    ********
It was a critical first down, and it Bounced off his hands! And I thought he was supposed to be a WR! Can’t block, can’t protect, can’t catch – Oh but he’s fast so he’s a lock. So much for, “It’s all about performance on the Field”.

At least Gordon can block! If Ausberry doesn’t play this week, put him on the PS!

Some big blocker type should. We should be able to sink it in from two yards out like it’s automatic! None of these track stars help us do that.

It just doesn’t seem to be a position they value very much. Seems as if they’d rather go with a guy who can be another weapon coming out of the backfield than a traditional lead blocker. I haven’t seen Tonga do anything impressive enough to change the coaches’ minds about that.

    ===========================

You have missed the point. The tight end position in this offense is going to post 60-80 catches. Ausberry and boss will both have lots of opportunity. boss was paid because he is a veteran and a very good player, this in no way precludes from ausberry seeing the field. we often will see twp tights in at the same time, this especially the case because of boss’s versatility being able block and catch. Ausberry causes match up problems as well. Who covers him a db or a lb?

If the defense tries to put more dbs on the field to counter our double tight set, we can run right over them. If they try to cover either of our tights with lb, we burn them in the passing game.

Sprinkle in marcel reece and the defense has no clue whats coming based on the personnel or formation. this is why you will see major production from this spot. We have upgraded the position exponentially, and suanders hu jack and jc love to get the ball to the tight ends.

    any other questions?

  83. RaiderRetribution Says:

I still see the Raiders either trading or cutting one of these three linemen, Mr. Carlisle, Mr. Loper , or Mr. Barnes for three reasons:

    1) performance or rather lack thereof based on their experience, which leads us to the next on,
    2) salaries – Loper & Carlisle are each getting paid over $2 million, too much for a backup and I expect either Mr. Campbell, Mr. Wisniewski, or Mr. Heyer (only 1. something million) to unseat at least one of these players, same for Mr. Barksdale unseating Mr. Barnes, which leads to the third reason,
    3) development of the youth.

4th reason which could apply to Barnes is the blocking abilities of Mr. Boss and Mr. Gordon, especially the rookie, if he makes the team, Barnes asset as a 3rd or 4th blocking TE is diminished.

    Yes, I have 1, or 4.

Are we going to pass more than we did last year?

    any other questions?

    ——————————————————

    Yes, I have 1, or 4.

Could you give us a bit more clarification as to how you feel the TE position will get 80 catches?

Are we going to pass more than we did last year?

Are you suggesting that we are going to run more 2 TE sets?

If our TEs are going to catch 80 passes, how many will DHB, Ford, Moore catch?
    ================================

Yes we will pass more. Im not sure if anyone has noticed but our passing attack is evolving. I am certain one of the main reasons for hu jack and Saunders being hired was to upgrade the passing game and improve the play and further develop our struggling receivers.

We have already seen in the first to pre season games Jc throwing the ball to every part of the field. the short flat the deep seams, the short seams, sideline routes ans so on. We have even seen them spread in the shotgun in goal line. you have seen DHB beginning to blossom.

We have seen all of this in very small sample sizes and with out many of our weapons on the field.

One of JC’s major strengths is his ability to spread the ball around, everyone will get touches.

last year teams ganged up on the run this year they wont have that option.

Players that retire do not become free agents unless the team they were under contract for when they retire releases them. Just as the Jets had to release Favre before he could go to Minny.

Otherwise disgruntled players all over the NFL would be retiring, and then unretiring and signing with a new team. The team holds their rights until the years on the contract have been satisfied.

    ==================================

I never said anything about ausberry starting over boss, or the hall of fame.

My statement was simple, he and boss will both have big years. Ausberry has wr speed and hands at an unbelievable size. Just like marcel reece he is a match up nightmare. The fact that he was drafted in rd 7 means nothing. the fact is that when he or boss or both are on the field the defense doesnt know if it run or pass.

If you know suanders he throws to the tight ends, and uses a lot of two tight sets. Hu jack did it last year as well.

Really dont see why this is hard to understand.

  168. CJ Legend 34 Says:

J Hill it is not that easy. So far TJ has not done anything live and seeing that he has a history of fumbles and injury I would not make that call any time soon. Did you watch any of the pre season games so far? did you see the td catch where he dragged his toes? we havent seen that here in years and you think davis hu jack and suanders are drooling? What TJ really meant, as usual, is our 7th round pick will lead the NFL it receptions, receiving yards, TDs by a tight end, pancake blocks by a TE, most pancake blocks in the NFL, most receptions over 20 yards, most receptions over 40 yards (OMG he is big and fast) most kickoff returns for TD, most punt returns for a TD, most fumble recoveries, most fumble recoveries for TDs and most pro bowls in one season (5).

    Posted by Mike Florio (PFT)

Not long ago, receiver Terrell Owens showed off his new ACL for a video camera. He thereafter said he’ll be ready to play by Week Two or Week Three.

Now, it’s not looking quite so optimistic.

Owens, who continues to pursue his acting career while his knee heals, told the Associated Press that he is a couple of months away from being ready to play. Owens nevertheless is confident that, when he’s ready, teams will be interested.

