By Steve Corkran

Here is a list of the 14 undrafted free agents who signed with the Raiders at some point within the past two days:
Offensive linemen Alan Pelc (North Carolina), Lou Eliades (Penn State) and Ben Lamaak (Iowa State), safety Zac Etheridge (Auburn), linebackers Bani Gbadyu (Penn State) and Chris Francis (Baylor), quarterback/wide receiver Eddie McGee (Illinois), wide receivers Derrick Jones (California, Pa.) and Steven Goulet (Ohio), defensive end Mason Brodine (Nebraska-Kearney), defensive tackle Jamie Cumbie (Clemson), fullback James McCluskey (Boston College), quarterback Jordan La Secla (San Jose State) and cornerback Sterling Moore (Southern Methodist).
Raiders coach Hue Jackson confirmed that 14 undrafted free agents signed. The Raiders have not released the names of any of their signings yet.

So how many of these guys end up on the roster and/or practice squad.
I say 3.
Pelc, Etheridge and McGee all on practice squad.

The only QB possibly more fragile & weak armed than Gradkowski is Charlie Frye. Glad they brought in a camp arm.

Cincy’s QB play the last few years has been awful!!!
Any WR would be happy that the team brought in a different vet and a talented rookie.
Carson Palmer has been garbage for about 4 years running.
================================
its about to get a lot worse lol. How long before ochostinko punches scabs in the face after a mind numbing pick. Marvin lewis wont make it through the first game of the year with scabs at qb
July 27th, 2011 at 4:20 pm
“Say that one more time,” Jackson said, when a TV reporter asked who the starting quarterback is going to be. ”You did not ask me that question. He did not ask that question out here today. Does anybody no know who the starting quarterback is of the Raiders? Are you kidding me? Doesn’t he wear No. 8? His name is Jason Campbell. He is the starting quarterback of the Raiders. Period! Any other questions?” HU JACK CITY!!!!!!!!

So checking out all the Raider players on twitter.
DVD’s brother is on twitter, named blow305, who talks about smoking weed all-day and his picture says city of homicide.
DVD tweeted he can’t wait for his brother to get to Cali.

One thing that I have noticed is there is no news about Miller going anywhere else.
I have the feeling the Raiders will be making a ton of announcements on Friday with releasing players, restructuring contracts, and all of their signings.
July 27th, 2011 at 4:25 pm
Cromartie & routt wouldnt be bad, not as good as area 21 & routt, but not bad. Just dont overpay this cat, routt and cromartie are pi machines, we will lead the nfl in db penalty yardage.

And DVD just tweeted he is officially a Raider.
Welcome aboard, young man, stay close to coach Woodson and away from your gang-banging brother!!!

I would rather have Cromartie, Gathier and Edwards for what the Raiders would pay Nnamdi.

Cromartie, Gathier and Edwards all come with backage.
I’m OK with all of them, as long as we don’t overspend.
It’s not like we have this one year window to win it all, we can be patient and build a great young nucleus that we have already started to do.
Don’t just panic and sign up Braylon Edwards for 4 years 35 million because we need a WR, and he is available.
We sign Braylon Edwards in 2011, guess what? We still probably need another WR in 2012.
Don’t panic Al!!! STay the course

Didnt AL say in his last press conference that he would rather spend money on 3 good players then spend all the money on just 1 player. So AL if you sign these 2 it leaves us open for 1 more player… Who’s it gonna be? I really dont think Edwards will be coming here…. I know ppl are gonna think Im crazy but I wanna see Brad Smith. Not sold on Cromartie either. At best, he’s a perfect fit for the Raider secondary. At worst, he’s a temporary upgrade over Chris Johnson, and a more than adequate stopgap until Chekwa or DVD are ready to step up. Also insurance in case Routt’s 2010 season was a fluke.

The bay is on fire right now, im in football heaven. Two of my favorite players in college are now pros and destroying the nfl.
Jason Campbell, and Trot Smith own the nfl of the last two weeks. These guys are getting it done with the long ball, coming from behind to win! The wave of the NFL future is here!!
They look, like they looked in college, and we here in the bay are in for a treat.
They are not running qb’s, but they are terrific scramblers, that can make huge plays from the pocket or on the move. They both can deliver the ball with deadly accuracy.
Both were big time winners in college, and leaders on their teams. both have ascended to a leadership position for their new teams. Traded and waived both were cast offs that have battled back to dazzle the opponents with last second comic book heroics.
Smith is a little more flashy, and a real in your face leader, fiery and in your face intensity. This makes him a perfect extension for singletary.
Campbell is more stoic and cerebral, more of a calculated risk minimizing style, that can uncork the rocket shot when he needs it.

