Jarvis Moss has been one of my favorite players since he first got here and I saw the kids getoff. His getoff is as good as Derrick Burgess only he’s very long and athletic. This kid has a chance to be special he reminds me of Charles Haley. Here with Wauffle he is getting great coaching and he looks like his development is complete. Don’t be surprised if this kid gets between 8-12 sacks this year.

I don’t get the Wiz at LG yet. From what I have gleaned he has taken the least amount of snaps at LG. He has taken the most at RG & C. Plus he has more experience there. So I just don’t understand yet where LG is coming from.
Heyer has rec’d more 1st team reps at LG than Wiz.

We aren’t at practice the coaches are. We don’t see film from practice the coaches do. Let them form this team and you’ll be much happier, I don’t always agree with what they do I just don’t whine and cry about it like most of you…….because I defer to them if I see something I disagree with i give it the benefit of the doubt. I don’t go into this Al Davis excuse mode I take into consideration because I wnat to see why they disagreed.
You guys play teh scholarship card because you think You’re right and you know better. You are just a fan………..period

Either McFadden or Ware have to go from the secondary and we should keep Sterling Moore.
Aside from that we could probably chip away at Rock Cartwright or Sam Williams who are both purely special teams players at this point.

T’pin I think they want that LG spot that was vacated filled and Loper has bombed to their surprise. They want to keep Barksdale and BC on gthe right side thus the move to LG for Wiz because they feeel he can most successfully adapt to it in short order.

The thing most exciting is no one, i mean no one is expecting anything from this team. Baring injuries we have seen the best camp from these guys. Moreover, we have seen the best QB camp in a lot of years…
We have something special going on, RAIDER NATION need to get use to idea of winning…

Thats the dilemma as I see it now. Heyer has taken more 1st team reps at LG and looked pretty good in the preseason there.

Yeah and so Wiz and Heyer are battling for the starting position. Wiz has taken somewhat of a back seat at C and hue said he has to FIND a way to get him on the field. Thus the move to LG..

i believe tonga gives us some versatility in the backfield. he is a big back who can catch and rush. he did a good job of lead blocking and blitz pickup from what i remember. he is a good compliment for reece. i look at him the same way that the packers use john kuhn. he wont touch the ball as much as him but will be effective as a bully for our playmakers. he can also make a few plays himself. dmc/bush/jones/cartwright/reece/tonga is pretty deep.

If you don’t like the man, you might enjoy seeing his decline and think it’s something to joke about. Your comparative youth and vibrancy might even make you feel superior to him.

Either way, you should keep in mind that there’s only one alternative to aging and that one day you might cast a similar appearance.

That is awesome. Agreee 100%. You are absolutely correct and why some people get off trying to discredit Al really says more of them than it does of Al. There may come a time when they hope they can make it to 80.
Take KK for instance always posted his tripe about Als’ record. We know this, and he is not reminding anybody of what it is. But guess what, Raiders could be 12-4 this year.
Do I agree with Al? Lots of times and lots of times not. But he is the Raiders #1 man and he can do as he pleases.

In my opinion, this is the most interesting camp. Several good options at wide receiver that still has to be sorted out…..excited to see how Hue uses the running backs with all of them healthy to start the season for the 1st time!

i think we should look at some of these dts very closely. hendu/kelly/seymour are all 30 and up. bryant is the only young dt on the team. we need to begin the process of finding some young studs while these guys can still play. thats what the steelers do a good job of. they get their replacements on the roster years in advance so there isnt a dropoff.

Armond, very astute observation, I’ve had that in the back of my mind recently and look at that position and while it’s very talented they are all at or over 30 and that is a real concern. In next years draft we must address that issue early.
I really like what I saw in this years draft but next years draft at that position may be even better. There’s a kid at UW who’s an absolute beast he’s #74 when I was studying Locker I saw the kid. Watch him this year and tell me what you think.

Moore is definitely looking more solid than McFadden so far.
If he keeps making plays like he did in the first pre-season game it’ll be hard to cut him.

