Ford vs a #3 corner in the slot is a bigger mismatch than Ford on the outside and…

shoot, we don’t even HAVE anyone else to play slot receiver (assuming Moore will stick at Z receiver)

    Basically, Thec

I think Ford is a better punt returner, kickoff returner, and slot receiver than he is a #2 outside receiver.

I think Jackson will choose the former role over the latter.

I don’t think Jackson wants Ford getting starting WR snaps AND returning all kicks.

    ++++++=

All of that is 100% speculation, conjecture, and opinion Bruh…

I hate to burst your bubble however, what plans Coach Jackson has for JFORD is total contradictory to the above statement, and rightfully so…

Any one notice that the BSPN has not given the Riaders much airtime? Funny we beat the coveted New York Jest and still get little to no credit. I understand we havent been good for a long time but considering the way we won against Jest i’m a bit surprised we arent getting more air time. Oh well STILL RAIDERS NATION for life.

  • RAIDERMAN99

Isn’t it funny how if the Raids have a good draft or make a good selection – everyone is speculating that someone BESIDES Al Davis must be responsible.

Here’s the truth: Al is responsible for every pick. Both good and bad. His scouts can recommend. His coaches can suggest. But Al is the final word and the buck stops with him. End of story.

Some of you old-timers might remember the days of BLESTO. BLESTO was a scouting combine that all but two teams in the NFL subscribed to. Many teams had virtually no scouting departments of their own and would rely on BLESTO for player evaluation and draft accordingly.

Al Davis and the Raiders were one of only two teams that refused to join BLESTO or any other scouting combine.

The maverick, as usual, preferred to go it alone.

I’m sure some of the names and faces in the Raider personnel department have changed over the years. But I’ll guarantee you the nuts and bolts of the operation hasn’t changed dramatically. Neither has the philosophy. And most importantly, neither has the man in charge.

All the people who saw fit to mock and kick Al Davis when he was down should be expected to praise him if he gets the Raids back to the top of the heap.

Never happen though. All we’ll hear is the Raids are winning again in spite of Al Davis.

    Some things will never change.

  • alex7

    Thec,

history? Do you think there’s ZERO reason that most successful NFL receivers have been bigger than 5’9″?

Little receivers (Smith, Jackson, Donnie Avery) seem to injure more often (which makes sense) and it’s just simply harder for them to do what a similarly-talented 6’1″ receiver could do.

Is Ford THAT MUCH better than Moore, Hagan, and Chaz (when healthy?)

  • alex7

again, if Jackson will start Ford at the Z spot and still let him return punts and kicks, then sure, have at it.

Listening to Hue though, I don’t think he’s into that.

Ford at slot, PR, KR isn’t more VALUABLE than Ford at Z only?

  • SnB offense defense specialteams

I like Al Davis. I like that he tries to build a team that fits this profile as opposed to a me too team.

What I have not liked about Davis was the coaching turnover / hires.

Now we are seeing the multiple dividends being paid for Al finding the RIGHT coach and sticking with the same coach/QB for two years in a row.

Imagine what can happen the longer they stay together.

  • alex7

    Ok Thec,

I’ll just ask this: Will Ford supplant DHB or Moore as a starter as far as number of snaps they receive out on the field?

I doubt it’s DHB for Al reasons, and it’d be a crime if it’s Moore.

If it’s neither, then he’ll be a guy who rotates in and out, right? Limited snaps.

  • RDRSshwYOURBUSH29

    Raiderman99,

I am sure that most of the Raiders nation knows Al is the one who okays the list, it’s obvious the framework for the type of player they pick is still the same as well, I am curious to know if he fully trusts Hue Jax to steer this team. I hope he does because Hue and Al Saunders look like a great combo!

  • alex7

true SnB. Better yet, imagine if Al spends some money on a legit D-coordinator.

  • SnB offense defense specialteams

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the way Jason Campbell is playing.

When you run the ball like the Raiders are doing, #1 rushing attack in the NFL..you keep running until the opponent can stop it.

The most important thing for the passing game is that they are getting the throws when they need it..and Hue is not being careless with the play calling.

This isn’t Madden 12 where you can just throw and throw and throw…..this is real life….and running them ball still matters….regardless of the Playstation stats of Tom Brady.

The Raiders running a run 1st offense, with timely passing is the way to win. Although I have confidence they can win throwing if they have too…like they proved against Buffalo

  • http://Raiders4Ever.com 860Todd Christensen

This is old Raiders Football 1.0. It worked in the past, re-invented to 2.0. We smacked the @@@@ outa the Jets, the league is going to take notice. Big time. But at least we didn’t leave a bloody nose. Good call Hue! Broken nose, no blood, tactical blocking! I’m in, Hue, build the Bully, New England, beware! 38/31 Raiders!

Dude I had JFORD, and DMOORE as my starters in a 2 WR set May 1st…

JFORD comes back he is on the field, simple as that…

You want something diffrent to happen, take it up with coach Jackson, he and Coach Saunders are the guru’s…I trust them more than I do any semi on the blog…

  • alex7

    true SnB

Campbell is a game-manager, which is good enough IF you either have a top D or can outscore your opponents with your ground-game.

So far so good. Just wish he could hit downfield throws more often, instead of sailing them out of bounds so much.

Imagine this running attack with a top-10 QB though :) That’s when you join the Packers, Steelers, Patriots, and Ravens.

  • alex7

    Thec,

I will be very impressed if DHB takes a back seat and doesn’t start once Ford comes back. Honestly, I would be thrilled. Just not ready to say it’s a lock, not with Al as owner.

