Raiders work out linebackers
By Steve Corkran
Tuesday, October 11th, 2011 at 4:13 pm in Oakland Raiders.
The Raiders worked out linebacker Kevin Malast on Tuesday, according to his agent, as well as linebacker Prescott Burgess, according to Aaron Wilson of Scout.com.
Malast, 25, has not appeared in any regular-season games since he joined the NFL out of Rutgers in 2009. He has spent time with the Chicago Bears and Tennessee Titans.
Malast, 25, is 6-feet-2 and 235 pounds. The Raiders are thin at linebacker in light of Ricky Brown being placed on injured reserve Saturday and starting middle linebacker Rolando McClain suffering an ankle injury Sunday against the Houston Texans.
Malast was released by the Titans in late August, and he has not been with a team ever since. He spent five weeks on the Bears practice squad in 2009.
Burgess, 27, has appeared in 38 games during his five NFL seasons, none as a starter. He has played for the Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots, including one game for the Ravens this season.

The Raiders only had 10 players on the field on the last play vs Hou.

Could be moving two guys with Pryor’s spot coming up next week.
Jerry in his chat hinted at Sho-nasty maybe getting IR’d.
That would not be good.

IR’d from a shoulder? What kind of injury did he get?

I always thought it was a shoulder.
Jerry mentioned IR in passing, nothing concrete.
I think CJ37 might get put on ice as well, especially if DVD and Chekwa can continue to emerge.

Only 10 Raiders on the field
October 11th, 2011 at 4:21 pm
How did the refs try to give it to them?
I saw Routt blatantly grab a guy around the waist on a 3rd down pass, with a ref 10 feet away immediately throwing the flag……only for it to be called off and forcing a punt.
Also saw the refs go to the replay booth on the last drive, and even though they found the Raiders guilty of a penalty, it actually benefitted us, as they moved them back 7 yards further from the sack on the play (those 7 yards saved a game-winning TD).
Only iffy call was the Carlisle hold, I thought. The block in the back that was picked up would have moved them back 10 yards, from like the 30 to the 20 (whup-t-do).
You guys crack me up with these conspiracy theories.

Man, I would not want any other owner for my team than Davis. Al would spend whatever it took to win. You know you’re not rooting in vain. Not many GMs would do that. Only 3 in todays game: Davis, Snyder and Jones. Synder just doesn’t know what he is doing and Jones, well I’m not a Cowboys fan. Al was something special.

No conspiracy theories here. Refs were simply calling a very bad game.
That review on the T.Kelly face mask should have never been reviewed!! No flags were thrown on us. That was B.S. imho.
Cooper Carlisle fantom hold negated a DMC near TD.
T.Kelly getting called for roughing the passer because he fell to the ground and kept going after the QB. Weak! I think that was even on a 3rd down.
October 11th, 2011 at 4:28 pm
Al was the 11th Raider.
October 11th, 2011 at 4:31 pm
Blantant chop block???!!! What the hell were you watching???!!!
Satele never engaged the man! And someone posted before that by definition a chop block is when a player 2 players away on the line at least engages the same blocker. Not the next guy on the line! The guy was falling into Satele!
And Routt didn’t touch the man! Thats why no flag was drawn.
What the heck are you seeing out there?

Will agree it was a badly reffed game. But I think it was badly reffed on both sides, which is a wash.
The review is reviewable (the Colts started that with their no-huddle offense always catching guys running off the field) and BENEFITTED us. If not for those 7 yards we got from it, that Schaubb pass completed to the 5 yardline would have been a TD.
The Seymour personal foul is from the Brady rule, and is called all the time. I remember Soup getting that call one time last year. May be a stupid rule, but it is called consistantly and I knew it was going to be a flag immediately.

I’m not seeing the Raiders getting screwed.
Every team, every week, is going to be on the wrong side of an iffy call.
That was a chop-block. You can’t go low on the guy, if he is be engaged by another guy.
Believe me, if I could muster up an excuse for Cooper Carlisle, I would. Him and Satele blew it by not being on the same page.
October 11th, 2011 at 4:36 pm
So count that:
1. B.S. chop block call on Satele
2. B.S. ruffing the passer call on TK
3. B.S. CC holding call on a DMC run. Near TD called back.
4. B.S. review when no flag is drawn, instead of minus 10 or 15 its minus 5yds.
I’m sure there are more. Just bad game by the refs. Very bad. We got a call or two in our favor but it was really weighted into the Texans favor.

Are you talking about the Groves 12 men on the field call?
The original play was an 8 yard sack, and we declined the 15 yard facemask penalty (debatable whether Hue should have accepted or not; yards were more important then than downs).
After the review, they called the flag on us, but the 15 yard facemask trumped it, so instead of 2nd and 18, it was 1st and 25.
Houston made it to the 5 yard line. Those 7 yards won the game.
I vote for that review call saving us the game.
Refs did us a solid on Sunday.
October 11th, 2011 at 4:41 pm
Dude, I don’t know how you saw chop block when Satele didn’t even engage the guy. And if he did its was BARELY! Coop cut him down low and he was falling in Satele’s direction! That wasn’t a high-low job. Not at all. And again, someone posted that by rule it cannot be considered a chop block. It was no chop block. Period.
And that review DID NOT benefit us! Houston was -15 or -10yds because of they grabbed TK’s face mask. That review ened up GIVING them 10 or 5yds back. It did not benefit us.
October 11th, 2011 at 4:44 pm
post 30
You are incorrect my friend. That review did HELP us. The sack pushed Houston back 8 yards, the penalty pushed them back 15 yards. We gained an extra 7 yards there.

Do you even watch the games (LOL…inside joke)??
That is NOT WHAT HAPPENED!!!
It ended up 1st and 25, instead of 2nd and 18.
They lost 7 yards of field position due to the challenge.
The only issue is whether Hue should have accepted the penalty in the first place, instead of the sack. Normally you would always take the down and the sack, but it was 4 down territory due to the game circumstances, and I think the yards were more important than the down.
October 11th, 2011 at 4:47 pm
The replay is coming up again in about an hour and a half.

relive the game. the emotional raiders vs texans game will be on NFL replay at 6:30 PST/9:30 EST on the NFL network.
October 11th, 2011 at 4:49 pm
Houston was at their own 48 yard line when Schaub was sacked for an 8 yard loss taking Houston back to it’s own 40. The penalty was then enforced, taking Houston back to it’s own 33
October 11th, 2011 at 4:50 pm

I realize this.
I’m saying any other time in the game, you clearly take 2nd and 18 over 1st and 25.
But at the end of the game, when a punt on 4th down was not an option, I think the yards were more important. Certainly debatable.
October 11th, 2011 at 4:50 pm
Wait a minute. If the sack pushed them back -8yds. They reviewed, negating the sack but accepting both penalties, either -10 or -15 for the facemask and +5 for too many men; that means the result was either -3 Houston moves the ball back or +3 for Houston, right??
I don’t think Hue was just pretending to be upset.

