By Steve Corkran

Just received this link from the Raiders and wanted to make sure you got a chance to check it out in advance of its widespread release. Make sure you don’t “skip the intro.”

Go Raiders-every last one of them!

  2. RAIDER Says:

The players don’t have to apologize to me about anything. The owners? Well, at this point, it wouldn’t do any good if they did.

  3. Hagar the Horrible Says:

lost Asomugha, but I understand the money was a lot to pay, wish Al would have been able to spring for it. Now, for sure, we need to sign Zack Miller. If we don’t, it’s going to feel like a knife in the back.
    JUST DO IT, AL, BABY!

  4. SilverNutSack Says:

Lets cut the crap and get to football. In the time they took to produce this nonsense, I’d rather they had dropped and reeled off 100 push-ups. They can thank me by blasting the insufferable Chiefs, replete with a good dose of finger twisting, eye gouging, cleat digging nastiness beneath the pileups.

  5. Hagar the Horrible Says:

Heywood-Bey better show up this year. He’s getting paid but he’s not contributing. Forget the decoy garbage they feed us. We don’t need a decoy, we need someone making plays that match the bucks they’re earning.

  6. Hagar the Horrible Says:

Same goes for Chaz Schilens. I like the dude, has some great talent catching the ball, even in traffic and he’s not afraid to take the hit. But, dude, you need to stay healthy. We need you on the field, big time, especially with DHB not producing.

  7. Hagar the Horrible Says:

Nice take Silver, especially if directed toward the Chargers, as they’re number one on my hate list. Then the “tuck-rule,” followed by Tom Brady and their cheating head coach, Bili-cheater, who likes to steal signals with hidden cameras.

  8. KoolKell Says:

Push come to shove, I’d sign Bush over Miller.

  9. Hagar the Horrible Says:

Good nite Raiders fans, it appears everyone is off in la la land, dreaming of our first game.

  10. KoolKell Says:

Listening to the guys today, and watching the final game against the Chargers tonite, Malcolm Floyd sounds very good.

  11. The Realist Dirty Raccoon Says:

Al Davis is allways a step ahead of the NFL, as is Amy Trask!

  12. KoolKell Says:

Vince Young & Nnamdi to the Eagles tonite.

  13. The Realist Dirty Raccoon Says:

    Evenin KK

  14. Hagar the Horrible Says:

Love Bush, he brings a totally different package to the game when he’s in and that compliments the MAC. But we need a strong tight end presence in the game to have a deadly offense and Zack Miller brings it. The kid has got it and has proved it…just sign them both.

  15. The Realist Dirty Raccoon Says:

Floyd lives here in Sac, as does his big bro. MF would love to play for the Raiders, but his agent is holding out for the most guaranteed money. I’m not sure hom much guaranteed cash he is worth. He is very good, and would help us mundo in a few areas, but I don’t know if Al and Hue feel the same.

Food fir thought, older Floyd says he would have taken lees money to play for the Raiders, and it was close a couple of times, nut never worked out. Older Malcom is about 6′ and 200#’s says he ran a 4.40 coming out of college.

And those who argue, he doesnt have the stats or make the game changing plays…you are indirectly the reason why he left, He is now going to a team that blitz and run exotic def schemes and have a descent CB beside him…..Nnamdi will now prove you all wrong, and i hope he does, because he wasent used here correctly

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    DaTruth speaks the truth.

  17. ENGLANDRAIDER Says:

When Cable wasn’t resigned, a pizzed Lechler said that probably some players would leave because of it and when asked who,he named Gallery, Asomugh, Zach Miller, and Bush.
Since Bush has a first and third tender Lechler might be right on three out of the four.

    I’m still hoping Miller stays.

  18. raiderzmaverick Says:

I don’t believe we lost Nnamdi and then paid Routt basically the same amount of money. $20 mil guaranteed for 3 years compared to 25 mil. 11.5 mil a year compared to 12 mil.
Yet, I think Nnamdi is CLEARLY the better player. Just look at our first pratice where Routt already got burned 2X for touchdowns out of the three big plays that were mentioned.

