how many rde guys can get you double digit sacks, drop into coverage and play solid linebacker? Not many this is why he gets the big bucks. Not to mention his value as a hard working pro that is rebuilding his career after threatening to become a disappointment.

This was a great call by old man al

LISTEN UP PEOPLES! Quit blaming Mr Davis for our best reciever and best corner walking off the team. Ever think that the asst. gm might have had a hand in that? HUH! And another tip. Bush AINT COMIN BACK EITHER!

Al is to old to be working 20 hours a day. Who you thinks in charge? GET A F’ING CLUE.

If it wasnt for Hue Jackson, this team would be all but toast.

You are aware that Bush is an RFA, and we can get him back for the asking?

    omniscience,

and Nnam had no problem taking the money two years ago, when we sucked. He walks the year after we finally (and for the first time in his career) don’t lose?

    F^%&^& him.

Al’s a ruthless sunnuvabich – as we all know – but he rewards loyalty.

Maybe it was Cable getting non-renewed that did it but I’m not interested in mediocraty and Al is for damn sure not.

We coulda had great compensation but you said you were for real, Nnam.

If Zach’s lawyer got him up in Seattle for bargaining chips, fine.

Get it while the gettin is good, Zach, but don’t be a punk and skip town for Cable’s learning-intensive soft @$$. He could only take the Raiders so far.

    Free agent scorecard (so far):
    CB…lost Aso
    OL…lost Gallery
    TE…not signed
    WR…no upgrades
    LB…re-signed Wimbley
    S…re-signed Huff
    QB…Edwards

3/7, not pretty. Hope there are at least 2 more big deals coming soon

  15. EMRaiders Says:

I think losing Miller would be a big loss to this team. But at the same time after reading some posts here, I agree with some of the points being made about losing him.

He has had 2 concussions, and I think the NFL has some kind of rule about the 3rd? something to do with playing time and such. I’m not sure of what it is exactly, but I think the NFL passed it a couple years back when they were doing this whole “fight concussions” campaign. They had commercials and everything.

That said, plus the injuries to his feet, does make him a risky investment. Imagine Al gives him the big contract he is sure to be looking for, and then in week 4 he gets laid out by one of Campbells floaters, and we don’t see him again until week 10, when he comes back and is not 100%. He would not be much help then.

He is a great weapon and if he does leave, I will surely miss him. But I don’t think it would be the end of the world. I don’t know how much of an outspoken leader he was in locker room, but our offense was somewhat built with him in mind. So it will be interesting to see how we do without him.

Best of luck Miller. Resign if you really want to be a Raider. If not, don’t let the door hit you on the arse, or Al’s walker for that matter.

    GO RAIDERS!!!

  16. rooch Says:

Al Davis needs to get Z. Miller signed ASAP so he can be on the field come Thursday. As for Bush, isn’t he a RFA?? If he leaves don’t we get a 1st rnd draft pick??

Since when do real Raider fans start rooting for their best receiver and TE Miller to leave??

    ——————————————————-

    You’re on one today, mayne.

Let me ask you this …

Zach Miller had a contract offer BEFORE the lockout, right? Owner and agent couldn’t get a deal done BEFORE the lockout, right?

Al “overpaid” everyone who signed BEFORE the lockout, right?

Why do you not hold Miller accountable for refusing to sign the best offer he got as a FA?

I give Huff all the RAIDER credit in the world for how he handled his free agency. Huff WANTS to be a Raider, obviously Miller is “pondering” NOT being a Raider.

  21. RaiderRetribution Says:

Raiders needed to build through the draft,we are doing that.

Players loved getting that money from Al, but they did not want to earn their paychecks, Jamarcus, Javon, Gallery, Moss, just gold-digging milfs.

  22. YoungAmerican Says:

I’m OK with Miller leaving as long as the Raiders don’t rely on a gaggle of late-round picks to replace him.

Sign Kevin Boss and use the extra cap space to bring in a veteran WR (Edwards, Floyd), and at least the Raiders will come out even.

  23. J Hill Says:

At least Nnamdi went to a team that is CLEARLY on track for the playoffs and a possible SB run. Mike Vick, and all those weapons on offense. All the moves they made on defense? I can see why he went there.

But Miller going to play wit Tavaris Jackson is effin HILARIOUS!

Going to a team that had a WORSE record than we did?

