List of Raiders unrestricted free agents

Monday, July 25th, 2011 at 1:20 pm in 2011 Preseason, Oakland Raiders.
Teams are allowed to negotiate with free agents starting Tuesday. Deals can’t be finalized until 3 p.m. on Friday.
With that in mind, here is a list of the Raiders unrestricted free agents:
Offensive linemen Langston Walker, Mario Henderson, Khalif Barnes, Samson Satele and Robert Gallery, cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, quarterbacks J.T. O’Sullivan, Charlie Frye and Bruce Gradkowski, linebackers Sam Williams, Ricky Brown, Thomas Howard and Jarvis Moss (also plays defensive end), safety Michael Huff, tight end Zach Miller, wide receiver Johnnie Lee Higgins and long-snapper Jon Condo.
Everything we have been told points to running back Michael Bush being a restricted free agent.

According to ProFootballTalk.com the 2011 cap is going to be set at $120.375 million. But there is going to be some wiggle room on that number.
Teams are going to have a $3.5 million fund that they can use to go towards veterans that won’t count against the cap. They will also have $3 million dollars that they can borrow from the 2011 salary cap. With a new TV deal the cap is going to rise, which will lessen the blow of borrowing. Also to ease teams into this they will be able to borrow $1.5 million from the 2013 cap for 2012.
And all of that means that the Raiders will be able to spend $126.875 million. The Raiders are still over that figure, but at least it is closer. Now let’s just wait and see what kind of contract magic this team can work to move under that figure.

With Al’s history of overspending, almost anyone could’ve stepped out onto the ledge and said that the Raiders were way over the salary cap. Having said that, following an uncapped year, there will be several teams that will really feel the pinch. One is the Cowgirls – I simply don’t think they’ll be in a position to give the big money to Nnamdi — I predict right here, right now, that he’s going to Houston.

If you read Clayton article (That came straight from ESPN, Dakota) it speculates that the Raiders could have 26 million in dead $ based on contracts that were voided this year. That makes zero sense to me. Wimbley reaches performance incentives that voids his contract, but the Raiders get penalized cap wise? Uh, what??!!??!!
NO mention of dead money for the Javon Walkers and Jamarcus Russells. Why don’t you actually read the articles on ESPN before you use them as sources!

Given good solid line play, he is capable of making good throws and handing the ball off to D-Mac. He can manage a game, much like Trent Dilfer (who was never very good, but annointed as GREAT simply because he won a world championship by not f-ing up during the big game). There is not one other article saying we are over the cap that is not referencing Clayton’s number. He’s basing it off who we signed as FAs this right before the lockout and possible dead money created when some of our players contracts voided.
I guess we’ll find out soon enough though.

I was just joking when I responded to mistabrown.
I actually like Janikowski. Even after Az last year and some other misses.
Think Jani does a very good job on kickoffs for the most part. Still don’t understand that squib against Jax last year.
Jani’s made some real clutch kicks too. 42 yarder in the ‘tuck’ game was a thing of beauty. Best kick of his career – better than all the longer ones.
I think Jani is one of the best kickers in the NFL. Disagree with Mista on that.
As far as the Raider record for 2011, I’ll have to wait til I see the roster.
I will say that with a decent QB Raids make the playoffs last year, and would have a great chance of winning the AFC West this season.
With JaJason, I think it’ll be miraculous to win 10 games.
Still that might be enough to take the division.

Raiders’ first order of business get Mr. Wisniewski and Mr. Barksdale under contract.
NFL teams can sign rookies and undrafted free agents tomorrow (Tues.).
OL = Vehldeer Loper Wisniewski Campbell Barksdale
This will put the Raider management at a stronger position in negotiating FA contracts for Mr. Satele, Mr. Barnes and OLinemen from other teams.

Been through it all with the Raids. All the great years and near misses, before smacking Minny for our first SB win. Great teams, great times, great games.

Raiders will find a way to re-sign Zach, given that the new OC likes to use the TE a lot. Henderson also.
As far as the rest go, it’s a tossup. Nnamdi deserves another big payday – but not from the Raiders. I’m guessing Washington, since they love to overspend.

Jerry seems to think Langston is going to retire. I think Al talks him into one more season as a backup at a decent salary. Don’t see him earning much anywhere else.
