Bush, Miller get highest tenders

If the next collective bargaining agreement makes four-year players restricted free agents, the Raiders are on safe ground with running back Michael Bush and tight end Zach Miller.

Bush received a first- and third-round tender, according to source familiar with the situation. Miller also was tendered, and it is also believed to be at a first- and third-round level.

Last year’s first and third figure for a four-year veteran was $3,168,000, which could go up in 2011. Any team wishing to sign either player would have to surrender first- and third-round picks, which essentially put them off limits.

Last year, the Raiders gave Stanford Routt, who like Bush was an occasional starter, a first- and third-round tender which paid him $3,268,000 as a five-year veteran.

If Bush and Miller received tenders, it’s safe to assume others received them as well.

The tenders are insurance at this point until a CBA is reached.

Again, here’s the Raiders’ list of potential free agents:

Four-year veterans

QB Bruce Gradkowski
RB Michael Bush
TE Zach Miller
WR Johnnie Lee Higgins
C Samson Satele
OT Mario Henderson
DE Jarvis Moss

Five-year veterans

FS Michael Huff
LB Thomas Howard
LB Ricky Brown
S Hiram Eugene

Six-year veterans

T Khalif Barnes
T-G Daniel Loper

Veteran UFAs

CB Nnamdi Asomugha
QB Kyle Boller
QB Charlie Frye
QB J.T. O’Sullivan
RB Michael Bennett
G Robert Gallery
T Langston Walker
LB Sam Williams
DT John Henderson (ESPN has reported two-year contract, Raiders have not confirmed)

    Hey Jerry

Was Al Davis the only GM absent from the combine?

  • DutchRaider77

Ship might (might) have hit the fan, think Oil prices are crazy now. Huge protests are being called for in Saudi Arabia next Friday (Called the Day of Rage) against the Royal Family.

  • JB

When Al Davis decides he wants to keep a player(s) he puts his money where his mouth is. Putting the 1st/3rd tenders on these two players is a VERY good thing for us. Just think how pissed we’d be if he cheapskated out when it came to protecting important talent. There are a lot of other owners who wouldn’t stand up & be counted. I’m glad AD isn’t one of those.

  • http://www.pro-football-reference.com/ KoolKell

Jerry who was representing the Raiders Personnel Dept at the combine?

  • bigblackdeath29

i saw hue jackson, greg biekert, mike wauffle, rod woodson in the back ground on nfl network.

  • priesttj

Jerry was representing them, why do you care man you still wont be staisfied because you don’t know them…….period

Great move by Big Al we needed MBush and ZMiller so far so good.

Al was at the combine, via big screen hi-deg 3D tv.

al doesnt need to be there…they come to him

by adding four new potential starters on the O-Line….there are basically saying they are starting all over again.

That means they will take time to gel and learn how to play as a unit.

Not good….this team needs to win NOW….not in 2 years, not in 5 years and sure as hell not in 10 years!

  • DKnight007

Keeping Nnamdi and Huff would be HUGE for this Raider team.

Who the hell is the old man going to get to replace them IF they walk??

There are no guarantees he is going to be able to adequately replace them thru free agency or especially the freakin draft.

    Dammit!

    Teach,

    WHy does it sound ridiculous.

Carlisle is rumored to be out the door. Gallery is already gone…and Satele’s hold on the job is a big unknown…remember they tried to get Veldheer in there to replace him.

So there is at least 3 new starters that are very likely….Walker might make it.

As for the three new LBs….they did a decent job I guess…but someone needs to explain to me why this Raider team is not competitive against the run?

Year after year after year of bad run defense.

Claims of “they just have to play better” is the only intelligent answer anyone can come up with.

    ^^^^^^^
The O-Line is a whole different animal than the 3 starters on the LB Corp.

  • http://www.pro-football-reference.com/ KoolKell

I don’t know about 4 new starter on the line, but I do know the Raiders were the #2 Rushing Team last year. Strange time to rebuild.

Thats why the Raiders will have to have a strong ground game, because an air attack plan will find Campbell sacked to many times. Al is spending for next season, and our leaky o-line won’t afford Campbell time. Easier for new line guys to try and open lanes than to pass protect. Gonna be interesting for defenses to plan around a green line. Knowing the Raiders going to have to run could spell trouble if the line can’t protect. Interesting indeed.

  • priesttj

There will will be one maybe 2 new starters and one was there as a rookie last year. Why all the consternation about the Oline? They played fairly well in the second half of the year. Think thye’ll be better this year even without Gallery who was hurt most of last year.

I think you put Loper or a talented rookie there and you can get good fairly quickly because it’s the G position instead of the LT.

  • anthonyraiders

That is good news, now just pick up huff and we can breath a little. Yea we spent way to much on routt and that probably leaves us no chance at ASO. The raiders will have to learn to win without him. Then again they never won with him.

Exactly. I can understand them wanting to get bigger and more physica on the O-Line and getting rid of Carlisle and Walker, but letting Gallery go AND Satele??

