Gallery, Gaither, Goldson and Gradkowski oh my
By Steve Corkran
Tuesday, July 26th, 2011 at 10:25 pm in Oakland Raiders.
On what qualified as a less-than-spectacular start to free agency, several former and hope-to-be Raiders made news by night’s end.
NFL.com reported that the Raiders are negotiating with Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Jared Gaither and 49ers safety Dashon Goldson.
Elsewhere, former Raiders offensive lineman Robert Gallery reportedly is fielding offers from the Seattle Seahawks and Cincinnati Bengals. It’s conceivable that Gallery could be reunited with former Raiders quarterback Bruce Gradkowski in Cincinnati, given the Bengals are speaking with Gradkowski’s agent, according to ESPN.
The Raiders made it clear to Gallery during the offseason that they have no interest in paying him what top guards command. Gradkowski was favored by former Raiders coach Tom Cable over current quarterback Jason Campbell last season. Campbell finished out the season as a result of Gradkowski suffering a separated shoulder.
Goldson started all 16 games each of the past two seasons. He had one interception last season and four in 2009. He would give the Raiders another viable candidate to replace free safety Michael Huff, who is an unrestricted free agent.
Gaither, 6-feet-9 and 340 pounds, missed last season with a back injury. He started 26 games at left offensive tackle in 2008-09. If signed by the Raiders, they could play him at either left or right tackle, with Jared Veldheer manning the opposite tackle spot.

Go Raiders
July 26th, 2011 at 10:31 pm
Veldheer=LT;Gaither=RT.This would allow Barksdale to adapt to the pro game.
July 26th, 2011 at 10:31 pm
we’re not winning the Super Bowl this year…so we should be doing things that help or improve our chances for winning it NEXT year…get financially healthy, develop a nucleus, develop them for the future.
July 26th, 2011 at 10:31 pm
there is a 10 year CBA, learn it and exploit it for the next 10 years.
July 26th, 2011 at 10:36 pm
this year….keep Blue chip players, and sign nobody else for more than what they are worth….NOBODY.
July 26th, 2011 at 10:37 pm
hell yeah ive been callin for gaither!! now thats what im talkin about. hopefully we sign his big azz and he bust heads. if we get lil b’s boy duece duece then we got a powerful athletic line to knock fools. if miller dont wanna be a part of this then get boss from the NY.
goldson means they dont believe in a mitchell branch saftey duo just yet.
July 26th, 2011 at 10:37 pm
Gaither is a young LT…If he signs with the NATION, it will be with the intent on playing LT…
July 26th, 2011 at 10:37 pm
lefty if we get gaither would u rather have him at lt or rt?
July 26th, 2011 at 10:39 pm
I like ZMILL and NAM21 however if they dont want to play for the NATIOG get the fugg outta hear…
July 26th, 2011 at 10:39 pm
Lefty….im praying for it!……All those youngsters on the oline with Cooper possibly back I cant take it. I’ll take Gaither as my RT….but I need vet guards next to my rookie center
July 26th, 2011 at 10:41 pm
“If” we go after a WR i would prefer MFLOYD however, I suspect that with the ties that coach Jackson has with Chad, that Chad will be a Raider…
July 26th, 2011 at 10:42 pm
U think they’ll move Veldheer to RT? He got bigger but I doubt it. Gaither would be a fierce run blocking RT imo….but hell if he can play LT….im all for it
July 26th, 2011 at 10:43 pm
Gaither comes it will be at LT, not RT…He had issues with playing RT…He wants to play LT…
July 26th, 2011 at 10:43 pm
Corkran kicking ass on this blog today/tonight….maybe even more than the Bauce did to MR and Kell
July 26th, 2011 at 10:44 pm
Hmmm theculator….usually RTs are the bigger of the two…Gaither bigger man
July 26th, 2011 at 10:44 pm
at least we won’t be paying 20 million to a CB who doesn’t particapate in 80% of the plays.
July 26th, 2011 at 10:45 pm
Floyd I wouldnt mind but he wants bread….major!…..Chad is our best bet for a vet WR
July 26th, 2011 at 10:45 pm
http://www.baltimorebeatdown.com/2011/6/5/2207296/ravens-gaither-being-targeted-by-raiders
It has been reported that he wants to play LT not RT…Why would coach Jackson and Mr. Davis sign him to play RT knowing full well that he wants to play LT…
July 26th, 2011 at 10:46 pm
get rid of bad contracts!
July 26th, 2011 at 10:46 pm
Corkran has stepped his game up quite well…Props to the newbie….
July 26th, 2011 at 10:46 pm
some of the kids can play ball…find out who they are this year and then keep them.
July 26th, 2011 at 10:47 pm
Armond….damn Goldson I’ll pray he gets hurt if he signs….or he better denounce the 49ers like Rod Woodson did in 02
July 26th, 2011 at 10:48 pm
Thec….i already told ya Corks is da man! Fk Fairy Mac

++++++++++++=
That will keep him out of S&B as I beleive we cannot afford him…
Because of his connections to Coach Jackson Chad will be the VET WR we sign…
July 26th, 2011 at 10:49 pm
we have tons of young talent, play them and find out who is for real…cut the rest and sign some players NEXT year…we aren’t winning the Super Bowl this year.
July 26th, 2011 at 10:50 pm
Pay Gaither but dont break the bank on him…He is a good signing because he is good and young…
July 26th, 2011 at 10:51 pm
Chad is our best bet….floyd to me is a number 2 wr……chad is what we really need….he brings entire route tree capabilities,no fear, attitude, swagger and charisma. Ford out the slot will kill cuz u have to pay attention to chad…last year TO SAW THAT!
July 26th, 2011 at 10:51 pm
Here we go again Nation, let’s get et done! Bauce what it do
July 26th, 2011 at 10:51 pm
this year is training camp for the next 10 years (9 actually).
July 26th, 2011 at 10:52 pm
Yeah, I’d guess Gaither thinks of himself as a LT, and it would be part of the negotiations. If Gaither is healthy, I have to imagine he would get the nod instead of Veldheer.
July 26th, 2011 at 10:52 pm
Aggggghhhhhh 707 my brutha! Its on baby!….707raiders goes to games….tailgates….has met Bauce….fk u haters!