  19. ENGLANDRAIDER Says:

Just wish all this crap would get resolved fast.

  20. marios Says:

I don’t recognize half of those guys who ar they Undrafted FAs?

  21. Pretty Rick Says:

It’s nice to see that camp has started and the Raiders still haven’t made any FA moves.
Last one to the dinner table don’t eat.

  22. Violent Hands Says:

To be clear, Gaither wouldn’t be here if they didn’t agree to terms

  23. TerrapinRaider Says:

but he has to pass the med check …you almost have to belive that is a foregone conclusion but can’t count your chickens until the eggs hatch.

Gaither would be a huge pickup for this offense.

  24. TerrapinRaider Says:

Adding Gaither in my mind translates to an improved passing attack. The running game should still be there and maybe improved w/ an even more improved DMC; but the passing game just gained some valueble seconds. Running those deep routes as we will, that is huge!

  25. A.B. Paine III Says:

Jerry’s tweets are ten times more informative than Corkram’s posts.

  26. TerrapinRaider Says:

Anyone knows the training camp schedule?

  27. A.B. Paine III Says:

When Cable wasn’t resigned, a pizzed Lechler said that probably some players would leave because of it and when asked who,he named Gallery, Asomugh, Zach Miller, and Bush.
Since Bush has a first and third tender Lechler might be right on three out of the four.

    ——————————-
Lechler just said that because they were all going to be free agents. He was just venting. It doesn’t mean anything.

  28. Pretty Rick Says:

Gaither being there without signing anything is like having a wallet with no money in it,,, it doesn’t make sense. Don’t get me wrong,, I’ll be glad if and when he signs but everyday that passes without a done deal is a day wasted. The real issue is what’s the holdup with Miller and Bush? Or are they waiting for the Eagles to sign them too?

  29. Violent Hands Says:

    Hitting today

  30. TerrapinRaider Says:

You’re right. Jerry is good. His tweets are good and his articles are good. He can be a prick at times vis-a-vis the Raiders but he writes in an informative and interesting angle.

Put the Gaither deal in perspective …Gaither has been out for a long time. I’m not so sure he starts day 1 at LT. He may need to work himself back into the lineup. Maybe by mid-season they put him in at LT and switch Veldheer to RT.

  31. Violent Hands Says:

Gaither missed six games the end of 09 missed whole of year 10,needs to be checked over properly thats all

  32. TerrapinRaider Says:

5 games in 09 from what ive read

  33. raiderzmaverick Says:

Ha! You just see the #1 draft pick signed for 22 million? Don’t I wish that rookie cap was in place before we wasted so much money on JaMarcus and DHB!

  34. raiderzmaverick Says:

I’m really worried about Routt. I think he’s greatly overrated and overpaid. I think CJ is the better DB out of the two and Nnamdi was a huge leap above either of them.
I don’t get why we so overpaid for Routt if we could’ve kept Nnamdi for basically the same money (what 1 million a year more?)

  35. A.B. Paine III Says:

It seems that Asante Samuel is on the trading block now.

  36. A.B. Paine III Says:

Raiderzmaverick, I think Routt got that money because Al either new Nnamdi wasn’t coming back or that he couldn’t afford to keep him.

  37. raiderzmaverick Says:

“he allowed only 52 completions and one touchdown the past three seasons.” (Nnamdi)

  38. A.B. Paine III Says:

Raiders should trade Lechler, DHB, and a draft pick for Asante Samuel.

  39. raiderzmaverick Says:

“Stanford Routt and Chris Johnson stood out for different reasons. Johnson looked solid in his new/old starting role. Routt was getting burnt both days and Murphy was the culprit often times. Today Routt was called for pass interference on Murphy.”

  40. raiderzmaverick Says:

I don’t think A. Samuel is a good fit. Don’t have much to back that with though.

  41. Just Fire Baby Says:

That was actually kind of cool, the whole thank you thing.

  42. TerrapinRaider Says:

Asante Samuel is not a man-to-man DB. Not a good fit at all.

