Add one Moore wide receiver

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Saturday, April 30th, 2011 at 11:34 am in Oakland Raiders.

The Raiders selected wide receiver Denarius Moore out of Tennessee in the fifth round, No. 148 overall.

Moore averaged 21 yards per catch, making him the kind of deep threat coveted by the franchise. Doubtful he’ll be talking much about Lane Kiffin with the Raiders.

    #46 Dakota, nice post.

If only someone would convince Al of what you just wrote.

  • J Hill

I mean he didnt even understand the dynamics of what a UT and NT DOES FOR A DEFENSE until last year by watching Madden 10 lol.

    —————————————————–

You’re really having fun with that, aren’t you.

Nevermind that the REAL issue was where the DT lined up. I thought both DT line up in the gaps between the C and G. Big deal.

How does that change the issue of a having to handle a DT?

That was never in dispute. A DT is going to doubled by a G and a C if the play is going to his side.

AND the I still say, and 9 outta 10 people agree, that Seymour is a better player than John Henderson.

  • Bauce Rules

Dakota…..run defense starts up front. That other 9 guy bs Jhill is shooting should be laughed at. Totally disagree with you on al reverting cuz he went back to wco and noodle arm qb and three non fast wrs in 2007 aka Kiffin’s first year

  • J Hill

but I would rather see a defense built to stop the run up front

    —————————————————–

These guys you want just don’t fall out of the trees.

How quickly you forget that initial target was Wilfork and not Seymour.

BJ Raji and any ole fat guy over a pro bowler at his position is ridiculous.

Houston is a young beast at LDE, why would we even think about moving him? So a lesser player can play “NT”?

    LOL!

  • Bauce Rules

Jhill of course Im gonna have fun with it. How can you dispute who the better NT is? Not up for debate when you look at the definition of a NT. Seymour aint it all around. He can rush the passer but suffers vs run and shall continue. Best we can hope for is Kelly or Seymour sprain their ankle and Hendu or a young stud NT starts there

  • raiderzmaverick

    Dakota….Hmmmm….true, true….

  • Kirk

I’ll take Henderson over Seymour anyday to stop the run.

  • Thec07

2 guys on the board Ian Williams and Jerell Powe….
Either of these 2 would fit nicely in our dline rotation, guarantee we would not be 29th in the NFL…

  • Guy

Powe is still on the board, along with Ian Williams. There is still hope

  • Dakota

    Brien,

If I recall back in 2007 Al had his rocket armed QB all lined up and waiting in the wings in 2007. If Kiffin had been in control “slow” Calvin Johnson would have been our pick in 2007….or Brady Quinn…..lol.

  • Harder2000

Powe would be my pick, but Williams is good as well! Dont get why Sturdivant falls this far? He would be great value now!

  • Thec07

    against the run

  • DutchRaider77

    D-Line Silver Lining:

    Wimbley, Seymour, Kelly, Houston/Shaunessy

    Pretty good nickel pass rush?

  • Harder2000

Powe is a beast against the run! Really clogs the middle, cant be moved – just cant! He would be a great addition in the run def!

  • J Hill

I’m still waiting on the examples of the 4-3 defense with that “run stuffer”.

I like our Dline from end to end.

I guess we can just agree to disagree on that.

Houston at 300 lbs is FAR from a Burgess type and is not a pass rushing end that should be on the right side. If anything, he is another 3 tech DT.

ShoNasty is the perfect RDE and Hendu is the perfect #3DT. If he were a bit younger and maybe a bit more durable, we could talk about him getting a few more snaps.

  • Guy

Cleveland just drafted Phil Taylor for their new 4-3 defense.

  • Thec07

Powe or Williams either way the dline would be nice
I dont trust Hendu to finish the season, we need to stop the run

29th in the league is an embarrasment…

Al needs some new investors. When he’s letting one of the best CBs in the game go. Of course, nobody will buy shares of the Raiders anymore. Who wants to invest in something that is entirely controlled by Al Davis? Most investors would sooner do business with a toddler.

  • Thec07

    Out…

  • Bauce Rules

Lol jhill do you really want me to go there? Sorry jhill but dakota already used ultimate example 2002 4-3 NT Sam Adams last time we werent punked vs run…..you lose lol. And no seymour aint better than Hendu at NT…….USE THE HIT STICK LOL

  • DutchRaider77

Predicting Matt Leinert is going to get cut.

    Where will he go?

Think the story about the Huff trade is true?

  • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Davis The Realist Dirty Raccoon

    Great draft.

  • Bauce Rules

Dakota exactly right about 2007….but he still allowed mccown to start and the dink n dunk funk all star offense with slow wrs

  • J Hill

2002 Oakland Raiders is the last example of a 4-3 defense with a run stuffer that you can come up with?

No one ran it last year?