We have the youth in the DE position. It’s just DT that we’re going to need to recharge. Shouldn’t be too tough actually as if we get another young DE we could switch Lamarr Houston inside who is very versatile.
What we need is another good run STUFFER (like Henderson) as he probably won’t last many more seasons. I think Seymour and Kelly will be solid for at least a couple more years.

Top to bottom, I agree with most of your list. I would carry an extra running back (Rankin) and drop one of the receivers – six is plenty to carry. I would also like to see the Raiders keep Cartwright and Myers and perhaps S. Williams for Special Teams. I wouldn’t feel comfortable putting out a list like this until after the third preseason contest, but kudos for “sticking your neck out” a little.

Truth be told, our offensive line has to be our biggest concern at this point. Even Hue is confused and he’s trying different fits and combinations, etc etc., all in an effort to milk whatever may be left in some of these questionable dudes. Other than Veldheer,
who on our offensive line could be a starter on a top competitive team. I’m not sure, but I would say: NO ONE. Hope I’m wrong, hope someway, somehow, magic can be performed and the square pegs go into the square slots which accomodate them. Then, that they stay healthy and perform. Even Darren Mcfadden, as good as he is, needs some type of a hole to get that starting forward motion that he turns into big gains. If there
is a stone wall in front of him, he’s only human, he’ll crash and burn.

i agree 100%. ive felt for awhile now that houston will move inside when seymour is gone and we will need to get a speed rusher. we would still need another dt to play with him as u mentioned.

Big John has a limited gas tank. He’ll need to be replaced sooner than later. I asked a question a day or two ago about BCampbell and his viability as a DT. He has the size & strength and did play 2 years on the defensive side of scrimmage. Is DT a possible career path for him? He impresses me as someone who might fare well at stuffing runs given the right coaching. I’m not sure where his best value to the team may really lie. We can find useable guards but finding a top notch run stuffing DT is a much harder find.

Based on his play last week, it’s hard to believe WMAC is a lock.
I’m sure Steve has a reason for stating that he’s certainly going to make the squad. Obviously, (Hue !) Corkran gets to see the practices we don’t and is privy to what the coaching staff is thinking.
WMAC looked like a decent prospect during the preseason last year. I was pretty high on him. Then came the torching against Miami and last weeks game against the Cards.
Easy to sour on the guy, forget he’s still very raw and inexperienced, and write him off.
The staff has to see something we haven’t yet.
I remember the first preseason CJ37 played with the Raids. The announcers mentioned him and spoke about his speed. He looked TERRIBLE out there. I’m thinking to myself, ‘I don’t care how fast this cat is, he can’t play, and has no chance of making the squad or ever being any good’.
Turns out that CJ has had a pretty good career, and I now consider him one of the better corners in the NFL.

Nobody knows how the season will unfold. There are going to be surprises for sure, as there are every year. Injuries, ours and thiers. Officials and the bounce of the ball. I think we stand a better chance this year than in the last 8. Alot of the negative commenters could be eating crow in a few weeks. I hope for the best for every Raider! They’re on my team, I wish them all well. Why not us!

Gradkowski never made Camp worry only Cable did because he was stupid. The QB’s we have now backing up Camp are better than Grads. Edwards is easily a better QB than Grads and IMO so is Boller. Only you guys don’t know it. We’re better at that position and deeper than we have been in yearscertainly deeper than last year. Edwards looks like a bonfide starter. and Grads can’t even beat out a rookie in Cincy.

The Raiders will be as good as their O-line. The importance of having that line come together as a dominating unit can not be understated. This team has the serious potential of being almost unstoppable – as long as the O-line gets the job done correctly. Make the right choices HuJack on who goes where with the BIG UGLIES. This entire league is based on performance if anyone knows it Camp does you are only as good as your last game. The notion that he can’t handle competition is foolish what he can’t stand is a coach who has no clue what he’s doing. If Edwards beats him out he deserves to sit……….period
His testicles have sero to do with it it comes down to talent and execution. I like what I saw from Edwards he’s easily an upgrade over Grads and I for one am very glad of that fact.

