LB Brown placed on injured reserve, FB Tonga signed
By Steve Corkran
Saturday, October 8th, 2011 at 1:42 pm in Oakland Raiders.
The Raiders placed veteran linebacker Ricky Brown (concussion) on injured reserve. To take Brown’s spot on the 53-man roster, the Raiders signed fullback Manase Tonga from the practice squad.
Tonga spent 2010 on the Raiders practice squad. It’s likely that he will be used at fullback against the Houston Texans on Sunday if regular Marcel Reece isn’t able to play. Reece is bothered by a sore ankle.
It seems weird talking about on-field news in light of managing general partner Al Davis’ passing. However, it also illustrates how the beat goes on. It’s the way Davis woud want things, no doubt.

I’m gonna lay off you today, Nob Raider, because we’re in mourning. But come Monday you’re my humble minion once again.
Brahs I’ve got a special commemorative Al Reggae Party Cruise planned for tonight.
Having the yacht painted Silver & Black, making all my ladies wear eye patches and got a Lane Kiffen blow up doll we’ll tossing on the bbq next to the lobster tails.
Even when I’m performing a 3 hour Menage A Trois tonight with a few smoking strippers from Spearmint Rhino, I’ll be doing so with a tear in my eye.

No it would be to soon this season. But I think the only right fit is Otto, Madden or Parcels. And I say Parcels because Al would have loved to have him.

Man cant remember my first memory. It was just a for sure thing in my family that you are a Raider. All the older folks would talk of the old days and that they will come home one day.
My early years it was crazy to even that Oakland had a team at one time and that they were in LA.
For them to come back up North and Al decide to take his rest with these people says alot.
ArmChair talks about the love affair the people have for the Raiders in the bay area especially Oakland. He is correct

of course its competitive, that said, it wouldnt have chance against the best college teams, on each team there are several americans and Mermaid Bowl is big game here =)

Look for us to resemble the other 31 teams on defense. If not tomorrow by the end of the year. Also look for Rod Woodson and his ideas to REALLY come out now.
RW for DC next year (before he bolts somewhere else).
Bet Nnamdi more than ever wishes he dit piss Al off over the past couple of seasons. He likely would still be here otherwise…
Sad day especially for Al’s family.
Silver and Black lining?
Medium to long term outcome? The losing shackles are finally off this franchise. No more Heyward-Beys or undeserved scholorships for that matter.
Might even see a defensive head coach sometime this decade. (That said, I really hope Hue stays a long time)

I am proud of you guys. This was hard on me, and i share all of the Al Davis sentiments. I took the news hard, and I know we have a lot of moving forward issues to discuss, but this weekend is about the legend and icon, not the flawed human whose body finally left it all on the gridiron. When he didn’t travel to the Buffalo game, I knew he was bad, but death never crossed my mind, although it should have. If nothing else, Al loved the Raiders. His story was inspirational and I am hurt. I go back to the early 70’s so I lived Raider history with him, the Ghost to the Post, the Immaculate Reception, the Holy Roller, the Sea of Hands I saw these games. Anyone who goes back that far can appreciate Al, despite recent events. God Bless his family, it was always my dream to meet him and work for the team as a scout.

Steve, any thoughts on the reasoning behind placing Brown on IR. WAs his concussion so serious that we would lose him for the season?