    LMFAO, Zach!

  24. la and the bay Says:

    This is obviously politics.

Shakedown with what Al pays these dudes and several TEs already being wheeled/dealed/signed?

More likely a bluff by Zach’s agent – and a bold one at that – or Zach is serious about looking elsewhere.

Seattle is a team on the rise but have serious QB issues in the same division as Bradford, who is getting help.

  25. From the Bay 2 L.A. 2 Las Vegas Says:

    —–

Boss and Steve Smith would be nice…maybe Floyd?

  26. TerrapinRaider Says:

Maybe I’m by myself on this on; but I’m not too concerned w/ losing Miller. He’s a very good player, the best receiver we have had for the past few years; but he’s is gettins seriously dinged up. He suffered the same injury as Gates and Gates, if reports are true, STILL has not fully recovered. And ZM suffered his injury AFTER Gates.

Late last year, ZM slowed down and it was very noticable. So you take into account that injury, his past concussions, and general lack of speed BEFORE the injury its not exactly screaming – cut a big check.

I have said a number of times. ZM was already fairly slow b4 the injury. Its possible that foot injury made him too slow to be as much of a factor anymore.

  27. PoDunk Earl Says:

Miller wants to be back with Cable. Hue Jackson will bring out the f’ing beast of anybody hes got in uniform. He aint afraid to kick some asses if he has to. Hue is gonna be just fine, and so will the Raiders, without Miller.

  28. la and the bay Says:

    Well said, J.

LA to TheBay is on a temporary handle for now.

Zach linked with Seahawks = Zach linked with Cable.

Nnam went to a team willing to spend and also not too much so as they couldn’y bring in Rogers-Cromartie et al.

Zach is just sitting on a pair of dueces hoping Al sees Aces.

  29. PA-RAIDER Says:

Zach will never make another Pro Bowl in a Seahawk uniform….haha

  30. Charged Up! Says:

I like Wimbley. On top of the sacks he brought consistent pressure off the edge that we haven’t seen since D Burgess’ prime. He could be a 15 sack guy for us while holding his own as a LB for the next few years.

  36. la and the bay Says:

I put more stock in Zach than several here do, MR.

I’m scared of being in the cellar and should be. I think we’re beyond that now though, realistically and have the pieces to win the West.

I think Zach makes the offense more dynamic. He was underutilized (I think that’s a real word) and should have had more catches than he did. Injuries are a part of the game, but Zach’s still pretty young.

With him being used as he should, the offense is that much more dangerous.

But no interest in him whatsoever until righ now when he’s in Seattle and the situation has come to a head and Kam signs this huge deal?

He’s trying – or his agent is- to get under Al’s skin.

jhill made a point a lot of idiots on here miss. he was wanted and HE left! he was offered a deal and refused before the lockout. they negotiated with him afterwards and he stalled. it didnt take him long to be with his booty buddy in seattle. let him go. like i said yesterday fugg all punks. get rid of all the softies on this team. get kevin boss who is a more rugged blocker and just as good a reciever. he doesnt catch as many passes cuz the giants qb and wr’s are better. he would however have better stats here. he is also faster and more athletic as he averaged 15.2 yds a catch last year. huff gets mad love cuz he wants to be a raider. that should tell yall somethin about zach.

I know alot of the “fans” clamour for the big signings and so on, but really. With nearly the same roster as last year, I think we’ll be alright. I mean maybe we have a slightly more difficult schedule, but you’ve got to consider that if Seabass, makes a field goal in Arizona, the QB controversy and stale offense in San Fran comes through, and a couple small things here and there, we could have easily finished 10-6. Yeah we lost Nnamdi, he missed some time last year and I don’t really think it affected us, if the rooks from the draft class can step up. I for one look forward to the season. Regardless, I think AL will pick up some solid help over the next few weeks, either by waiver wire, trades or stale FA’s. I would rather have this occur, than splurge for overpriced players as we have done in the past.

  57. 0ak_R8Dr89 Says:

Y is everyone freaking out for we have good young talent…last couple of Superbowl champs have built most of their team thru the draft not going on a free agent spree…after we stopped signing all those useless free agents like years past we came up with an 8-8 seasonbwith our young guys we drafted..don’t hit the panic button yet nation…

  62. guest123 Says:

Giving $29M guaranteed to Wimbley and not giving $25M to Nnamdi tells you that Al and Nnamdi had a little meeting.