Terrapin,if you read this-at Sundays practice Wiz was at LG and Heyer was at RT until he got hurt.After that,Barksdale was the RT.At least that is what Jer wrote in an article for the papers.I know a lot of people want Cooper replaced at RG,but I doubt that will happen,at least until B.Campbell gets healthy and some practice and experience under his belt.

You know what I want to see, Coffee Break? I want to see JC complete a bomb to DHB then run down to the CB, get in his face, and say “You want more? We’ll be here all day!”
Screw it, man. Take the unsportsmanlike. Just once. Sometimes a penalty is worth it. I bet the entire team would respond to a move like that.
Some folks here like to hate on Grads. Heck, I agree that he’s not the best option. The guy is lacking in the physical tools department and gets injured too easily. But one thing you have to give him credit for. The man knew how to fire up the troops. The only problem is he let it get to his head and started taking on defenders twice his size head on. lol. You have to be smart about it too.
They need to get cocky. Play the game like they own it. Take what they want. Make everyone hate them again.

Ryan Fitzpatrick took that same Buffalo O-line and foul situation and threw for 3,000 yards and 20+ TDs. Edwards went to Jax and looked terrible again despite Jones-Drew and a solid O-line.
It’s like blaming JC’s benchings in Washington on his situation (all-pro RB, TE, LT, quality WR). It’s the QB, not the “situation”.

All I care about is Hue builds a bully and JC has an attitude, and Seymour draws a technical now and then, and the o-line can open holes.
Anyone remember Plunkett q-bing against the bills in buffalo and a bills defender jumped off sides and decked plunk, and two raider o-lineman picked that basturd up and walked him 10 yards and body slammed him. those were tough raiders. I dont remember much else about that game.

Wisniewski may still crack the starting lineup for Week1, but at left guard instead of center.
Satele was re-signed by the team and has been taking snaps as the starting center while Wisniewski has practiced at left guard. Wisniewski is comfortable at both spots, having played both in college. He would replace Robert Gallery, who had gone from disappointment at tackle to the team’s most reliable offensive lineman at left guard.

I’ll be glad if we can sign Lofa. He can school some of our younger guys, even RoMac. An instant upgrade over Sam Williams.
The special teamers and gunners are overrated this year especially with the new kicking at the 35 yard line rule. Jano is gonna blast the recordbook and the kickoff team is just going to get some excercise jogging upfield and snarling. We can afford to go light on S/T only players.

Agree to a certain extent. a franchise QB has the ability to will his team to victory regardless of the supporting cast.
Peyton Manning or Tom Brady could have went 12-4 with an O-Line like Veldheer-Gallery-Satele-Carlisle-Walker and a WR Corps like Schilens-DHB-Murphy-Ford-Higgins
Jason Campbell went 8-8. That’s what you get with an average QB. You’re forced to upgrade EVERYBODY around him, instead of just him!

Gone: Tom Cable, Paul Hackett, Ted Tollner, Gradkowski, Higgins, Zmiller, Gallery, Henderson, Walker

I know we have a ton of DB’s but other than the starters i’m looking for someone to stand out and make some plays. DVD looks like a lock though.

I don’t understand why DVD is seen as a ‘lock’? Granted, he looked good in staying with maybe the best WR in football, but he didn’t make the play. On other throws to his side, he seemed like a spectator. Waiting for the guy to catch the ball and tackle him, rather than stepping up and breaking it up. He’s got a lot of learning to do. I want to keep him on the roster, but I don’t think his work is ‘lockworthy’.

And last year’s draft class, other than Houston I don’t see any guaranteed great players. Ford has some ability in the return game, but as a WRs hasn’t proven anything yet. You know I think McClain is average at best. Veldheer had tons of penalties and gave up a bunch of sacks.
Yeah, I think I will take a wait and see approach on all of those guys, and leave the going off the deep end to the rest of the Nation lol.

