Bush a restricted free agent

The NFL has confirmed that Raiders running back Michael Bush is a restricted free agent, which therefore gives the Raiders a certain amount of protection against losing him to another team.

The Raiders offered Bush a one-year tender in March. As a restricted free agent, other teams are free to offer Bush a contract. If that happens, the Raiders have the right to match the offer or receive a first-round draft pick as compensation.

The Raiders selected Bush with the first pick of the fourth round in the 2007 NFL draft. Getting a first-round pick in return for losing Bush would be pretty sweet compensation.

Just the same, that’s a pretty steep price to pay and points to the Raiders getting back Bush for this season, if not longer.

The league’s decision to not count Bush’s rookie season — he sat out while recovering from a broken leg he suffered at Louisville — is a boon to the Raiders. It’s a blow to Bush from the standpoint that he can’t reap the riches as an unrestricted free agent, which requires four accrued seasons.

RFL, what are the Raiders now, after 8 years of Al Davis running the show without any help from Gruden?

    ##########################

Gruden was a young nobody, then your daddy AL hired him. No other GM/Owner would have done that.

  • hendu

One never can tell when Brien is in the house, can ya,mrs?

  • Born with a Patch

Gruden owes much to AL… yes he whooped us in the Soop but Al gave him his start. Gruden still talks highly of Al

  • http://www.aldavissucks.blogspot.com RAIDER

Al DAvis laugh at me? my god. If I ever saw him, I think I would laugh the rest of the day. Where do we start? The press conference firing Kiffin? Gruden destroying him in the Super Bowl?

  • YoungAmerican

DT Ian Williams to the 49ers.

Still a handful of posters in here flaming each other. Good to see some things never change. Well, maybe that isn’t a good thing…

  • http://www.aldavissucks.blogspot.com RAIDER

Yeah, Gruden was nobody when Al hired him. Just an obscure offensive coordinator for a large market east coast NFL football team. He was just really out there flapping in the wind. My goodness. You’re something else, RFL.

Word. This place gets pretty tiresome.

Luckily, a few of us like talking about football.

  • Born with a Patch

You might laugh at him but in your life, you wont do half of what that man has done. i know you waste more energy thinking and talking about him than he ever will of you. if you really wanna come at AD then you gotta step up to his level first. if not then you are just wasting time

Exactamundo…..no other team would hire him as a head coach. But Al did!!!!!!!!!!!

  • http://www.aldavissucks.blogspot.com RAIDER

Well, according to that logic, you can’t get on Gruden or Kiffin’s level, Patch. You’ve never coached. So you can’t get at them till you get on their level. See how easy these games are?

  • Born with a Patch

    I’m done wasting time….

Cant wait til the team is set at 53 so we can really start talking football!

  • http://www.aldavissucks.blogspot.com RAIDER

RFL, that was sarcasm, buddy. Gruden was an OC for a large market east coast team when Al hired him. So, somebody had to have heard of him before Al.

  • Born with a Patch

Didn’t call out Gruden, i think he was a terrific coach. didn’t even mention kiffin….. i give respect where it belongs bro

Kirkpatrick to the Colts. Devlin to the Cardinals.

Micheal Bush will have the biggest year of anyone offensively his skillset is incredible probably the bets hands on the team running skills like a scatback only he’s 250 and late in games defenders hate to have to tackle him.

  • Born with a Patch

I say we find out what is Nnamdi’s $ then we flat out cut Routt to save money and bring back 21

  • priesttj

YA Where are you getting the UDFA news from?

  • http://www.aldavissucks.blogspot.com RAIDER

You know what, priest? You know what’s sad? You’re probably right. Bush will be our best offensive player, with 600 rushing yards and 800 all purpose yards.

I was kind of hoping that the Raiders would pick up Devlin. I know he doesn’t have the Al davis arm but his short and medium throws are lazers with a quick release. He played out of the shotgun so who knows how he will do in the NFL.

  • Born with a Patch

I hope so… he’s the Raider dream, considered a reach of a draft pick that turned into arguably the best corner in the game.

maybe we could get deunta williams from NC.

Just so you know YA the Raiders as a rule NEVER release their UDFA signings when everyone else does. You probably wont know who they’ve signed until morning. Mr Davis just doesn’t want other teams knowing that way he has somewhat of an edge.

  • priesttj

The only way to find out is through the players agent and they ask him to keep it quite.

Only leaves the one week to prepare for the final roster. Not much of an edge but I think more of an old ball coach thing.

Mr D believes if teams don’t know how agressive you are they may not expect certain things and you can get a player or two. I know a few times it has worked to our advantage no matter how slim. Expecially in this environment it’s a feeding frenzy and they just concentrate on the matter at hand the media can wait.
