You knolw it’s PC to say you favor less skill positions over skilled like DB’s but try going through a season with a bunch of bad DB’s and see how far you get. You cannot have enough DB’s because all they do is run run and run. It’s true you need the big guys up front, no one values pressure up front more than I do but if you can’t cover you’re dead.

^^^^^^^^
That's right. So why lose the best CB in the game in Nnamdi and get nothing in return?

They already have their CB's set with CJ, Routt, McFadden and Ware.

No need to REACH for CB in Round 2. The only one I like in Round 2 would be Jimmy Smith...but he is a head case. He is still a good value kid 2nd round pick for a CB though.

IMO, Big John is on his last legs, he might not even make it through training camp (whenever that starts) he only played in a handful of games last year.

I value O-Line, D-Line and LB’s ahead of CB’s….any day of the week.

The Raiders should have learned there lesson from past mistakes by taking DB’s early like Buchanon, Gibson, Fabian.

————–

I don’t think Henderson is on his last legs (apparently neither do the Raiders, who just gave him $8 million for two seasons),

RR,

Agreed. My point when saying "whoever comes in won't replace Nnamdi" was merely that I don't think even the coaching staff expects the next guy to have the same effect that Nnamdi does on the field.

If the Raiders don't re-sign Nnamdi and draft a kid or sign someone in FA to play across from Routt, it'll be because they believe the new guy is a good player in his own right. Not because they want him to be a carbon copy of Asomugha.

Personally, I'm more concerned about the FS spot than either CB spot right now. Huff is far from perfect, but Eugene isn't half the player Huff is, and Stevie Brown is still a question mark at this point in his career.

Getting another D tackle would go a long way in improving the rotation on the D line and also gives Seymour a chance to move around.

If Nnamdi isn’t re-signed, I doubt it’s because the new coaching regime doesn’t value CBs. Moreover, whoever comes in isn’t going to replace Nnamdi.

***

YA,

if Al Davis didn't value CB's he wouldn't be paying Routt & CJ37 a combined $13 million next season. Mitchell & Branch are your starting safeties and AD, Inc. obviously thinks highly enough of Hiram Eugene to compete for one or both positions

I'm sure McFadden & Ware will be pushing CJ37 as well and there is nothing wrong with competition...

Hue Jax promised to build a bully and to me that means you have a Defense that can stuff the run and rush the passer. Hard to imagine being a bully and giving up 130-150 yards on the ground each week! Hue spent 2 seasons with the Baltimore Ravens and he saw a nasty defense getting it done week in & week out. Hard to imagine him not wanting the same for "his" team.

We can win football games without #21 and #24

we should draft CB B Harris or Ras Dowling in the 2nd, if we dont resign Nnmadi.
*********************
Too bad we wont have any clue if Nnamdi stays or goes before the draft.

==========================

I'm wondering if signing Nnamdi 4 one year while a 2nd round DP adjusts?

I'd like Nnamdi to stay and think he will but wouldn't mind if we picked up Ras or Jimmy Smith if he falls that far. He's got Raider skills and I think the off field stuff is in his past and not that bad.

If Wizzer is there you may look at at taking him. Maybe...