RAIDERS SUCCESSION PLAN A.D. (After Davis)
1. Bring in a formidable DC. Now that Al has passed, we might see more coaches willing to relocate to Alameda. Raiders need to have a top 5 defense to be Super Bowl relevant.
2. Bring in a Old Raider to bridge transition for the next generation GM. I’m thinking Madden. Madden can instill the raider way to a new GM.
October 11th, 2011 at 4:51 pm
Raiders get f#cked over by refs constantly and consistantly this is not up for debate

I can’t believe we actually had only 10 players on field for last play. I youtubed it. Wow. There was great coverage on the WR’s tho. and the pressure forced schuab to have to move left and throw right like a girl.
October 11th, 2011 at 4:55 pm
38 terrapin
No, the 5 yard penalty against us is not enforced because of the 15 yard personal foul.
Let me try to be clear, or more clear.
Houston was at their own 48. Schaub takes the snap and gets sacked at Houston’s 40 yard line for an 8 yard loss.
They then review the play. Groves didn’t get off the field so a 5 yard penalty is called. However, we now have the right to accept the penalty we had declined.
The penalty we accept was obviously a 15 yard face mask, which trumps the 5 yard penalty, making it null and void.
ONLY the 15 yard penalty WAS enforced.
Houston’s next play came on a 1st and 25 from their own 33 yard line. That review backed Houston up an additional 7 yards.
October 11th, 2011 at 4:55 pm
They reviewed, negating the sack but accepting both penalties,
**********************
They didn’t accept both penalties.
Did you have audio for the game? The ref said by rule the Texans had to decline in offsetting penalties, due to the 15 yarder, thus allowing the 15 yard penalty, instead of the play.
Hue was mad because he would have rather it been 2nd and 18 instead of 1st and 25, but as it turns out, those 7 yards were more important than the down.
October 11th, 2011 at 4:55 pm
OK. I think you fools are right.
(1:29) (Shotgun) 8-M.Schaub sacked at HOU 48 for 0 yards (93-T.Kelly). Penalty on HOU-65-M.Brisiel, Personal Foul, declined. The Replay Assistant challenged the too many players on field ruling, and the play was REVERSED. (Shotgun) 8-M.Schaub sacked at HOU 48 for 0 yards (93-T.Kelly). PENALTY on HOU-65-M.Brisiel, Personal Foul, 15 yards, enforced at HOU 48 – No Play. Penalty on OAK, Defensive 12 On-field, declined.
October 11th, 2011 at 4:56 pm

Raiders at Texans
THE SITUATION: Houston had the ball, first-and-10 at the Houston 48-yard line with 1:22 left in the game. Oakland led 25-20.
DRIVE FOR FIVE
The NFL season has reached its fifth week, and the action is more intense than ever. We’ve got all the best images from the slate of games.
THE PLAY: Houston quarterback Matt Schaub was sacked by Oakland’s Tommy Kelly. A penalty was called on Houston’s Mike Brisiel. It was declined. However, the replay assistant called for a review to see if the Raiders had too many players on the field. The review showed Oakland did have 12 men on the field, so the penalty against Brisiel was enforced for 15 yards and the penalty against Oakland for 12 men on the field was disregarded by rule.

Jason Campbell has drawn more personal foul calls than any other QB not named Tom Brady the last two years (fact).
I saw crappy calls this past week go both ways. We certainly benefitted from one “picked up” flag, and the challenge thing damn near won us the game.

LOL…..I don’t know about that.
I would put it more on us being such a good offense we quite frankly frustrate the defense a bunch.
But both the roughing the passer in the Jags game and Steelers game last year, reversed a defensive TD each time.
Both seemed pretty bogus, but worked out for us.
Both hits, also, eventually led to Soup missing a series or more.

I don’t follow Just Fire Baby.
1) Maybe Jason Campbell has gotten more PF calls in the last 2 years because he has been personally fouled? His fouls are not near as questionable than Brady fouls.
2)You say crappy “calls”. Ok well I saw 1(maybe)…the call was called a PI, but after looking at it again the officially called it correctly, it was not a PI. The correct call would be a holding call
3)Kelly’s facemask was held and Groves was on the field as the 12th man. Raiders did not benefeit from a bad call they benefitted from the correct call.
Officiating was horrible nontheless. Do not forget there were bad calls against the Raiders also that accounted for nearly all of Mcfadden’s -to be- yardage

Living here in Mass, some 25 miles south of Foxboro, I was at that game. I sat in the endzone in which Viniateri kicked the game winning FG. On one of those plays in which we had the ball late, either Ty Law or Lawyer Milloy (I cant remember which) actually dragged down Rice on one play, no call, and I believe James Jett (who scored a TD that game) was also mauled late with no call whatsoever.

Unbelievable. That play just doubled in mystique.
The further away from Sunday, I get the more I realize what magical day that was.
That play needs a name now.
“The Immaculate Interception”?
Any thoughts?

Never heard of this LB Malast, hopefully he can play some.
I am sure RoMac will play even with a gimpy ankle, he was able to shake it off and return to the Texans game. But, next man up, if he can’t go.
By now there shouldn’t be a question of NFL conspiracies against the Raiders, that was taken care of like 20 years ago. What we have now is blatant bad officiating. And you’d better believe referees talk to each other before games, and talk about calling it closer on the Raiders than any other team. However, Hue is right, it’s better not to dwell on referee calls or non-calls, and just move on.
Then again, it appears that other teams don’t get such closer looks. I don’t know if anyone noticed the SD vs Den game. SD had 0 penalties, hard to believe that after a full game, there were none called on them.
There was no chop block by Carlisle, he hit low but Satele was engaged with another defender, bad call. Let’s not forget that on consecutive games, the refs picked up two flags that favored the Raiders; there was a tangle rule called against the Raiders on the NE game, and another not called against the Texans. And, notice HueJax going crazy on the sidelines after the refs blew a snap clock, and Hue had to burn the last time out.
Just terrible officiating, the 12th man review was new to me, when was the last time anyone saw a review on a penalty. However, there should be reviews on penalties, that way the refs would call it sharper. That would only make the games last forever. Maybe getting younger refs would help.