hahaha u the muthafugga!!! man im confused why they went after all these db’s in the draft with the current group on the roster. now goldson in FA, it just makes no sense. they definately getting rid of cj37 if goldson comes thru. this is why i wish we went DL in the draft. hopefully we get that vanilla gorilla u linked up. saw his highlights and he looks cool.
July 26th, 2011 at 10:53 pm
No goldson please, Chad sounds about right,
July 26th, 2011 at 10:53 pm
Jhill….regs are coming back as u said!
July 26th, 2011 at 10:54 pm
Goldson hella weak….stays gettin burnt….id rather keep Huff than Goldson
July 26th, 2011 at 10:55 pm
Tell em Bauce, Real Raider Nation ish! Just meet me in the D lot its all good
July 26th, 2011 at 10:55 pm
We sign Dahl that would be awesome…
Only issue that would be left is sign that “vet Wr”
July 26th, 2011 at 10:55 pm
Chad would be dope here….imagine the presser and interviews….classic
July 26th, 2011 at 10:56 pm
Aw yeah 707…I REMEMBER the indy game! Man yall had great food game!
July 26th, 2011 at 10:56 pm
What about D Mason as vet wr?
July 26th, 2011 at 10:57 pm
Actually I said our 400 lb RT was a weak link and we upgraded his position with ANYONE who replaced him.
Did we sign an OG?
July 26th, 2011 at 10:58 pm
Im down with Dahl…..i damn sure told the Raider employee in june the plan he said for the oline would be a mistake…..hell yes I think my big mouth may have prevented that by mentioning it on blog! Well I feel great if thats the case
July 26th, 2011 at 10:58 pm
Food game gonna be even better this year, oh Boi……. Chad will bring people back to the games with his shinanigans….
July 26th, 2011 at 11:00 pm
Mason i wasnt down for earlier….but reviewing it now….why not? He is a gamer….been in hella big games and he aint scared…..he can come thru…..our youngins can learn something!
July 26th, 2011 at 11:01 pm
707…..how can food game get better than last time I saw ya?
July 26th, 2011 at 11:02 pm
Yeah really….Chad selling tickets in Oakland no doubt! You dont like it AFC west? Child please
July 26th, 2011 at 11:02 pm
McNabb for 2 6th rd picks.
Damn that’s cheap!
July 26th, 2011 at 11:02 pm
we must sign another guard with gaither to max out our oline. it would allow us to have depth and let some of our young lineman to develope on the bench. i agree with u about goldson bause. gaither will be a raider come 2morrow.we will also have a new guard as well i believe.
July 26th, 2011 at 11:03 pm
Jhill u lying! For real? wow shanny is really messing things up in dc lol……if denver didnt cheat in 90s he would be unemployed
July 26th, 2011 at 11:04 pm
Armond…..i really want a RG….AND dahl would be the guy
July 26th, 2011 at 11:04 pm
Jhill now i about dont care about dline starters lol…..im ppumped man!
July 26th, 2011 at 11:06 pm
Until you see Carlisle’s name float across the screen as being cut, I can’t see us signing another OG.
Carlisle and Loper are your vet OGs.
July 26th, 2011 at 11:07 pm
Get Dahl, and a vet WR the O will definetly lead the west…
July 26th, 2011 at 11:08 pm
Raiders of 2011=Code Black…..NFL lawyers will press Hue Jackson hardcore on the witness stand…..”did you order the code black? did you order the code black? DID YOU ORDER THE CODE BLACK?”……..Hue replies, ” YOU GODDAMN RIGHT I DID!”
July 26th, 2011 at 11:08 pm
Question is where to you put veldheer if we sign Gaither?
July 26th, 2011 at 11:09 pm
Walker, Henderson, and Barnes are all FAs.
Makes sense that we would sign an OT or 2.
Just so happens we made an offer to Gaither instead of those guys.
I don’t see a hole on the depth chart at OG.
July 26th, 2011 at 11:09 pm
Loper? For what? He is a backup….i personally keep saying I dont want Coop back but staff likes him….at 295 lbs in power scheme? Nope!
July 26th, 2011 at 11:10 pm
Veldheer would go to RT, Barksdale moves to OG.
July 26th, 2011 at 11:11 pm
If miller goes maybe that will force us to us more 3 wide formations and get these receivers involved. He should not lead the team in receptions…
July 26th, 2011 at 11:11 pm
Veldheer is an accomplished run blocker…..RT may be his calling. I just want ability to pass block with Gaither and Veldheer
July 26th, 2011 at 11:12 pm
jhill i really believe we will get another guard by friday. whether its dahl or not who knows. they cannot come back with what they had last year. b i feel you mayne. i dont think we will just sit back and watch other teams have all the fun. we might surprise people and get sydney rice or cromartie. id take him over goldson.
July 26th, 2011 at 11:13 pm
707…..i agree….for years we seen gates and gonzo lead their teams in catches….that aint winning a title. 3 wide formations with Chad/Murphy/Ford would be nasty. I’d dare any defense to stack the box
July 26th, 2011 at 11:14 pm
Veldheer is an interesting “problem” to have. Would not surprise me if he wound up at a G position…
If Barks can ball he will start at RT…
July 26th, 2011 at 11:15 pm
I’d love to get Cromartie…..guy is a playmaker with attitude and will tackle like a son of a guun vs the run! Same size as nnamdi…..imo upgrade
July 26th, 2011 at 11:16 pm
i always felt that getting gaither would allow veld to move over to rt. now that he is 325 he can handle the right side better if he is stronger. he wont be up against as many speed rushers and gaither is just a better lt. what i like is gaither can run block as a lt.
July 26th, 2011 at 11:16 pm
Thec u think veldheer at guard? I know they like him outside
July 26th, 2011 at 11:17 pm
Armond,Veldheer plays the left side,Gaither the right .Veldheer should stay at LT-he is the future-leave him there.Who knows how Gaithers back will be after missing last year.
July 26th, 2011 at 11:18 pm
Armeezy….thing is Gaither didnt play last year….that being said if he is better at LT then he must play there. Thats fact
July 26th, 2011 at 11:19 pm
Lefty….true about his back….im sure we will do the physical next thursday to make sure
July 26th, 2011 at 11:20 pm
We will address the o line, no need to worry there.. Gaither will be a raider, Valdeer can do anything we ask of him. @ Bauce, Murphy Ford I’m I got faith in… Murphy better have improved his hands, dropped way to many last two years… Chaz I’m worried about, he better not start talking about soreness in his foot. First sign of injury he is cut imo… Get someone who can just move the chains. Let Ford go deep
July 26th, 2011 at 11:20 pm
if getting lt gaither /fs goldson /cb cromart/ wlb mcintosh/ te boss meant losin aso huff and miller would yall be cool with that? i know i would.
July 26th, 2011 at 11:21 pm
So guys…u think we go after Nick Barnett at WLB or roll dice with Goethel?
July 26th, 2011 at 11:22 pm
if veldheer at lt is whats best fine. i just think gaither is better but you are right about his back. its good that he had the time off so he should be okay hopefully. we dealt with gallery and his injuries.
July 26th, 2011 at 11:22 pm
Come on B,Cromartie an upgrade over Nnamdi. You can’t be serious.Everyone has their favorites and those they don’t like, but that is just wrong.Cromartie may be good, but he sure as hell isn’t an upgrade over Nnamdi.
July 26th, 2011 at 11:23 pm
Cromartie would be welcomed with open arms, mm has a break out year……
July 26th, 2011 at 11:24 pm
i been rough on Huff…but if he stays at a discount im down…but i doubt it….ppl want dude…..Armond I would be 99pct cool with that…cept Goldson. Niners pass D stays sucking
July 26th, 2011 at 11:25 pm

