Debo is a mindless dolt that cant comprehend a simple overhead projector joke. I gave up on that tard a few posts a go.

Now back to the O-Line debate. My thought is that you want your first pick to be able to contribute right away and since we do not have a 1st round pick I think our second round pick has to be treated as a first rounder and be someone that can contribute right away.

  • Raider E

I think Al is gonna move up to 25 if Locker is still there. If he were gonna move up far enough to take Kim? It would be for Patrick Peterson.

    Depending on what…
Would you advocate to trade some of next year’s picks to move up/or get additional picks this year to draft Kappy?

    ===================

I would. He could be a good fit in Raiderland I feel…

Campbel is stil a question mark career wise. Razzone calls Locker the next Brett Favre and claims it was Locker supporting cast that made him look “inaccurate”.
    Wow…

Jakr Locker is gonna be the best QB to come out this draft.

  • RaiderRockstar

DB’s Moore, House, Chekwa, Gilchrist & Brown would all be available … as would WR’s Young, Jernigan, Gates & Hankerson

  • Raider E

I live in Spokane WA. and watch all Huskie games by default. Locker had absolutely nothing great to compliment him at UW. He had a couple decent players and thats it.

  • guest123

Is the OAC going to be called the big “O” or will it still be the black hole?

  • Raider E

UW just had a winless season a couple years back if that tells you anything.

  • Harder2000

We have several needs, and could use a few more picks IMO. A possibility could be a trade down with the Pats, trading our # 48 for their # 60 and # 92.
This woulod leave us to pursue an extra potential starter, as this draft doesnt seem very topheavvy, but pretty deep. In this case I wouldn’t mind seeing a draft like this:

    Rd. 2 : # 60, Orlando Franklin, OT/G
    - he projects as a great starting G who fits our system. He has been a little under the radar, but is a great player with a mean streak! Potentially this could be Ijalana, Rackley, Boling or Wiz who imo is better fit for the Zone scheme.

    Rd. 3a : # 81, Davon House, CB, / Curtis Brown, CB
Both are great CB’s who have shown they can play Man as we need, but most likely only one will be available. If both should be of the board Gilchrist, CB/FS, or DeAndre McDaniels S, could be potential picks.

    Rd. 3b : # 92, Bruce Davis, OLB
He is a great talent and have had a speedy recovery from his torn ACL, will be a dominant WILL during the season, or at least for the future. He may not be available, but then Foster, OLB, KJ Wright, OLB, or Casey Matthews, LB, might be.

    Rd. 4 : # 113, Jordan Cameron, TE
He is a great recieving TE, and his size and measerables make him a great fit for Hue’s system. We need a recieving threat next to Miller, and especially in two TE sets which Hue loves to run. His blocking can be coached up, but he seems to be a diamond in the rough. Virgil Green and Rob Housler could be other TEs of interest.

    Rd. 5 : # 148,Marcus Cannon, OT
Marcus Cannon is a great talent and could be a really good value here. He will fall drastically due to his cancer, as treatment will cause him to have extreme weightloss and render him unable to practice for up to 24 weeks. Also, doctors couldn’t guarantee that he would be able to play football again, although the speculations say he will. Regardless he will have to sit out the entire first season, but if he recovers he will be a future starter. Repeat story from that of Michael Bush who broke his leg and has proven to be a great #4 rd pick! IMO we would have to pick him here as he will not fall to us in the 6th, and he has great value – plus he fits the scheme. He could be gone however, in which case I would prefer DeMarcus Love, OT/G, Chris Hairston, OT, or Chris Culliver, CB/FS.

    Rd. 6 : # 181, Owen Marecic, FB
He is a punishing blocker who has played both ways as ILB and FB. He has a mean streak and could complement Reece greatly, as well as help wear down the defense. He could be gone this late however, especially as Harbaugh could be interested in bringing his own player with him. If he’s not available, Deunta Williams, FS, or Terrance Toliver (6’4″), WR, could be potential picks.

    Rd. 7a : # 219, David Mims, OT
This man is HUGE in every sense of the word! 6’8″, 335 Lbs and arms of 36+ inches. He could be gone, could even go a couple of rds before, but most see him as a 7th rder, and if he is available, he will be a great pick! He has potential to be a great Mauler, but he is from Division 2 and needs to adjust to especially speed rushers, but he could potentially move to G and add depth as a Mauler right away! If he is not available Byron Bell, OT, could be the choice. He is a large Mauler as well.

    Rd. 7b : # 241, Joe Lefeged, FS
He’s fast as a Raider and he has a knack for Big Plays with many Int’s to show for it. He could be molded and compete straight away. If he should be taken, Mana Silva, FS, or Chris Prosinski, FS, should be there.