If I may jump in on this DHB stuff.
I reain skeptikal of DHB. I can be labeled a “doubter”, I guess. I will say two things. First and foremost I would love to be proven wrong, as I am sure all of us “doubters” actually root for DHB to succeed. I know I do.
The second thing I would like to say, is he is catching the ball and it looks a lot better than previous years. By it, I mean the whole catch process. Is he still “body catching”? Sure he is. I don’t care if he catches with his hands, his body, his feet, or if JC can lodge the ball in his facemask.
To be more succinct, it just looks like he is more comfortable, a lot less nervous, and is not fighting the ball into his hand so-to-speak. IMO, he looks a lot better than he did last season.
He did have that one whizz through his hands late in the HOU game though.
I’d also like to add, I love the fire and passion I am seeing out of DHB. He is a notorioussly diligent worker, and that bodes well for DHB as well as us fans.
Like I said, I am a doubter, but I must admit, I am doubting less and less.
October 11th, 2011 at 5:33 pm

The tuck rule was called in a game the week we played NE. Maybe Buffalo/Cinci. I don’t quite remember. However, being an NFL Sunday Ticket Holder, and an avis betting junkie, I go back and forth between all the early games when we play late, and over the last 2 or 3 seasons, I HAVE seen the tuck rule called several times.

Thank you New Englandraider,
pump fake, the QB decides not to throw the ball, fumbled it, but its not a fumble
Dumbest rule in the book
October 11th, 2011 at 5:49 pm
Its early, but you compare DHB to Crabdiva you prefer DHB. Better average per catch. Crabdiva is a short game WR. DHB stretches the field. The reason for the pick is clear as day.
DHB = 2009/13.8ypc, 2010/14.1ypc, 2010/16.4ypc
Crabdiva = 2009/13.0ypc, 2010/13.5ypc, 2010/12.0ypc
All this crap about cant catch the long ball and him being a short game WR is a bunch of crap. Its just a last ditch effort to save face and say the guy can’t do something. Its one excuse after another after he proves you wrong again and again.

October 11th, 2011 at 5:53 pm
Sigh, late joining in, but in a crucial situation to have 10 men on the field does not inspire confidence in Bresnahan. We don’t really have much in the way of a backup for Romac once Ricky Brown went down. We need a Aaron Curry just for depth if nothing else. I would trade a player, not a draft pick, but Seattle might be leery of any more Raiders after Zach Miller and Gallery.

October 11th, 2011 at 6:01 pm
What are you talking about I won’t admit that? You have me sadly mistaken
I think Moore is a more natural pure WR than DHB and looks better comparatively rookie year vs rookie year. He’s much more polished.
But that doesn’t mean I should talk down DHB. I think that is the kid YOU WANT to succeed! With added emphasis. He has the most upside in the whole corp (maybe, just maybe save Moore). DHB has the size, speed and agility that could make him the most dangerous weapon in the WR corp. He will be hell to stop. Thats who you really want to succeed with added emphasis.
October 11th, 2011 at 6:02 pm
Re: the Tuck Rule Screwing. IMO the reason it was total BS was that Brady had pulled the ball down and had BOTH HANDS on the ball when it was knocked out. If you have both hands on the ball you no longer are in the act of a) throwing or b) tucking the ball. How long after deciding to not throw are you still in the motion of throwing?.. When the throwing arc has stopped? (It had) Or when the whistle blows? (C’mon man)
October 11th, 2011 at 6:10 pm
Terp… I just want the best players in the game…. that’s all I ever wanted… honestly.. until the Houston game… I’ve never seen dhb play that well… you wont hear me be critical of dhb from now on…. because I finally saw him play with determination and conviction….. it really was awesome to see… I still like dmoore. .as our best wr. .. but dhb did a great job.. .. he was the best receiver we had on Sunday. ..
October 11th, 2011 at 6:11 pm
I certainly hope Reece is back it’s obvious how bad we need his bigplay ability the offense seems somewhat stagnant without him. His plays out of the backfield are huge. And we need Gordon for short yardage did you see that 3rd and short debacle? get those guys back. Reece is a security blanket for Camp.
I love the wya they are using Ford now in the short crossing patterns with and quick outs but he is not running full speed yet.
October 11th, 2011 at 6:17 pm
Even better was lining up DMAC as a WR
October 11th, 2011 at 6:18 pm
I think we get a variety of skills and performance from our WR corps. I’m a big DWOW fan, but he didn’t do much in the Hou game. DHB did. Hagan seems like a clutch guy you can depend on to move the chains. Chaz (my MUP) came up big with a TD.. (his only catch?) Ford hasn’t done what he did last year, but seems like he could any game. When any receiver can deliver at any time, how the hell do you gameplan on defense? That’s what I’m liking about Raiders WR’s.
October 11th, 2011 at 6:18 pm
T’pin I definitely agree DHB’s size speed and athleticism is sick combo. All he needed and we’ve been saying this for a year was CONFIDENCE on Sunday. He has that now and it shows as he gains experience in how to use that body of his by shielding off DB’s and bumping them out of breaks then that awesome verticle with that speed.
DHB could become an elite rec’r in a year along with Ford and Moore and Murphy this rec’g corp could be at thet top of the list. At some point Ausberry needs to get it together he obviously is struggling in practice because Myers is terrible. We need Ausberry’s speed down the seam to open up the wides.

We are a good draft and training camp away from competing for the championship, but then we will have contract issues. Our O-line can improve with the changes suggested, but Barksdale is not that quick. Wiz could help him out when he is not facing a 3-4 Def or not picking up a blitz.
Our Def needs a shutdown corner and a LB corps committed to stopping the run.

Agreed 860ToddChristensen,
BTWs, Nice screen name. One of the most underrated players of all time. Saw a graphic during a game recently that showed Witten on a list of TEs with the most receptions or receiving yards in I believe a three-year span. The announcer reading the list sounded befuddled, almost embarrassed that TC was tops on the list. Christensen put up numbers comparable to Winslow while playing in that same era. For some reason Winslow is considered possibly the best of all time while TC rarely even gets mentioned as a possible HOF candidate. Whatever.

Whatever.
*******************
I saw Todd Christensen play, he was gold. He was a converted FB and he never looked back. Back in the day, Oakland always had the leading TE’s:
• Billy Cannon
• Ray Chester
• Dave Casper
• Todd Christensen
October 11th, 2011 at 7:36 pm
Chris ny, Todd got it done every day, many games playing hurt, old Raider true to this team. A greater example of Raider belief, Raider example, Raider tradition, I can not name! He is as true a Raider example as any you can name. Third and whatever, he got it done, even while bleeding, he bled Silver and Black!