I don’t have a lot of support for DHB, he’s shown nothing in his time here. But I have supreme confidence in our HC, Hue Jackson. I don’t think it’s a puppet move to start DHB. If he thinks he’s ready, I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. But if DHB fails again, my confidence in Hue Jackson having control of this franchise will erode. He’ll just be another of Al’s minions that was an imposter coach. DHB is gonna make or break Hue.

the fact that a team that has won about 3 dozen games over the past 8 years is year in and year out near the cap limit is pathetic. Frankly, it truly proves Al’s complete incompetence as a GM. If you were an investor would you be happy with that return?

I didn’t expect much when our players got old after the SB run. A couple years of being bad was to be expected.
I thought the Randy Moss trade was a damn good one, at the time it was made. I thought we had some decent talent on the field with Collins, Moss, Jordan, etc. Thought Norv should’ve been able to put up some points.
I WAS beating a drum for a “New GM” after the bed and breakfast debacle and the Sarkisian mess. Was pretty excited when Al hinted in a presser that he had been working with someone and thought he needed a full time GM. Thought the whole Cable hiring was a JOKE!
BUT …
I can admit that the last few drafts and this current coaching staff SEEM to have us heading in the right direction. Not really sure how much more you can ask of a GM.
And yes we do still need someone in place to take over for Al. I say that simply due to apparent health issues.

I like Ford and I have high hopes for him, but wake me when he at least matched James Jett’s rookie numbers.
In 1 start and limited action his rookie year Jett had 33 receptions for 771 yards and 3 TDs…Ford in 9 starts had 25 receptions, 470 yards and 2 TDs.

The difference is that Branch wasn’t a top ten pick making top ten money. If DHB can hold his own in the pecking order, then fine. I have no problem with that. But if keeping him in the lineup as OTJ training is keeping a guy like Moore on the bench, it will be Hue’s undoing.

Clearly Cable’s affinity for Justin Fargas & Kwame Harris, and allowing McFadden only 7 carries per game and his horrible play calling had an profound affect on McFadden’s first couple of years.

Uncle Al always fields a team that looks good on paper. imo, That’s what a GM is supposed to do.
Obviously, sometimes coaches and players don’t hold up their end of the bargain. I’d like to think that we are on the edge of respectability, and a few holes away from greatness – But I can understand the wait and see approach after the long stint of disappointments.

And it makes even more sense to cut Chaz this season, because of the shortened preseason. We don’t have time to get into our groove by the 4th week. By then, the season could be over. We need to have our “A” group of wideouts ready and in sync/chemistry with Soup. That had to happen yesterday, not today..or tommorrow. Clocks ticking, season is very short. The coaching staff should be impatient imo. They need to be ramped up starting now.

That isnt on our captains. The ref even appologized to Hue during halftime saying he should have asked for clarification. Besides, how many people actually know that if you chose to Kickoff that the other team gets to chose in the second half? If you chose to receive, the other team doesnt have the option to chose in the second half, they automatically receive.

I really like the fact our first two preseason games are against 3-4 defenses and then against a 4-3 vs NO. It will give us even more evaluation angles for the upcoming season……Denver 4-3 will stink but our next 4 games vs Buf,NYJ,NE and Houston are all blitzing 3-4 defenses

I know there was a lot of talk about the nuber of 3-4 defenses we played last year and how we’d do.
Our record against division 3-4s (one of which was awful, one good, one great) was 6-0.
STL and Seattle both 4-3.
As far as losses — Steelers, Miami (I think), SF were 3-4.
I think the issue of 3-4 v. 4-3 is not a significant one. We were some minor adjustments away from a W in SF and against Miami.

Uhm Karlos Dansby showed he could be a productive player from the start of his rookie year and was franchised twice. Eric Weddle had 127 tackles in his 2nd season and had 10 passes defended last year. Schaub and Kolb are both qb’s different rules apply to them but they both showed something as backups, and imo that Kolb contract was a bad deal.