    Jesus…

  • DKnight007

Round 2 pick for the Raiders should G/RT MARCUS CANNON…..hopefully!!

    Sheesh!

  • HayesDaze37

Al is flat-out getting it done.

Frankly, if I were a GM in need of a RB, and had a late 1st-round pick (as in, if only my team had an excellent RB, we’d be great), I’d give up the picks for Mike Bush.

Mike Bush should be totin’ the rock a LOT more than 10-15 times a game…

  • Nnamdi21

  • CMon Man

    Good news! no,,,GREAT NEWS!

Now sign at least Asomugha or Huff…hopefully both, but sign at least 1!

  • Nnamdi21

    14. There were several guys who fell off the Raidar under cable’s tenure including Bush and Loper. Loper played well but found himself in the dog house for what ever reason.

Bush has never played enough imo even with DMC missing time.

  • anthonyraiders

I didn’t think it was a blow out but I will look it up. All mocks I have seen still have him in the second round after the combine. All I know is we can’t stop the run at all.

  • Nnamdi21

Whatever we do with the O line lets hope this guy can make it work.

Appreantly he won’t be making the calls but he’s got some success under him and the other Al seems determined to go air again.

Funny how everybody used to bag on Al a few short years ago for his adherance to the “dated” and “dead” vertical game. Now at least 12 teams passed for over 4,000 yds last yr.

    26. Maybe Loper for Gallery. Maybe. He had good moments, he had some slack moments.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Cooper Carlisle back next year and no, I’m not joking.

B Campbell was a project with what, 18 games of football total under his belt when drafted?

They may go the Mario route with him and sit him long time.

Speaking of, will Mario even be with the team next year?

He better start working on his RIGHT tackle skills

Paea has a damaged lateral miniscus. Not sure on the seriousness but if it was real bad I don’t think mayock would still have him rated 5th best DT. This guy is just a run stuffer not much fear in rushing passer. That’s ok though, we have a great pass rush already. Just imagine stopping the run.

  • RAIDERMAN99

Anyone remember what Grad’s tender was last year ?

Seem to recall a 2nd and a 3rd, or something like that.

Raids must address the backup QB issue.

JaJason will start the season as the ‘unquestioned’ starter, but he won’t finish it that way.

    JaJason sucks.

  • dickv

    KK & DK,

The line is going through transition from zone blocking to power run blocking. That transition started last year with Veldaheer, and langston walker. Carlisle was a zone blocker… he’s gone. Gallery priced him self out, and Satele may stay if they can’t replace him.

Jhill essentially yes we can get pretty good with BC and a young Wiz IMO I would look at Henderson at the RT spot. That way you have Walker in reserve or he stays as a starter. I’d let Henderson and Walker battle it out at RT and take the best guy.

  • priesttj

Barnes and Loper are good backups IMO along with Walker or Henderson and get a young guy who can double at C or G spot. This stuff isn’t nearly as complicated as y’all are making it.

  • YoungAmerican

Henderson could be an adequate backup, but I just don’t see him being able to handle speedy pass rushers off the edge.

When he was drafted, apparently most scouts had him projected as a guard. Maybe if he can be moved inside he won’t be as big of a liability against the pass rush.

Who cares?????? They could put a 7th on that scrub and nobody would bite. Bruise is a goner. Almost all the trash has been taken out!

The line wasn’t as bad as people make it out to be last year it was just unsettled once they settled on the players the line got much better. Some of you in here live life in a panic. Our line isn’t nearly as bad off as some want to believe. Sure it needs depth at C and start BC now we need a new RG but that’s it IMO.

YA henderson played LT for 2 years and it’s much easier to play RT I just don’t see a problem I see opportunity is all.

They gave Grads a 3rd rnd tender and no one bit, NO ONE. I wouldn’t mind if he were on the team and knew his role and shut his mouth in the media. But he wont he’ll run his mouth because he can’ help it. It’s OK to compete but do it on the practice field.

Campbell needs to start hot though and make it known it’s his job. If not I want a guy who gives us something to shout about…………COLIN KAEPERNICK!!!!!

    ===================================================
‘Bruise’, as you call him, was tendered at something like a 2nd and a 3rd by Al Davis and wound up taking the starting QB job from JaJason.

Meanwhile, your hero JaMoron was rightfully kicked to the curb by Davis and has yet to land another roster position in the NFL.

Grads might turn out to be a goner or he might wind up starting again for the Raids. We’ll see about that.

However, we can be certain that JaMoron will never play another down for the Raids.

JaMoron’s one piece of trash that was definitely taken out and not a single NFL team has picked him up out of the garbage bin despite the fact that it would cost them absolutely nothing to do so.

  • RAIDERMAN99

TJ, how many games have you seen Kaepernick play ?

Great news! Raiders remaining FA situation looks far more manageable. Short of a Nnamdi signing, I think this is the best news we could get short of a raise in the salary cap, which I think might very well happen. If it does, we might just get that good news on Nnamdi after all . . .