This could be an Epic year there is something about this team that says special and I’m talking about the way they go about their business. It’s just starting to come together in ways we haven’t seen since the last SB year.
DMC DHB Huff DVD Chekwa WizII Ford Routt McClain LHouston Reece Branch MM34 Veldheer Moore TJ Barksdale Bush Ausberry Gordon Jano. All players when you mention them have Big Al written all over them.
Then the classic FA pickups and trades the mark his career Seymour Cartwright Camp Boss Moss Wimbley Hagan all typify who he was as a football man going about the business of biulding a team.
PS I know some of you doubt Terrelle Pryor but who else would take that chance but Mr D.? many of those players I named people laughed when he drafted and traded for them or picked them up. But that’s how he biult teams great teams of the past thaat is how he did it. While they were laughing he just gave one command “just Win baby” and they did. Soon the laughter stopped…
October 11th, 2011 at 7:51 pm
We look tough. Really, really tough and like we’re only going to get better.
The o-line is playing great. Veldheer at a Pro Bowl caliber level at LT.
The d-line is fierce with the likes of Seymour (5.0 sacks in 5 games), TK, Henderson, Shaughnessy, Houston and Bryant plus the speed rush capabilities of Moss and Wimbley.
McFadden is arguably the best offensive weapon in the NFL right now. Bush is both agile and bruising, a former Heisman candidate himself.
We’ve got explosive wideouts in Ford, Moore, Murphy and DHB who are capable of scoring on any given play. As well as big guys like Schilens and Hagan with steady hands and the guts to go over the middle (and they’re both very athletic as well).
Boss is an excellent blocker and receiver.
Huff is one of the best safeties in the NFL. Branch is coming into his own. And I’ve always been a big MM fan and the intensity he brings to the field.
One of the best punters of all time.
Janikowski is a true difference-maker in the K position.
Campbell is playing by far the best football of his career.
Everywhere I look I see big, fast, powerful players with heart that are coming into their own and should only get better. I see an excellent and fearless head coach.
I see a team that could make a special run this season.
October 11th, 2011 at 7:55 pm
TJ, I’m in, there is something going on I really like. Raider Football. Been here since 64, and we are getting back to the basics here, and it is showing. But this new team is gelling, believing, and getting better every game. Most posters don’t remember the great teams, great games, Heidi, but I’m so optomistic about our young club, so many weapons, so many things Al Davis has let in his legasie. Al will never be replaced, only emulated!

Chris if they start to live up to their potential this team will make a run sometime during this season it may only happen late but I’m telling ya’ they’re going to go on a 4-6 game win streak when teams are just floored by their speed and quickness. And overwhelmed by their power in the front7.
October 11th, 2011 at 8:01 pm
That was fun watching the game again!
October 11th, 2011 at 8:04 pm
There were only 10 players on that last play. That you could see anyway. But you know what, the 11th player was Al Davis.
October 11th, 2011 at 8:05 pm
Best Raider win in many years. Talk about a rollercoaster ride! Wow, bout gave me a frigin heart attack but what an ending – can’t say I wasn’t tearing up at the end there. If you were listening on the radio it was an amazing call by Poppa.
This game could be the turning point for a run this year and beyond.. I really we have something going.
Dline played great. Run D was solid against a quality opponent and a top 5 NFL rusher, except for the 1st series. Kudos to Moss stepping up with ShoNasty out. He’s proving to be a classic Al Davis steal. Seymour is just straight out ballin and getting Kelly and the young pups to really stand up.
McClain still not playing well, but was around the ball a little more at least but he’s got to improve and quick. Groves looked lost 1st series but then got it together. We need to sign some depth at LB, maybe 2 guys as McClain got dinged and he can’t get any slower..
Can’t FINg believe they gave up a 3rd and 23 to setup that final play! Unacceptable on Boyd/Huff/Branch. Branch gets the real kudos for the game winner making Schaub have to pull up and pass it. Man, Branch was lightening quick to come up from 4 yds deep in the endzone in a flash and first prevent him from running it in and then making him throw it quick and off balance. He saved the game.
JC looked just pretty bad most of the game. Not sure what’s up with him he’s got that look in his eyes from last year again.. but he did make an excellent step up in the pocket and hit a crossing Schillens (every announcer and talking head calls him Shillings which is really annoying). JC’s deep ball, especially to the right side, is really hurting us and preventing alot more big plays from happening. Ford was doubled and 1st and 10 from the 2 – that was a terrible decision and could have easily cost us the game … JC needs to start playing alot better and I think he will this week. We need 13 for 19 with 160 yds and 1 TD and nothing more. NO TURNOVERS!
DHB.. DHB? DHB????!!! (insert Jim Mora’s twang) Wow! 2 weeks in a row. Well if he can keep winning the 1 on 1 battles on the stop route he’s money – lol – and counter with the double move and JC get him the dang ball he might be a real consistent threat. Still think Hagan is the better of the two and with Murph coming back there’s an issue .. but, but.. keep proving me wrong DHB – Young Man Rumble! You might be something yet.
Overall. Can’t really complain though can we?!!! Big win against a very good team in a tough tough situation. Have to take a pat, I called it and they came through – got +190 on my money line bet!! Love Hue is embracing the Al attitude (us against the world) and he’s winning. Amazing, really.. Maybe this is the beginning of something great. Look out Browns, we are going to open up a can.. And the rest of AFC West? HAAHAA!!
RIP, Al Davis. You were truly one of a kind and thank you for giving us the the NFL as we know it today and especially for the one and only RAIDERS! It will never be the same without you and you will never be forgotten in the minds and hearts of the true Raider fans around the world.
I’ll be in sec 141 Sunday to pay my respects and watch our team Kick A##!

It’s mainly us old geezers who really understand. We were here for the Great teams – the really good old days. I started with the Raiders in 66, I think. Might have been 65. We were fortunate enough to see AD in his oprime, when he was making all this history. The newer kids on here have only known the bad and unsuccessful days. I can really feel for them. But, we were there; we saw it; we lived it; we continue to support our one & only favorite team – Da Raidahs…
That last part was in honor of Coach Al Davis. I’ll be there Sunday. Wouldn’t miss this historical event.

