No practice today, coach Jackson speaks at 5 p.m.

By Steve Corkran
Friday, August 12th, 2011 at 3:24 pm in Oakland Raiders.

The Raiders won’t practice again until Saturday in Napa. They were given the day off today so that they could rest from last night’s exhibition game against the Arizona Cardinals. That doesn’t mean there isn’t any Raiders news to pass along.

Coach Hue Jackson will speak with the media via conference call at 5 p.m. At that time, he is expected to provide updates on the status of wide receiver Chaz Schilens and safety Hiram Eugene, both of whom suffered injuries against the Cardinals.

Eugene suffered a dislocated hip and had to be carted off the field. His injury appears to be far more serious than the right knee injury suffered by Schilens at the tail end of an end around.

Schilens was worked on by a team trainer for several minutes behind the Raiders bench. He spent the rest of the night sitting on the bench. He looked fine when he walked from the locker room to the field in the second half.

Beyond that, the Raiders didn’t have any players who suffered any obvious injuries. Who knows, though? We shall find out shortly from coach Jackson.

The truth of the matter concerning Raider fans and an empty stadium is if they had never left town their fan base would be easily in the high 40,000 low 50,000 season ticket holders. When theyleft they lost an entire fan base. The people that go now are essentially a new fan base that is still somewhat fickle. When they win they come but the last 8 years will take at least 3 straight years of playoffs to undo. That stadium was full when Gruden took us to 3 staright division titles but the coaching changes and the losing has taken it’s toll.

    We have to WIN…………period

The other thing that hurt when it came to sell outs, was the stupid PSL licenses that were implemented when they came back to Oakland. It was a big turn off to fans and they way old man Al got rid of Gruden pissed a lot of the season ticket fan base off!

    FACT!

I totally agree. I was a season ticket holder from 1965 to when they left for LA. This is my first year back. The good news: You can now get some choice seats that in the past had to be inherited. The Raider organization seems to be going out of their way, administration personnel wise, to make sure your experience at the stadium is a pleasant one. The administrative & stadium staff is everywhere and very helpful and accommodating. They are to be commended.

We need to keep more O-linemen may carry only 2 TE 6 WR
Moore gets a spot. What about RB wheres Jones cant go to practice squad who you cut Bennett/Cartright.

    ^^^^^^^
Bennett should get cut without a doubt. He is older than Cartwright and he doesn’t contribute to special teams like Rock does.

    Rock is a keeper!

Cartwright can be that 3rd RB behind DMC and Bush if Jones is sent to IR.

I seems they always run Bennet in Pre-season more then the other backs he dont go down easily..

At least they are trying I guess.

It’s mainly Al Davis fault and his alone as to why the fan base that left isn’t buying season tickets.

I didn’t see the game and have been going over the comments for awhile. It is good to read some optimistic views from the semi pro’s. I won’t go through my complete wish list but I was really hoping for Barksdale to show up. Sounds like he did a decent job.
