play for the Baltimore Colts. He also went on to say he wasn’t going to play on the East Coast. He was pretty arogant about it. A trade was made and he ened up in Denver. Eli Manning said he was not going to play for the San Diego Chargers and he was arogant about it. He ended up with the New York Giants. All I want to say is there was no outrage on either of those situations. They were considered smart businessmen.
    ***********************
I guarantee you not one of the people blogging here were members of this blog when either of those guys were drafted. Dont use the perception of people around you to determine our opinions. Ill tell you right now, when Eli had the whole spat with the chargers (even hating the chargers like i do) I though he was a stuck up spoiler rotten little prick who shouldnt be allowed to play NFL football for a stunt like that…
    *************************************************
Now that’s what I am talking about bcz24. I just wanted to make a point. Look, I am not going to get into no racist crap. I hate racism on both sides. I am probably a little bit older than most bloggers on this site. I was born and raised in the segregated South. I know racism inside out. Some people at work try to fake and hide their feelings but they can’t help themselves. I can smell a racist out like a hound. Now lets talk Raider football. “Raider for life.”

Heard Jim Miller and Rich Gannon on Sirius making every excuse in the book for Chad Henne and Carson Palmer. Can you believe Gannon cited a rookie tight end and having to put up with T.O. and Ochocinco as the reasons Palmer struggled? Jim Miller blamed Dan Henning (OC), no threat on the other side of Brandon Marahall and no tight end who can stretch the field for Henne’s struggles. Both preach patience. What a bunch of garbage! Never heard a peep out of either of these guys about Jamarcus’ supporting cast. Wonder how he would have done with just one of the aforementioned receivers??

  • bcz24

I wish I could watch film like JHill. I watch all the games at my brothers house (i cant get DirectV) and he doesnt have a DVR. Im buying a new laptop in a few weeks so hopefully this season I can find them online and watch them.

The Oakland Raiders have agreed to terms on a three-year contract extension with cornerback Stanford Routt, a source with knowledge of the situation said Thursday.

Routt will earn a maximum of $31.5 million over his, including $20 million over the first two years, according to league sources.

The deal places him in the upper echelon of cornerbacks (Champ Bailey’s new contract averages roughly $11 million per season, for instance). Securing Routt at this rate could further lessen Oakland’s ability to give Asomugha the type of top-of-the-market deal he will command.

Routt had 55 tackles and made two interceptions, returning one for a touchdown in 2010.

  • Harder2000

Yeah, Hue as the DC, that’s awsome! He is a defensive genius, we will destroy all offenses next year!

  • YoungAmerican

When Bresnahan is announced as the DC, it’s going to be in the same way that Cable was announced as the coach last season. The Raiders don’t feel it necessary to make public every move they make. They’ll just point to the press release where they announced Bresnahan was “defensive coach” and say “See?”.

Even if they hire Moss or Perry (very outside chance at this point), I’m sure Al figures both of those guys will be at the combine evaluating players regardless.

  • bcz24

Where did you find those #s Macho? I will defend Routts ability as much as I can, but I will be the first to say I will be PISSED if those are the real #s in his deal! That is WAY too much for him!

aiders coach Hue Jackson stated Thursday that he wants to get the ball in Jacoby Ford’s hands more often in 2011.
This needs to happen. Ford is a dynamo on kickoff returns, but he also emerged as the Raiders’ top receiver as well as an occasional backfield threat late last season. Ford posted more combined receiving and rushing yards in the second half of his rookie year than Darrius Heyward-Bey has recorded in two full seasons.

Agreed, way too expensive.. Let’s hope atleast most is incentives..

Still think Moss is a chance for DC, would prefer him over Bresh anyways..

  • YoungAmerican

LaCanfora confirmed the numbers on Twitter.

  • DMAC

    No fk’n way!

  • bcz24

Ughhh Im gonna be sick. I can defend Routt at 3 million a year… not at 10, when that is going to factor into us losing Nnamdi.

  • YoungAmerican

I’m so f***ing pissed about those numbers.

  • DMAC

The deadline to extend free agents the franchise tag is Thursday at 4PM ET.
NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reports the franchise tag “remains an option” for the Raiders and free agent Zach Miller, particularly after the team re-signed Stanford Routt and Richard Seymour. Oakland has some serious priority issues if it doesn’t believe Miller was the most important of the lot.
    Source: NFL.com

  • YoungAmerican

I could even see $5 million a year for Routt, as much as I think his numbers make him look like a better player than he is. But this is flat-out insane.

  • Dakota

    Got to be kidding.

  • DMAC

    I still don’t believe those #’s!!!!!

  • Nnamdi21

    Combine without a DC.

  • Macho Man Randy Savage

I dont like Routt, what can I say? would have loved it if those 10m per year would have gone the way of a gap eating NT.

  • DMAC

Who’s next to get the tag?
    Miller or Huff?
    I would tag Huffy.

  • DMAC

We could of given Joseph that type of $$$$$$$$$

    Joseph > Routt

  • YoungAmerican

I would have wanted that $10 million to go to Jonathan Joseph.

Looks like that second round pick will be a speedy CB.