“I’m still not 100 percent to be able to go to a team and contribute,” Owens said. “When I get to the point to where I’m comfortable and able to run around, I’ll feel like those calls should be coming.”

You guys ever see Family Guy where they have the two foreign dudes that almost sound American?

  265. LA to TheBay Says:

Stewie: Brian, this is painful. It’s like listening to those two foreign guys down at the coffee shop who’ve been living in the US almost long enough to sound American.

    (scene cuts to coffee shop)

Guy #1: Oh man, what a good bunch of partying at that disco-tech. They played one of my audience requests.

Guy #2: Way awesome! I myself drank like five liters of beer. Any more and I would have ended up in hospital man.

Guy #1: Oh you said it friend, but I wanted to stay, because I almost had sex on this girl.

Guy #2: Oh yeah, but it was so expensive. Each drink was like six dollars forty!

  266. LA to TheBay Says:

    Later, Nation.

    Be good.

  267. Sullivan44 Says:

Doesn’t surprise me that Al’s Grunt Nation would flood me with personal insults for saying it, but I’ll repeat it again, just because I know it’s music to their ears.

Nnamdi Asomugha was not only our best player, he was also a ROLE MODEL. That is huge.

Being a role model doesn’t just mean staying out of trouble. And, by all means, you don’t have to be a role model if you don’t want to. It’s strictly voluntary.

I have no problem with a player who just keeps to himself, as well. Heck, I don’t even have a problem with players who get into trouble, as long as they don’t commit acts of violence or abuse, especially on women.

But a role model is special. When you have a role model who’s as good of a player as Nnamdi is, they truly have the power to make change in a lot of peoples’ lives.

Al didn’t just hurt the Raiders by letting Nnamdi go (we’re used to that, aren’t we?), he hurt the entire bay area.

  269. JLofty Says:

Not Al’s job to provide role models. Not for $25mil or whatever Philly gave Nnamdi. I love the guy, thought he was a great player and even better human but, if it were MY money and MY team, I wouldn’t have paid the man that.

  271. JLofty Says:

    Philly needs role models too.

  272. Sullivan44 Says:

JLofty, agreed. It’s not Al’s job to provide role models. But Asomugha still was one. And the bay area hurts without him. He meant a lot to a lot of kids in the bay area. Al Davis has the right to run his business however he wants, and I have the right to criticize how he runs it.

Oh, btw, Al Davis’s job is in fact to win, and turn a profit so that his franchise isn’t a drag on the rest of the league. And in the past decade, he’s failed miserably at both.

  273. Sullivan44 Says:

    JLofty,

I could be like you and say that it’s not the Philadelphia Eagles’ job to provide role models, just as an easy way out of the argument. But instead I’ll recognize your point. You’re right. Phily is going to benefit greatly from Nnamdi’s presence. But Oakland’s going to hurt without it.

  274. Sullivan44 Says:

Mistic, I’m not certain about the details of Nnamdi’s discussions with the Raiders. And until you can provide us with audio, video, or authenticated transcripts, neither are you.

  275. The Oracle Says:

    Sullivan,
I regret that the Raiders parted ways with Nnamdi because yes, he was a good leader (by example) and he held his position down. Then, I consider the fact that we are not paying 12 mil a year to have him. Knowing the team may use that liquidated cash flow on other sorely needed resources and that when he was here we went nowhere, the sting is alleviated. Yes, there will be times this season that we will wish he was in Silver and Black, but I feel that it will be short-lived.

Terrelle Pryor officially joins the Raiders

    Posted by Mike Florio (PFT)

More than three days after he was selected by the Raiders in round three of the supplemental draft, quarterback Terrelle Pryor has officially joined the team.

Per a league source, Pryor and the Raiders have agreed on a four-year deal.

Pryor is now with the team in California.

We’d heard some scuttlebutt this afternoon that the Raiders had been low-balling Pryor on guaranteed money. Pryor made it clear during a Tuesday appearance on PFT Live that he’s not really concerned about the money, and so it’s possible that the Raiders tried to use this against him. Usually, however, the Raiders don’t pinch pennies.

UPDATE: Pryor receives a $586,000 signing bonus, and a base salary of $375,000 (pre-suspension). In 2012, he’ll earn $485,000, and he’s eligible to earn a $20,300 incentive based on playing time. In 2013, the salary is $595,000 with a $40,700 play-time incentive. In 2014, the salary moves to $645,000, with a $61,100 play-time incentive.

    Keep the positives coming!

  392. BeAlwaysUrselfCommittingtoExcellence2011 Says:

Hahahahaha yeah Right…JC wins more throws more tds…scores more ts….he does everything better than Grad

  393. Sullivan44 Says:

Brien, you score with a woman! Talking on the phone with a girl about who she hooked up with doesn’t quite count. It’s not even in the dugout, let alone first base. You chump.

  394. Sullivan44 Says:

JC does everything better than Grads but play QB. We can see the games from last year. Other than the KC game, Campbell sucked. Grads was our only spark. Remember Pittsburgh?