+++++++++++
The good thing about him is he can play any position on the line. IF barks comes in and can handle the RT spot than yes I would be willing to move him inside. However it appears hat he will be playing RT…
Gaither is on record as saying he does not want to play RT. I am sure he has a good re pour with Coach Jackson, so I do not beleive we will be bringing him in hear to play LT…
http://www.baltimorebeatdown.com/2011/6/5/2207296/ravens-gaither-being-targeted-by-raiders
July 26th, 2011 at 11:25 pm
Not an upgrade, but not a huge fall off
July 26th, 2011 at 11:26 pm
Gaither is on record as saying he does not want to play RT. I am sure he has a good re pour with Coach Jackson, so I do not beleive we will be bringing him in hear to play ET…
July 26th, 2011 at 11:26 pm
707….yes im with it bruh! “Cro” is a playmaker…..I love MM34 as my SS
July 26th, 2011 at 11:27 pm
I am sure Gaither will not play RT given thefact he wants to play LT…Time to go…
July 26th, 2011 at 11:27 pm
Well…lefty ok he will give up a few TDs but i guarantee u he makes more plays than nnamdi….he also has played great against top wrs
July 26th, 2011 at 11:29 pm
Peace out Theculator
July 26th, 2011 at 11:30 pm
LTR B…
July 26th, 2011 at 11:31 pm
If it makes the team better with Gaither at LT and Veldheer at RT then that is the way it should be.However,if there are any questions whether Gaithers back can stand up for the whole season, then he should play RT so IF he can’t go,you don’t have to switch everyone around.
July 26th, 2011 at 11:32 pm
Raider defense=playmaker central with some key additions……..MM34 and Branch caused turnovers…Routt made plays and cromartie is a big time playmaker…our front 7 is big mean and nasty…….lets get it
July 26th, 2011 at 11:32 pm
lefty….i can roll with that
July 26th, 2011 at 11:34 pm
Im very interested what Al Saunders has cooked up for gameplanning this season
July 26th, 2011 at 11:35 pm
Im way too excited i cant hide it….im smiling like jack nicholson in Batman
July 26th, 2011 at 11:37 pm
Bauce going to bed….before that….its Raiders 2011…..respect it or check it….cuz u sho aint gonna check it….Bauce outro
July 26th, 2011 at 11:38 pm
b, im not big on goldson but i wont let that stand in the way if it had to be that way.im very interested in what mitch and branch can do. they obviously arent if they want goldson. this is what weve been waitng for. notice how certain people dont show up when there is actual football to talk about?
July 26th, 2011 at 11:42 pm
adrian clayborn 1rst rookie to sign deal
July 26th, 2011 at 11:45 pm
We should start 2-0
July 26th, 2011 at 11:49 pm
We should worry about being 1-0 before we even think about being 2-0.
July 26th, 2011 at 11:49 pm
Does Veldheer have a RT attitude?
Him putting 15#’s on tells me maybe he was told at the end of last year he would be a RT in 2011.
But by playing him at LT in 2010 his value goes up when he hits fa.
His very short arms wouldn’t be as big an issue on the right, not as many speed guys to get his hands on.
LT Gaither
LG ???
C Wiz
RG Campbell
RT Veldheer
Campbell may end up a back up swing T.
July 26th, 2011 at 11:55 pm
I think we will get off to fast start. But all the positions will be determined in training camp. I’m not sure many have their position on lock down so what we’ll see is heavy heavy competition in camp. It’s kicks off Friday and the best man at every position will win………..period
July 27th, 2011 at 12:00 am
im gettin hyped to see what other moves we make. can u believe we will have a preseason game 2 weeks from now?
July 27th, 2011 at 12:00 am
Let’s hope we get off to a great start, but if we don’t start 1-0 we sure won’t be 2-0.As far as who plays where, that is what the coaches get the big bucks to decide.
July 27th, 2011 at 12:04 am
chris francis may be worth a close look from the udfa’s along with etheridge and lamaak.pelc and moore might be players 2.
July 27th, 2011 at 12:09 am
A real #1 WR
Gaither
The rest of our team just needs to get a lol better. Bring in mid level competition at a fair price.
July 27th, 2011 at 12:15 am
i tell u what we may have something in sterling moore. he looks pretty physical and shows good ball skills.
July 27th, 2011 at 12:24 am
Nation,
If Al can not resign ZMiller, do you think the Raiders should make a run at Todd Heap? I am thinking he can get 80% of Zack’s production for 50% of the cost.
July 27th, 2011 at 12:43 am
Miller is a Raider, and should be treated as such! A very nice deal in the 5 year range.
F Olsen, Miller was the best TE in the draft, not a better since.
In order to have “career” Raiders you must show them some love. Miller is OUR guy, now lock him up as such!
July 27th, 2011 at 12:50 am
It has been said a great team “builds” through the draft, well how can you “build” if you can’t resign your own young drafted players? Miller was part of a plan, as was Houston, RoMac, ect
I guess we can be like the A’s and just find, pay, and train players for the other teams to take in FA.
July 27th, 2011 at 12:51 am
If Miller has a Raider bone in his body, he will be back.
July 27th, 2011 at 12:51 am
Guys Todd Heap can’t beat out Meyrs he’s always injured and has lost 3 steps.
The Players we ahve aren’t that bad in fact they’re pretty good just young a few strategically placed vets is all we need.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:00 am
Thanks for the memories Aso, but we need more than just one player, and I am happy the organization has seen this. Gaither, cromartie and Goldson are all great and upgrades at their postion. I just hope that we can add another WR, C, and OLB.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:02 am
You’re right Armond, Sterling looks like he’s a player I’m not sure if injuries were a factor or not but he has skills.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:09 am
Priest, did you see where today Sapp said Miller wasn’t coming back?Of course after watching NFLN this afternoon it is easy to see that they keep Sapp around to make J.Dukes look like a genius.Sapp is a joke as an NFL insider.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:11 am
Can’t wait for the AM news! I truely believe it will be the difference between 8-8 and 10-6!
July 27th, 2011 at 1:13 am
Anyways, goodnight guys.Training camp is upon us and it should be fun.Lots of questions to be answered which tends to make things more interesting.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:14 am
well sais lefty he is a joke and an obvious hater. Nothing new for the NFL. If you know the history you know why the NFL hates Al. No conspiracy needed.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:15 am
Leftty12 Sapp is into shock value and it’s worked for himm he’s on several networks and bashing the raiders takes you places because people love to hate them. Somebody is going to jawjack Sapp he talks way too much trash. And that is exactly what he wants.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:15 am