I was talking to a coworker yesterday about Al mulling the move back to L.A. He’s thinning out his payroll. That’s one sign. (remember that the salary cap is based on overall salary, not what players are actually paid…a lot of Raider contracts don’t pay out until later years, assuming the player is still with the team). It really does look as if the Raiders are gutting everything and preparing for some kind of smooth transition. Even if that’s the case, I think he’s dreaming. LA will never have him. Nobody will. Like I said yesterday…as long as Al’s in charge of the Raiders, the NFL powers that be are keeping him on that island in east Oakland.

Why aren’t we looking at a solid vet receiver (TJ, maybe?), a CB (Hayden, maybe?) and a safety (Sharper is still out there, no?). Older guys, yes (aside from Hayden), but we have depth problems in secondary and an experience gap at WR. Nah, I guess we’ll just let the Pats snatch them all up while we stand pat with a roster that was 8-8 last year.

Why aren’t we looking at a solid vet receiver (TJ, maybe?), a CB (Hayden, maybe?) and a safety (Sharper is still out there, no?). Older guys, yes (aside from Hayden), but we have depth problems in secondary and an experience gap at WR.

Nnamdi’s jersey should be on discount. Also, I heard from the guy in Raider Image in Concord that this is Reeboks last year doing the jerseys for the NFL. Next year Nike will be taking over. That came up because I asked the guy if he knew when they’ll be selling the Boss jersey. He told me that I wold have to custom make it, then told me that story about Reebok and Nike!

You don’t find many wide receivers with Schilens’ combination of size, speed, route-running and great hands. Worth the wait.

Wouldnt be a bad investment. The Nnamdi distaste will wear off after we go to the playoffs these next few years, and wearing a Nnamdi jersey down the line will be no different than wearing a Woodson jersey. I still have a Woodson authentic that I bought for $40 after he left, and at the time no one wanted to touch one, but now, wearing a clean authentic Woodson is a win. Itll be the same for a Nnamdi 5 years from now. Might as well cop, unless you dont plan on being a Raiders fan in 5 years, which Im sure isnt the case.

This Ryan Fitzpatrick is not a bad QB for the Bills we have to find a way to get in his face his game is short quick throws. He’s a smart accurate guy with a real sense of how to attack a defense. Pressure up the gut is the key make him move his feet and throw.

I always liekd Jerry since he was a rookie. I used to encourage him whe he was struggling as a rookie when I saw how good he might be I told him man you are going to be scary good. Truth is he became even better than I thought he would be.

Incumbent center Samson Satele has played so well in practice and in Oakland’s first exhibition game the Raiders are contemplating making room for both players.
Wisniewski played mostly guard in college, which makes it a logical decision to have him begin his NFL career there, too. Jackson said he wants to go with his five best offensive linemen, regardless of their natural positions. He feels as if Satele and Wisniewski are among those five.
Notes: Jackson is thrilled with how well quarterbacks Trent Edwards and Kyle Boller have performed the first two-plus weeks of camp. Carlisle is 34 years old.B.Campbell is no doubt his replacement.That would give us a very talented line that is also very young that hopefully would stay together for a long time.Wouldn’t have to read the nonsense about bringing in an exp. vet every year.Our WRs are the same.The last thing this team needs is an old,over the hill,me first ‘vet’ WR that would do nothing but take plays away from some of our young,talented WRs.

Jamarcus Russell didn’t start right away. Was benched 5 games into year 3.
McFadden didn’t start his first 2 years behind Fargas.
I still say MM34 is a high draft pick and an example of Al’s reaching. He’s not starting either.

Ahh, fresh off another masterful beat down of Brian the Genital – and really, is there any other kind? – I called up a few German Bikini Models I met last night on the Reggae Party Boat.