Would truly show that Hue is making all the personnel moves though, if it happens.

  • qodrn

Cowboys look like the Raiders of 2009. I guess a fancy new stadium doesn’t fix everything.

  • Thec07

Alex7, We will see… in the meantime get prepared to make that deposit…

  • qodrn

anyone know why Sterling Moore was let go?

  • SnB offense defense specialteams

    Alex7,

The Raider receivers are also part of the equation too. Not just the QB slinging it all over the field. The receivers have to grow in their route running and getting timing down with the QB.

    The offense is very young….

DHB is still very much a developing receiver

Moore is a rookie (although playing lights out)

    Hagan just got here

Ford injured and just a 2nd year player

Schilens has missed A LOT of time

and they just got Boss ( a legit pass catching TE)

  • alex7

The guy that replaced Sterline Moore (Ron Parker) runs a sub 4.4 forty.

That’s all that’s being reported as far as who Ron Parker is.

    Guessing Moore runs a 4.41 :)

  • zopi

Raiders still need to step up their game to beat NE, specially avoiding penalties on the receivers. This is going to be the key because of the offense that Bilichukup runs. LBs will be chasing the patsies’ tight ends, will need to be more physical on them, but avoid the penalties, don’t play into the refs games.

I’m sure HueJac will keep working on that issue this week.

The Raiders can only get better, this is still a young team, mainly built through the draft.

If Chekwa turns out to be a decent coverage db, score another one for a great draft.

So far what a difference between this year’s OL and last’s? Is Wiz II making such a marked difference? And Jared has really stepped it out this year. How about Barksdale? and What if Bruce Campbell can play? Are the Raiders looking at a bright future in the O line?

  • alex7

Maybe it’s Davis’ tantrum action for Hagan’s slow butt playing well out there.

  • alex7

well yeah SnB, but JC keeps throwing it out of bounds! lol. I don’t want my receivers to run out-of-bounds routes.

  • alex7

Possible terrible D mismatches for us next week.

    Patriots TEs vs McClain.

Danny Woodhead vs any of our LBers in pass coverage.

Maybe you stick Huff on their TE all day, and play two other guys at safety.

  • http://Raiders4Ever.com 860Todd Christensen

Yo B@uce, my brother Sly Stone is on the skids, can you do something to prop him up? I’m East coast, you’re in his back yard! Any thing you can do to help my bro, tia! You the Man!

  • ghostraiders

Plunkett.. you brought back some cool memories bro… super bowl 18.. but it wasn’t Kenny king the hawk was opening those holes for… it was this kid named Marcus Allen…hof..

  • YoungAmerican

Ben-Jarvis Green-Ellis has been running the ball really well lately. Raiders can’t overlook him, even with Welker and Gronkowski both playing lights-out football.

  • SnB offense defense specialteams

Raiders have to play much, much better on defense.

The defense has to play at a high level for 4 QTRs….

  • RAIDERMAN99

Any ‘matchup’ quandaries or problems the Patsies present on offense have a simple solution.

Knock Tom Brady on his ass.

Brady’s going to pick apart any defense if he’s given time.

This one is all on the DL.

Disagree…The TE’s are not fast but slow, they are big, and have good hands…I prefer this match than him defending LT, or shone green…

Yeah. Chimdi Chekwa and Joe Porter played extremely well. Chekwa had a surprisingly good game and Porter might have had the better game considering he wasn’t even drafted. With those two playing that well, Moore was not needed.

Cowboy offense looks like a Chinese fire drill.

HJAX and the Raider offense are a fine tuned machine in comparison.

  • DonManoukiansNeighbor

With all this talk about JC today. Made me think with the type of run first game we are playing Pryor could play some snaps as soon as he comes back. Gives us one more threat on O to put point on the board.

  • http://ibabuss.com antispy3

Suzy Chapstick needed in aisle five. Gruden seriously kissing Shanarat’s ass. Disgusting. . .

    Mistic,

my point is the Raiders draft philosophy the last few years seems to have changed. More players from top programs, no prima donnas, more production-based than projects, more O-linemen.

Is this because Al has relenquished some control of the draft, or did he have an epiphany at this age?

    =======================

    Its because its wrong.

    ——————–

No it hasnt. Its still athleticism and winners first. Pryor, DVD, Gordan, and Ausberry were all projects picked just this year. Pryor and Ausberry havent even established their position yet. DHB was a first round project. DHB and Ford were both the fastest WRs in the draft. DVD and Jones were both picked because of their 40 times. The two year run on offensive lineman is directly related to it being a major weakness for way too long. Bruce Campbell and Barksdale, like Mario Henderson were picked because of athleticism, not college production. Our drafts are still DB and WR heavy. I have no idea where you think anything has changed.

    Kinda…

6-0, 210 lb SAFETY in Parker. Eugene IR, MM34 undetermined status, Michael Huff Concussion.

Chekwa showed he may be battle ready, DVD in the wings, Sterling a 5-10, 190 CORNERBACK.

Thia may be why but CJ is a question mark 4 sure after one horrible game and a lingering injury so maybe Sterling comes back?

  • PlunkforHOF

Hey Manouk.. You going to the game this week?

  • raiderkoolaid

We could use lots of healthy D-backs Sunday. I understand The Bills used a 4-7 defense at times. It would be nice if MM were ready to come back. No telling how long it will take for Huff to pass the protocal tests for his concussion.

  • DonManoukiansNeighbor

    Worst call ever.

  • Thec07

7 sack on brady…That will do it…4 in the first half, 3 in the second…brady should not leave the field under his own power, i would prefer a stretcher or golf cart..