  43. Pretty Rick Says:

Nnamdi got tired of the circus in Oakland and left. HueJax is taking us outta the circus atmosphere but we’re not out of the tents yet,, and while the ESPN clowns assumed he was going to the Jets,, they’re nothing but the Eastcoast Raiders who happens to be winning games right now. We can hate on Nnamdi all we want but Nnamdi is a smart man, and he wasn’t gona leave one circus to go to another one. Yeah he wouldve made a lil more in NY but he went to a contending team and still got paid,, minus the extra bull sh,t in the side. The Patriots continue to make those power moves, but it now appears that they have company with the Eagles, we should take notes.

  44. Just Fire Baby Says:

From the sounds of Jerry’s tweets, Murphy is looking good catching the ball, and he is about the only one.

  45. raiderzmaverick Says:

Nnamdi must’ve said to Al politely that he was going to look to put his services elsewhere. Otherwise he was asking for 18mil a year or something. Either way I think we should’ve waited to bear out the market value of both him and Routt and I think we could’ve signed him, or at least gotten Routt at a hallova lot less $$$.

  46. Pretty Rick Says:

Plaxico would look real good in a Raiders uni. He can have Glass Schilens spot.

  47. raiderzmaverick Says:

We drafted 4 or 5 CBs in the past 2 drafts. I think most of them or all of them were high on “potential” (meaning fast) but also required quite a bit of developmental work. That’s not good on the shortened time we have to get them ready.
Do you remember last year putting in our rookie DB for a short bit and how bad they got burned?

  48. TerrapinRaider Says:

Nnam made the decision because he wanted to win a SB and his window is closing. Simple.

The Raiders have more holes to fill vs the Eagles but are on the rise. If last year was any indication, the Raiders will own this division for years going forward. Which means the Raiders are playoff bound. So at the end of the day both teams will be in the playoffs with a chance at the SB but you would give the Eagles an edge in probability of winning RIGHT NOW.

  49. Just Fire Baby Says:

Do you remember last year putting in our rookie DB for a short bit and how bad they got burned?

    **********************

I think Ware held up a little better than McFadden, but they both struggled to cover anybody.

    Rookie-pains hopefully.

  50. A.B. Paine III Says:

I will be much more disappointed if the Raiders lose Zach Miller. Nnamdi was inevitable.

  51. SnB Production Says:

I hope Al will stop that stupid defensive philosophy of keeping the best CB on the team on one side of the field every play.

What good is an “elite” cornerback if he doesn’t line up against the opponents #1 receiver?

So I guess Chris Johnson or one of the rookies will be getting “thrown at” all the time.

  52. SnB Production Says:

Losing Miller will FORCE the receivers to step their game up.

The backup TEs on the roster are not going to be significant contributors

  53. A.B. Paine III Says:

Stanford Routte has a pretty slick website:

    http://sroutt26.com

  54. Pretty Rick Says:

I think the Kameron Wimbley negotiations is what’s holding up other signings from happening with the cap space,, but these GMs are like vultures flying over those FAs waiting to snag one up. I think if we get Wimbley sign then they’ll start working on Miller and Bush,,,I’m just afraid that they’ll be gone by then.

  55. SnB Production Says:

The Raiders can win with the roster as is…including losing Miller…if..and only if…those receivers start playing like NFL caliber starters

  56. SnB Production Says:

DHB and Bruce Campbell better get “healthy” Those are two players that can’t afford to be missing reps.

I hope its not a one or 2 week thing here because their “potential” will get them reps on Sunday

  57. A.B. Paine III Says:

Bush isn’t going anywhere. He is a restricted free agent.

  58. armond Says:

snb is right. our wrs have to step up. if they do we will win. there are several teams that arent that active in FA yet. this is the beginning not the end of it. more players will be released over the next week making the market more interesting. i would take waters over carlisle at rg. a lot of teams being more responsible than normal.its hard but we have to be patient and we also need to let our young guys play.

  59. Just Fire Baby Says:

    Kelly Gregg to the Chiefs.

That’s not good news. He has been the NT in Baltimore for almost 10 years running, and is damn good.