Now, many feel we need a QB for the future, and I am inclined to agree. But as I see to many needs, especially a supporting cast, I wouldnt use our 2nd rd or trade up to get one who isn’t ready to start out the gate! Instead I would trade for Jimmy Clausen (with a player or 2012 draft picks), as reports have the Panthers shopping him cheaply after they draft their franchise QB! He has immense potential, and could very well become a great QB after a year on the bench without the pressure he had last season. If he don’t pan out, and JC doesn’t do it, we can get another one next year when the QB group is better!

Also, I’m not to much against our WR group, as I feel they have great potential! But we could use a legit #1 to assist Ford, Murphy, Hey-Bey and Schilens. We could try to get one in FA, but another option is Michael Floyd who almost certainly will go through the supplemental draft due to his suspension, and he is imo as good as any WR in this draft class! He should be available for us to grab with a #2 in 2012, and that would be great value!

    This would leave us with:

    Orlando Franklin, OT/G
    Davon House, CB
    Bruce Davis, OLB
    Jordan Cameron, TE
    Marcus Cannon, OT/G
    Owen Marecic, FB
    David Mims, OT/G
    Joe LeFeged, FS
    … through the draft, and
    Jimmy Clausen, QB
    Michael Floyd, WR
… through trade and supplemental draft..

IMO that would be really solid, several instant starters or valuable backups, and two injured players who could gain a starter role after full recovery.
Then FA could supply a couple of players to add veteran leadership and proven quality! Wouldn’t mind seeing this happen..

Sorry for the long post, just started typing and this was the result.. Too excited for the draft i guess..

  • irjonny

imo you don’t wait to get a qb when you are 1-15 and have the 1st overall. you get one when you have a decent supporting cast and are competative. that’s what these high profile qbs are used to in college. now is the perfect time to take a qb i think. when he steps in he will be better protected and have more weapons to get comfortable with.

kappy, locker or mallett if we go qb early. if not trade down for more picks

  • phatcable

for al davis to continue on as raiders owner i think we need too see his birth certificate!

  • guest123

This seems to be a deep draft for RB’s. I wonder if we stockpile some in the later rounds since there wont be any chance to get them immediately following the draft because of no free agency.

one thing is for sure. 7 QB’s won’t be selected before Oakland is on the clock at #48

  • edward teach

You’re mising an important ingredient in your argument, Rockstar; the number of teams that are actively looking for a quarterback. There will be overdrafting at the quarterback position in the next few days.

Will all 7 be taken before we pick? Maybe not, but if you add Cincy to the list I gave above, there are six teams that need one, and they all pick twice before we pick once.

    Just doing the math.

ET: we don’t know what other teams owners, GM’s & Head Coaches think they need. We don’t even know what the heck Davis & Jackson have up their sleeves!

Even if a team does “need” a QB, who says they don’t have other, more pressing needs? Or may go with BPA instead of a QB just for the sake of getting one?

Other teams might think that Oakland needs a QB with Campbell & Boller under center, but that doesn’t mean we are or are not drafting one, you see?

  • SilverAndBlackBleeder

What’s good Nation?! Long time no holla fellas! I’m pretty sure I haven’t posted on here since posting about my fellow Louisvillian Bush catching that DUI. Next thing I know, my Cardinals took a bad L in the first round of this year’s NCAA tournament to Morehead St of all teams. Been in a sports funk ever since..haha, glad to see football is getting back in the swing of things. Haven’t been on my ish as I usually am. Any chance we get that CB from Florida in the supplemental draft like I’m hearing?

  • edward teach

I see, but I’m not so attached to my argument to ignore the fact that those six teams actually do have a big need for a quarterback and are in a good position to get one, and barring trades, will have two chances to do so before we pick.

I don’t claim to know what owners and GMs are thinking. I do, however, claim to know that the teams I mentioned earlier don’t have very good quarterback situations and will have the opportunity to correct that.

Oh yeah and CJ Legend 34…..you my boy and I dig your posts but I’d love to have Chad Johnson in Oakland as our vet WR. Chaz is made of glass and I’ve given up on him. Ford is a tough little guy but not a number 1. Murphy is up and down but still can be a productive player. DHB sucks until further notice and should be a 4th WR until he shows otherwise. Chad can catch and run routes and would bring some added juice to Alameda. We all know Hue loves the guy and he can mentor these youngsters on how to get open for real

  • priesttj

BHP he would more than embrace that chance in a different city. Sometimes people need a change of venue. I’m sure a few Raiders who blog on here will agree with that. Chad isnt out for Chad but he is a clown at times. Oh well though. These youngins will still be inconsistent next year without a true vet around. DHB is garb right now and Murphy is an above average guy. I like little man Ford but he isnt a possession WR
