DHB, Boss inactive
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Sunday, September 18th, 2011 at 8:57 am in Oakland Raiders.
Wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey and tight end Kevin Boss were among the inactives for today’s game against Buffalo.
Heyward-Bey tweaked a knee during the week, and Boss, although he practiced during the week and was optimistic about facing Buffalo, apparently has not recovered sufficiently.
Other inactives were WR Jacoby Ford, WR Louis Murphy, OT Stephon Heyer and TE David Ausberry.
Heyer, who had a knee injury, was playing in packages with extra linemen, a formation the Raiders figured to use against Buffalo in part because the Bills ranked 32nd against the run in 2011 and because the Raiders are think at wide receiver with Ford, Heyward-Bey and Murphy out.

Bruce Campbell active??
Will he see the field on something other than extra points today?
September 18th, 2011 at 9:02 am
I wonder what Boss’s problem was? All reports said he was good to go. Hope he did regress and re-injure that knee. He’s simply too important not to be playing. They better get Ausberry up to snuff so that he can backfill Boss. Meyers just isn’t getting it done.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:02 am
Someone posted this before, but …
Sites to watch the game?
September 18th, 2011 at 9:03 am
Now’s the chance for D Moore to step up an prove that he belongs.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:03 am
PFT just updated the Raiders Inactive list just now to this:
Raiders at Bills
Raiders – WR Louis Murphy, WR Jacoby Ford, S Mike Mitchell, T Stephon Heyer, WR Darrius Heyward-Bey, TE David Ausberry, TE Kevin Boss
September 18th, 2011 at 9:03 am
The knock on Boss leaving the Giants was that he was starting to get injury prone, at a pretty young age.
Being that nobody but the Raiders really offered him much in FA, may lead a little concern there.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:04 am
crap, was looking forward to seeing Boss…
September 18th, 2011 at 9:04 am
TE play has to be better today than last week.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:05 am
Do you have a link to back that allegation up JFB?
September 18th, 2011 at 9:05 am
Ausberry is out too? What a load. We better have a devastating running game today. Starting WR probably Schilins & NMiller with D-WOW in the slot. Getting short on WR’s & TE’s
September 18th, 2011 at 9:06 am
Pulling out my crystal ball and seeing Kim Newton committing 4 or 5 turnovers today.

His name is Kam
September 18th, 2011 at 9:07 am
That phrase injury prone gets thrown around a bit too often mayne.
Boss took a helmet to the knee. I don’t think that counts in the injury prone category.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:07 am
Expect to see some swing passes to D-Mac & Bush and some post patterns to Reece.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:07 am
I guess we’re going to see a whole bunch of Run DMT today…
Playing with DHB was like playing 10 on 11 anyway.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:07 am
whos gonna play RT?
September 18th, 2011 at 9:09 am
We may see TJones today also with all these injuries.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:09 am
With Ford and DHB out, the Raiders lose the ability to vertically stretch the field.
It will be imperative for Campbell to make smart plays in the passing game.
Boss took a helmet to the knee and that sh!t hurts. He will be needed more against tougher run defenses later in the year so they are taking their time with him.

So I take it Hagan is suiting up.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:13 am
More important to have Boss, DHB, and Ford ready to play in that 3 game stretch of NY, Pats, Texans.
Meyers and Gordon are excellent run blockers. Our running game is going to be just fine.
Our defense will lead the charge today and hold Buffalo to 13 points. I’m even looking for Branch to pick one and take it to the house.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:14 am

i think hue is getting the team ready for the jets and pats in the next 2 weeks. i dont think he wants to rush guys 2 early for buffalo. winning in denver took some pressure off cuz they will atleast be 1-1 for the first home game. we still should be able to beat buffalo. have no doubt that we will win this game. surprised ausberry is inactive which means we have only 2 te’s 2day.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:16 am
This will be a big test today – playing a great somewhat penalty-free game with so many key players injured. SeaBass better be on as should Soup. D-Wow and Hagan better have banner performances.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:17 am
Maybe corkran can get over his hissy fit now
September 18th, 2011 at 9:18 am
Good thing we carried 7 WR’s. Schilens is an injury just waiting to happen, and he’s not even one of the inactive/injured.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:21 am
Moore is an option to stretch the field. I think he has ran under 4.3
September 18th, 2011 at 9:21 am
With Schilens injury history we could be down to Moore and Hagan by half time.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:22 am
This will be a good week for Hagan or Moore to break out.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:23 am
Don’t forget NMiller is also available. He does have good hands and he does find a way to get open. This might be a big day for him. Maybe we’ll be seeing TJones handling KOR & PR.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:23 am

