How about Al spending some money on the right side and going sfter Tyson Clabo from the Falcons? From what I read, the boy is a nasty run blocker and has even been able to round out solid pass protection abilities. Hell, Willie Colon seems like he could be a solution there too, if he can come back from his achilles injury?

Bauce,

What up man! We have to disagree about Nnamdi.

However, if the Raiders were to take the $15 to $17MM saved and upgrade the team I would be able to accept that.

But right now, as another poster pointed out, so far they used the extra money to give Routt a bunch of money, Eugene some money and sign Wimbley.

I hope there is another elite talent that is added to the team in place of Nnamdi...

Guess we have to wait for free agency for that

i can see your point, but i don’t agree that scheme is an excuse for your d-linemen over pursuing and your linebackers getting eaten up on blocks. ray lewis sheds blocks and covers TEs. it’s not scheme it’s the players and morrison, howard etc. are gone because of it. let the CBs and S be mediocre and upgrade the line and LBs and that scheme actually works to stop the run and pass better than a 3-4.

----------

Sure he sheds blocks, but he doesn't have to worry about offensive linemen coming freely at him nearly as often as the Raider linebackers do. Nor does he have to worry about being sent downfield in man coverage (essentially taking him out of the play) on WRs nearly as often as Raider linebackers do.

That's not to say that the Raider linebackers could be as good as Ray - and I agree, it has to do with the players, too, not just the scheme - but the scheme definitely doesn't help.

No other team plays defense like the Raiders do, and no other team gives up big plays as often as the Raiders do. And while I agree that building up the line is important, the way the Raiders play defense automatically places a premium on solid CB and S play.

With the Raiders defense, one lapse in man coverage or one missed tackle mean a big play opportunity for the opposing offense.

So essentially, if the Raiders want to play defense the way they do, and still be more consistent on that side of the ball, they just need to focus on drafting 11 guys who are always in the right place and never miss a tackle.... simple, right?

You're right, though. I'd love for Nnamdi's money to be spent on, for example, Santonio Holmes and Harvey Dahl. But the Raiders still need their DBs to maintain a high level of play. And there's naturally going to be a drop off in level of play if they lose both Asomugha and Huff in the same season and don't bring in additional help at either position. Especially because the starters along the defensive line and at linebacker appear to be set in stone. Sure, there's a chance that an OLB will be brought in, but even if the Raiders draft a young NT-type player, he'd only be a rotational player.

CJ,
Like I said, the money will be there for Nnamdi. At this point it will be his choice. Anyone who doesn't know that isn't thinkin straight.

Now to answer your question.....LAMAR WOODLEY

I still have nightmares of Bo going down and limping off the field. I had such a man crush on that guy.

Why did it have to happen?