Oh, I just went back a few posts and saw people already claimed the “11th man” being Al on that play. A minute too late, a dollar too short I guess…lol
The game should be named after Al, call it “The Davis Game” or “The AL Game”.
“The 11th man” would apply too because of that last play. everyone would know what you are talking about and who the 11th man was.
truly a game for the decades…
October 11th, 2011 at 8:12 pm
DHB is going to be a load to handle going forward…His confidence is off the charts right now…
We would be better served to pair him with DMO and HAG on the outside, with JFORD slotted…
Like DMAC as a WR though, been waiting to see that for a few years now…
I predicted a top 5 O…We are a little behind schdule however, when the end of the year comes when they talk about explosions, and explosive plays they will have to mention the NATION…

I agree totally. Fugg sharing a stadium with you know who and in Santa Clara?? Are you F*ing kidding me??? We don’t need a new stadium. I’m tired of hearing that crap. We need championships! – We need to be back on top again destroying the AFC West! We need to get back to bringing the swag that Al invented and backing it up with hitting mufuggers in the the neck week in and week out. Oakland Coliseum is part of that mystique and get back to those ways and Oakland will get a new stadium in due time at the same location. Al will roll over in his grave if they do any deal with the Niners. The Raiders don’t need to share a stadium with anybody.

Amazing. I had to go back and watch that last play again to see if there really was only ten players. All of the recievers were covered. The D line got preasure and flushed the qb out of the pocket. When it looked like he might be able to run for it Branch came up and was in possetion to make the tackle and then forced him to throw the ball or get sacked, and Huff stepped in front of the pass. The play was beautifully defended.

I was watching Cam’s highlights today, and just imagining the props he would get if he were Tebow. He’s amazing. Just flat out amazing. Tebow can throw for 120 yards and 5 interceptions in their next game, and if he has so much as one good play, they’ll loop it on ESPN for 24 hours straight.

If DMAC’s 41 yard run stands, he has a good game statistically. He busted off some nice runs in the 4th. He put metal to the pedal when it counted. Mario Williams out for the season could be the end of the Texans season.

What was cool to see was the Raiders seeming to be the aggressor out there. Houston may have had the stats but to come in there in a very hostile environment, against a team that many people feel to be one of the AFC’s elite, who were on a hot streak to boot, and beat them on the road like that?
Good.

With the Raiders committing an NFL-high 50 penalties, the Browns must make a concerted effort to minimize drawing yellow flags.
One factor that could be particularly influential to the outcome of Sunday’s game between the Browns and Raiders is discipline.
Both clubs have had their issues with penalties, although the Raiders have done much more in the way of self-destruction. They’re the most penalized team in the NFL, adding another eleven to push their total to 50 (nearly double what the Browns have) with Sunday’s victory at Houston.
On top of that, the Raiders have had a knack for drawing yellow flags at the least opportune moments. They repeatedly find ways to kill offensive drives and make things more difficult for their own defense by extending opponents’ drives.
That makes it imperative on the Browns, who had eleven penalties in their season-opening loss against Cincinnati and eight in their Week 3 win against Miami, to play as clean a game as they have all season. Doing so would figure to give them an edge they will absolutely need to have success in a difficult place to play, the Black Hole.
The Browns should have the chance for some success through the air. The Raiders, who rank 29th in the league against the pass, have been without a true shutdown cornerback since losing Nnamdi Asomugha to free agency. Nevertheless, they prefer to play man-to-man coverage, and, against pass-happy teams, their corners tend to wear down by the fourth quarter.
If ever there was a game when the Browns directed the bulk of their passing game in the direction of their wide receivers – and especially new starter Greg Little – this should be it.
For the most part, the Raiders’ passing game has performed at a much higher level than anticipated. Until last Sunday’s 25-20 win against the Texans, quarterback Jason Campbell had been enjoying superb pass protection. Through the first four games, the Raiders had allowed only two sacks. But last Sunday, they gave up three sacks against the Texans’ blitz-happy defense.
The Raiders’ general offensive plan is to keep as few people in as possible to protect Campbell, so that he has the maximum number of receivers running routes.
The Raiders have the NFL’s second-ranked running game, led by the explosive and powerful Darren McFadden. He will be a load for the Browns’ defense, which ranks 25th in the league against run. The Raiders also have a nice complement for McFadden in Michael Bush, who they use effectively in short-yardage and goal-line situations.
The Raiders will concentrate on setting up the pass with a smash-mouth running game that they also intend to use to control the clock and keep the Browns from finding any of that elusive spark in their passing attack.
>>Be sure to tune in Monday through Friday, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET, for “Cleveland
I went to the Browns web site and you see that they’re really into football. They were unbeatable in the 50ths when they had the great Jim Brown and Otto Graham. They have a rich history, but nothing over the past 30 years.

Cleveland has the fourth ranked O-line. Raids need the D-line to come to play.
Wimbley you need to return to last years production. Did you gain to much weight Cam? Every pass rush same thing, right arm upper cut rip for leverage, then nothing, the tackles are riding you like a kids pony, whipping your ass the whole way.
RoMac you looked ridiculous on the play action byte, that burned you guys, and kept a scoring drive going, but I then witnessed all world MLB B. Ya, on the Browns web site (from post #263) they feel that Greg Little, their number one receiver is going to cause us big damage, first with short quick slants and them with deep paterns in the 4th quarters when they claims are defenders are tired.
I think they’re delusional … we’ll beat them down big time. At home, after Al’s death, sold out stadium and an opportunity to go 6 – 2 by winning the next three games (ALL AT HOME). After we beat the Browns, the next two home games are against the Chiefs and then the donkeys…big opportunity for us. Also, we get the by-week before the denver game which gives us a chance to heal and two weeks to prepare for denver.
Can’t get any better than that and it all starts this Sunday.

Good of him to honor Davis like he did. He’s right. The younger crowd especially might be just looking at the last 8 years when Davis is so much more than that. SO much more.
Also, interesting note that Papa thinks Davis’ health decline took a sharp dive after the SuperBowl loss.

Why suggest trading a LB for a LB? We need all the depth we can get.
If we do get a LB, it would probably be a backup/ST guy at best – so I hope ROMac gets healthy – cuz’ we ain’t gettin’ anything better anytime soon.
Cut Ausberry, Gordon or Meyers to make room for a Backup LB.
Too bad we let T.Howard go, and Goethel got injured. We should probably just move Boyd to reserve LB, drop Tonga back down to make room for Pryor when Reece and Gordon are healthy and roll with what we got.