I’ve said numerous times the Raiders are better off directing their money at other players. You’re right, he’s not under contract. He’s not going to be back with the Raiders. Your pissing and moaning is completely unnecessary and just makes you look like a child.
Nnamdi is as good a CB as you’ll find in the NFL. But he doesn’t help the Raiders win games, and that’s why he’s not going to be back.

Oakland’s Nnamdi Asomugha is considered the top player available among this year’s free agents, and Rex Ryan surely would love to add another dominant player to his secondary. The Jets, who reached an agreement with wide receiver Santonio Holmes early Wednesday, are also in serious negotiations with Asomugha.
“He’s the best cornerback in the league,” said Revis, who has often been labeled as such by others around the league. “Me and him as a tandem would be unbelievable. It would be awesome.
“I would love to have him as a teammate.”

For the record I like Cromartie. I think he is a great talent who can get better. It would be an awesome pickup.
July 27th, 2011 at 5:36 pm
I really dont expect the teams I dont like to win, like 9ers and denver
****************************************
THEY BOTH WILL SUCK THIS YEAR
July 27th, 2011 at 5:36 pm
1. Nnamdi Asomugha (Oakland Raiders)
I think anyone paying close enough attention understands that it’s Revis and Asomugha in the top two spots, but how they’re arranged comes down to a lot of personal preference.
But for me, Asomugha is the hands-down favorite when making a list like this. He has shown that he’s capable of being the interception guy when he came down with eight of them back in 2006, but it’s difficult to rack up those kinds of numbers when quarterbacks refuse to throw the ball his way.
Revis, even for all the hype surrounding him last season, still wasn’t feared to the point offensive coordinators would simply ignore his entire half of the field. With Asomugha, teams have been doing it for the past three seasons. The type of respect opposing teams show him is enough to put him at the top of the rest.
July 27th, 2011 at 5:36 pm
Nnam to the Texans would be stupid for Nnam. B’More or Jets insofar as teams that have a chance is the place to go; but seriously, if he wants to win he has to take a heavy look at the talent the Raiders are amassing.

“Raider” why are you a Raider Fan? i’m asking you Seriously
——
He’s not. End of story. Would any Raider fan say the things he does about the team? It’s not constructive criticism or “I hate Al Davis cuz he’s ruining my favorite team”. No, it’s outright hatred from either a Bronco Chief or Charger fan. We don’t know for sure cuz he’s never had the stones to man up and announce who his loyalities are with.
I recall the last game of the year when he came on here during the Chief game and told us he was watching reruns on tv instead of the game and criticised everyone for watching an “exhibition game”. Ok first off, this joker doesn’t even watch Raider games so how can he comment on the team? Second, I may be old school, but I don’t see how any Raider fan refuses to watch a game in which the Raiders are thumping Kansas City; I don;t care where they are in the standings and the game was not insignificant in that it ended 7 years of losing seasons and again…they were playing the CHIEFS and sppanking them big time.

I said it from the beginning, not only would Nnamdi not take a home-town discount, but it will cost Al more to keep Nnamdi than any other team.
You know the saying “if we even, I’m leaving”?
That’s Nnamdi’s contract talks with the Raiders. If it’s equal money, he is gone.
July 27th, 2011 at 5:57 pm

I have to disagree with this. Revis doesnt lock one side of the field. He moves with the the opponents best receiver, and because of his hold out he missed significant practice time, he also played at less than 100% for a good portion of last year. He also gets the pleasure of playing Brady twice a year, who isnt going to ignore anyone, and frankly doesnt need to. Lets be honest, revis had 56 passes his way to Nnamdis 39, thats 1 more target a game. Teams are also forced to pass more against the jets who have a much better run d than us.
Revis is a bigger more physical CB, and can shutdown ANY reciever in the game, Nnamdi is more cerebral, still a physical press guy, and can shutdown ANY receiver in the game. If I had to choose between the 2 I would flip a coin and be ecstatic with either.
July 27th, 2011 at 6:00 pm
Talks of Nnamdi going to the Niners just might make Al open his checkbook. Nnamdi’s agent is smart. Smarter than Al, that’s for sure. Of course, that’s not hard to be.