July 27th, 2011 at 1:17 am
I hate that saying he has “check don’t change” it tells me he was here to get a check not to win and mentor the young players. And it pisses me off!!
July 27th, 2011 at 1:18 am
peace lefty. priest i think he was injured just like pelc and eliades. dude went to laney jc so its a homecoming for him. im really goin to watch him closely. hes a big physical corner that i like. i like the way he plays the ball. could be my underdog candidate.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:20 am
Gaither sounds like trouble. I hope we get him cheap and that he stays healthy…
http://www.raidernationstation.com/raider_huddle
July 27th, 2011 at 1:20 am
preist u should check out francis as well. well im goin to bed as we can break all of this down with other things later on 2day. peace
July 27th, 2011 at 1:21 am
Sapp is the complete opposite of Richard Seymour who always does what it takes to win………We are extremely LUCKY to have him here as we continue to ascend. My hope would be for Seymour to win a SB with the Raiders i think that would be the crown jewel on his career.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:22 am
Today Sapp was knocking Favre because he accused him of coming back ‘just to get a check’.While Favre is a pain in the arse and should just go away,Sapp has no room to say that about anyone due to the way he stole the Raiders money his last couple of years. Now its goodnight.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:25 am
Guys the underdog selections must be complete after the last cuts before the 1st league game. Revisions can be made after the 1st qrtr of the season based on injuries and releases.
So do your homework you have 6 weeks left use them wisely. I’m looking for sponsors so if anyone has any ideas let me know. I want a very nice prize for the winner he will have earned it.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:34 am
I’ll figure out a drop dead date this week and the rules and points system will be on the board by week 2 of the preseason.
I’m presently considering the following for the “Priesthood Commission”;
Edward Teach, Lefty12, CJ legend, and I’m not sure about the others yet.
I’m considering Bauce for the highest post from a militaristic position of some sort. Not sure what to call it but the Raiders needs a General “__________”
If the above gentleman would please take this under consideration and let me know I’d appreciate it.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:36 am
The Raider Nation need a General of some sort…..guys help out please I think this will be big fun.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:49 am
Bauce “Secretary of Defense” of the Realm….
July 27th, 2011 at 4:36 am
Let’s just hope we don’t give Gaither a huge deal, being that the Ravens didn’t offer him a contract and his biggest issue is work ethic and attitude.

I’m for signing Goldson, if that means MM34 is not just handed a starting spot.
Have to earn starting gigs with Hue, and MM34 can’t beat out Branch as a SS, and can’t beat out Hiram or Steve Brown as a FS.

I’d love to get Cromartie…..guy is a playmaker with attitude and will tackle like a son of a guun vs the run!
************************************
LMAO!!!
Cromartie tackle?? He is easily one of the worst tackling DB’s in the NFL.
Didn’t you watch Hard Knocks? The dude was roasted in SD, for being asked to fill the hole in a playoff game, and wimping out time and time again.
July 27th, 2011 at 4:43 am
We will know what position Gaither will play by his contract.
If it’s two years, a couple of million, than you know he is competing for a job and roster spot is not safe. Remember, he missed all of last year with a neck injury.
If he gets 5 years, 15+ million, than he is our LT and Veldheer will be over on the right.
For what it’s worth, the link I posted the other day on O-line stats, had Veldheer grade out as a below average pass-blocker and a top 5 run-blocker for a LT.
July 27th, 2011 at 4:50 am
Corkran stepped up his game with this post. Props!
The last few posts were newbie material. If I have been harsh with criticism, it’s only been constructive criticism. Hopefully Corkran can ramp up to meet the needs of the Nation.
And the semi-pros also have stepped it up! Good stuff.
Let’s get Gaither, don’t care where he plays. He’ll be a good fit.
July 27th, 2011 at 4:54 am

__________
I agree with that assessment. But I also think that big V can learn to be an above avg pass protector. Campbell and V on the same side makes for a nice road grader. But they both need to step it up on pass protection. If Gaither comes in and is healthy, that will solve a lot of issues.
July 27th, 2011 at 4:57 am
from @AdamSchefter:
Filed to ESPN: Titans reached agreement with quarterback Matthew Hasselbeck on a multi-year deal.
July 27th, 2011 at 5:04 am
I think Veldheer could play both sides, but I mentioned his “grades” as a sign that the Raiders might be comfortable throwing him over on the right side.
With Gaither in replace of Walker, and maybe Loper or Campbell in place of Bob Gallery, our “Power-line” of 2011 will be about 50 pounds lighter than our “ZBS” line from last year, lol.
July 27th, 2011 at 5:07 am
Weight does not equal power. Walker was a fat farm candidate and were better off without him.
July 27th, 2011 at 5:08 am
I was not a Langston Walker fan.
Just adding a little food for thought.
July 27th, 2011 at 5:23 am
Neither Gaither or Veldheer have ever played a game at RT, either in college or the pro’s.
Campbell has never played RG, other than the few snaps he got last year.
Wiz hasn’t played center in over 18 months, and only 1 of 4 college seasons.
Barksdale has never played RT, either.
Wow…..Bob Wylie has his plate full for sure.
July 27th, 2011 at 5:29 am
Come on semi-pro’s, rise and grind!!!
July 27th, 2011 at 5:33 am
Ochocinco would be a good signing, plus he is a Glenn Beck fan!!
He should get along well with Veldheer, who is from Hillsdale colllege, which produces right-wing fanatics like USC produces LB’s.
July 27th, 2011 at 5:35 am
So far only team I hear talking Nnamdi is Jets… that would be a monumental mistake imo by the jests… You cant drop 30% of your salary cap on CBs…
July 27th, 2011 at 5:38 am
Ochocinco wont be available until around the 4th week of preseason. IMO he will be in the final cutdowns on the Bungles…
Its hilarious to me that Mike Brown says Palmer committed to the team and he has to live up to that. Like Mike Brown never cut a player under contract before… to me Mike Brown gets the NFLs first C’Mon Man of the year.
July 27th, 2011 at 5:38 am
Hassleback to the Titans.
VY release is imminent.
Get ready to pounce, Al.
You must save the Nation from the panty pissing POS JaJason !
July 27th, 2011 at 5:40 am
Didn’t the Jets pay Cromartie like 6-7 million last year?
If so, signing Nnamdi only adds maybe 8 million or so to their cap number.
Sanchez is already agreeing to adjust his cap number, and as long as their starting RB (Greene) is earning 400K a year, I think they can make it happen.
July 27th, 2011 at 5:46 am
Undrafted Free Agents.
UNC, G Alan Pelc.
Strengths.
- A big, country-strong mauler in the run game. Football young, and can get better. Has the ability to be an emergency center. Immovable object in pass pro and can stone most bull rushers. Room to mature and grow.
Weaknesses
- Average overall athleticism for an NFL guard prospect. Not much of a puller. Struggles in space. Confined to being a straight-ahead drive blocker, and a cog in pass pro. Not suited to a zone blocking scheme, or any scheme where you expect the interior linemen to get out and hit moving targets on the second level. Best used in a power running offense with close splits.
July 27th, 2011 at 5:47 am
Paul Posluszny will sign with the Jaguars.
The move could also signal that Kirk Morrison won’t return to the Jaguars.