Come on. the Cleveland Browns are named after their owner: Paul Brown. Brown was one of the essential stalwart football guys including Curly Lambeau and George Halas. Brown sold his Cleveland franchise and his son Mike runs the Cincinnatti Bungholes. Unfortunately, Mike does not have the same passion for winning as Paul did. Just ask Carson Palmer. When asked after ANOTHER 4-11 season about his team, Mike Brown said, “It was a great year. I made $24 million.”
As I posted a few days ago, what just transpired was the end of LAST of the great FOOTBALL MEN. Men who made their life the game of football. You will NEVER EVER see that AGAIN. To witness it was quite astounding. Unfortunately, it went over almost everyones head.

“Postcards from a Limey”
October 12th, 2011 at 4:50 am
It only went over the heads of those outside the Nation – Media types and fans of other teams dismissing it as a simple narrative.
Those of us in the Nation – those of us grown men who shed tears for the loss – the ex-players, ex-coaches, local journalists, and ticket-toting fans of the Oakland Raiders – It didn’t go over our heads, and that will never diminish.
For this fan – the NFL experience will never be the same again.
********************************************************
Great post. Couldn’t agree more.

These ate the games that used to scare me. A team were supposed to beat an somehow we’d play down to the competition an lose or damn near lose. I think we have turned the corner on that kind of play. An will prove it the next 3 games. With teams coming in that we should be. We will see where were at by the end of this three game homestand.
Go Raiders!!!

On final play, Raiders had 10 men on the field
Posted by Mike Florio on October 11, 2011, 9:28 PM EDT
Reuters
The day after Raiders owner Al Davis died, his team clinched a victory over the Texans by thwarting the Texans from the doorstep of the end zone on the final play of the game, as safety Michael Huff intercepted Houston quarterback Matt Schaub in the end zone.
In what was a fitting, albeit surely unintentional, missing-man formation tribute to Mr. Davis, the Raiders managed to keep the Texans from scoring with only 10 players on the field.
A reader tipped us off to the intriguing glitch earlier today, and we’ve pulled up the video of the game from the excellent Game Rewind service at NFL.com. It’s true — the Raiders had only 10 men on the field.
And so just when it looked like a moment couldn’t have gotten any more perfect, it has.
Sounds to me like Florio is officially on the bandwagon!

GM Hwnrdr……
Just read this article about Madden and this what he said about the man
“Al and I were always close, and we talked a lot about a lot of things,” Madden said on KCBS Radio. “But I think a lot of these things are premature right now. It’s still (about) mourning the death of Al Davis, and he was such a great person to so many people and did so many things.
“For me, it’s rather harsh just to jump in from death to this … I’m still thinking about … it was just a week ago that I was sitting with Al. And he said to me out of the clear blue, ‘You know Willie Mays?’ And I go, ‘Yeah.’ And he goes, “I’ve lost touch with him. I would like to see him again.’ I was going to try and get a hold of Willie Mays and have him come to a game.”

Report: Raiders’ G.M. search begins
Posted by Mike Florio on October 12, 2011, 8:11 AM EDT
AP
Further confirming the fact that Mark Davis will own, but not run, the Raiders, Albert Breer of NFL.com reported Tuesday that the team has commenced the process of looking for a General Manager. The model, as Breer explains it, would operate like the situation in Pittsburgh, where coach Mike Tomlin and G.M. (as of this season) Kevin Colbert work in concert.
Breer also reports that a football consultant could be hired to help the team through the balance of the 2011 campaign.
Raiders CEO Amy Trask separately said that she is not ready to talk publicly about the possibility of hiring a G.M. or a director of football operations, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Though the process of running a team during the season is less complex, plans need to be made for free agency in 2012 and the next college draft. Complicating a quick search is the fact that an overabundance of quality candidates aren’t immediately available, since most of the best choices currently have jobs. Also, given that the G.M. would have to work in concert with coach Hue Jackson, the search would need to happen at a time when Jackson has time to be involved with interviews and discussions with the finalists.
To the extent that the Raiders will gravitate toward folks with ties to the organization, names to watch could include John Madden, Matt Millen (who as Peter King reported over the weekend turned down an offer to work for the team after being fired by the Lions), and Sean Jones (whom we’re told was at one point under consideration for a front-office job).
Then there’s a topic that was raised during Tuesday’s PFT Live. With the Raiders under Al Davis never using contracts for anyone in the front office, it’s unlikely that Jackson’s contract stipulates that he reported to anyone but Al Davis. The next question becomes whether Jackson’s contract contains language that would require him to report to a G.M. or some other employee who may be hired upon the passing of Al Davis. If not, the coach and the G.M. would have separate straight-line reporting obligations to Mark Davis.
Eventually, there’s a good chance that Mark Davis will create a hierarchy like the one that Randy Lerner has crafted in Cleveland. Lerner, who inherited the Browns from his father (who also was named Al), has no interest in being a traditional owner. Thus, Lerner has hired Mike Holmgren to serve in that role as to all football matters. Though Jackson’s contract could be an impediment to that structure, it could be the best way for Davis to run the team, if he doesn’t truly want to run the team.

I’ll take Prescott Burgess & Terrelle Pryor over Ron Parker & David Ausberry!

This story keeps getting more amazing.
Hue Jackson told his players Sunday after the amazing win over the Houston Texans, that owner Al Davis — who died Saturday at the age of 82 — had something to do with Oakland safety Michael Huff’s interception of Matt Schaub in the end zone on the final play. There was room for Davis on the field.
The Raiders had 10 men on the field for the final play of the game.
Thanks to all the readers who reached out to me about this. I watched the film of the play. It sure looks like 10 players on the field to me.
The story was already amazing. Now, it’s poetically stunning.
Meanwhile, the Raiders are doing what they can to ensure a full house Sunday for their first home game since Davis’ death.

