Callahan was a first year HC that took his team to the Superbowl and I think Tomlin at Pitt.

    ……….

Are you intentionally leaving out that Callahan took over Gruden’s team and that Tomlin took over Cowher’s team, or did you honestly not know that?

Nation what do you think of getting Clausen from Carolina and sitting him behind Jcamp for a while?

Hes still young, and may be able to benefit from bench development

Dakota’s wet dream come true? no thanks!

not unless Carolina flat out dumps him or lowers the asking price to a 2013 5th rounder

QB Jerrod Johnson (#1 overall) and OLB Mark Herzlich (10th Round) were drafted in the UFL draft yesterday.

AS well as two of my Fresno State Bulldogs: QB Ryan Colburn (3rd overall) and WR Jamel Hamler (6th Round).

It is unclear if any players will sign contracts with the UFL as that would keep them out of the NFL for the entire season, if the NFL season ever starts.

    *****************

The UFL will not release players from their roster, unless an NFL Team pays out a 250,000 grand release fee.

A lot of NFL clubs were reluctant to do so last year for some players-I think maybe Dominic Rhodes was one of them?

Anyway, the Undrafted rookies are really going to have to think twice about signing a UFL contract, which the only way they can break it, is, if the NFL team who wants them, is willing to really pony up.

The player’s agent most likely will advise them to hold off in hope of the big check, while a $50K contract, at 3% minimum for an agent is peanuts….$1,500.00 or so for the agent, and what do they really care? Focus will be on the big $.

    LOL, Dakota…Rockstar didn’t jinx no one…!
Anyways…Why is it looking like middle of July now? Not sure what that June 3rd signifigance means. If it goes to August, does the FA’s have to sign with their current teams for one year?

  • DIRT-LOT FOOTBALL

GOOD ? HWNRDR.CAN A TEAM EVEN SIGN DRAFT PICKS ?

  • guest123

    Good morning nation

  • hwnrdr

Good Morning Dirt Lot…No. Teams are not allowed to have contact and vice versa. Like the “Wisnewski’s”…they can talk because they are family, but nothing football related…

  • guest123

I know legally that they can’t do much, but someone posted last night that Drew Brees is doing some sort of private OTA’s. Is that allowed? Did they get the playbooks out and make a break for a kinkos and copy it and distribute bootleg copies.

You know there has to be some nefarious dealings going on.

  • guest123

Round #1 rookies were able to get playbooks, but round #2 rooks and later aren’t allowed. You think they meet up distribute copies?

If so, is this like one of those college type infractions where a club can be penalized?

  • hwnrdr

Yeah I heard about that too! I don’t see anything illegal with that, though. It’s just players with players. About the playbook…that I don’t know…maybe a runner made the run for kinkos…LOL

The hearing date for the NFL’s appeal is June 3rd, it will take 30-45 days AFTER that for the 8th circuit to make its ruling meaning NFL doors will not open until Mid July at the earliest. That will all be moot if the 8th circuit doesnt grant the NFL a continuance on the stay though, the 8th circuit could force the doors open on 6/3 if they deem appropriate.

  • hwnrdr

Good Morning Bcz24…Thanks for that info!

Players who received their playbook are not under any legal obligation NOT to distribute it to their teammates who did not get it, other than the non-disclosure agreement they sign as far as sharing it with anyone NOT on the roster.

  • bcz24

    You got it brother.

  • guest123

This whole mess is a deadlock until at least June 3rd, but could be a lot longer than that.

Saw a report today that the 8th Circuit court of appeals granted the owners’ request for an expedited appeal, scheduled for June 3rd. The owners’ brief is due May 9; the players’ response is due May 20; and the owners’ reply is due May 26.

Then oral argument will be June 3, and the ruling will be sometime — probably no more than a month, but who knows? — after that.

    :(

  • Silverandblack666

” NFL doors will not open until Mid July at the earliest.”

There goes mini camp and here comes more players getting in trouble with the law or tweeting stupid things and from this we all get a watered down NFL season.

  • guest123

I know Schefter reported last night that a ruling typically comes 4-6 weeks after the hearing, which would put the decision in early to mid July. If that’s remotely accurate, we REALLY REALLY REALLY want the owners request for a stay to be denied. If the stay is granted, we would most likely be looking at no football activity for the next two plus months.

That’s another good reason why Al and Amy Trask are into hiring high character dudes. Imagine if we had drafted Jimmy Smith, and he’s waiting around all summer with nothing better to do but get into his usual thug routine. And then the league starts up and he’s already on suspension.

  • guest123

Negotiations are supposed to begin again in Minnesota on May 16th, but they are a waste of time, until the appeal is heard. The owners wont budge and have no incentive to.

