Report: Miller visiting Seahawks

UPDATE: Have confirmed that Zach Miller is indeed visiting with the Seahawks at their facility. Their incumbent tight ends are fourth-year veteran John Carlson (31 receptions, 318 yards, 1 touchdown) and third-year player Cameron Morrah (9 receptions, 119 yards).

Free agent tight end Zach Miller is visiting the Seattle Seahwaks today, according to Aaron Wilson of Scout.com and the Carroll County Times.

At Raiders camp Sunday, a team source said Miller was in the process of finalzing details to remain with the Raiders and coach Hue Jackson said he expected a “resolution” soon.

For what it’s worth, Wilson’s reports in matters of contract figures and team visits is normally spot-on.

Whether Miller is simply checking out his options and getting additional leverage for his negotiations with the Raiders or if he considers the Seahawks (with Tom Cable as associate head coach and line coach) a potential destination is not known.

In another development, Adam Schefter reported on his Twitter account the Raiders were having Seattle linebacker Lofa Tatupu in for a visit.

Tatupu ostensibly would play weakside linebacker in Oakland. He is normally an every-down player, so it remains to be seen if the Raiders would be willing to pay the kind of money he wants or have the kind of role he desires.

Actually, Miller is the backup Long Snapper!
    Quick re-sign Jay Alford!

Ill say it again, for this offense you need a good /solid tight end. Having an elite tight end is luxury item. Zack is not an elite tight end, but he wants to get paid like one. Bring in another solid tight end, like boss or could do just fine in our offense.

we have a system that knows how to utilize the tight end, and a qb that also likes to use the tight end. no need to pay a good player superstar money. If he leaves plug in a replacement and the drop off wont be as drastic as some have predicted.

If the Raiders are willing to let Meyers, Ausberry, and Gordon try to replace Zach Miller, then they deserve an impotent offense in 2011.

Now if they use that money to lock up Braylon Edwards and/or Kevin Boss? Maybe I can see the light. Otherwise, this is just absurd.

Raiders bombshell: I’m told the Raiders have reached a 5-yr, $48 million contract extension with starting OLB Kamerion Wimbley.

  • RaiderLen

I’m not talking about a 70’s adult film either.
    This is funny.

  • YoungAmerican

The deal includes $29 million guaranteed. He was previously going to play on a $11.3 million franchise tag salary.

Go to guys for raiders are dmac and ford. Miller is a tight end folks a freakin tight end. Ya we needed him bad years before but we have weapons on offense now. 6th in offense last yr not cause of miller cause of one man who wears # 20. We healthy at reciever this yr give jcambell one more chance with raiders under hue only, full training camp knowing he’s the # 1. Things are gonna happen this yr. Just beat the teams we suppose to beat and sneak in a couple wins against teams we not suppose to win against. Team improved last yr cause if confidence. They have that team is hard to beat hands down.

    —————-Never mind. 🙂

Told they did the Wimbley contract to clear cap space!

If those numbers for Kam are accurate then theres your answer to why Zach left. We cant afford him paying 10 mill a year for Kam. Thats ridiculous.

  • DaTruth91

raiders sign Wimbely to a huge deal

    5 years, 48 million

  • 89052RAIDER

Miller is a tough player who gives max effort, but he is not elite. he barely crack a 5.0 flat forty at the combine. Overpaying would be a huge mistake.

No wonder Kamerion Wimbley has day off – probably passed out at $29 mil guaranteed. More likely, day off was reward for great start to camp
Let’s hope he still stays motivated.

  • bcz24

THIS is the deal we fckn spent all this on? Kam is maybe in the top 30 for LBs in the league, maybe… and we just paid him more than James Harrison. Now Im officially annoyed.

  • 89052RAIDER

I love Cam Wimbley, but that is ridiculous. Why does Al keep overpaying?! Cam played great but not that great.

  • 89052RAIDER

As much as I love Cam, Miller was more deserving of getting paid.

I’m not a “capologist”, but only 29 is guaranteed.

The money Bonus will be spread out over the 5 Years. Reducing the cap hit.

Thus enabling the raiders to make room for Z Miller.

Al has vision. Unfortunately it’s not 20/20.

I’d like to know exactly how that contract is structured. I really hope it’s backloaded.

By losing Nnamdi and Miller, I guess old man Al still wants to see a half empty Coliseum when they are at home huh?

We’ll have a half empty Colesuem due to the fact that Raiders fans like you only go when things are on the up!! Just like Cowboys fans route for the Cowboys, and New England fans jump on the wagon, and of late all the new found Jets fans, because of the big name signings and so forth!. If I lived in Oakland I’d have season tickets and go see everygame, just for the atmosphere, the parking lot experiences, and cuz I loves me some Raiders. Even when things look bleek, phuck, I’d pay the money for a ticket just to ride the BART in!

  • Twocents

Actually Al may be onto something. He knows that hyper-inflation of the currency is imminent. He can promise these guys anything and pay them off with worthless dollars.

  • cwood98

guys wimbleys contract is not ridiculous. it freed up cap space this year which means we need to go sign good guys starting with our own damn tight end.

  • RaiderRich510

What About Marcel Reece at tight end? in case Miller wants to be a B#&tch and doesnt sign……Mc cluskey at fullback?
