Murphy arrested in Gainesville

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Sunday, April 3rd, 2011 at 2:15 pm in Oakland Raiders.

Raiders wide receiver Louis Murphy was arrested in Gainesville, Fla. on three misdemeanor charges, according to the Gainesville Sun.

Murphy was charged with failure obey a police officer, resisting arrest without violence and possession of a drug without a valid prescription, which according to the report, was Viagra.

As arrests go, there doesn’t appear to be a lot here to be overly concerned about other than the heat he’s going to take from teammates in the locker room.

Maybe he took it from Als medicine cabinet

Sounds more like a case of cops gone bad than NFL player gone bad. V- i agra? really, officers? Thanks for keeping our streets safe, idiots.

  • DaTruth91

    hmmmm. interesting

  • raiden305

    This is stupid.

  • DIRT-LOT FOOTBALL

QUESTION IS,WHY WAS HE STOPED IN THE FIRST PLACE…

  • EMRaiders

In the article it sounds like he was stopped for playing music too loud. Dumb of him to drive to a parking lot before pulling over though. I still don’t think that was reason enough to arrest him though. Him refusing to show ID and “resisting” arrest, without much resisting are not reasons for arrest either in my opinion. The viagra thing is just laughable. Unless he actually needs it, then it’s just bad luck.

Whats with all these athletes getting stopped for loud music? Usually when you see a cop, you turn down the tunes!

Viagra!!! Ohhh, Murphy is in for it when camp starts! Anyone here on twitter see anything good yet from teammates?

  • Carl Weathers

    this should be #10 @ 4:23 PCT.

  • Gust372

Hey, Just Plagiarize Baby, how about googling the arrest and compiling several op eds on it from around the country and passing it off as your own opinion? You brilliant writer you.

So, how many articles has Just Fire Baby lifted today and tried to pass off in here as his own opinion? I’m guessing at least 10. That’s usually his average before 2pm.

    LMFAO!!!

All your doing is inflating the ego a little, because I have never EVER copied and pasted any of my posts unless it was:

-A quote, which I will put in quotes

-Or a stat, which I often post the links and which are pretty easy to prove false or not.

    Too funny!!!!

Anyways, you got to think that MOST cops would let an Old Gator go in this circumstances.

Either it was a jerk-off cop or Murphy was acting the fool.

  • Pretty Rick

Damn!!! Getting arrested for Viagra? Tax dollars at its best. Murphy you’re a lil’ young to be needing Viagra arent ya?

you know it was both. murphy should never have ignored the cop but all of this is stupid. some young kids hangin out and a cop wants to fugg with them. i wonder if murphy tried to ignore the cop cuz of the kind of drug he had? its funny cuz if it was weed he probably wouldnt be embarrassed. he definitely wouldnt get teased for it. guys are really gonna give it to him over some viagra at only 25 years old. maybe his girl dont work that thang enuff so he needs some help. not all of these heffas are as freaky as they say they are. trust me i know.

Things I Didn’t Used To Know

*Warren Moon isn’t the only person who thinks race may be a factor in the way the NFL world is perceiving Cam Newton. A high ranking NFL executive, who is white, came to the same conclusion before Moon made his comments. “If Newton were white, he’d be the first pick in the draft,” he said.

Interesting tidbit from Dan Pompei on NFP.

Has any QB who has had under 15 career collegiate starts ever went in the top 10?

I’m not sure, but I still think there is a decent chance the Panthers take him #1.

That guy that bashed Cam, Naworki or whatever, also bashed Claussen last year for a lot of the same stuff.

After one year, the wrap on Claussen looks to be about true, and I really think the Panthers will take either Gabbert or Newton number 1.

It seems more than likely that there will be some type of rookie salary cap, and if so, I would be willing to bet that a QB will go number 1 75% of the time moving forward.

  • RaiderDebo

Moon was justified in his statements. The guy lived it. He’s not the only one that finds Nawrocki’s criticism over the top. Clausen got bashed some, but he had other things working against him. Even though we all know it’s a team game, his record at ND was questioned. People questioned his deep throwing ability also, saying he threw the football up for grabs a lot. Bottom line, he’s wasn’t half the prospect Newton is. Haven’t written Clausen off though. Moon couldn’t understand what a “fake smile” has to do with anything, and neither can I. No one says that just because he won a national championship in college, he’ll be a great player in the NFL. But Nawrocki’s assertion that Cam will never command respect in the locker room and that he’s not a leader doesn’t jive with the TEAM success he had as a collegian. Either Nawrocki is lying, or leadership has nothing to do with being a great QB and isn’t a factor in a team’s success. Moon questioned Nawrocki’s motive, which is fair game when you make such scathing, subjective criticisms. I’ve got no problem with it.

I’m sure there was no racial profiling here. (sarcastic font)

The stop seems a little petty and the cop should have told Murphy why he stopped him…I think Murph made the mistake of not wanting to be bullied … The wise thing is to always try and avoid contact with a bully cop because once he’s confronted you he’s going to do his bully thing…it’s a No win situation..bummer for Murphy

A clear case of DWB (Driving while black).

    Florida is notorious for it.