Bye Bye Miller, hello Boss ?
Always liked Boss. Boss is tough and a gamer. Good hands, underrated speed.
Think Zack’s a fine player. Somewhat overrated and showed some cracks last season. Concussions, leg injuries and drops could signal the beginning of a decline. Not to mention subpar blocking.
Replacing Miller with Boss works for me.

I would think that Carlisle restructured and will be starting next year.
Are you going to put a rookie C, next to a bunch of youngsters in the interior?
No way, you need a savy vet (Carlisle) who has started over 100 games in the NFL to help the rook along with line calls and the like.
At least for 2011.

Iowa State OL Ben Lamaak.
Overview
2010: Second-Team All-Big 12 selection. Four-year starter, including 20 starts at RT (2007-’08)and every game at LT in 2009 before settling in as the center in 2010.
Strengths
Versatile, smart and tough. Big, thick, strong player who gets movement in the run game and anchors well in pass protection. Quick off the ball and gets to the second level in a hurry. Runs well and and can pull in short areas.
Locks on very well and controls his man with powerful arms and hands. Keeps his feet moving and stays in front of his man. Solid drops in pass protection and is alert to stunts and twists. Mauler who fits best on the interior.
Weaknesses
Not a top athlete. Struggles to re-direct and has problems adjusting in space. Gets bounced some in pass protection when he plays too high, but recovers and keeps his feet.
Projection
Late-round pick or free agent who likely will compete as a backup center/guard, but who’s experience at OT gives him an advantage from a versatility standpoint.
Has another year of eligibility left, and should probably use it. Will be top Big 12 center in 2011 if he returns to school.

Thomas Howard lost his roster spot to Groves & Goethel last year imo.

He didn’t contribute any more than Sam Williams last season, did he?
July 27th, 2011 at 6:00 am
Going to be a sad day around here when the Great Gradkowski has the Bengals back in contention and the Raids are looking for someone, anyone, that can step in for the pathetically bad JaJason.
July 27th, 2011 at 6:00 am
RM99,
Mets huh?
I think we will package Jonathan Sanchez (who could pitch well in that huge park you have) with some second-tier prospects and see if that will get it done. Gary Brown is our big-time prospect (CF) who we don’t want to give up, so if you get him the Gigantes over-extended themselves.
Beltran is everything the Giants need (a thumper, a legit middle-of-the lineup guy, and an elite defensive CF when motivated).
The key is “when motivated”.

Not sure about the hype with Kevin Kolb.
Watched him in the season-opener against GB. Of course GB won the bowl, and had a great defense.
But Kolb looked awful, scared, and lasted all of a half before he was glassy-eyed on the sideline with a concussion.
He came back the end of the year for an ailing Vick, and didn’t look so hot than either.
11 TD’s to 19 turnovers for his career (7 and 10 last year) in that offense, with the same system the whole time??

I’m ecstatic they’re showing interest in some Oline help, but i’d be careful in bringing in a guy with a back injury. Those tend to linger and hard to bounce back from. I have friends that have days they can’t move thier head from side to side or bend down to tie their shoelaces because of back and spine injuries. I know these guys have better dr’s and trainers, but i’d look hard before signing. We need to keep JC upright if were going to have any success this year, so bring in the bulls!

JFB, that was the game that convinced me Kolb sucks.
I’m in a sportsbook concentrating on that game. I know the Eagles aren’t scoring any points with Kolb at QB. I’m thinking I’ve got a solid bet coming up on the Under at halftime.
Sure enough, the book puts up a number I consider way too high. So out comes a few Benjamins on the Under.
2nd half starts, and game is progressing exactly as I thought. Eagles can’t do squat and GB is content to just get outta there with a win. I’m counting my money and congratulating myself for being a genius handicapper. And then Kolb goes down, Vick comes in, and the game flys over.
Any one that trades for Kolb or thinks he’s a franchise QB is an idiot.
Kolb stinks.

Roy Williams at vet minimum or slightly more wouldnt anger me, but I doubt it will happen.
July 27th, 2011 at 6:59 am
Bcz…….90 man rosters and you talking after reg season starts? lol come on man
July 27th, 2011 at 7:00 am
Cromartie at 27 years old would be a great fit for the Raiders, he won’t be asked to do nothing but blanket his man which is the one thing he can do better than most.
Most teams will be turned off by his behavior but we won’t, if the money is available he might be a Raider.
July 27th, 2011 at 7:00 am
Ninerwoman49….why dont u commit suicide?
July 27th, 2011 at 7:01 am
Those 90 man rosters have to be cut to 75 right around the first preseason game.
July 27th, 2011 at 7:02 am
Bcz….would anger me….he isnt a number 1 wr. Detroit he declined and they traded hs ass and then Dallas pays miles austin crazy bread and they drafted dez…..wonder why?
July 27th, 2011 at 7:02 am
Bcz yeah exactly down to 75….and u think JLH wont be around? lol
July 27th, 2011 at 7:03 am
Having a higher chance seeing JLH on some dance show competition than some end zone in 2011.
July 27th, 2011 at 7:03 am
Cromartie is a big physical corner who matches up well against big receivers but has trouble with the shifty waterbug types. I’d take him for our second corner over anyone currently on the roster.
Forget JLH…He’s never going to be more than what we’ve seen the last two years. Ford is another Steve Smith in the making.
Good signing with Gaither if he stays healthy. I agree that Lutui or Dahl should be next.
July 27th, 2011 at 7:03 am
Roy Williams “polishes” alright
July 27th, 2011 at 7:05 am
Bcz yeah exactly down to 75….and u think JLH wont be around? lol

We have the sorriest core of WRs in the NFL and he isnt good enough to make our team.
July 27th, 2011 at 7:05 am
Canuck…..i disagree wit ya on JLH…..ford balled hard so higgins ggot expendable…..its business
July 27th, 2011 at 7:06 am
Hmmmm really i never seen jlh cut as all of yall were saying last summer hahahahahahahaha
July 27th, 2011 at 7:07 am
Yes Lutui or Dahl are RG! Still need a LG….Loper sucks and if Carlisle comes back we know he sucks
July 27th, 2011 at 7:08 am
Exactly Bauce. No need for another small speed receiver. Ford plays big like Smith. No fear. If we sign a wideout it should be someone with size and speed. I’d take Floyd, Chad or Holmes.
July 27th, 2011 at 7:09 am
JLH fell out of favor for Jacoby Ford last year. To me, JLH never recovered from that hit he took from Eric Weddel two years ago in the opener. I believe he will be somewhere, but now, I doubt it will be with the Raiders.
July 27th, 2011 at 7:09 am
Why does ESPN have Jamele Hill on so much. That ugly dyke doesnt know a damn thing and her voice is annoying
July 27th, 2011 at 7:09 am
When Ford was hurt, I didn’t see JLH on the field much.
JLH lost his job to a undrafted FA, smurf-ish white guy from Southern Utah.
July 27th, 2011 at 7:10 am
Actuually Hwnrdr in 09 jlh still took some hits after weddle shot and kept playing……pitt and wash games come to mind
July 27th, 2011 at 7:12 am
Vegas thats a lie…..tell me the games Ford was hurt in……Miller didnt beat JLH out at anytime…..thats another lie…..that’s two lies in one
July 27th, 2011 at 7:12 am
JLH<—–more everything than Nicki Last year
July 27th, 2011 at 7:13 am
Yeah…JLH never did seem to bounce back from that hit…Even his returns weren’t the same. Too bad. Guy looked great early but we’ve all seen that movie before.
July 27th, 2011 at 7:14 am
JLH TEN TIMES the WR nicki miller will ever be
July 27th, 2011 at 7:14 am
Well, gotta jet.