  395. BeAlwaysUrselfCommittingtoExcellence2011 Says:

Who called the plays last year? Who ran the offense? Who was demoted from calling lays? Shut uP MR….im killin u

  396. Sullivan44 Says:

Who was the head coach last year?

    What’s his name?

    Hint: NOT Hue Jackson.

Tom Cable was the Head Coach last year. Are you disputing that? Does your plutonic friend have to hook up with Cable too to understand that?

  397. BeAlwaysUrselfCommittingtoExcellence2011 Says:

MR u are a self admitted virgin…and the bz told me face to face….try try and try again lol

  398. BeAlwaysUrselfCommittingtoExcellence2011 Says:

Head coach doesnt design nor gameplan for the offense in 2010….it was the OC….this is common knowledge

  399. BeAlwaysUrselfCommittingtoExcellence2011 Says:

MR….in 09 u made a mockery of cable’s playcalling now u giving him credit? Stop it…u making yourself look worse

  400. Sullivan44 Says:

I’m a self admitted virgin? When the hell did I say that? You did say however that you had a little gal friend down in L.A. who threw herself at Nnamdi. Of course Nnamdi didn’t want her because a dude on his level only messes with top notches.

  401. J Hill Says:

Have the Ravens just got old?

  402. Sullivan44 Says:

Tom Cable was the head coach last year. Whatever play Hue Jackson chose, was approved by Cable.

  403. BeAlwaysUrselfCommittingtoExcellence2011 Says:

Grad a spark? He lost last season….Campbell never lost back to back games and won 3 straight games….did grad? Next

Have the Ravens just got old?

    ??????????????????????????????????????????

    old and beatable

  405. BeAlwaysUrselfCommittingtoExcellence2011 Says:

Dummy….Hue only answered to Al not Cable u fool. Cable had no involvement in ppplaycalls….this is fact

  406. Just Fire Baby Says:

Speaking of Tom Cable, anyone catch dude on the sidelines in his last game?

Guy has a gold chain hanging out, a rock in his ear (never seen a coach with an earring), a pinky ring, and XXXXL shirt untucked hanging below his kneecaps.

My man is taking it to a whole new level.

  407. Sullivan44 Says:

Campbell is slow, lanky, has no awareness whatsoever when under pressure. His inability to get rid of the football on that goal line play was inexcusable. He’s horrible. If Gradkowski were in that play, that’s 6.

  408. BeAlwaysUrselfCommittingtoExcellence2011 Says:

Cable the guy who u said last year was a lame duck coach….now u saying he had the power lol

  409. Just Fire Baby Says:

Cam Newton looks inferior to Andy Dalton right now.

    3 for 12?? Seriously??

Will Cam ever be able to complete 55% of his passes??

    Not sure.

  410. J Hill Says:

    JFB,

So how is Flacco looking to you in his 2nd year without Hue?

  411. BeAlwaysUrselfCommittingtoExcellence2011 Says:

Hmmm i noticed grad had more turnovers than tds in his career and isnt accurate and is a loser lol

  412. Sullivan44 Says:

The only reason every defense we faced last year didn’t blitz Campbell every down is because of Cable and the way Cable liked to leave running backs in the flat. Wait till this year, now that we’re running the vertical again, and our RBs just block. Campbell’s getting blitzed every down. He is yet to demonstrate he can handle the blitz, Brien. That was proven last year. Like I said, the only reason nobody blitzed him was because of that Cable/Kiffin offense which at least left safety valves against the Blitz, even though Campbell is too dumb and slow to even get the ball to them.

  413. J Hill Says:

Guy has a gold chain hanging out, a rock in his ear (never seen a coach with an earring), a pinky ring, and XXXXL shirt untucked hanging below his kneecaps.

Grad tearing it up in Cincy eh? lol…a rookie with not OTAs in his life starts over grad

  415. Just Fire Baby Says:

So how is Flacco looking to you in his 2nd year without Hue?

    *************************

Has his 2nd year started yet??

Sure looked a lot better in the playoffs last year than those wretched performances the years before.

  416. Just Fire Baby Says:

  418. BeAlwaysUrselfCommittingtoExcellence2011 Says:

  420. BeAlwaysUrselfCommittingtoExcellence2011 Says:

  421. BeAlwaysUrselfCommittingtoExcellence2011 Says:

    Jhill….ooooh u trapped him lol

  422. J Hill Says:

So AIG doesn’t call you until 9pm on a weeknight, eh?

  423. Just Fire Baby Says:

Not really. Maybe on here to just keep the semi-pro juices flowing.

QB’s don’t start making their hay until after Turkey day (as long as you are at or near .500)

I thought I was the only guy on his team???!!!???

I coulda swore I was trying to tell you how he only got beat on one play against Pitts, and I didn’t understand why we didn’t see any more of him the rest of the season.

Anyway, I do agree that he is much more physical and aggressive than McFadden and has been since last preseason. I even thought they might move him to S this year. Him or Chekwa was my choice for that.

  450. BeAlwaysUrselfCommittingtoExcellence2011 Says:
