Miller’s message to teammates

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Monday, April 25th, 2011 at 8:30 pm in Oakland Raiders.

Just got a return e-mail from Raiders tight end and player rep Zach Miller with regard to judge Susan Nelson’s ruling for an injunction to lift the NFL lockout.

“I have told my guys that they are free to go back to work.,” Miller said. “Any player that chooses to should be allowed to go into the facility tomorrow.”

That would also include treatment for injuries.

The NFL has appealed the ruling and it remains to be seen if any or how many players will force the issue or if the club will allow them in the building if they show up to work.

Raiders linebacker Quentin Groves openly wondered on his Twitter account if anyone would be in Alameda and speculated that quarterback Jason Campbell was a possibility.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the NFL management council has advised teams to let players in the facility if they show up for work.

To explain my dislike for Mayocks word choices is he’s sending out negative messages that only directed at black QB’s. All people LOVE money and fame and they want to get it as easy as possible…………period

ALL PEOPLE are that way not just black people, but he word messages paint only black people that way. He needs to be made aware of the fact that he does that. he’s been doing it since he’s been on that network.

GM’s have to buy into all players they draft and that is a MAJOR concern of all their draft picks if you know anything about the draft. DOES this player really LOVE the game. Will he watch film will he dedicate himself to being great. That is a major concern of every player you draft it’s NOT race related at all.

But Mike mayock ONLY emphasizes that with black players and he needs to stop…………..period

Al Davis sure missed on Jamarcus Russell on all of those counts.

Didn’t you tell us your college film study of DHB put you in mind of Jerry Rice?

Is that why Al Davis drafted him?

Is that why you wear a pointed hat because your head is pointed??

mike mayock does the same crap every year. he makes these stabbing statements about the black QB’s and excuses the white QB’s. he did the same thing with Russell and Brady Quinn that he’s doing with Gabbert and Newton. Now neither Rusell or Quinn have done muc in the NFL. But he’ll say that Russell doesn’t love the game he wont say it about Quinn or Leinert or any white QB. Who may have that exact same short coming he’ll only say it about black QB’s

Alex Smith has the same issues as any black QB that underperforms but it’s worded differently. Tim Couch didn’t put in the tim e it takes to develope neither did Ryan leaf. But they don’t say it like they will about Cam Newton, Vince Young, and Russell they’ll sya they’re more interested in just being good and rich and the same is true with many white and black and even green.

But Mayock will only say that about the black QB’s it’s very subtle but it’s still racial………….period

I have more of those concerns about Mallett than I do Newton. Gabbert to me is Alex Smith and that may be good enough if he’s with the right situation he could be very successful for all I know. I just think he is way way overhyped.

This is so right on. Did you see Tory Holt and Warren Sapp react to Mayock’s comments? Sapp brought up Couch too. As if every black QB that fails does so because of lack of work ethic or because they got money? Why has Alex Smith failed? David Klingler? The list goes on and on. The truth is there are a million reasons QBs drafted high don’t pan out. The biggest one is that they usually go to terrible teams. Moon was on to something.

Debo if you listen to Mayock over the years he does it every year. When he praised Brady Quinn and ripped Russell he cited the same crap. And the GM’s didn’t buy it then and they aint buying it now. But that wont stop him from trying, he has deep seated issues he needs to work through. He sees things from a viewpoint that’s actually been widely held for a long time and he struggles to let it go.

And yes I did see how Sapp went to work on him, without making it too obvious. Mayock needs to quit that crap. he doesn’t know these people any more than anyone else. But he sells the hell out of Gabbert, like he’sthe cleanest player on the board he said the exact same thing about Brady Quinn.

How is the draft going to work if we still in a lockout. There’s no work in progress, yet we giving people jobs that don’t exist.

  • Nnamdi21

    7. Blacks is lazy is what Mayocks trying to say which is ridiculous or is it it just at QB?

    =============

Play catch up. Lock outs over…

  • priesttj

I’m presently watching the top 10 draft bust and most of them are white QB’s who just didn’t make it for a variety of reasons and that doesn’t make them bad people. The QB position is the most difficult position to play in sports, because it relies on everyone around them. Including the defense and then they have to be most studious and capable leader of the entire TEAM.

I don’t take isuue with any of them but it seems people like Mayock like to make a difference between whether their white or black……..and it bothers me.

  • RaiderRetribution

Lock out is over at least until until the appeal process begins officially,

Head coaches are probablygoing to try and talk the owners into delaying the appeal process at least until after the draft so they can get playbooks to their new players (FA & draftees).

I’m telling you Al is going to sign someone, either one of his players or someone elses or he is going to trade one of his players and a draft pick to get into the first round.

I think Mayock has gotten too big for his britches. Kind of liked him at 1st, but he annoys the hell out of me now. For the longest time, he wouldn’t even rate Newton ahead of Locker. I’ve never heard an explanation from him why Brady Quinn hasn’t panned out. Bottom line is I’m always going to go with the scouts who work for the teams. Those guys do the heavy lifting when it comes to film study and evaluation of character. I’m lukewarm on Gabbert, but if he goes #1, I’ll assume he’s the best QB this year. I just can’t stand how stubborn Mayock is. Last year, he rated McCoy over Suh. We just need a few more years and a few more misses and he’ll have to start getting in line.
