Blog login troubles

By Jon Becker
Tuesday, August 9th, 2011 at 11:26 pm in Oakland Raiders.

We apologize for our commenting system on the Raiders blog (and others) malfunctioning late this afternoon. I know I speak for Steve Corkran and Jerry McDonald when I say it’s extremely frustrating for us and we really do appreciate your patience throughout this.

Although it’s probably a good thing we can’t see what you guys are saying right now, we enjoy reading your views (most of them, anyway) and look forward to seeing what you think about the Raiders’ depth chart and their upcoming game against Arizona on Thursday.

In the meantime, the folks at MediaNews Group Interactive who maintain our blog’s platform are aware of the problems and are still working to get this resolved.

The lineup i’m sure will change by opening game, due to injuries and getting guys rested and healthy.

I’m concerned with LB depth. Man, i hope those backers stay healthy and also hope Chris Francis can make the team for much needed depth.

Did anyone else hear Hue’s comments about DHB in his presser yesterday? In regard to his play last year, Coach said (paraphrased): “He was very involved, while other guys were making plays. He is a great athlete.”

This doesn’t bode well for DHB’s future and I think he and JaWalrus will be the poster boys for our period of futility over the past few years.

How does this translate into anything Jamarcus Russell related?

It sounds to me like DHB was making a block that sprung someone.

Or maybe he drew coverage away from an area that allowed Ford to get open.

I don’t see the Russell relationship at all.

  25. babymamadrama Says:

I have mixed feelings about this year, even though I am excited as hell. But to loose two standout pro bowlers is rough. But looking at O line and WR, we seem to have more depth than we have had in a while…No real standouts….just pretty good guys and really good backups. Guys that can plug in and play. That goes a long way in a football season that is full of injuries. Thats what I like this year. And Hue is awesome… He gets me so motivated. I wish he were my boss. How can you not be fired up with that guy being your coach. I expect some of these young talents to blow it up.

  26. John David Booty Says:

Hue said they are gonna “get him the ball”, so he can make plays. They know good and well he cant catch. Looks like we might finally see DHB get those bubble screens that he could burn with. That worked for him at MD.

  27. RaiderRockstar Says:

Bottom line, in terms of high expectations, high amount of money spent, and little to no delivery on the field.

In DHB’s defense, however, he is (at least) playing. I heard on NFL Network today that Michael Crabtree is going to miss the entire preseason AGAIN this year. Unbelievable!!! For a guy who was demanding top wide receiver money, he has not played in a SINGLE PRESEASON GAME IN HIS ENTIRE THREE YEARS IN THE LEAGUE (and he STILL has a job!) Un-freakin’-believable!!!

DHB was just not targeted much last year. When the ball was actually thrown his way, he was decent.

It looks like last years depth, with backups moved in to replace starters, and newbies thrown in on the bottom.

  99. RAIDER Says:

J Hill you must play on all pro. You’d get torched on the madden level in cover 1. Especially against a 4 receiver set. Just torched. Too much man. You’ll have a couple of lame Davis scholarships covering 3rd and 4th receivers. Cover 3 press is best Raider defense i’ve found. Cover 2 if you’re skilled rushing the passer, know which buttons to do those pass rush moves, etc. But you have to get to the QB quick in cover 2 cause the deep middle’s wide open. use the blitz sparingly on madden because the designers seem to be big on showcasing QBs skills to read blitzes. You get torched almost every blitz. They even make Campbell good against the blitz. So, clearly they had no intentions of making this aspect of the game realistic, because Campbell in real life might be the worst QB against the blitz that I’ve ever seen. I’m not exaggerating.

That should change as CAMPBELL is a lot more comfortable with the WR’s….

In past training camps we used to hear to manny bad passes and drops…Not so this year, the chemistry of the team is vastly improving…

Should all things be equal in terms of traing camp performance; I like the idea of Mr. Barksdale starting at RT, Raiders would have solid OTs at both ends for a decade. Mr. Barnes gives instant experience, but I have no problem having him come off bench.

  164. raiderzmaverick Says:

Guys, I see you talking a lot about DHB not being targeted a lot last year. He was targeted a fair amount, but dropped over 50% of the balls thrown his way. One of the lowest competion percentages in the league to go his way.

Now, hopefully, getting him the ball means shorter routes etc. as many of what he dropped were longer routes. Hopefully just shorter passes and try to use his speed to turn a short pass to long gain.