  60. SnB Production Says:

Receivers need to step up and the “new” secondary needs to step up.

Those two units cannot be weaknesses this year…although they will struggle at times.

  61. TerrapinRaider Says:

Ngata has been the Ravens starting NT for years

    —————————-

I thought the same thing. They are carrying up to 90 guys right now, so not surprising that we wouldn’t know a lot of those faces.

  63. Pretty Rick Says:

The Bleacher Report still talking about teams dropping out of the Nnamdi sweepsteaks. Did they not get the news over there?

  64. RaidingTexas Says:

Bleacher Report sucks. We put that matter to rest yesterday. lol

  65. armond Says:

i think we may have something in sterling moore from smu. watch out for him pelc and the lb francis as udfa’s. our lb’s need to step up more than anyoneon defense. we cant afford 2 tackles from groves and wimbley being invisible for weeks.

  66. Plunketthead Says:

Nnamdis mom lives in the Boston area where she works her charity out of. Philly is real close and I bet that played a big part.

I think the acting thing was just to see if the Jets or someone would give him an offer to big to refuse.

The biggest deal is all the endorsements and plublicity he will get in Philly with Vick compared to Oakland with Al. That will help his acting carrer more then anything.

  67. YoungAmerican Says:

    Cards get Richard Marshall.

If the Raiders are looking for CB help, they need to grab Cromartie soon.

  68. YoungAmerican Says:

At this point, considering the uncertainty with Miller, I’d rather the Raiders get a receiver and another vet offensive lineman than CB help.

  69. Just Fire Baby Says:

Ngata has been the Ravens starting NT for years

    ******************************

    Wrong.

Gregg has started over 110 games AT NT, for the Ravens.

    http://www.nfl.com/player/kellygregg/2500916/profile

  70. Just Fire Baby Says:

The Ravens start Ngata at DE, Gregg at NT, and of course slide in Ngata in the middle at times.

But Gregg has manned the 3-4 NT spot for the Ravens since 2002, hence his 100+ GAMES STARTED on his resume.

Bush is not a FB man, McClain is……you guys just don’t understand what kind of player Bush is. Bush is a very rare back, very very rare. If DMC were not here he would be a perrenial all-pro. He beat out DMC in preseason last year and got hurt or he rushes for over a grand and maybe leads the league in TD’s.

    ——————————–

Lets hope our very rare and very special owner knows how to keep this potential very rare 1000+ yard rusher and league leader in TDs’. Sounds like our unique owner would be nuts and then some not to retain him.

i dont think we will go after another cb right now. we have to get more linemen. the only wr i would want right now is floyd. if miller falls thru then maybe kevin boss is an option. id like to see us get a good wlb.

    ————–

Raiders like their options at WLB, although Lawson would make them instantly better on that side.

I think the only CB they’d be in the market for is Cro, because of his size and speed and man coverage skills. If they don’t get him, I don’t think they’ll be too concerned.

Still want to see Jarrad Page as competition at FS, but I also feel like the Raiders are happy with Branch and Brown. But they’ve also allegedly been sniffing around Dashon Goldson, so who knows?

I’d like to see OG Evan Mathis or OG Reggie Wells brought in, and OT Langston Walker re-signed.

  84. A.B. Paine III Says:

I know this guy who cleans toilets at the Raider Image. He tells me that he overheard Herrera talking on his cell phone while taking a dump. I was a huge fan of Aso, but i can remember reading an article about Aso and Big Rich Seymour attending a Giants playoff game in frisco.

That article stated that they were talking about long term goals and getting the franchise back to the bowl. At the time it impressed and excited me.

Now i see that it was just talk on Aso’s part. Another dude looking for the payday! Nevermind that he’s been catered too, that he’s been developed, that he has been a huge part of getting the team turned around…look at his new contract, he was overpaid last season! took the money and ran!

Some people do have inside info YA, there are contacts who just leak it out. I just heard last nite Bush may or may not be back. What I’d like to know on this tho, is where is Al in all of this. Isn’t he the owner? If the Raiders ‘really’ wanted Bush, they’d of locked him in be now…..