I dont think you are listening bruh….it takes two years to be 100 pct from a ACL injury….this is known. Remember Eric Allen’s 1998 acl injury? He gave up hella TDs in 99 but bounced back in 2000…..wonder why?

J, Russell held out, McFadden got injured, and Mike Mitchel plays behind Branch, who is apparently one of Al’s favorites.
I think because he was such a reach is why he wants to showcase him and prove everyone he’s still got it.
If he can get a starting LT in the 3rd from Hillsdale, a group of solid, young WRs in 4th, 5th, 7th round, steal LaMarr Houston in the second, steal Wimbley for a 3rd (although we did end up paying for him eventually), get ShoNasty in the 3rd or 4th — I think the old man can still draft. He’s just not afraid of a project in any round.

At least we ahve the tools for and outstanding Oline but now we have assemble it a nd let it gel. The best Olines aren’t the most talented but the most cohesive. Indy’s line has subpar talent but they are so cohesive they perform much better than the sum of their parts.
I feel the coaching and handling of JC is going to bode very well if he has time. I saw long flashes of higlevel performance from JC last year unfortunately it was late in the year and intermingled to an extent with lessthan stellar play. Saunders comment that he came here because of Camp shed soem seriou light on the kids talent. This offense is not for the faint of the faint of heart or those incapable of making impressive throws. You have to be able to make some stick throws because it doesn’t get players wide open like the WCO it provides for favorable matchups but not the 3 yard passes to a wide open WR. You gave to play QB in the old sense of the word.
Many here speak in terms of JC being a game manager well that may be true but in this offense he has to make some throws. Checkdowns are available but it ask the QB to make throws downfield with some real accuracy. that’s why when I read Saunders commensts it opened my eyes a bit. Because I definitely see his ability to do it. I’ve been brainwashed to a certain extent to believe he is more of a safe passer (checkdown artist) well Saunders comments belie that assumption. I watched the agme again and watched JC read and I see exectly what he means. He throws the dig route as well as anyone. That throw he made to DMoore was a perfect example of that. It was accurate and on time and that route is a staple of the verticle game. Along with the route that #6 ran for Edwards which is a deep post. JC threw that vs the Chiefs at home in OT to Ford and won the game.
IOW he definitely ahs it in him he just needs to players around him and the system to help him exploit it. This just might be the right time the right players and the right coaches. So we’ll see….

We can all see the Moore is going to be on the field a lot.
If DHB is simply doing what he did in the Az game, he’s going to be on the field to.
If he drop 2 outta the first 3 passes thrown his way, he’ll get less snaps.
It’s that simple.

Some are too concerned with who starts and who doesn’t.If one guy starts and comes out after the 1st series then someone else goes in and plays 2-3 time more plays,what difference does it make who starts.As the saying goes it is more important who finishes than who starts.

The talent at WR is all we should worry about the coaches will handle who starts or who doesn’t if we didn’t have talent I’d be worried. Talent always wins out that’s why Dmoore is getting what he’s getting and that’s why Ford got what he got. Moore played with th efirst team last week maybe you guys didn’t notice that. He was on the field with the starters. When Chaz and Ford and Murphy are healthy who satrts will take care of itself……….period

He sure was his rookie year.
But I think we’ll have a nice little rotation going on at WR this year. I’m one of these cats that think DHB could still turn out to be a good WR.
He has great speed, obviously, good route runner, great blocker, hard worker, chip on his shoulder.
He needs to have more fluidity. In particular catches while on the move. He can go up and reach for em, and he can get them when he sits down in between a zone, but his game is not yet complete.

DHB gets special treatment because he’s a drafting black eye for Davis, and Davis wants every chance to have the last laugh if DHB can turn into a better player than Crabtree. To let DHB go is to admit defeat. Don’t think that’s not a part of Huff’s resigning as well.
Too bad, because Davis as a GM deserves more credit than he gets. If he’s fumbled the first round a few times this decade, he KILLS it in the middle rounds: Bush, Branch, Shaughnessy, Veldheer, Ford, Moore.