The only problem with that is that I don’t think he seems that natural running with the ball either. I haven’t seen any plays where he made people miss once he had the ball etc.

Hopefully Hue finds works out a way to work to his “strengths” and then build up confidence. DHB to his credit does work hard to get better, and I think he’s already better than he was last year. It’s just that in the present time, I think 4 other WRs are “better” than him in his current state. Chaz is for sure, so is Ford and Murphy. And from the look of things Moore also I’d say is “ahead” in his game than DHB is.

With the game on the line, I’d rather have Campbell throwing to Murphy, Schillins, Ford or Murphy. Any argument to that?

Not to worry … new quarterback, trying to gell with an offense that may be a little suspect, especially in the run game. Everything should be pretty “vanilla” — the Cardinal quarterbacks might get killed, before they even have a chance to throw!

  180. raiderzmaverick Says:

Ha! Yeah, I meant Moore the 2nd time…

I have a hellova lot more trust just from what I hear from the practices on Moore getting that 3rd down pass with under a minute to go than I would DHB catching it.

You little pootbutts sure worry about my whereabouts don’t ya? Lol.

One lives in a trailer, the other lives with his grandparents. pathetic.

  182. raiderzmaverick Says:

I actually have nothing against DHB personally. I think he’s a good kid. Hard working. Just what pisses me off is that he’s overpaid by far and being given more chances than players who are quite a bit better than him.

  183. Deja vu Says:

routt vs fitz = BIG mismatch
edge most deffinitly goes to fitz..
luckily we only have to watch that matchup for a couple of drives..

    ————————–

Kolb will be running for his life, making erratic throws. Fitz may have a nice catch or 2.

    Kolb, meet L. Houston!

  184. LTR Says:

only 18 out 50. I’ll take that bet!

As you can all see a stoned blogger has a more popular opinion on our WR situation than Sanjay Lal!

Coming from Tom Coughlin, it looks as though the earliest we’ll see Giants WR Steve Smith is midseason. He had microfracture surgery.

Purchasing my tickets for the Buffalo game today! Row 2 behind the Raiders sideline! Ahhh I am a happy camper today!

I’ll be in the 1st row behind the Raider bench!

So, Al has DHB in the starting lineup. Sounds like same ole, same ole.

    2010 OAK 15 26 366 14.1 69 1 17 0 0
    Career 26 35 490 14.0 69 2 25 0 0

he averages 1.35 catches for every game he plays in..
18 out of 50 is realistic for dhb..

  193. raidertbone Says:

Let’s agree to disagree — the starting WR position is DHB’s to lose. Raiders have invested the time and the money. He had a chance to work under Hue Jack last year. Hue didn’t have any faith in him, so he didn’t get many balls all year. Hue has vowed to get him in the game. This is Year Three, so this is make-or-break. I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, going into Denver. But dude better start manning up, or else I’m going to have to break out my DHB reference again (DHB = Doesn’t Have the Balls to be a #1)

  198. J Hill Says:

I don’t think Al Davis cares more about DHB than winning the games.

If DHB is still #1 on the depth chart, at some point you are going to have to just accept that he is doing what the coaches are asking him to do.

    It’s that simple.

  199. J-Raider Says:

mcfadden targeted 61 times with 47 catches hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Woodson is pretty low key and pragmatic. Plus, he’s a rookie coach and has only seen these guys for a little less than two weeks. I don’t think he wants to set himself up for crucifixion just yet. Besides, he’s a Hall-of-Famer, so the bar is probably set pretty damn high!

  202. Try Some Reality Says:

I still have to laugh when I recall DHB outrunning that defender on the interception return as if to say “nah nah I’m faster than you!” He wasn’t interested in tackling the guy. Just outrunning him. Lol. Just a track guy folks.

  203. raidertbone Says:

i recall that being a fumble return.. dhb blew by the guy at the 20 yard line without even attempting to tack him. he was like 40 yards behind him and still beat him to the endzone..

Hopefully It won’t be like last time I went to Buffalo in 08′ When we had a decent lead in the 4th only to have Rob Ryan go into prevent mode. I remember being so pyched when JLH caught a quick slant and went the distance. I haven’t watched the raiders win a game live since the 90’s! Ouch! This time better be different. Last time I saw DMAC in Buffalo he was worthless, This time I hope he puts on a clinic! GO Raiders!