Another thing my inside source said, look for Al to do a blockbuster league rattling over the top signing real soon. It’ll make the Aso/Philly deal look like dime store change.

  89. Teflon30 Says:

Nnmandi had 8 interceptions in 2006, and 4 interceptions over the the past four seasons. I’m sorry but the guy doesnt make enough plays to be considered an elite cornerback. The dude was all hype, good dude, but all hype. Let’s not forget even last year he got burned by Fitzgerald in Arizona for the deciding touchdown; he gave up over 200yds receiving to Nanee on the Chargers & he can’t tackle. I’ll take my chances with the new guys, who actually want to be here. GO RAIDERS !!!

  90. SOUL PATROL Says:

  93. A.B. Paine III Says:

Not only that, but the Raiders promised to move him around and use him in different ways. They’ve been making that promise for several seasons. I’m sure he felt like his talents were being wasted stuck on an island, covering the #2 WR. No blitzing. No packages where he’s close to the LOS like they did with Woodson. He only shadowed the #1 once last season. If I were him, I’d be bored out of my mind playing in Oakland. What’s the use in paying the best CB in the league $15 mill+ when you’re not going to utilize his talents?

12 INTs in five season, and he was only a full-time player in three of those seasons. Also, four forced fumbles.

Not the most consistent player for sure. But he can make plays. He’s a less expensive Michael Huff. Good competition for Branch (who gave up 8 TDs last season) and Brown (who is still an unknown at this point).

Let’s just wait and see what happens.

Because the IBABuzz comment section servers as sort of a ’support group’ session, if you will, for those on the inside and the outside who love the Raiders and struggle with the futility of the organization.

I got an inside tip that there is even some very high brass in the Raider org. that are here constantly on a regular basis, cause this is the only place where one can disagree with the most high commander of silver and black and not be humiliated and exiled for it.

It is clear he no intention to re-sign him. I do not think the timing of the re-signing mean anything. If Al wants Bush and Miller then we sign them. Only he knows.

I cannot believe some of the stuff you guys say it’s funny as hell. I can’t even come up with an analogy to explain the comedy. If a QB never throws at a CB how do you know he’s good. What truely great elite corner do you know of EVER that QB’s threw at all the time?

The reason they don’t throw at Nnamdi is because his guy is never open. QB’s get paid to win if they thought for 2 sec’s that they could get a score throwing at Nnanmdi he would see so many attempts his head would swim. Nnamdi is about as overrated as Charles Woodson was when people were saying the same thing. The thing is as a pure cover guy Nnamdi may be better than Charles was. These NFL personnel people don’t fall all over each other for someone who can’t play they watch film they see what the guy does it aint smoke and mirrors………..LOL

  155. Deja vu Says:

  159. priesttj Says:

I’ve watched every game son…….why do you think I say what I say Rivers has NEVER abused Nnamdi. They have never scored ONE SINGLE TOUCHDOWN on Nnamdi so exactly how did they abuse him?

  160. J Hill Says:

    Priest,

It’s as simple as a QB is going to go to his #1 WR more often than not.

Nnamdi wasn’t covering the #1 WR all that often. Heck, when 3 WRs were on the field, he’s check the #3 guy simply because the OC would and could line them up where Nnamdi wasn’t.

Too bad he got hurt early last year as he finally was allowed to shadow guys like Fitzgerald. After the ankle injury against Seattle, it made no sense to move him around.

By the way, Nnamdi shadowing Fitgerald didn’t translate to a dominant game from our defense, or any plays made by Nnamdi.

  161. personal foul Says:

I went to several games in Philly in the mid 60’s. Experienced my first mugging (receiving end) at the ripe old age of 7 in the restroom. Dad and his buddy went to the restroom and ‘talked’ to some teenagers in there. Not sure if they were the same guys, but I’m sure they remember the day.

As far as I know, the stadium in Philly is thew only one that was built with a jail inside of it. No joke. Pretty much the doosh baggery capital of the country.