Nicki Miller the blog hero showed his real self vs chiefs
July 27th, 2011 at 7:17 am
Miller didnt beat JLH out at anytime
******************************
Punt returner???
And Ford didn’t play much at all the first month of the season due to preseason injury, neither did JLH.
In fact Yamon Figurs was getting more run week 1 than JLH was, and we cut his azz two weeks later!!
July 27th, 2011 at 7:17 am
Nick Miller is just a bubble player who should be gone by seasons start, especially if we sign a FA WR.
July 27th, 2011 at 7:18 am
Vegas….make sure u stock up on donuts….they need to have all the energy they can muster before they fk with innocent ppl
July 27th, 2011 at 7:19 am
Yamon Figurs only did KR week 1….JLH GOT SNAPS WITH THE OFFENSE….NEXT
July 27th, 2011 at 7:19 am
Yeah you’re right Bauce, but he wasn’t quite the same after that hit. And didn’t Yamon get cut right after week one for fumbling, JFB?
July 27th, 2011 at 7:20 am
LOL…Makes me think of Hunter S. and Acosta at the narc convention in Vegas.
July 27th, 2011 at 7:22 am
Vegas….what did i say last season? in NFL you got only 2 or 3 years as a returner before everyone gets a hold of ur ass. I said last year jlh didnt need to play kr or pr anymore…..thanks
July 27th, 2011 at 7:23 am
Yamon Figurs You Would Suck…..awful player who works at Enterprise Car Rental now

Morning folks. Start of camp, start of season today. Feels good to be a Raider!
July 27th, 2011 at 7:29 am
Adam Caplan of FOX Sports hears the Raiders are still looking for “potential competition” for QB Jason Campbell.
Caplan throws out Trent Edwards and Marc Bulger as possibilities, though we’ve heard multiple times that Bulger wants to stay close to his mid-west home base. Edwards makes some sense as he starred at nearby Stanford. If the Raiders are serious about competition, Vince Young is the best QB available and would benefit from Hue Jackson’s coaching.
July 27th, 2011 at 7:30 am
Nnnnoooooooo….not VY!?!?

Words of wisdom.
July 27th, 2011 at 7:51 am
Why No to VY? Hue might be the man to keep him grounded. His on the field talents cant be denied. Doesn’t Gaither have questional work ethics or character concerns also? Thought I read something about that.
July 27th, 2011 at 7:52 am
If we are targeting VY, we should give up our last round pick to Tenn to avoid him getting nabbed up in Free Agency, no?

I hope Caplan is right.
One thing he’s definitely wrong about is ‘competition’.
JaJason is no competition. VY would easily surplant him.

I speculated on that yesterday. Trading for VY eliminates a bidding war, but it also means inheriting his current contract.
I’d give up a 6th or 7th in a heartbeat anyway. Al can try to renegotiate or do some creative cap accounting after VY is secured.

When you get done wiping Mario Henderson’s and Johnnie Lee’s splooge off your chin, you can begin the JaJason cleanup.

I would not be suprised to see Al bring VY in. I did not like it at first because the boy is crazy but he has the knack to pull out games in the end and you have to think Al loves that.
He is entering his prime and theres not many game winning QB’s out there.
July 27th, 2011 at 8:21 am
It just baffles my mind that a QB guru such as yourself could endorse a QB like VY as your starter. I don’t even have a real issue with the off the field stuff. The guy just can’t pass the ball. Chris Johnson and that defense had a lot to do with his record, imo. In that regard, I guess we have a pretty decent defense and a solid running game, but damn man. I just don’t know about VY.
I can understand Gardowski since he can actaully pass the ball.
I would MUCH rather have Trent Edwards.
July 27th, 2011 at 8:22 am
Condo resigned. good news.
July 27th, 2011 at 8:26 am
Jets are not going to pay Nnamdi more that Revis and blow their cap.
I think that would be a complete slap in the face if he goes to the Jets. We had a chance to trade him to the Jets last year for a 1st rd pick, and Nnamdi said don’t do it he wanted to stay with the Raiders.
If he ends up going there for free (or a 3rd round comp pick),when we could have had a 1st, that would be eff’d up!
July 27th, 2011 at 8:31 am
Remember Mr. Davis last press conference where he mentioned regretting not putting more talent around Randy Moss? He doesn’t want to stunt his young WR’s growth and he doesn’t bring in knuckleheads any longer yet Gaither is considered problematic and if Randy comes at the cheap…..
July 27th, 2011 at 8:32 am

Ninerwoman49…..VY wouldnt supplant a damn thing at qb. JC is much better for our offense. VY turnovers to td ratio is awful. He doesnt go thru progressions ever and he is a total loser. Kerry collins took over for him and went 13-3 so thats lettin you know something right there
July 27th, 2011 at 8:38 am
Nope…according to Schefter, he reached an agreement with the Jets! 5 Years, 50 million, 24 million guarantee…WOW

AdamSchefter: And an unheralded but important move for Oakland: Raiders agreed to terms with long snapper Jon Condo. [via Twitter]
July 27th, 2011 at 8:39 am
Trent Edwards is a better option for what we do offensively than VY can ever dream of
July 27th, 2011 at 8:40 am
JHill, thanks for the guru compliment, although I’m not sure it’s warranted. I did like Andrew Walter a lot.
As far as VY not being able to pass the ball, I think he’s better than most people realize. Yes, his delivery is long and awkward looking. But he’s actually got a surprisingly strong arm and his accuracy is pretty good. He throws a very good deep ball.
Obviously VY has great legs. Cat will make something out of nothing when a play breaks down. Superb impromptu player that will extend drives with his legs. Has great escapability which is something to be considered and valued if the Raiders’ pass protection continues to be an issue.
My problem with VY’s game is when he stays in the pocket too long and doesn’t throw the ball away if nothing’s there. Seen him standing like a statue with defenders draped at his legs, precariously holding the ball in just his passing hand, still looking downfield. A turnover or injury waiting to happen.
This ‘guru’ can’t guarantee VY will ultimately work out if the Raids do indeed pick him up. But I’m certain he’s much better than JaJason.
July 27th, 2011 at 8:40 am
I need a TV at work so I can keep up! I agree we need to bring in another QB but I think JC deserves his shot and doesn’t need to be distracted by a QB war! Let him play his game, it’s the only way to know.
July 27th, 2011 at 8:41 am
Holmes is a dynamic wr….he is worth the cheddar
July 27th, 2011 at 8:41 am
Many are expecting Gaither to just come in and immediately sure up the O/line..but its gonna take him at least 7 or 8 games to even get up to speed and thats only if hes been working-out hard these last two years, obviously AlS and Hugh know exactly what shape hes in,hopefully hes been slapping a few trees like