Al: I’d really like to sign you long term, but I need to know if you are willing to stay. Do you want to be a Raider and help us win some championships?

Nnamdi: No, not for any money you offer me Al, You and your team will never be competing for a super bowl in my career. I’m done with you, don’t bother pursuing me, it’s not about the money.

Al: Fine, if that’s the way you want it, then to hell with you! I’ll throw my money at people who want to be Raiders.

Nnamdi clearly spit in the face of Al Davis.

  63. J Hill Says:

How much do you Zach guys think we should pay him?

60 catches last year = 4 catches per game.

  87. aig-raiders Says:

You guys should check your math.

Wimbley 5 yr 48 mil with 29 mil guaranteed.

if he plays 1 year, he’s guaranteed 29 mil. If he plays the full 5 year, he will earn 48 mil. So if you want to get a year avg based on 5 year, then your number is not 5 mil but more like $9.6 mil per year. Now that number will change once the details of the contract is disclosed. My hunch is his first 3 years will total around $29mil which will mean around $10 mil per year.

He aint going to play the full 5 year at the same contract. He will most likely play for 3 years and then get another contract.

Free-agent tight end Zach Miller is close to signing a deal with the Seattle Seahawks, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Miller, 25, went to his first Pro Bowl last season after recording 60 receptions, 685 yards and five touchdowns with the Oakland Raiders.

The Seahawks have been busy during free agency. After letting veteran quarterback Matt Hasselbeck go in free agency, they released fan favorite linebacker Lofa Tatupu.

Seattle also signed former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, hoping that the 28-year-old signal-caller can become the team’s starter. The Seahawks followed that up by nabbing one of the most coveted receivers on the market in Sidney Rice, who played with Jackson on the Vikings, and added offensive lineman Robert Gallery.

I don’t know if the Raiders have “Improved” the Roster any, so far
    #####################

    ====================================
I’m not sure anyone wants a huge signing. They just want to maintain the status quo.

The Raiders got worse through FA, not get better, not break even, WORSE. You never get worse through FA, that’s when you know you’re ****ing up as an organization.

Sacks are overrated. Anthony Smith used to have double digit sacks too. I’ll take a good DE that can play both the run and pass. Frankly, a consistent QB pressure is much more valuable than sacks. A player can get 11 sacks but if 4 of those came in one game then it really blinds the other 17 games. At this rate, Shonasty and Houston are going to cost us around $50 mil guaranteed when their rookie contract is up…..so long as they let Al Davis know they are loyal to him. But that’s how we roll as the Raider Land.

    2007 5 sacks
    2008 4 sacks

Lotta haters & false fans mouthing off. I’ve been called too optimistic in here.. Know what? I’m more than optimistic this year I’m GEEKED! I’m agreeing with Mistic and the ever-more optimistic B@uce that maybe ZM walking isn’t such a bad thing. Maybe the Raiders know more about his health than we do. And I agree that Wimbley has an amazing set of skills. Al is working it right now. Most important to me right now is resigning Bush. I’d also like to sign Lofa..

BTW, DisCharge, why don’t you go down to the Beech and pound sand up your a$$? Don’t invite me to your imaginary gayfest in Cabo, I’ll be to busy ACTUALLY PLAYING MUSIC and in any spare time rooting my beloved Oakland Raiders. Pi$$ off..

    ——————————————————

Might actually have a point if those guys were UNRESTRICTED FAs.

How do we refuse to let Zach go since he is an UNRESTRICTED FA?

  205. aig-raiders Says:

If sacks not overrated then, are you telling me Trevor Scott deserves at least $20 mil guaranteed since his best year in 2009 was only 2 sacks behind Wimbley 7 vs 9. In fact Trevor had 2 games where he had 2 sacks each. Wimbley only had 1 game (the final game) with more than 2 sacks.

    T. Scott in his career avg 4.5 sacks per year. If you throw out his injury last year, he’d avg 6 sacks.

    K. Wimbley avg 7.5 sacks per year.

So please tell me why Scott shouldnt get $20 mil guaranteed if sacks are NOT overrated.

    J. Ford will keep the defensive backs honest

Soup’s better, right? By that logic, Miller would have had more catches, right? Offense do even better than it did?