  162. J Hill Says:

Are you not the same guy who thinks DHB is an all-pro talent? Nnamdi was a fine player but no one is worth what we paid him. The absence of DHB in the line up will improve the team more than if we resigned NNamdi, but you think this guy will be an ALL-Pro.

Being over rated doesn’t mean that Nnamdi is not a good CB. Over rated from the standpoint that the Raiders secondary will collapse without him. Over rated from the standpoint that he is NOT going to get 20 million a year.

J Hill I’ve watched nnamdi for 7 years man he’s covered everyone in this league who’s any good. Just recently they move their better guys away from Nnamdi, WHY because they can get more production. Tell me why would they move them away from someone they could beat??? huh?? it doesn’t make chicken sense, nor any other sense. You put players on guys you know they match up better with. THAT”S why they move the 1’s away from Nnamdi. I heard this same garbage when Charles left………..He’s overrated… he doesn’t make plays……..he’s never healthy…….all a bunch of crap. Nnamdi is going to be a star in Philly.

    DEAL WITH IT!!!

  170. Dr. Hunter S. Thompson Says:

Nnamdi should have been loyal to Al and the Nation.

    Fuk him.

    Go Raiders!

  171. SnB Production Says:

You guys talking down on Nnamdi sound ignorant. You have much more successfull franchises opening the pocketbook to get Nnamdi. So the “market” thinks he’s the man. And the truth is he is.

The bottom line is that the Raiders defensive scheme doesn’t require top flight DBs. It was the Raiders that kept Nnamdi on one side of the field the entire game….the Raiders that don’t deploy the zone…the Raiders don’t do much blitzing either.

So if Nnamdi locks his side down…the opponent moves the #1 across the field to abouse the other guy…or lines him up in the slot to go against a nickle guy or linebacker.

The Raiders SHOULD NOT invest another #1 draft pick in a Defensive Back.

The Front 7 need to become DOMINANT and get the sacks when it counts…be a fearsome foursome if you will….and they HAVE to stop the #$@#@$ run

  172. SnB Production Says:

The defense will have to shake things up with the scheme…this “beat your man” stuff gets exposed.

I know Nnamdi hated playing in this defense and I respect that but that’s why he was rewarded the way he was. It’s difficult to take criticism for doing your job better than anyone else can do it. Fans don’t understand the game and sya a bunch of ignorant crap.

He did what they asked him to do and did it as well as it can be done. Now he’ll get to put up some stats which is what he’s slways been criticised for.

We were #2 in pass defense last year the defense is effective it works but gthe better you are at it the less plays you make so it looks like you’;re niot doing much but in actuality you’re doin sensational.

  177. morilla Says:

Priest, I said that some are saying he is overrated. I think he is a good CB. But it is also a fact that you can throw at him. Sh1t, Routt had the tougher job out of the two.

And here’s one for the tin foil hat wearing people. That dropped int in SF, what if that was on purpose?

  178. priesttj Says:

Doc that’s the kind of comment I’m talking about, fans just don’t get it. So players have to ignore the criticism and play. Nnamdi got tired of it I cna’t blame him.

  179. Just Win Baby Says:

If The Raiders wanted Nnamdi, he would be here. I agree with those who say the writing was on the wall when Routt signed his deal. Combine with that the comments made about getting 2 or 3 good players in exchange for his pay and it seems pretty obvious to me that Nnamdi Asomougha has been an afterthought to everyone sitting behind a desk for quite some time. Nnamdi knew it and was just too decent to say it because I think that’s just the type of guy he is. Al Davis made him a very rich man, and he appreciates it more than some others in the past (Warren Sapp).

Orton was the only good thing their shizzy team really had going for them. They would be fools in Denver to let Orton go. He will be their starter all year.

You’re making stuff up now. Who said Nnamdi COULDN’T cover other teams #1 guys? We said for the most part he DOESN’T move around and cover the other teams #1 guy. It was HIS complaint that HE stated publicly.

No matter the reason, fact of the matter is Nnamdi rarely ended up covering the other team’s best WR. I have every confidence that we can replace Nnamdi’s most recent role (is that better) of covering the other teams lesser WRs.

