Jerry McDonald moving to print, new blogger on board

Jerry McDonald has been assigned the Raiders beat writer position, effective immediately. I am switching from the beat writer the past 14 years to the full-time blogger. So, for those of you who crave your Raiders fix from Jerry, he’s still a click away, as well as in the paper. I have the task of trying to fill Jerry’s shoes, which won’t be easy. He was on the leading edge of papers incorporating blogging into their coverage and he quickly developed into one of the best in the nation.

Raiders on verge of reporting to training camp

Several news outlets reported that the NFL owners and players have reached accord on all the major points in bargaining for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement and that ratification by the players is a formality.

Raiders only team not in favor of new CBA

The owners voted 31-0 in favor of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement on Thursday afternoon. The Raiders abstained.

Shared stadium for Raiders-49ers a long ways off

Steve Corkran will file something later for the print edition, but the 49ers and Raiders are no closer to a shared stadium today than they were when commissioner Roger Goodell supported the idea back on Oct. 10 when he attended the Raiders-Seahawks game at the Coliseum after being invited by CEO Amy Trask.

Players looking for less contact?

UPDATE: Chris Mortensen of ESPN has reported owners have agreed to elimination of two-a-day practices during training camp, although allowances will be made for a second session without helmets.

Training camp isn’t what it used to be, and that’s probably a good thing with regard to the long-term health of the players.