September 18th, 2011 at 9:26 am
I expect to see more Reece, and the unveiling of TJ…
TJ wil be in on some of the packages slated for JFORD.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:28 am
Armond, what up Bruh? I was wondering why we kept 4 TE’s… Now it makes sense… Wish ausberry was active, as his speed at TE represents problems…
Meyers is slow, and has no swivel as a pass catcher…
September 18th, 2011 at 9:29 am
Raiders 34-13…Outtro…
September 18th, 2011 at 9:29 am
McFadden can always go into the slot at times with Bush or T.Jones in the backfield. I think there is ability in the four WR’s we do have active. We have an outstanding running game, but we still have to pass well enough to make the other team respect the pass.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:30 am
Saunders & HuJack better be calling an amazing game today. With all these injuries one would think there would be a lot of limitations on what can be called. I guess we are going to see how HuJack’s next man up plan works.

September 18th, 2011 at 9:40 am
Hagan should play a role today. Hopefully Chaz will be in the mix as well.
As for DMoore; well, he showed his rookie side by running the wrong route last week and costing us a first down. Don’t look for him to be a big part of the passing game just yet.
Dmac dished out some punishment last week, but absorbed quite a bit as well. Hopefully Taiwan is learning how to pick up blitzes and can contribute sooner rather than later. We’re gonna need him on the field if we want to see a fast and physical Dmac late in the season.

September 18th, 2011 at 9:40 am
Barksdale in the Jumbo package at ORT I would imagine. This is a good opportunity for Barksdale to show HuJack that he belongs at ORT.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:40 am
God not nick miller!
September 18th, 2011 at 9:40 am
Starting at WR will be Chaz and Miller. With Moore and Hagan subbing, in that order.
I can tell you right now that Buf will not be afraid of our passing game. They will put 8 and 9 in the box and let the WRs one on one.
I said yesterday, that this will be the game for all these WRs to prove that they can be counted on and become a bigger part of our offense in the future.
It’s a good thing we have 3 if not 4 counting Reece capable RBs.
GO RAIDERS!
September 18th, 2011 at 9:40 am

September 18th, 2011 at 9:41 am
Those prognosticators like Marino just love QB’s and until Campbell plays well enough to be viewed as an elite qb they are not going to give The Raiders any respect with there picks. They just love SD because they view Rivers and an elite qb, and he has the regular season stats to back that up, but not the postseason.

It took DHB and Ford to get hurt to see Denarius Moore and Derek Hagan more playing time. Whatever works.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:45 am
Seymour’s health is key to this game. We need him in there for the entire game. D needs to play lights out today. We need a lot 3 & out for them. Our offense really needs to control the ball and run the clock. No mistakes today. Minimal penalties are called for with our limited personnel. Both DMac & Bush are nicked today. TJones may get more playing time than what would normally be the case.

Al Davis made some major errors that resulted in eight bad years for The Raiders, but he is also the one who gave The Raiders their personality. They wouldn’t be The Raiders without Al Davis, and I think he has the team going in the right direction now. Someday The Raiders will have to go on without Al, but I am not looking forword to that day.

September 18th, 2011 at 10:01 am
We have to get off to a good start, and not wake up in the 2nd quarter like Monday night. Hue is now in for a major test in Week 2.
September 18th, 2011 at 10:01 am
I am all for whoever is playing in a Raider’s uniform, but it DHB or Hagan.

how is it that the Raider’s fly back east for an early game on a short week and the chargers play a late game with a full weeks rest? The Raiders also play back to back east coast games with early start times week 13 and 14. The chargers play one east coast game with early start time and it follows their bye week

How is DHB going to be MVP of the league on the bench.
Is it me or in nobody mad he’s not playing?
September 18th, 2011 at 10:02 am
Did anyone see that punk C.Carter picked Buffalo to be the surprise 2-0 team after today with Kirkpatrick being this weeks break-out player of the week?I can’t stand that guy!
September 18th, 2011 at 10:02 am
‘Sup fellas.
It’s time for kickoff. Like TK said. Today they got to deal with us, and we ain’t the Chiefs.
Nobody circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bills. But, today the Raiders burn their wagon party to the ground.
Just win, Baby!

I have to say, Hagan did a good job catching that pass on the last series. HE got no yards, but still, the catch was good.

September 18th, 2011 at 10:12 am

If we win, we can thank the bills coach “chan.”
He didn’t have the bzlla to go for 3 freaking inches!
Thank you, you idiot.
September 18th, 2011 at 11:16 am
Back to the fear of going for 3 inches in your home stadium. Wow, that’s amasing, especially when you’re down 14 points. I can’t believe it, although I love it. It makes me think of Norv Turner, that’s something he would do. Another loser, him and his dischargers. Hope NE bztt cleans them today. I don’t don’t like Brady, but him winning today is just fine.
September 18th, 2011 at 11:17 am
Sarious Moore…wow.