D layed down in that game. NFL Rewind is expensive but ends arguments like f&(&(&ng Google, mayne.

  209. RAIDER Says:

Miller and Bush “great”? Really? Even close to Nnamdi’s impact? Al said Nnamdi was easily replaceable. Said he could get 3 “great” players for the price Nnamdi’s asking. End 3rd qtr: Texans 24, Raiders 14
By Jerry McDonald – NFL Writer
Sunday, October 3rd, 2010 at 3:17 pm in Oakland Raiders.

Houston is down to the 11-yard line to open the fourth qurater after a Bruce Gradkowski pass was tipped by Ixavier Adibi and intercepted by Troy Nolan, setting up the Texans with good field position.

After recovering nicely defensively, Oakland is again being shredded by Houston’s running game and is attempting to put the game out of reach.

Gradkowski took a shot on the throwing shoulder but remained in the game.

    ———-

It looked for a moment as if Jason Campbell would get back in the lineup when Gradkowski took a second wallop from Bernard Pollard in the right shoulder area on a third-down play. The Raiders punted, and Gradkowski went to the locker room for a minute.

Gradkowski insisted he was fine, threw a few balls on the sideline and returned.

    – The Raiders had 20 or more first downs (24) in four straight games since 2002, when they had a seven-game streak and a five-game streak.

  259. TerrapinRaider Says:

I told you boys a long time ago the Raiders were drafting Millers eventual replacement considering his injuries. They drafted Gordon & Ausberry. I had Ausberry as the fav.

Maybe the Raiders did not want Miller to go so soon; but don’t think they were not preparing for it (ala Nnam, except seeking Millers replacement was due to his injuries).

  260. Charged Up! Says:

I guess you can’t get those three great players when you have a 80 year old GM who screws up your salary cap and can’t think fast enough to fix things during such a short signing period.

  261. Just Fire Baby Says:

Playing a few seasons with Jamarcus Russell as your QB, is like dog years for a TE.

Damn shame we had to blow that young talent Miller had, and watch him evolve into a slowing, meddling, unable to block, concussion-riden TE by the time he was 25.

Jamarcus, the gift that keeps giving!!

  262. RAIDER Says:

    FACT = 29 million GUARANTEED over 5 years = 6 million a year.
    ———————

I tried hard to not make you look stupid but you obviously couldnt help yourself. Did you pass math in high school?

Fact – 48 mil contract over 5 years with 29 mil guaranteed.

Translation = That means he is guaranteed a MINIMUM of $29 mil regardless if he plays 1 year or 5 years. If he plays 5 years, then he is owed $48 mil aka the entire term of the contract (unless renegotiated).

If you noticed, I didnt mention your name and I was merely making sure the numbers were correct.

Now if you want to go at it for round 2, you go on ahead. I’ve learned that it’s next to impossible to reason with a guy that claims to be an expert in Asian Male analysis based on “his 2 Asian male acquaintance” God forbid you actually move their status from acquaintance to friend. Then, you’ll prob qualify to teach Asian Male culture at the local community college at that point. I’ll go back to ignoring your wonderful posts. Unless I find your math to be grossly miscalculated.

    *****************************

    I agree with this.

Wimbley will play under this contract until most of the 29 guaranteed is paid out (probably 3 years but don’t know for sure) than they will go back to the drawing board.

  311. RAIDERMAN99 Says:

ZM has been a fine player. Not an awesome physical talent, but was able to get open and had excellent hands. Consistent production and reliable.

Some cracks began to show last 2 years. Some drops. Concussions. And then the foot injury.

Will he probably still be a very good player for another 3 or 4 years ? I think so.

Is he irreplacable ? Far from it.

I think Kevin Boss is at least Miller’s equal, if not better.

Wouldn’t feel comfortable rolling into 2011 with just Brandon Meyers and some late round draft picks – but it wouldn’t terrify me either. I like Meyers.

At this moment, the Raider primary concern has to be adding another center to the roster. There is no way in hell they can go into the season with Wiz II as the only center on the roster. I don’t believe there’s another lineman on the roster with any experience at center outside of Veldheer. If Wiz goes down or can’t cut the mustard do we really want to move V to center ?
That would appear to be the plan right now.

Raider priority at this moment should be to resign Satele, or bring in another veteran that can play center.