July 27th, 2011 at 8:44 am
Ninerwoman49….youre certain to fly to Cincy and give head Trashkowski
July 27th, 2011 at 8:45 am
It’s rare that a young, productive QB gets released by his team.
If Young can get his head together he has tremendous upside, and is a classic Al Davis signing.
Sure, it might shake JC’s confidence, but at some point the future of the team has to take precedence over making things right for a single player.
July 27th, 2011 at 8:45 am
47 starts for Vince 42 interceptions lol…..yeah that guy is accurate
July 27th, 2011 at 8:46 am
YA….vince has no future as a legit nfl qb
July 27th, 2011 at 8:47 am
VY’s accuracy isn’t completely good or bad. His biggest problem is consistency. He’ll thread the needle on some big-time throws that only a handful of guys could make. But sometimes he lofts up crazy passes that had no business being thrown – the anti-JC in that sense. He’s a risk-taker.
The thing about risk-takers is that every once in a while you’ll get a Brett Favre, but more times than not you’ll get Jay Cutler.
July 27th, 2011 at 8:48 am

Isn’t that your issue with Glo?
Best thing about VY is his legs. You’re right about that. Don’t want that to be my QBs best asset.
I didn’t want Mike Vick last offseason, so I know I could be wrong. Mike Vick actually turned into a QB who used his passing abilities though. I don’t see that with VY.
I still like Glo and Edwards better than VY.

Not entirely sure about that. He’s young, and he’s won more games than he’s lost with absolutely nothing at WR. That counts for something.
I’m far from sold on the guy, but he’s better than any #2 QB on the roster right now by far.
July 27th, 2011 at 8:52 am

Yeah, I’d take VY over Boeller.
But we need to move past that as Hue obviously like Boeller as a backup.
And isn’t he a former 1st rnd washout, lol?
Glo – Boeller – Frye are more than likely going to be our guys.

July 27th, 2011 at 8:57 am
Brianna, got news for you, girl.
Trashkowski and VY are both more accurate than JaJason.
JaJason has zero accuracy. He’d throw more interceptions than Gannon did against the Bucs, except he doesn’t have the balls to try throwing a pass more than 10 yards, even when it’s there, or when the Raids are trailing and need yards quick.
If you think JaJason is accurate bcz he hasn’t thrown a ton of picks, you don’t know anything.
One of the reasons I don’t overly criticize JaJason for being Captain Checkdown is precisely because he doesn’t have the accuracy to consistently complete intermediate and long passes anyway.
Brianna, get ready for your JaJason cleanup. It’s on the way.
July 27th, 2011 at 8:57 am

This is, in my opinion, the biggest argument against signing him. Not sure he’ll go anywhere where he won’t get a crack at the starting job. And if he doesn’t win it? Whatever team signs him will have to keep him from visibly pouting on the sidelines.
July 27th, 2011 at 8:59 am
Yeah, that’s true.
Quick to point to VYs won loss record as a reason to sign him, but won’t acknowledge Glo’s won loss record as a Raider.
I guess all of us semi pros have our “angles”, lol.
July 27th, 2011 at 9:01 am
Hahahahahaha Trashkowski is 52 pct comp and VY is like 57….so no thats not more accurate than JC you dummy. U moron JC threw ppasses over 10 alot last season. Hue stated in an interview a few weeks ago that he’s going to bring in some camp arms, which is what preseason is all about. He may like Boller, but i hope there’s another option. Edwards would be a good pick up, hope they give him a shot!

July 27th, 2011 at 9:09 am
Yes SF take nnamdi….he belongs over there
July 27th, 2011 at 9:10 am
VY? Only as a back up. Jc is right now a better player than vy, and a better leader and team mate. however i think Vy has something to prove and is desperate to rebuild his image around the league. what better way to do that than to serve as a back up for a year or two, maybe get some field action but more importantly show that you are humble and have matured. He may be available for a 4th rd pick, and if your starter goes down he can step in and a win a couple of games for you.
I would take him in silver and black, he brings value as a number 2 at this point. Vy also doesnt have many options, teams will not be lining up to make him thier starter, not because of his play or ability, but because of the locker room and off field issues. Classic Davis reclamation project.
July 27th, 2011 at 9:11 am
Dam homos
July 27th, 2011 at 9:12 am
Yes please on gaither. This kid was solid as a starter, and his injury has scared some teams along with him being vocal about what position he wants to play. he was essentially replaced in baltimore and he too has some thing to prove. Nfl players that feel the need for redemption, and have natural talent are the best players to have. Go get him Hu jack/ davis.
Welcome to bully ball!!!!!
July 27th, 2011 at 9:13 am
I don’t want Nanmdi there…well, they lost Takeo Spikes to the Chargers, and Clemens was way over paid, but…not there…
July 27th, 2011 at 9:14 am
I’ve said it before on Gaither.
Best case scenario? You have a franchise left tackle.
Worst case scenario? He’s still injured and never plays and never makes a real effort to get healthy.
For the right price? Might be worth the risk.

Your semi-literate posts are barely readable to begin with.
Take a deep breath. Exhale. Clear the splooge off your tonsils.
JaJason is a panty pissing scrub loser.
Don’t let your man crush on him distort the reality of the situation.
Real Raider fans aren’t going to forget your idol’s game against SF. Supposedly, you were there, watched the Raids lose to the team you claim to hate so much, a game in which JaJason played as poorly as JaMoron ever did – but that wasn’t enough for you to get off of JaJason’s pud.
Sooner or later Brianna, the truth will dawn on your ignorant backside.
JaJason sucks.

