Campbell, Seymour organizing workouts

Raiders quarterback Jason Campbell said on “Profootballtalk Live” that he and defensive tackle Richard Seymour are organizing workouts for players under contract at undisclosed date and time.

Campbell said he has already been throwing with wide receivers Louis Murphy and Darius Heyward-Bey, and that he received his playbook during the one-day window where the lockout was lifted by court order.

Chances are most players under contract received their playbooks either through mail or electronically during the window.

Response for the workouts, Campbell said, was good, but noted he didn’t expect large number of free agents on the roster to attend.

I’ll have more later when I sort through some computer issues . . .

DutchRaider, you have to understand. These rube middle Americans have been brainwashed by television to think that police imposing on our civil rights is actually cool.

Im not a ‘rube middle American’. I DO believe if you refuse to pull over for an officer that he does have the right to search your vehicle. Its called probable cause genius. Chances are if you refuse to pull over there is a reason, and it isnt JUST because you dont think the officer has the right to pull you over. Cops make mistakes, i understand this, and also note that i said 3 times that i think what Murph was arrested for was bs. But he should have just taken the ticket, he would have never gotten searched in the first place. Most officers are pretty cool as long as you cooperate and dont delibrately give them a hard time.

Nice leadership from Campbell and Seymour. Good on the team to get playbooks out on the one day.

  • guest123

Good for Jason Campbell and Richard Seymour! They are acting like leaders, setting the example.

Imagine the horror if this lockout happened a couple of years ago. Do you think JaMarcus Russell would have gotten off his fat azz and set up a players only minicamp?

I tell ya guys, trust me. This team is going to be ready when they finally lift the lockout. It’s all good.

  • guest123

Wow Davy, we were thinking the same thing at the same time. Nice call!

  • hwnrdr

Love it…just as long as no one gets injured! But staying positive here… Thank goodness for finally having leaders again!

It’s good to see dhb is back in the offseason working things out as well as Murphy although I thing dhb need the work more. It’s nice to see that his work ethic last year wasn’t a fluke let’s just hope it pays off.

As far as cambell goes that’s great he’s stepping up as a leader who knows maybe 2 years with the same system will do him some good……maybe!

This is such BS. I cant wait for this Lockout crap to be over with. Even if it ends before the season begins, this lockout is going to have an even larger impact on a really young team like the Raiders. The Raiders desperately need the offseason to teach.

  • M Lonetree

nice that Seymour and Soup are being professionals.

    playbooks, throwing some routes
defensive workouts – standard fare for same scheme

where the lockout hurts is O-line. rookie C, rookie RT, essentially rookie RG (Soup II), 2nd year LT, ???LG…new blocking scheme…cohesion…yikes

yet, as for the Raiders position as a small market team
having a larger initial piece of the pie going to ownership is a need. the wealthier owners hate the revenue sharing that benefits the Oaktowns and Jacksonvilles of the league. The smaller the piece of the $9 billion pie that goes off the top to the owners the less willingness there will be to help out the smaller market franchises.

so, in reality, as much the lockout hurts the Raiders O-line, the financial benefits for the Raiders down the road require a shift in the CBA with more initial monies going to the league.

So, basically 4/5ths of our Offensive Line, our Starting TE, and our #2 RB will not show up for the workouts. Basically we have the QB, WRs and if McFadden shows up a Running Back.

On Defense, we’ll have more. We could have our whole Defensive Line, LBs and half of our Secondary. Of course, on something like this I’d like to have Namdi there as he’s like a coach on the field also.

Florida City Paying $2,500 A Day To Radical Union-Busting Firm To Stop Workers From Organizing

All over the country, right-wing lawmakers are waging a war on Main Street America’s labor rights, purporting to do so out of a desire for fiscal restraint (while also backing budget-busting tax breaks for the wealthiest among us).

Now, the city of Winter Park, Florida, is going to new lengths to stop nearly 150 city workers from joining a union. Apparently more concerned with stopping the union than saving money, Winter Park hired consultants at Kulture LLC, “a firm specializing in labor relations” at the rate of $2,500 a day to persuade workers to vote against organizing this summer:

AWESOME!!!!! JASON CAMPBELL IS THE TRUTH!!!!!

Ok so you dont have all the players, and it limits what you can actually do. however JC has the playbook and his projected starting wr! This means they can practice routs and timing to build that oh so elusive chemistry.

More than any thing this is about leadership. He is setting the tone for the entire organization. This does nothing but increase his value to the coaching staff and old man Al, and commands respect from the locker room. Everyone will know he is serious, and about winning, because of his work ethic. This also forces the hand of younger players to follow his example. dont think for a minute that Hu jack & Davis arent thrilled to the gills behind this. This is just as big and meaningful as seymour coming to camp on the rookie bus last year.

Campbell is hungry. He wants to be great, and is seizing his best opportunity to date. he has far more talent around him than ever before and seems to be keenly aware of the moment. He will have a good year, earn a new contract, and have an even bigger year next year.

When was the last time we had a true leader on offense? This is no longer a collection of talented guys, it is a team. Seymore and JC will be team captains, and they will lead us to the playoffs. Book it!!!!!

I just heard Jason Campbell on a radio interview, he said dhb murph, and dmac will all be at these work outs. Dont look now but our play makers are looking up to and following JC!!!!

He says, DHB is improving even more this year, and his rout running has noticeably changed for the better. he expects DHB to take another step forward this year.

I’ve said it a million times and i’ll say it a million more, DHB’s problems are more mental than physical. Watch him in college and he caught the ball much better and he was a solid route runner that was good at setting up the DB. He gets to the pros and he starts pressing because of his draft position

  • Mistic1 Tha Supavillain

Maybe having a qb he believes in will help him out. Seems that he & JC have really started bonding over the off season, this can only help.

Hopefully he can develop into a solid target for JC. A semi-productive DHB and a healthy Chaz will do wonders for JC, our offense, and our team

Which playbook, the 1967 written by Davis or the newer version printed on a printer?

  • dbaz09

Jmac needs to stay in touch with Dwhite so he can fill us in on who he ends up rooting for. He’ll probably just say the bulldogs.

  • Twocents

I was thinking about what a “free market” NFL would look like and came up with this.

The draft is unfair to players. In a free market they should be allowed to sign a contract to provide their services for a specific length of time to any team they choose.

The owners claim they need the draft to equalize competition, but do they?

As long as there is revenue sharing and a mechanism to remove incompetent teams, the league would be very competitive.

Also, a player should be allowed to refuse any trade.

    What do you think?

Nice to see these three putting in the time- an improvement from them will bring balance to the O next year.

    But hey, where’s Jacoby Ford?