  312. RAIDER Says:

Why are you calling me a coward, BeAlwaysUrself? You said you’re not a fan. Why would you even be here defending every stupid move Al makes when you’re not even a fan? You make no sense. It’s like you smoked one giant rock before logging on tonight.

  321. priesttj Says:

He has been the best TE in years I don’t know about 20 years but certainly for some time. I really like the two kids we drafted one is athletic kid and the other is a very good inline blocker. The key is we do have Myers who can hold down the fort as they grow. It’s nto nearly as bad as it sounds. Miller solidifies the TE position but he not what I call a truely great TE. But Aus has the potential to be one and Gordon is not a bad consilation. He had injury problems similar to Chaz when we drafted him but he’s 270 and very physical plus he’s faster than Zack is. We kind of lucked out with those two. I wish we would gotten Virgil Green though and I would care if Zack left.

  322. la and the bay Says:

Wimbley would not, no but he and Zach have backed Al in a corner here. He’s rewarded loyalty, like it or not and these two dudes are gunning for theirs.

Wimbley got less than a mil last year, was excersised for his extension for 4 mil (voided by league after his agent was cleared to make it 3 years prior) and then signs the Tag to ensure he doesn’t escape.

It’s not the ideal situation but if Kam walked, we’d be in the same position: overpaying a LB. And this one is versatile and very young. Al had his eye on him in college. Of course he’s going to keep him.

I have said time and time again, ZM was already slow and that injury just made him slower. In the pro bowl, he did not look good. You think the Raiders were lost on this?

Sure, they may want him back now; but they surely were drafting TE this year for a reason!

I knew Ausberry was going to be converted to TE. And I had him marked as the guy they were going to try to replace Miller with. Faster and good hands from his WR days. But that was to be down the road a bit. Now Richard Gordon, who has more experience at TE has an oppty to fill the void if it comes to it. He may be good himself. Miami just didn’t use the TE much as I’ve read.

MY statement was in regards to GUARANTEED money.

How hard is that to understand?

    My goodness, Ziva!!!!!

Ok, so you wanna CHANGE the topic to what he would make over 5 years?

    No problem!

We keep him franchised, that’s 11 million GUARANTEED this year, right?

30% raise to franchise him again next year, right?

    Hmmmm 11 million x 1.30 = 14.3 million guaranteed

So in after TWO years of playing under the franchise he is guaranteed a MINIMUM of 25.3 million.

How much do we pay him year 3 after paying him 14.3 million?

    Less?

    Do we let him walk?

Is it safe to say we will have to pay him at leadt 12 million in that 3rd year? Why would he stay for less, a la Nnamdi and Zach?

During an amazing career, he won three Super Bowls. The rings he picked up won’t be immortalized either, as they’re being auctioned off on Tuesday, August 9.

The rings will be sold by Nate D. Sanders auctions and, according to Sports Collectors Daily, they’re being sold because Guy is filing for bankruptcy.

Guy won the three rings during his tenure with the Oakland (and Los Angeles) Raiders from 1973-1986, picking up rings in Super Bowl XI (a victory over the Vikings), Super Bowl XV (a victory over the Eagles), and Super Bowl XVII (a defeat of the Redskins).

According to the Sanders auction release, the estimated value of the three rings is between $75,000 and $90,000.

Currently, the high bid on the rings is $6.727.

Why does it matter to you what Ricochet’s favorite team is? Do you not have an argument to put up against his? Is that why you’re trying to shift the argument over to his supposed favorite team? I think so.

Maybe he doesn’t even have a favorite team. I’m pretty much heading there. I’m almost through with the Raiders, and I don’t plan on taking up another team.

A lot of people just watch the NFL, and mock their former team for continuing to self destruct. It’s not their fault your team loses every year.

So we lose one of our best defensive players (Nnamdi) and now possibly our 3rd best offensive player (behind Darren and Cooper) and we balance it out with Trent Edwards.

    Yippeee!!!

    =============================================
Don’t underestimate the importance of signing Trent Edwards.

He’ll be starting before the year is over.

He might stink too. Haven’t seen enough of him to know if he’s any good. Can’t be worse than JaJason though.

    JaJason couldn’t hold off Collins.

    Lost his job to Grads.

He’ll flame out or tap out, and Edwards will be starting before the year is over. At least it won’t be Boller.

If it happens early enough – before JaJason completely scuttles the ship – the season might not be lost.