    No one since 2002?

  • J Hill

And no seymour aint better than Hendu at NT

    ——————————————————

    I guess Wauffle disagrees.

  • Bauce Rules

Jhill remember the Carolina Panthers with Kris Jenkins? how about Albert Haynesworth in Tennessee? Hendu in Jax? Rmemeber grady jackson?

  • Bauce Rules

Jhill if you cant line up the fact that our run d suffers from not having a true base NT than you will never get it. Aand they dont double seymour all the time. They switch off to Kelly alot. You know why? Cuz they know he just wants to shoot the gap

  • Bauce Rules

Jhill u gonna use that straw ass theory with me on waufle eh? So Cable was right to sit dmac for farglass? How bout cable with the grad thing? I can go on and on and bust that to pieces

  • J Hill

Wauffle has produced Dline after Dline.

    Cable was an effin clown.

    Hardly see the comparison.

  • hendu

Hey Bri-n,yes Im with ya,I like Hendu at nt alot, just wish he were a few years younger! RAIDERS!!!!!

  • Dakota

    Jhill,

You know that there is a certain way the D is run in Oakland, which is unique, so why not look at the last time we were successful against the run as an example of what needs to be done?

Al likes to put two pass rushing DTs on the field because the other team’s QB must go down and must go down hard. Okay, fine, but that philosophy gets pretty sketchy when teams don’t have to pass to beat you….

It had been overemphasized in the past 7 years because the offense was so inept. Having an offense like we did last year creates more opportunities for the pass rushers Al prefers, but the Achilles heel will continue to be stopping the run until Al gets some coach to convince him that we need another Sam Adams.

  • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Davis The Realist Dirty Raccoon

Kurt Warner says inside pressure is the hardest for a QB to handle. Hmm R. Seymour @ DT

LOL You think NT is the problem? The problem is that no one can block shed and when they do they can’t tackle. A NT wouldn’t help just like a $15million CB wont help make an awful defense look good.

  • BloodRaider

We’re not just letting Aomugha go.
Asomugha’s deal included a little-known clause that said his contract would void if he didn’t achieve his not-likely-to-be-earned incentives in 2010 — and he didn’t.
His contract also contained a stipulation that if he didn’t achieve his incentives, the Raiders would agree not to designate him their franchise or transition player.
To achieve his incentives, Asomugha had to play in a greater number of defensive plays in 2010 than he did in 2009, and this season Asomugha played in only 14 games whereas he played in all 16 in 2009.
He also could have achieved his incentives by improving upon on his interceptions, fumble recoveries or sacks this season — but he didn’t have any interceptions, fumble recoveries or sacks this season.

  • J Hill

U roll with you theory and I’ll roll with mine. It is what it is.

Our issue is giving up the big run, not consistantly getting gashed.

That’s ONE OR TWO plays a game where if a LB or S makes a tackle, it’s a 10 yd gain instead of a long TD run.

If you can’t acknowledge that then you are just dug in on your point and won’t face reality.

2 or 3 BIG runs per game is not going to be solved by a “run stuffer”. The other guys are getting paid to and that run stuffer will occasionally be blocked well. When that happens, if we STILL have the whiffs and bad angles from our LBs and Ss, we will still be 29th in the league against the run.

    Not that hard!

  • J Hill

    Dakota,

Al Davis tried to trade for Vince Wilfork!

    He couldn’t get him.

So he didn’t any of the other fat guys in the last 2 drafts. Niether did I.

But I’d gladly welcome Wilfork or Ngata if they’ll come.

Yeah, but what will you do when Al does finally go? A person as mean spirited and hateful as you will have to have a new target to blame all the troubles of the world on.

  • CMon Man

Anybody that is happy with DHB over BJ Raji is as fixated on speed and video games as the owner

  • Buckeyeraider

You guys think AD takes a shot at Tyrod Taylor if he’s still there in a few picks?

The guy had an impressive 24-5 td/int ratio last year at Va Tech. Would defenitely be a project. probably never be another Vick, but could be a potential backup.

Did Greg Jones LB from Mich St get drafted, and I just missed it? Don’t recall seeing his name and he’s not on the best next available yet. I thought he had a 2nd/3rd rd grade.

  • Guy

i have a bad feelign we will take virgil green

  • hendu

POST90,couldnt have said it better,gus/mr/mrs is one miserable BI!

  • Guy

Greg Jones is still on the board, would love for him or Powe/Ian Williams to be the pick here.

  • The Blackhole

I have a good feeling we take Ricardo Lockette

  • Buckeyeraider

    Never mind about Taylor.

  • Dakota

Al just traded next year’s first round pick to NE for NE’s three seventh round picks. Al thinks this year’s draft class is way too deep to pass up these trackstars!
