Update on injuries to WR Ford and FS Huff

By Steve Corkran
Tuesday, September 13th, 2011 at 3:00 pm in Oakland Raiders.

Raiders coach Hue Jackson just wrapped up his news conference with the Bay Area media in Alameda.
Among the many topics he addressed, Jackson said wide receiver Jacoby Ford suffered a hamstring injury and free safety Michaell Huff came away from the Broncos game with a strained groin.
Jackson said he won’t update the injuries until later in the week.
I’m covering for beat writer Jerry McDonald today, as he returns from Denver and prepares for a short week before the Raiders travel to Buffalo for a game against the Bills.
Therefore, I will be working on a story for the paper first before I file a story off Jackson’s news conference. The players were off today.
Practice will resume Wednesday morning, with the Raiders flying to Buffalo on Friday afternoon.

    Unreal…

    I DO LOVE IT!!!

    ^^^^^^^
One thing I did not like seeing last night was the use of the shotgun in the red zone.

If they do that, I would like to see more inside handoffs or fake inside handoffs to keep the defense honest!

JB Leonard Davis would be big but it wouldn’t be good. Davis is done his lateral movement is gone. If you wn at JC running for his life get that guy. I say we stay with what we have and keep biulding through the draft. Our line aint the best but it aint bad by any stretch. This is the NFL pressure will be there some teams have dynamic edge rushers like Denver will give you fits. The Jets gave up sacks NE gave up sacks the Steelers gave up sacks it happens. Just keep biulding through the draft because it’s working.

Score TD’s and call high percentage plays in the red zone!
    ————-

I think they need to get Campbell on the move more. He can score with his feet. Doesn’t seem to find open receivers in time when he stays in the pocket

    ^^^^^^^^
Agreed move him out of the pocket in the red zone or get the ball into DMC’s hands!

DMC should the 1st and 2nd options in the red zone!

“Rolando McClain didn’t make any tackles! He sucks!”

You guys do realize that Denver only ran the ball 13 times, right?

You may also want to remember that it’s McClain who makes the defensive calls and ensures that everyone’s lined up where they’re supposed to be and knows what they’re supposed to be doing. In his second year as an NFL player.

    McClain sucks. Riiiiight.

  • inonewordraider

by the way we need to give Desmond Bryant some love. I see why TKelly proclaimed him the strongest man pound for pound on the team guy was handleing two blockers and this coming from an UDFA defensive end. Nice job Al

The WildCat, is just a formation to keep the defense guessing and mind screw them even more with the amount of weapons on offense the D has.

I like it….cause they are using it as a decoy basically.

Based on that Davis information I’d then say just get Barksdale in there and we’d have our OT’s established for the next 8-10 years. I also really want to get BCampbell in at the ORG position. He’s got the power to overcome his newness to the position plus he’d fortify the center of the line while having the potential of becoming a Gene Upshaw type of pulling guard. The quicker we get this line formalized the better.

Post #232, that’s a bold statement for one game against a guy that hadn’t played on two years & got hurt. . .

Now that future contracts are not guaranteed perhaps the Raiders will entertain the possibility of signing Flozell Adams to man the RT tackle debacle & Tully Banta-Cain to potentially take over for Groves @ the WILL.

Perhaps now the Raiders will activate a TRUE possession receiver (Hagan) & give Campbell a true third down option. Boss coming back (perhaps next week?) will definitely be an upgrade @ the TE. These additions will do nothing but improve the confidence of Campbell.

    ^^^^^^^^^
Raiders need to pund the rock heavily next week with some biiiiiig BUSH!!

Of course DMC and Jones will see action. Next week though should be the BUSH show!

They need to wear down that DLINE and LB corp of Buffalo and then JC can get spread the ball out to the speedy WR’s and throw some screens to DMC and Jones.

They need to keep mixing up those sets and keep the Bills D off balance!

I’m watching the Jets on NFLN and I’m telling ya’ we can run on them. There is no doubt in my mind we can run on them. I also think we can beat them deep and I know they’re a great team and everything but by the time we play them I think we’ll be ready to handle them.

  • TerrapinRaider

Man Meyers messed up again…didn’t block Von Miller at all. Not even a chip. Let him run right. VM disrupted DMC on a pitch left which DMC got around for a 3yd loss ..couldve been worse.

    ——————————————————

So which one of the 3rd down options from last night would Hagan replace?

  • priesttj

Guys the plan wasn’t to air it out last nite when will some of you figure that out. Denver’s pass rush is to rich and their run defense stinks why heave a bunch passes whe it was evident we could beat them playing good defense and running. Why chance a bunch of sacks when you don’t have to??

  • SR Raider

oakland’s game plan is to stretch you horizontally, then gash you up the middle. throw in some play action deep now and again for the quick score

  • http://ibabuss.com antispy3

Desmond Bryant, our resident Ivy leaguer (Harvard).

DKnight007, we pound the rock with the best stable of RB’s in the league. We even have a RB that is a special teams ace.

So, yes, a multiple UNPREDICTIBLE offense is a key ingredient in the making of a Bully. . .all ingredients were not available in Denver. Perhaps more toys avail tmenselves Sunday. . .

  • http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/526101/AlDavis1_medium.jpg KoolKell

Campbell completed 13 passes against the Broncos. Only one of those was caught more than 9 yards past the line of scrimmage, a 17-yarder to wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey that was caught 16 yards downfield.

jc has to be more confident in himself to throw the ball downfeild…to be a true winner u have to believe in yourself that you WILL win….you have to believe that it is YOU that will take this team to the top..and ive yet to see that attitude..look at the top qbs in the league..they all believe theyre better than the rest…and if campbell can start having that train of thought..the raiders will be that much better

  • joker94583

Don’t need Huff anyway with Boyd & Gio. Ford was a joke last night and the running game and the D bailed out Campbell. Nor to mention Jano. Maybe Al will realize the only real WR the team has is Hagan. Totally undisciplined team. 18 penalties? They can get away with that crap vs. Denver or KC but not vs. the rest of the schedule. Not too impressed really, Denver is horrible.

  • Teflon30

We won the game…on enemy turf…on week #1. Why are people complaining. Sure we could have played better, but that what happens with a shortened mini-camp and no offseason OTA’s…We Won the game…now lets focus on buffalo and stop worrying about the broncos. Church !!!