CJ37, Ware, McFadden can cover the other teams #2 and 3 WRs. If you want to call covering the 2 and 3 WRs as shutting down one one side of the field, then have at it.

  195. priesttj Says:

J Hill What do you guys think man, people would throw at Nnamdi if they thought they had the talent to do so. The same thing happened when Mike haynes and Lester were here Dan Fouts would throw at them and have some success. Sometimes a lot of success their human but to say he’s overrated is flat out stupid. There are soem extremely stalented QB WR tandems who can make plays but that fool said he abused Nnamdi. Any DB can be had at times Mike Haynes had bad games too.

Dan Fouts would see the Raiders coming and rub his hands together because the talent he had outside against the tandem we had which was voted the top tandem in history. And he used to have great days against them but we would win too.

  200. aig-raiders Says:

The hate on Nnamdi by Raider fans is really silly. C Wood never put in the effort like Nnamdi did but he is much admired the Raider Nation now. Nnamdi worked his tail off. No, Rivers didnt abuse him. Rivers completed a few passes per year and I can only recall 2 in the last few years on the back shoulder. There’s a video of Rivers telling Nnamdi after one recent game that he thought Nnamdi was the best and the back shoulder is the only throw he can try on #21. I believe that was after the Monday nite opener when we got Seymour. Nnamdi gave up a critical first down to Vincent Jackson (back shoulder) on their final scoring drive.

On BSPN, Eric Allen (I’m sure he’s qualified) said that Revis is better at playing the ball once it is in the air and even better than the WR himself. However, Nnamdi is so dominant at jamming the WR at the LOS that the QB gives up on that WR within the first sec. That is why Nnamdi never gets balls thrown his way and Revis baits you into throwing his way.

You know, after having never played on a winning season, dealing with Al Davis and his pet projects and drama (JR, Kiffin, and Cable), anyone would want to go somewhere else too if they had the chance. I wish him the best but he will always be another Raider Great. There are many Raider great that played for other teams. I’m looking forward to jersey #21 being on sale for $50 on Raiders.com at some point. Peace.

  201. priesttj Says:

J hill LOL WOW man Nnamdi role is GONE son, it left with Nnamdi. It’ll go back to a more even flow of QB’s attacking the entire secondary although Routt is damn good much better than fans think he is the other guy needs to be for him what he was for Nnamdi then we might have something.

  203. SnB Production Says:

Jhill’s position is more right than wrong. Again, the Raiders scheme does not need elite Corners to be serviceable.

This defense is based on getting to the QB….if the Front 7 doesn’t do that..the defense will get smacked up again.

Stopping the run is paramount….force the opponent into obvious down and distance situations

Raiders defense does not need an elite CB…just average serviceable guys…..which is why Al spending all those 1st and 2nd round picks on safeties and corners was not the right strategy

  204. Just Win Baby Says:

I spent a lot of time bagging on Routt in the past, most of which was deserved. But last year the dude covered the best recievers that teams had to throw at him because everyone was avoiding Aso. Covering the #1 guy every play and knowing that the play was coming his way was a trial by fire and I think he came through it pretty well. I’ve heard people say that we were the #2 pass defense last year and if nobody was throwing at Aso, then somebody did a pretty damn good job against all the best recievers in the NFL. I think we should worry less about Routt and worry more about who will be on the other side because I think some other teams are going to start to avoid Routt’s side of the field. I have been his biggest critic because, for a few years there, he was terrible. But I support the guy in his new role as our #1 CB now and I think he will do just fine.

Kobe says his knee feels better than it has in years and after Fish played with Kobe in the Phillipines recently Fish concurs. Speaking of injuries, our medics better examine Gaither and ZMiller well because no matter how much potential they have we don’t need another Javon Walker situation

how the hell do u not trade a guy who has all the leverage if u couldnt sign him long term. and if davis didnt want him thats even more reason to trade him. just bad business. NE wasted no time tradin seymour tho it may have fugged them for a couple of years but they did get a 1rst rndr to help them now. why couldnt we do that?

