Loper, Myers are first in
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Friday, April 29th, 2011 at 10:01 am in Oakland Raiders.
When Hue Jackson described the arrival of players to be a “trickle” he wasn’t kidding.
Guard Daniel Loper, currently the starting left guard with Robert Gallery set to leave in free agency, was the first player spotted at the facility. He left at 9:40 a.m., speaking briefly with coach Hue Jackson, who had just pulled into the parking lot.
Loper departed in a hotel shuttle without speaking to the media.
Tight end Brandon Myers pulled in a few minutes later and indicated he would be available to talk when he left.
No word from the NFL as of yet on guidelines for free agency guidelines and the start of the league year.
I’m scheduled to be on a live chat beginning at 3 p.m. that carries through the end of the session and will include outside Twitter feeds from a number of national media members as well as those from the Bay Area News Group.
I’ll check in here as time warrants.
More to come later . . .

I’m looking for Hue Jackson picks. If I see Al Davis picks, I’ll know the playoff-less slump continues.
April 29th, 2011 at 10:05 am
I say we stay put and take Mallett if he’s there. Ryan Mallett may not have the mobility you’re looking for, but he’s a whole lot more pro-ready than Kaepernick and he’s got an obvious chip on his shoulder to prove people wrong.
Don’t mortgage our first-rounder next year for a defensive end when we have way bigger issues elsewhere

Agreed with ET!

Ok, trade 2012 1st rounder to NE for 33rd and 60th
33- Kaepernick (QB)
48- Wiz (C)
60- Gilbert (RT)
Jenkins in Supplemental.
What more could we want?
April 29th, 2011 at 10:10 am
Veldheer-Loper(meh)-Wiz-Campbell-Gilbert
Kaepernick/Campbell, Mcfadden, DHB/Murphy/Ford/Schilens, Miller
Shonasty,Kelly,Seymour,Houston
Routt-Jenkins
I could handle that…

Let Hue Jackson build a team through the draft. Why did Al hired him if he doesn’t trust him?
April 29th, 2011 at 10:12 am
I can see us moving up to get Kaepernick; Campbell is OK, but will never be great.
Time to get going on the next generation.
If we draft Kappy, the JC supporters are gonna drop him like a hot potato.

Duck & AIG,
Raider fans will root for whoever gives us the best chance to win. if JCamp only has 2 TD passes entering Week 7 of the NFL season (like last year) expect some chants for Kaepernick unless we have a winning record
we started 2-4 last season and lost games to the Titans, Texans, Cards & 49ers … none of which won more than 6 games last year !!!

PFT’s second-round mock draft
Posted by Evan Silva on April 29, 2011, 10:44 AM EDT

33. Patriots: Brooks Reed, linebacker, Arizona.
The Pats might swing this pick for a future first-rounder, but we’re not projecting trades. Reed is a relentless, explosive pass rusher. New England could use a double-digit sack threat across from 2010 second-round pick Jermaine Cunningham.
34. Bills: Colin Kaepernick, quarterback, Nevada.
Of the quarterbacks left after day one, Kaepernick is the best fit for coach Chan Gailey’s offense.

ray,
I’m not concerned about what some dude at PFT thinks.
Silva probably has as much credibility at PFT as Priest TJ or Debo does here!

Pats never fail to make headline news on Draft Day!
I say we make a splash today……C’mon RAIDER NATION!!!
MAN I’M PUMPED!!!!

My prediction at #48:
QB’s Dalton & Mallett will be off the board.
O-Liners Rodney Hudson, Benjamin Ijalana & Orlando Franklin will all be gone
CB’s Aaron Williams, Brandon Harris & Ras-I Dowling will be gone as well.
at that point we’ll be able to take Colin Kaepernick or Stefan Wisniewski
April 29th, 2011 at 10:21 am
if bowers is still available we better take him…. he is by far the best available player out there… we gotta take him despite the character issues… on talent alone he is a top 5 pick… take him and watch qbs run fr there lives against us… he will be playing with a huge chip on his shoulder cuz he knows he is a top 5 pick and no one is taking a chance… yeah we need oline help but when a player of this caliber is available u take him graciously… and as for mallet, dont take a guy who cant move, especially with our line… trade up for bowers if needed, then take a o lineman….

Bowers could be another Bush where they drop because of injury.
April 29th, 2011 at 10:24 am
RRS,
I don’t think Kappy will be there at 48. Too many QB starving teams before us. Cincy, Buffalo, Redskins, Browns…

What about Dalton…what do you guys think of him?

A whole lot of hype on him yesterday. People saying he was going in the top half of the first round!
April 29th, 2011 at 10:26 am
What everybody here is failing to realize is how much cash the Raiders have to play with now that we didn’t draft in the first round or even better top 10. Al could be able to bring back Nnamndi and Huff with the money saved. If any of you have ever read Huffs twitter posts, he is still all about being a Raider.
April 29th, 2011 at 10:27 am
I don’t think the Raiders are looking at Bowers. He doesn’t fit a need. We are set on DL. Don’t know what the plan is, but I don’t think it includes a guy like Bowers.

Really?
I had heard he was thinking about the Jags or Texans if the Raiders don’t come through. Not that he doesn’t want to come back, y’know…

Whaaa? Any and all QB’s still available to the Raiders?
April 29th, 2011 at 10:32 am
stay put …a ton of value still on the board for 2nd rd…guys like Boweres, rudolph, ayers, …..if not go with a guy like boling, franklin, rackley, or the kid I really wanted before he found out he had cancer. is cannon…I would still take him he is 360, and not fat.
Brandon Harris might fall to us as well. I prefer to resign Nnamdi than draft another cb.
April 29th, 2011 at 10:38 am
anthony munoz was in the same boat as bowers on draft day… and we know what happened with him after the draft… we will see… im just impatiently waiting… i would also be happy with taking dalton or kaepernick because of their mobiltiy…. mallett can only be successful if he can decipher and react to defensive coverage schemes cuz his long lanky slow legs arent going to buy him any time

Ok, thanks. I know many of us were wondering what MR was looking for in the draft.
It is good to know you think we are a “Hue” pick away from making the playoffs.
April 29th, 2011 at 10:49 am
To get Bowers in the mid part of the second round would be a gift from the football gods! Top 5 talent at 48? Unbelievable value, a lot better than a qb to ride the pine! We have to draft a starter at 48, and Bowers would start. Truthfully, Denver picks twice ahead of us and I dont see him getting past them twice.
April 29th, 2011 at 11:42 am
I hate so say it but don’t be surprised if the Raiders take Kyle Rudolph TE -Notredame with pick 48. They have been looking for TE to run double tight formations.
This guy is an Al Davis athletic type of player. Good speed, good hands and good size.