July 27th, 2011 at 6:01 pm
That’s Nnamdi’s contract talks with the Raiders. If it’s equal money, he is gone.
***
I disagree with this… only slightly. I think the ONLY reason Nnamdi isnt a done deal to Jets right now is he is giving Al a chance. My opinion. I really dont think money matters that much to the guy. It may be blind optimism, but I think there is a shred of hope (for everyone not named Bauce)
July 27th, 2011 at 6:02 pm
If we sign jonathan joesph i will not miss nnamdi one bit cause i wouldnt have to worry about the rooks getting torched every game. And i dont see the big deal with the cheifs signing brestan. My girlfriend’s brother calling me texting me bragging they got him big f-cking deal it wont mean sh:t when oakland comes and destroy them queefs

Breaston going to KC all but guarantees that Cromatie will be signed. Dude is a physical freak, tall, long, and fast like Al wants his corners. He can cover every receiver spot and knows what to do with the ball in his hands. Routt-Cromartie-Mcfadden is a very nice tandem
July 27th, 2011 at 6:06 pm
I think Nnandi would stay if asked, properly.
This is his home, and his community. But, they already gave Routt 10 million, per.

Breaston was a product of the system he was in. Great qb in Warner and Fitz and Boldin freed him up a ton. He is injury prone, and I bet he ends up behind Baldwin on the depth chart.

July 27th, 2011 at 6:12 pm
KK wrong again. Stop hating
Nnamdi wanted out two years ago and Al managed to get him signed.
Only reason he is leaving is because of some inane clauses that voided the two year contract.
July 27th, 2011 at 6:14 pm
I’m not sure what the rules are about cutting Routt….
but if possible, and if Nnamdi is agreeable, sign Nnamdi, cut Routt, and get Joseph….
Nnamdi and Joseph would be the top CB tandem in the league…The second coming of Mike Haynes and Lester Hayes. Who the opposing QB gonna throw it towards? Pick your poison!

July 27th, 2011 at 6:23 pm
lol. How come every time someone’s available, so many people here say, “get him, Al!!”? Can’t we pass on anyone? Do the Raiders not have any discretion? Because I can’t help but to think that this is the Raiders’ problem. They think just like the fans. Some semi-recognizable name pops up on the wire, and Al just snatches him right up, taking no account as to why his previous team got rid of him.

July 27th, 2011 at 6:28 pm
Nnamdi is def a interesting story, because ive followed his careers as well as I am close to his family. He is not a money Hungry player that only wants top dollar, and He is not one to just join a team that is at the cusp of winning a championship. So I dont know where he’ll end up. But I hope AL has a plan, cause Dont trust Chris Johnson, or the bunch of rookie corners he drafted, esp since the last rookie corner he drafted that excelled, was ….nnamdi in 2002
July 27th, 2011 at 6:28 pm
Lefty,
when our team has been a joke for 8 years then criticism is due and it does not make me less of fan because I think certain players, coaches, and even Al himself are screwing up a once proud franchise. If you think we are on the right track than you are complete moron. You need to quit dreaming to sniff Al’s dirty jump suit and accept that the culture of the franchise needs to change. I would love to see us win 9 games, but I see the same mistakes being made year after year. Sorry some of us are fans who are not afraid to hold players, coaches, and Al accountable.
July 27th, 2011 at 6:28 pm
I don’t think we need another 5-9 WR. We need someone to fill Chaz’s role.

Say that one more time,” Jackson said, when a TV reporter asked who the starting quarterback is going to be. ”You did not ask me that question. He did not ask that question out here today. Does anybody no know who the starting quarterback is of the Raiders? Are you kidding me? Doesn’t he wear No. 8? His name is Jason Campbell. He is the starting quarterback of the Raiders. Period!

20 million guaranteed money to Stanford Routt, after 1 good year. Crazy.
July 27th, 2011 at 6:57 pm
Too early to say Routts deal is crazy. If he performs at the same level throughout the contract that he did last year then he is worth the money.
July 27th, 2011 at 7:02 pm
Yea I’ll Defintley keep them hydrated but there defintley gonna be workin harder then most kids just like I did. Conditioning is key. Hell Week is coming up there gonna hate wind sprints and snake sprints by the end of the week. You just gotta watch it with big kids because when they get tired they get sloppy and as a Linemen your feet are ur most important body part..
July 27th, 2011 at 7:04 pm
Routt went from 3 million to 10 million in a contract year. I don’t see any reason to guarantee the 20 million. We’ll see.
July 27th, 2011 at 7:04 pm
I say Routt has a solid season if for no other reason than his opposite may be a rook.

IMO, Routt is not even close to earning that kind of money. He’s not that good folks.
Bigger problem tho is the QB situation. Raiders are fked. Soup, Boller, Frye. Hopefully AD has a plan.

July 27th, 2011 at 8:04 pm
For example, Jason LaCanfora of NFL Network tweeted last July 30 that Berry’s six-year, $60 million deal with $34 million guaranteed makes him the “highest paid safety in NFL history.” Today, LaCanfora described Weddle’s $19 million as “record guarantees . . . for a safety.”
That’s not intended to be a slap at Jason. When he reported the Berry numbers, he relied on the accuracy of what the source told him. And when Jason reported the Weddle numbers, he did the same thing.