I can remember people trying to tell us we needed t.o & ochostinko. Whenever I countered with the assertion that we could do without the diva act from fading stars, the response was about production & stats vs our wr group.
Well turns out t.o is out of the NFL at least until November, ochostinko has 9 catches 0 touchdowns. Not only do we get better production from our receivers, but could you want a better group of guys? DHB has done nothing but show class & work his butt off & now he is giving us big time production. He could turn out to be not just the most improved player on this team, but perhaps in the entire NFL!
The comments he made after the Tex game showed that he wants nothing more then to validate the faith that Davis put in him. This is why he acts like a Mac man on the field these days, he has a huge chip on his shoulder, as do many of the players here. I wonder if chris Carter still thinks this draft pick is so funny?
October 12th, 2011 at 6:52 am

I had front and center seats watching the DHB TD and watching him toss that kid to the side that was trying to tackle him was a thing of beauty…I am still not going to drink the DHB kool-aid until season’s end if there is good reason to but Hue needs to call more plays like that for him, especially when there is a smaller db covering him. He is hard to tackle im telling you.
On another note, I cannot help but dwell in the past watching what megatron is doing out there, it just makes me sick to my stomach having to watch that guy wear a lions uniform and thinking somewhere out there, there is a 330 lb slob drinking purple drank counting his millions he stole from the Nation. Raids have experimented (unsuccessfully) with moving DEs to OLB.
If McClain can’t go this week, or if he needs to be replaced down the road, the Raids should think out of the box and consider moving a DE to MLB.
I’m pretty sure most people will find this idea absurd…but I believe Kam Wimbley could make the transition.
He’s got the foot speed. When he’s been asked to go downfield and cover, I’ve been surprised at how adept he appears in this role.
His run stuffing ability would be a huge question mark, but I’d like to see this guy get a chance to play again without a hand on the ground.
Know he played outside for Cleveland, but I believe he could be better suited for the middle.
One things for sure, he’d be a beast coming on the blitz.

R8drcain,
Crow taste good when it’s about our players being better than advertised. DHB is having a better season than craptree
DHB 16 catches 263 yards 1 td and a whopping 16.4 yards per catch average
Craptree 11 Catches 132 yds 0 td 13.1 yards per catch
Harvin 18 catches 183 yards 0 td 10.2 yards per catch
DHB started very slowly but I will call my shot now. DHB WILL HAVE A FAR BETTER CAREER THAN CRAPTREE. craptree is injury prone slow & a headcase. DHB is azing fast works hard & is team first. Craptree is the 3rd or 4th option for the niners, DHB is often jc’s first look. Davis was right.

I feel you hindsight is 20/20. No.2 especially in light of the loss of Al Davis has become an even less likable character, but when you really think about it, everything happens for a reason. Russel in the wrong place at the wrong to time created the perfect storm. We had the wrong coaches for our organization, and the wrong players in silver & black.
Thank goodness Davis is at the beginning stages of his last & greatest comeback story, & so ate se wrap of these players. The worm has turned & no.2 kiffin /cable era was rock bottom & we are clearly on the rebound with hu jack & company
October 12th, 2011 at 7:30 am
TDHB undoubtedly played his best game as a Raider so far.
But another oft criticized player also had what I consider to be his best game as a Raider as well.
I’m talking about Tommy Kelly.
The big man was playing his butt off in Houston.
His sideline pursuit of Schaub was truly impressive. TK was chaing Schaub for a good 30 yards towards the sideline and actually outrunning him.
His late sack when he got facemasked was a huge play at a huge time.
Got a kick out of seeing him talking crap to the Hou WR immediately after Huff’s pick.
TDHB, TK, and Janikowski, three players that Al was mocked for drafting or giving the big bucks to – all came up huge last Sunday.

I can’t write off romac yet. He played the best second half of his life on one leg. He showed that he does care & he was tremendous in run defense. Almost a’s if he didn’t want to show up on film as the only guy that failed to match the level of his teammates. Thought JC played a lousy game overall. Missed some easy throws and his deep ball stunk as usual.
But he surprised me once again by making a nice play on the move. Whenever Campbell starts moving around, I’m holding my breath, expecting something bad to happen.
Surprised the heck out of me by stepping up and throwing a beautiful pass to Bush late in the Jet game.
Last Sunday his TD pass the Chaz while on the move was also nicely done. Campbell got to within a yard of the LOS on that play but knew where he was. He also used his peripheral vision to spot Chaz, saw him but didn’t stare him down, and threw sort of a ‘no look’ pass that left the Texans defenseless.
Nice play.
Now if he could actually start throwing the deep ball with some accuracy, we could take better advantage of the great speed of DM, Ford and DHB.

Haven’t read thru all the posts, but seen this…..
After the surprising news about the passing of Al Davis, the Oakland Raiders clinched an emotional win on Sunday against the Houston Texans after Michael Huff intercepted Matt Schaub in the end zone on the final play of the game. While it was already an impressive win for the Raiders to begin with on the road, it was their accidental mistake at the end of the game that made this win even more special.
Doug Farrar of Yahoo! Sports provided a screenshot of both teams lining up for the final play of the game on Sunday–with the Raiders only having 10 players on the field. At first, many wondered if Oakland purposely had 10 men on the field as a tribute to Davis–but they insist that was not the case.
Either way, the important factor here is the Raiders still won the game without having all of their players on the field at the end of the game–which makes the win that much more sweet.

Well, I got it only because they fixed the tackling. It’s as realistic as its ever been. It’s the best Madden in several years, but being EA, it does have its problems.
At first I thought the clock run off was an error or something but you can only turn it off in exhibition, so I just play Franschise with 8 min quarters.
You can play hurry up, but the clock does get annoying.
Also, QBs hold on to the ball too long. This has been an ongoing issue for the last three years, but much worse this year. The pro is that I am racking up sacks on opposing QBs (Kelly, Seymour, Wimbley and my boy Lawrence Timmons – acquired in a surprisingly one0sided trade from Pitt – are beastly). Also stole DRC from philly.
McFadden is pure gold, though, and they gave Moore a lot of love.
October 12th, 2011 at 9:23 am
MR, they allow you to edit players, so if you didn’t want to pay for Xbox live and get roster update, you could literally edit each player as you see fit.