Anymore news on Reggie Bush and his potential pay cut to stay in NO?

  • guest123

The latest Bush article from the Times Picayune

    http://www.nola.com/…ay_they_wo.html

Basically the coach and Loomis think its about money and that they will be able to convince Bush to stay for a lowered sum in a more limited role. I know Reggie and his ego are not going to bite. He wants to be a bigger part of a team and loathes standing on the sideline watching someone else do it. He see’s the writing on the wall and did in fact tweet about it. “Its been fun New Orleans” . Reggie is going to force the Saints to cut him and thus free him up to take the best offer or to go where he wants to go.

  • irjonny

imo they have to grant the stay. there is no way that the nfl get’s irreparable harm from letting business happen. the players on the other hand can’t get playbooks or practice with a new team to even make the team. that is irreparable harm.

  • Silverandblack666

Yeah thats what I thought….I am wondering who will pay him that kind of money to be a situational player?

  • CJ Legend 34
  • Silverandblack666

    “irreparable harm”

Is what some players are doing to themselves during the lock out, tweeting and driving drunk.

  • guest123

San Diego may have an opening if they can’t resign Sproles. Bush would go there for the same money as NO is offering. I think he’d swallow his pride.

  • CJ Legend 34

He can go to Seattle with his old cheating buddy.

There is not irreparable harm to the owners. They are still making millions instead of billions of dollars as the games are cancelled. Players who are mere millionaires are seeing their fortunes go up in flames. Remember a typical NFL player’s career is a mere 3 years. Those that are in their prime are getting gutted about now.

No way the players can win this thing.

  • guest123

Update on the UFL draft’s impact to UFDA’s…

Pat and Tim on Sirius interviewed Jim Fassel(UFL HC) today and he stated the fee is not in existence any longer…..

There are also new clauses that allow better flexibility.

The season starts in August now.

If a player is requested off the UFL team before the season starts, the player gets a free pass.

He did not say what parameters though must be met to allow them off the team during the season though

  • guest123

    UDFA’s, erp. not UFDA’s….fat fingers.

  • guest123

I am interested in the impact of the June supplemental draft. I heard that Ohio State QB Terrelle Pryor was interested in throwing his name in the hat to avoid the 5 game suspension he has coming to him. I guess that is going to be cancelled too.

  • CJ Legend 34

If Reggie Bush is going to get back to another Championship his best chances are with the Saints.
Great coach, QB, GM, etc. etc.

Who else not in a desperate position to fill seats is going to give Reggie that much money?

The reason Reggie has been successful and not a bust is because how Sean Payton helps scheme the offense for Reggie. Putting him in space bouncing him around creating mismatchees.

I would love to see him try to be an every down back with SD. He would get smashed. LMAO!!!!! Less carries will help him extend his career.

Plus New Orleans stood by him when he was going through his USC situation. Hopefully, he takes that into account.

  • CJ Legend 34

I really doubt that would happen. He could stand to make more money entering the draft next year even after the 5 game suspension.

No, word here in Columbus, OH that there is any truth to that story.

Plus, Guest123 you don’t think TP is the answer do you?

  • irjonny

out of a 53 man roster. let’s be generous and say that 30 of them make real nfl money. the other 23 are competing to be starters, sign with other teams as a free agent, and 6-15 players don’t make a squad because teams can’t work them out or let them compete for a spot. i’m not saying the players should win the appeal, but there is no reason for them to grant a stay to the nfl in these conditions this late in the game.

  • guest123

    Back to the lockout:

The decision won’t be on June 3. It will probably be sometime within the next month after that. (Maybe a week or two, maybe four weeks, possibly longer.)

It will either uphold the preliminary injunction against the lockout — in which case the lockout will end unless and until it is determined to be legal (probably sometime in 2012).

Or it will overturn the preliminary injunction against the lockout — in which case the lockout will remain in effect unless and until it is determined to be illegal (probably sometime in 2012), or until the owners voluntarily decide to end it (perhaps by agreeing to a new CBA), whichever comes first.

  • Silverandblack666

“I would love to see him try to be an every down back with SD”

My thoughts exactly let A.J Smith pay him a ton of money then run him between the tackles 20 times a game!!

    ********

No, doubt he’d go high in the supplemental with so many QB’s already taken and so many potential FA QB’s. I just think it’s interesting that college cheaters still have a get-out-of-jail card the supplemental draft offers. I know it wasn’t meant to be that, but for guys like Pryor, it is.

  • guest123

I think Bush is homesick. He never left Southern Cal. He has a very good situation and Sean Payton has enabled him to play to his strengths. But he fears contact, and he wont get any favors from Norv Turner. He’s going to have grow a pair if he wants to play in the AFC West.