Dear AFC West, can we please not let the Oakland Raiders sweep the division like they did last season?

  232. 89052RAIDER Says:

Why would Jacksonville trade a draft pick for a receiver that has been a bust so far in his career?

Well, for starters, the Jaguars don’t really have any noteworthy receivers on their roster right now. Darrius Heyward-Bey wouldn’t be considered an elite talent, but he is still young and could figure out the game and become a decent player.

Jacksonville would most likely need to give up a mid-round pick, which if Heyward-Bey developed into a deep threat, could be considered a steal.

Oakland would win in this scenario by picking up a draft pick to continue building their team. They already have a very young group of receivers, and losing Heyward-Bey most likely wouldn’t hurt too bad.

  233. 89052RAIDER Says:

    I would take a 7th for DHB

  234. J Hill Says:

what makes me sick is that al davis said he had trades offered for aso and passed on them cuz aso said he wanted to stay.

    EXACTLY !!!!!!!

Jets offered their #1 pick last year, Al was going to take the deal, but Nnamdi said he wanted to be a Raider. Nnamdi confirmed this when he was ESPNs First Take with Skip.

After seeing him on that show, I was like, heck, maybe he is coming back.

Kinda phugged up how we’ll just end up with a 3rd instead of that #1.

  235. inonewordraider Says:

I’d take Favre as a third stringer and if Campbell can’t play with that kind of pressure he won’t get us to the promised land anyways. ZMiller disappeared after the injury so what about Alge Crumpler, Todd Heap or Kevin Boss?

  236. A.B. Paine III Says:

  239. priesttj Says:

Armond now that makes sense. I hate the fact that he left and we got zilch. That’s what I’m mad about. The contract he signed asked for minimal stats and he didn’t achieve them for whatever reason. I don’t think either side knew he wouldn’t but when it was up there wasn’t anything either side could do about it. It was unfortunate, but we have to move on what did what we had to do in the draft and got some good kids but we could’ve got a KING’S RANSOM for Nnamdi in a trade.

    NOW THAT SUCKS!!!

  240. DKnight007 Says:

As I said last week….ADIOS and FAREWELL to a great person, a great player, and a great Raiders….Nnamdi Asomougha!

Thanks for being a pros pro and becoming a great talent as a Raider!

Not getting anything in return for losing Nnamdi, is utterly STUPID!

Paying Routt a little less than what Nnamdi ended up getting paid is STUPID also!

  241. A.B. Paine III Says:

    From Bucs Chat:

would you trade for Darrius Heyward-Bey
would u give up a fifth for him… we have good rec. but not a burner!!!

they say he sorry in oakland and he can’t cathc idk bout that i think if he comes here we will feel comfortable becuz he wnt be asked to do so much.. with freeman’s arm he could be a huge weapon with spot duty.. he still young and our rec. coach and rec. core will make him feel comfortable…

  242. 89052RAIDER Says:

Chaz is going to stay healthy and the front seven is going to do their job. Everything will be just fine if these thins happen. It as simple as that. Nnamdi or No NNamdi.

  243. From the Bay 2 L.A. 2 Las Vegas Says:

    He’s good for a decoy…thats it!

  244. Kirk Says:

What about Gaither? Has anyone seen him play? I love the fact that we are looking for O linemen.

  245. plataynegro Says:

I’ve been down on Routt a lot over the last few years, but any CB that faces that many throws at him is gonna give up TDs and have a few PIs. I am not saying he is a top 5 corner, but he has held his own on an island over the last year and a half. Don’t get me wrong, Nnamdi is the superior player, but if he faced 100 passes his direction a year he would give up TDs and have PIs also (He would have more than 4 Ints though too!)

  246. plataynegro Says:

I normally don’t say much about how Al spends his money, but damn! If he was smarter with some of these ridiculous contracts we would be able to KEEP our guys that we develop. Nothing is worse than seeing a guy drafted here, develop over time, then bolt when he is ready to take a step to the next level!

If you ask me, Lechler and SeaBass need to restructure, how much does a kicker and punter think they need. Especially if they want to play for a winner!