July 27th, 2011 at 9:20 am
So the market for Nnamdi was supposedly going to be 17-20 mil per year. Now it is being reported to be between 12 and 14 million per. i have a few issues here.
1.) BSPN reporting bias. I heard them saying Nnamdi would take less to play with the jets. they said the jest gm is trying to fit nam, and santonio holmes on the roster but is already over the cap. they said the jets gm can find a way to do it. yet when they mention davis it no way can he resign him, because the raiders are over the cap. so your saying thes jets can find a way to buy the two most expensive players on the market, but davis cant find a way to get one! News flash Davis has always found a way to get the guys he wants. The dismissal of the raiders as an after thought reeked of plain old raider hate!
July 27th, 2011 at 9:23 am
Mistic, glad you like the idea of bringing in VY.
How long you think JaJason retains the starting gig, if it happens ?
July 27th, 2011 at 9:27 am
Here’s the thing. If I’m Nnamdi, EVERY season I hear the same talk about the Raiders moving me around, getting me closer to the ball, trying to use me different ways defensively… and every season, I’m stuck on an island against the #2 WR. I want to prove my worth. I want to play. I don’t want to be avoided all game long. I’m going somewhere that I can be used properly, and where I can get the most out of my skills.
July 27th, 2011 at 9:30 am

I guess that’s true, b/c I’v been wondering how we can go after Gaither and Goldston, sign Moss and Condo, attempt to resign Miller, etc, etc, and we are 15, no 10, no million (per Clayton) over the cap?
July 27th, 2011 at 9:30 am
Could Gaither play guard until he gets back to top form? The boy is large.
July 27th, 2011 at 9:31 am
Well, Mistic, Nnamdi’s going to play somewhere. Then we’ll see how far off BSPN is. This isn’t going to come down to interpretation. He’s going to sign somewhere for some amount.
July 27th, 2011 at 9:31 am
That is true YA…so technically I don’t blame him for leaving, if he does…but what about that talk between him and Big Rich about sticking around to see this thing turn around? Well, that doesn’t matter, but good luck to him where ever he goes!
July 27th, 2011 at 9:31 am
So the market for Nnamdi was supposedly going to be 17-20 mil per year. Now it is being reported to be between 12 and 14 million per. i have a few issues here.
2.) When Nnam was drafted it was called a severe reach. when he struggled they said he was a bust. Only davis was patient, and held on to the hope that he would devleop. Davis surrounded him with hof dbs that helped Nnam become the best in the game. Davis over paid the last two years and made him a star. Nnam will be a super star if he helps the raiders back to the top with some playoff wins or superbowl. In ny he is just another guy. Ny will take a step back they are not fielding the same team as the last two years.
Nnam if your giving discounts give it to the guy that has had faith in yo from the gate. besides we are right on the cusp of building a super bowl window that could last through at least the next 3-4 years. Dont you want to be a part of it?
July 27th, 2011 at 9:32 am
YA,
Nnamdi was doing those things last year until he got hurt. Once he got hurt, I don’t think it was realistic to ask him to do that.

Raiderman,
I’m not a fan of Campbell. But to be fair, the Niner game wasn’t all his fault. I was there, too. And you can ask my brother, a niner fan who was with me, how much I complained about Campbell not having any receivers available in the short field. He had nobody to check down to. Check downs are boring, but they’re part of the game! What else do you have when nobody’s open? The Raiders were using their typical vertical offense that day, that looked an awful lot like the one they died by so many times before Cable or Jackson were even thought of. And all Campbell had available most of the game were receivers running 10 + yard routes that were blanketed. But of course you’re going to ignore this anyway because you’re a dense brick head and you’re set on your ways, and we all know part of the reason you hate “JaJason” is because of his Ja-race.

LOL at this Lombardi reports on Nnamdi.
12 million from the Jets?
A bit more from SF?
The most from the Texans?
It sounds to me like we aren’t even making an offer, lol. I’m sure Al would’ve given him at least the 15 he gave Seymour, and certainly a few more million than he gave Routt.
Daaaaaaammmmmmm Funny, imo.

Would have rather had Nnamdi for $14 mill than Routt for $10. Oh well.

YA, that could have something to do with Nnamdi wanting to try another venue.
I’d really like to see him targeted more often.
Don’t think the results are going to be nearly as good as the team that signs him expects them to be.
Yes, I think Nnamdi is an outstanding cover man. But I don’t think he’s as good as Revis or even CW in his heyday.
I think opposing QB’s that test Nnamdi will have more success than anticipated. He’s no where near as dominant as people would believe, and some of that is based on the fact that he was so rarely tested here.

Mistic, glad you like the idea of bringing in VY.
How long you think JaJason retains the starting gig, if it happens ?
============================================
VY would never supplant JC. He doesnt know our offense, he isnt a polished qb. He must prove that he has matured and wants to be a leader and refine his craft. This team believes in JC so does the entire organization. VY has to prove he can avoid the ints, although he showed major improvement last year before he fell apart.
Again VY could only be a back up in the town, perhaps rebuild his image so he may get a shot to start with another team in the future.
JC is a leader a great team mate and has huge talent. he has already proven he can get it done when his back is to the wall and we are staring at defeat.
Being benched JC showed toughness and competitive fire, reclaimed the job and our offense exploded, to the tune of 500yds for 3 strait weeks, and 26 points a game.
When Vy was benched the had to make sure he wasnt going to commit suicide.

like all Raider QBs, Campbell is saddled with archaic schemes and lousy players. I don’t like Campbell because I feel his release is slow. You guys know I’m WCO guy, liked Gruden and Gannon, so you know I’m looking for Gannon in every QB we have. Is that so crazy, considering he’s the last QB we won consistently with? Went to a Super Bowl with? And would have won a Super Bowl with if our coach wasn’t on the wrong sideline? But Campbell is being sabotaged, too. Like I said, the worst grade any QB should ever get in Oakland is an “INC” because they’re all sabotaged by Al’s archaic system and lousy players.

Dont beleive the hype. Davis is just taking a look to see what the market will be. Maybe when we thought it was 17 mil, Davis might have opted out of making a play, and i stress might of opted out. But at 12-14 mil, im sure Davis is putting together a package for him now and ready to overpay again. Huge signing bonus with the rest of the money spread out over a long time.
If Nnam leaves it wont have anything to do with money.
By the way is there any bigger lie in football than the so called salary cap? Please every year we are way over the cap and cant afford our own guys. yet Davis not only signs his guys but brings in other guys and pays them huge money as well.
Salary cap is like sasquatch, it could exist but at this point there is no tangible evidence.

If Bulger is cool being a #2 (like he was in Baltimore last season) and wants to stay in the Midwest … why not just sign with the Chiefs or Rams to back up Cassel/Bradford?
He’d be a clear upgrade over guys like Palko & Stanzi in KC or Feeley & Lewis in STL!
July 27th, 2011 at 10:05 am
JHill, you are spot on about Gruden running the type of offensive that was most concucive to Gannon’s success.
Dink and dunk criticism is valid, but what the heck was Gruden supposed to run with a QB that had a peashooter ?
For the record, I think Gannon was still a fine QB, noodle arm and all. He was a fabulous field general. And he was also a very good scrambler with a knack for picking up first downs with his legs by an inch or two in crucial situations at the beginning of his Raider years.
No JaJason ’slides’ from JaGannon. Isn’t that how he got his neck broken ?
July 27th, 2011 at 10:06 am