Why and How did HU jack gain the respect and trust of Davis so soon? How has he managed to forge a relationship with the mercurial owner, when other coaches flopped miserably?
They always said Davis wants puppets. coaches that will simply fall in line with Davis and any of his whims. From what I can tell Davis wasnt looking for that at all. Coaches that fit that mold didnt last long at all because the players and Davis would walk all over them. Coaches like mike white, and Norvell turner, can x o with the best of them, but they didnt have the stones, or force of personality to deal with Davis. Hu jack has been able to balance the demands of Davis with out appearing to be a push over in the face of the players. I believe his passion equaled Davis, and Davis’s vision was indeed similar to Jacksons’s vision. the fact that they agreed so often, gave Hu jack leeway to disagree when he needed, because of their genuine relationship.
Then you had guys like shell, and bugel. They had a genuine respect and relationship with Davis, but didnt have the minerals to game plan. So I can imagine davis being dissatisfied with something in practice or in the game, then dancing circles around these two discussing game plan and scheme on one of those late night phone calls that hu jack described. the players knew this, and knew that it was davis coaching. Those guys were in over their heads, so their relationship with davis worked against them in the eyes of the players, as they looked to be puppets.
You have another class of coaches that davis hired that could scheme, they knew how to coach, they had enough personality to hold their own in the eyes of the players, yet they still failed. They failed because they were never truly believers in the raider way. They didnt believe in Davis’s methods, yet they came in as if they wanted to carry on our tradition. I would include gruden, kiffin, and cable ( cable didnt have the chops to scheme or gameplan like the others in this group to be clear), all in this catagory. Each of these guys was like a wolf in sheeps clothing. they wanted to change the way things are done here. They wanted to choose players, change our philosophy and the like. they made their dissatisfaction public and ruined any shot at forming a real relationship with the last living godfather of the nfl! Their obtuse nature made it impossible to succeed. Davis traded gruden, fired kiffin, and let cable walk because these guys in part because these guys could figure out how to work with davis.
This brings us to hu jack. Unlike kiffin, and gruden, HU jack wrapped himself in the shadow of Davis and used it as a shield. A shield against the media that is constantly trying to find evidence of a nonexistent rift between the two. When ever he asked about the communication between them he falls back to how willing he is to be a part of those conversations. Gruden and kiffin wanted to be remake the raiders, hu jack wants to restore the raiders. Davis saw this and trusted HU jack because of it.
Al davis will always be a coach, he coached players, and he coached the coaches. Kiffin gruden, & moronically cable thought they didnt need his coaching. Hu jack relished it. Of course any person that has been teaching as long as Al wants willing and respectful students, when you find one you love them. Hu jack was smart to learn like he did, this also difused any media angle looking to stir up issues.
Hu jack is a great play caller, and knows schemes and knows how to teach players. This along with his passion and force of personality allow him to command the attention in the locker room, and the respect from Davis. When players start to see that what you are teaching is making them better players, and producing wins they buy in quickly. we have seen players that have been considered some of the worst and biggest bust, now begin to look good. The players in the locker room are fully aware of this and so was Davis.
I realize this is a highly speculative theory based on an outsiders view. Yet I think that following my team and davis for 30 plus years has allowed me to identify a few patterns. My guess is in his last few years, Davis was at his sharpest, & may have made his greatest hire since flores in hiring Hu jack.
October 12th, 2011 at 9:24 am
Interesting choice of words by the TMZ interviewer, how important was Al to black players.
Dickerson’s reply, “No comment”.
Ouch. Is Dickerson just bitter over not getting a paycheck he wanted? Or did he hear some banter similar to what Tim Brown got about black players from Notre Dame while with the Raiders?
I agree with him about bringing the Rams back to L.A., though. L.A. needs to cultivate its own culture and stop jacking everything from Oakland. Hip hop (trying to turn “hyphy” into “jerkin’”..lol), the Raiders…get off Oakland’s nuts, L.A. I know Hollywood is lame now and LA’s music scene is even lamer, but pilfering from the yay is not the answer. Get your own schit together.

PFT:
Report: Raiders’ G.M. search begins

That roughing the passer call on Seymour was pure, 100% B.S.
He didn’t dive at his legs like Bernard Pollard did to Tom Brady or Raheem Brock did to Roethlisberger this season. He didn’t even hit Schaub in the knees. he was on the ground, reached out and wrapped up his ankles/shins and pulled him down.

Just like the questionable holding call on Cooper Carlisle which negated the 42 yard run by McFadden.
It’s all part of their (official’s) game plan concerning the Raiders. And, no, I’m not paranoid, I’m practical and observant of penalties against us….year after year. And, it started decades before the Tuck Rule. The Tuck Rule was more glaring as it stole the game and the Super Bowl as well.

And I don’t think it would hurt to have Gruden in the process, either, considering he was the only coach to get us to the playoffs somewhat in this era.
===================
It cant be gruden under any circumstance. He isnt qulified for this unique gig.
think about it. We are known for have a certain type of player, in fact we are known as the only team with this particular theory on players and drafting, The davis theory. hieght wiegt speed , press corners, big nasty line men and so on.
We are the only team in football that views it this way, therefore no one from out side of that culture would be skilled in being able to idnetify the highly specialized athletes for our particular brand of football.
we dont want dink and dunk wco. we are not the the browns, niners, redskins, or any other team that is using wco walsh off shoot football model.

Gruden just wanted to win and do so the only way he knew how. Don’t think he was trying to hijack the Raiders. My understanding is the rift wa smore contractual than anything. Davis made an offer that Gruden didn’t like and then he got traded.

Yeah, that was a legit penalty. It’s that Tom Brady rule. Can’t dive at the QB at/below the knees. Five years ago that’s not a penalty. In today’s league though, that’s pretty textbook case.

Mistic, I know Gruden did want a saw in the final 53 (which I would consider part of contractual dispute) but he would have been ok with Al drafting and controlling 53 if Al paid him properly. Al was willing to keep Gruden on at a particular price, which Gruden didn’t agree with.
Gruden was in Al’s ear. They didn’t agree on a player, Gruden would bring in cut ups. There were several players on those teams Al probably would not have normally brought on without Gruden. But to say he was remaking the Raiders in his image goes a bit far, I think.
Gruden brought wins. Gannon brought wins. Not traditional Davis philosphy, but Al had the final say on all that. They brought us Ws. Don’t see how any Raider fan could not be proud of the Gruden/Gannon years.

Interesting facts
phillip rivers 125/186 67.2 cmp %1536 yards 8.26 yard per att 6td 7int 4 fumbles rating of 87.6
orton 91/155 58.7 cmp% 979 yards 6.32 yard per att
8td 7int 2 fumbles rating 75.7
cassel 93/140 66.4cmp% 945 yards 6.7 yards per att
8td 5int 2 fumbles rating of 89.7
Jc 94/156 60.3 1118 yards 7.17 yards per att
6td ( 2 rushing td 8 total) 4int 1 fumble 84.3 rating
Looks like Jc is on par with any qb in our division.
he only trails rivers in cmp % yards and rating, but he has less turnovers, and throws the ball down field more than rivers.
In fact “captain check down” is leading the afc west in throwing down field, and turns the ball over less than any qb in the division.
Jc has the best td to turn over ratio in the division as well. rivers is the only other qb to have a rushing td giving him 7td / 11 turnovers. Jc has 8td/ 5 turnovers.
Dont look now but at this moment we are being treated to the best qb play in the afc west!
